Seven of us: son & wife, three teenage grandchildren, wife and I. Nice interior and a covered outside eating area if weather was clement. Really has the makings of a 5-star restaurant, but there were some off-putting things that got in the way. Menu is excellent. Lots of choices, your place mat is your menu until you order. Our server stuck to his order of march: drinks, appetizers, mains desserts. It was mostly a non-alcohol dinner, so the drinks were an odd mix of soda water and colored drinks with flags. Can't tell you about wine list or other prices. Order taking took awhile and we got through it. My son and I each had the Steak Frites ($39.70). Nice portions. Suggest you order meat cooked to a higher level of doneness as they tend to go light on cooking. I ordered medium and got almost rare. Son ordered medium well and got high medium. Truffle fries were plentiful and a bit too salty with the Kosher salt. A decent dinner. One Maxx Burger ($21.85) inhaled by the 16 year old male. Liked it. One Kid Chicken Tenders ($10.30) with three sides. She liked the mashed potatoes and the chicken. One Chicken Picatta ($25.50), a special. Son paid the bill, I don't have receipt. Wife liked the chicken and the accompanying spaghetti with capers was very good. She took home a portion good for lunch the next day. One Pappardelle Bolognese ($29.35) well enjoyed by granddaughter. One California Chicken Sandwich ($20.70). Daughter-in-law ate half of it. Not a big eater. I did not like the finished meal plates snapped up one at a time. We were talking and it took awhile. Suggest you tell your waiters/bussers to wait until everyone is done, to ask if it is OK to take the plates and get it done. The slow eaters are under the gun to hurry up...and we, after dinner, thought that Burton's wanted diners to move quickly through their meals and clear out for other guests. This was evident when our server, who was not very well-versed, asked for dessert orders. We said no desserts. He left the table for a rather long time and returned, again asking for dessert orders. Obviously he was stymied not having that item accomplished. He left. Again, after quite a pause, we flagged another server down and asked for our bill. So, great menu and decent offerings, but we felt rushed. We all agreed, over ice cream bought at another vendor. Will be back. Came here for dinner on a Sunday with my parents. We started with the she crab soup and firecracker shrimp. Both were good. I was pleasantly surprised by the she crab soup, decent amount of crab and good texture for a soup. The firecracker shrimp was well fried. I feel like it could've used just a little more spice maybe to elevate it. For entrees we ordered the Mediterranean chicken risotto, the burger (maxxed) and the crab crusted haddock. My mom like the risotto overall but found the chicken slightly dry. My dad could barely fit the burger in his mouth but he finished off. The parmesan truffle fries were very good. The crab crusted haddock was good but I wish they proved more sauce instead of just the drizzle around the edge. The staff here were very friendly though and the restaurant was fairly spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend just parking by the Harris Teeter as it's easier. read more

Gotta start this off talking about the she-crab soup: BOMB! I'm still thinking about it. Creamy, good chunks of crab & the perfect temperature. Ugh. I'd go back just for that! The drinks were good too. I honestly forgot what we got but both were great. My friend liked the short rib, I like the steak frites. We both had the truffle fries, they were hot and well seasoned. Our server Justin was very attentive and patient with us. Kept us updated on the status of our orders and made sure to ask if we needed refills on our drink. It was a Thursday night & surprisingly busy. We had a table for 2 and waited for about 10 minutes for an empty table. I ordered the chicken sandwich with a gluten free bun and onion rings. The food came out hot and fresh. The service is friendly and knowledgeable. We ate outside for an amazing atmosphere. They have a dedicated fryer for their onion rings. My companion got the burger with onion rings on it and said it was incredible. If I could rate that I saw a review about how delicious the burgers were -so I headed on over for lunch It was a Saturday so it was pretty busy so I nabbed the last space at the bar It's a very welcoming and lovely space - I liked the ambiance . The workers were very very busy and they were going at a fast pace -a smooth oiled machine you could tell The prices are .... Not cheap - but with prices going up so quickly all the time it's hard to know if they were re sent raised or what. That said- a great environment and very good to great food is WORTH more -to a foodie I ordered the burger - cooked medium I waited at least 30 min for it-but that's the nice thing about sitting at the bar. You can watch all the activity and look around and not be bored and get a feel for the place. When it came, it looked very nice on the plate-the brioche bun is huge-and being slightly gluten intolerant I could eat it, but I did not eat the whole bun because it is super thick. I wish I could say that about the meat! I was surprised at how thin the patty was considering the price of the burger, and especially how thick the bun was!!! It's not that it was super thin, but it was thin for that price point-and it was not cooked medium. It was completely brown throughout, but that's probably because it was thinner. I can eat well done but it's not my first choice. So to me for the price of the meal, it wasn't worth it, but I would go back and order a dish that is not a hamburger and give them another chance because I think they deserve it with everything else being a very positive experience I've got to look thru my 35,000 pictures to find more from this restaurant-cause I know I took more! I have to start by giving a big shout out to the management team here. Krisztian (and Marie) made sure when a visit not to their expectation was had by my family, that they encouraged a return visit--that previous experience was not their norm. I had written the positives and negatives in their personal survey. Shows that they read them! And they care about their customers! It was a surprisingly busy Sunday after a Friday Valentine's Day. We were acknowledged upon our reservation arrival and seated within 5-10 minutes. The service was good- we received our appetizer quickly and before the meal. Delivery of dishes was well timed. Server was great balance of checking in but also giving us space. Appetizer of calamari was good - was it the best I've had, no- but lightly battered with a good tartar for dipping. My house salad was well delicious. The fine balance of flavors and ingredients just hit the mark. The crispness of the bacon, the salty edge of the blue cheese and the tang of the mustard vinaigrette was A+. My husbands short rib was fine - but not an 'order again' selection for either of us. Crabcake snob here - it's my seaside roots I guess. Yes I know the crab is lump but still was on the smaller side for $39 entree price and wasn't a fan of the binder ingredient in it. Left the remnants on the plate. Side note - the fries were crispy and delicious! I'm new to CLT and have only found a few places that I find serves excellent food. I can now add Burtons Grill & Bar. I stopped in for a mid afternoon late lunch and sat at the bar. I was immediately greeted by the bartender although he was fairly busy. He made an excellent margarita which I've found scarce in Charlotte, I did move from Austin so I have high standards. I ordered the California Chicken sandwich with fries. Both were delicious. The chicken was tender and juicy and fries hot and crispy. I tend to judge places on chicken sandwiches and they did not disappoint. I also like the feel of the place - tons of natural light, slightly industrial with the open ceiling, but still an upscale, casual vibe. Burtons has been added to my new favorite restaurants in Charlotte, located in Blakney Shopping Center. I can't wait to go back. read more

This past Sunday, I celebrated my birthday with friends but I was a little disappointed with the meal I ordered. Nonetheless, after reaching out to the restaurant and subsequently speaking to the GM, Krisztian Martin, about my experience he was very gracious and apogized for the meal and in the breakdown of our initial communication. I'm so happy he made this gesture because I do enjoy coming to location. Except for this one time the meal was off, the food is always amazing, the staff amazing, and the ambiance of the restaurant is amazing. We had a great meal starting with the gluten free bread for the table with olive tapenade, butter, and pesto along with with the shrimp appetizer. Both were great but the shrimp were the best - huge, tender, and very flavorful with the chili sauce. The cucumbers on the shrimp dish were very refreshing. We tired the salmon with green beans and romesco sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was the most flavorful bite of the night. We also tried the beef short ribs with mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. All of with were delish. This restaurant is very allergen friendly and has lots of options. I shop in the area multiple times a week (HomeGoods, Target, Sephora, Bath and Body Works etc. are all in the parking lot), and I stupidly made the assumption that Burtons was just another Applebee's or the like. I'm not embarrassed to say, I was so wrong. The hubby and I came in for a little impromptu lunch date before he left town. We started with the Crispy Calamari. Honestly, by the look of them I thought they looked like over-fried crispy bits with the slightest hint of calamari, but they aren't. The breading was amazing! Not too much, not falling apart, and paired with the cherry peppers that are also breaded and fried, they definitely make this appetizer top tier. I had the Blueberry Hibiscus to go with and it was so good. Not too sweet. The hubby had the California Chicken Sandwich and he loved it. I was so busy with my meal I forgot to try it. But he said it was juicy, flavorful and he ate every last bite. I had the Ahi Tuna Bowl and oh my gosh. It was sooo good. The fish was cut wonderfully and the mix of cucumber, onion, carrots and rice was excellent. The spicy ginger aioli was the star. It perfectly brought all the other elements together. The restaurant is more upscale than I thought it would be, but you don't feel like you need to dress up. Leather accents, high top tables and a lofty bar area make for a superb meal out. My 79 yo mother, my wife (a Celiac), and I all frequent Burton's bc they have, hands down, the BEST gluten-free options in the entire Charlotte area. Last night we encountered the best server too. Casey was a true delight. Her service was exceptional but her ability to interact with all of us so personally was such a divine experience. So many servers look past my mom, only because she is old. Casey didn't, she was inclusive and made a point of facing her and directly speaking to her. You have no idea what a difference something like that makes. Old people need to be revered and she made her feel revered. The service really sucks in this city, as an overall experience. Casey is a gem and I hope Burton's staff recognizes what a great asset she truly is. read more

We switched, and he enjoyed the flavorful steak, while I picked at the edges of mine and took the rest home because it was way undercooked for my liking. The sides were perfect. The biggest downside: the noise. We were seated right beside the bar despite having reservations and plenty of open tables elsewhere. My order was completely wrong, I received a fish sandwich instead of the short rib grilled cheese and instead of being apologetic and owning the mistake he repeated he swore that's what I ordered. My sister and I asked for to go containers and they were handed to us with no bag so took one off their station before leaving. The scallops had an ammonia taste to them. I could only eat half of them because the taste was so off. The sides were delicious- the scallops not so much. * the mango margarita did not taste like mango at all.....I even confirmed with the waiter it was in fact the correct drink. The margarita was watered down & bitter- ranks as one of the worst margaritas I've ever had. * very $$$$ In hindsight I should have send back both my drink and dinner. Definitely not worth the cost. If you haven't tried Burtons, you definitely should! I've been twice so far and can't wait to go back. Once for a girl's night, and once for a weeknight date. The food is so fresh and flavorful! The chicken cordon blue and general tso's cauliflower are some of my favorite staple menu items. Their spring/summer menu features Chicken Milanese and it is *divine* so you should definitely go try that! The steak frites was good, my steak was just a little chewy but that may have just been the cut of meat. The fries served alongside it were fantastic! Don't skip dessert, trust me on this one! The chocolate cake is stacked higher than the empire state and that red velvet cake YUM! We had reservations for a Thursday night but didn't need them. Second visit today! I was there before and my food was so amazing I wanted to take my husband for Father's Day! Well I ordered the same thing crab cakes with broccoli and asparagus! Broccoli well done but it could have cooked a little longer. As I'm eating and cutting my broccoli there is a long brown hair at the bottom of my plate! Not mine, I'm currently blonde with braids. The waitress showed the manager who came to the table and offered to bring me more food. My appetite was gone and I agreed to just take the food home. We had a wonderful experience last night for dinner celebrating our Mom's birthday. The service is stellar. Justin was excellent. We started with the General Tso's Cauliflower, Firecracker Shrimp, and Bread Service. They were excellent. The turnaround was excellent. I also sampled the She Crab Soup which was creamy, rich, and an excellent accompaniment to the other appetizers. I love, love, love the Crab-Crusted Haddock! Loved the food and service! Came for a girls night/planning party and left a fan. The drinks were yummy, I opted for a drink I was dying to try, a French 75. It was refreshing and bursting with lemon (in a good way). For my entree I was torn between the short ribs and the bolognese. So I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she strong suggested the bolognese and it did not disappoint! The Blakeney area, which has been going downhill for a while, has been suffering without a good restaurant for several years. Burtons has resurrected and restored the area single handedly (I don't consider 131 Main apart of Blakeney quite frankly), after so many others have tried and failed with restaurant ventures. The menu is supremely good and offers something for everyone no matter the price point. It is a semi-luxury yet casual atmosphere. Their bar area is lively and respectable. I found it remarkably easy to book a reservation online. Their staff is excellent and friendly and go out of their way to accommodate guests. My date and I had an excellent dinner. Their drinks, apps, salads, sides, steaks, bowls, and burgers are amazing. All ingredients are fresh and well-prepared. And because I highly respect restaurant workers, they received a fat tip. If you are looking for a reasonable price-point for excellent food on a date or with family and friends, this is a profound option. read more

The first order of asparagus was not hot as requested but the corrected it with a new serving which was also delicious. Our waitress was very nice. The place was hopping. I love this place. The staff is truly amazing and the food never disappoints. Went in today for their happy hour snacks and was pleasantly surprised to find the new fall menu items were available. We tried the tomato au gratin and the shrimp one, I wish I would remember what it's called. Words can't explain how absolutely delicious they were. The goat cheese on the tomato au gratin gave it a delicious tangy bright note while the shrimp had little pieces of feta cheese which were crumbly yet creamy, making it a perfect bite.
