If you like an old-school burger, this is the place. Looks like a typical fast-food joint but the quality is first-rate. I did ask one of the ladies who works there what makes the burgers so yummy and she replied the meat is never frozen and the patties are all made by hand, i.e. they don't buy pre-made frozen patties. The food is very good as is the service. Prices have really gone up though and considering it's a twenty minute (one way) drive, I'm not sure I'll make a special trip very often. A Green chili cheeseburger with fries and drink for $20, and the burger wasn't large or a double. read more

Friendly cashier took our order, repeating it back to us to be sure it was correct. It was! Our server was polite and efficient. A very nice young man. The "tots" liked their tot burgers, and the adults liked their burgers too - tasty! Two of us thought they were a little over cooked - the juices were pressed out of them. French fries were crispy, and chips were crunchy. We were there around 1PM and it was busy. It was getting busier when we left at 1:45PM. Locals know this is a better burger place. We rarely make it over to the east side of the mountains so when we found ourselves near Edgewood close to lunchtime, I whipped out the Yelp app. Burger Boy had some of the top reviews so we picked it with no preconceived idea of what we were in for. And it was a trip! The place was packed (nabbed the last parking space, and you place your order just inside the front door, which created a giant cluster of people trying to enter, leave, and order. But everyone was gracious and patient and the gentleman taking the orders (the owner??) knew his stuff. He took our order and payment in record time and chatted up my seven year old son like a pro. The food came out about 6-7 minutes after we ordered. My husband got chicken nuggets (which he said were so-so), my son had the hot dog and "smiley" fries (which he polished off) and I had the world's best green Chile cheeseburger and onion rings. We shared a large chocolate shake which was also top notch. The other owner delivered our meals, gave us free refills on sodas and even gave us 3 chocolate chip cookies on the House! My son and I ate at Burger Boy on the way to Albuquerque...it was so good! I got the green chili cheeseburger (my first ever) and loved it! The burger pattie had a nice crust, the bun was toasted perfectly and the green Chili's added a nice flavor. The fries were really crispy too. Fun little local find in the east mountains. We met some family here for a brunch and we really enjoyed our meal and experience. The staff is beyond friendly and makes an effort to get to know everyone. It felt like eating at my grandma's house for dinner. I have always been told this place was good and worth the drive..... I would have to disagree. I understand prices have gone up. What a great little neighborhood place! I live in the east mountains for 10 years now and never made it to this place until now. I am glad I did on Labor Day. It was packed with a line that wouldn't end for hours. The tiny kitchen delivered burgers of all kinds after burgers. They also have many other dishes to choose from. I had the buffalo burger with everything in it and Swiss cheese. It was just right! They have sittings outside in the front and back of the joint. They have been here 38 years and it's a family business. Hope they stay for a lot longer, I'll visit again. read more

Specialty drinks can be pricey. Staff is wonderful and went out of there way to help. We can eat inside now, which makes it all the better. One heckuva tasty lil mom n pop burger joint nestled along the forested hwy 14 in Cedar Crest. We arrived around 12:30 on a Sunday afternoon after a morning of pinon picking nearby...the place was full, Cowboys vs. Ravens on screen, pictures posted throughout of famous folk who've visited this fine establishment, service with a smile and the sweet staff continued to check on us throughout the meal. Had read about this place on Trip Advisor forum, so happy to have stopped in. was on the way home from Santa Fe and decided to take the Turquoise Trail instead of I25. we split orders with a Bacon BBQ burger and a smothered burrito. both were excellent. homemade sauces and ground meat made in-house makes everything here unique! You kind of have to be lucky to eat here. I've driven by a few times at what would seem to be normal operating hours for a restaurant, but it's sometimes not open. For that reason, I consider eating at Burger Boy something of a crap shoot in terms of hours. In terms of food, it's consistently awesome. I usually get the double green chile cheeseburger and an iced tea. It's under $10 and really fills you up. On nice weather days, I try to sit outside, but sometimes the counter space is available. Usually this place is kinda busy, so you're jockeying for space, and waiting in line. Locals love this place, and tourists get drawn in by the old school look of it on the outside. Definitely worth popping into if you time it right and have some hunger. read more

The burgers that come off the well seasoned flat top are absolutely perfect (the green chile cheeseburger is one of the best in the state). This little local owned gem is a must eat. If your going to the crest on a scenic drive or hell just hungry make a short trip to Cedar Creat and have a mind blowing burger. I was unable to try the green chili cheese burger or a milkshake. I believe this may launch them to the extra star. Also on the menu is a fried pork loin sandwich. These are a Midwest thing and are quite delicious if prepared correctly. Needless this is a rare find out west but especially in NM! It isn't often that I eat a burger so good that I'm sad when it's gone. Burger Boy is a small, family owned spot in Cedar Crest... And it's a diamond in the rough! I had a cheeseburger with onion rings, hubby had a cheese burger with fries. The burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly, the cheese was melty cheesy goodness, the onion rings had the perfect batter to onion ratio, crunch factor, and flavor profile. I only had a couple of the hub's french fries but they were exactly the way I like them- crunchy and not too salty. We aren't out east too often, but we'll be back Burger Boy. A LOT of black pepper on the patty. I'm ok with a hint of black pepper, this was too much. The bun fell apart on the bottom due to too much ketchup. I don't mind a seasame bun, but what about people who can't have seasame seeds due to allergies or diverticulitis? I didn't like the shredded lettuce on the burger. It's just too messy. Tomato slice was too thick. The fries were tasteless & mushy. Tried the ice cream cones as we saw 2 other people w/them & they looked good with a generous portion of ice cream. Another NOPE. They weren't creamy, it was ice milk. YUCK. I ended up tossing it after just not having the ability to stomach it any longer. The iced tea....I don't know what brand they use but it's horrible. Tasteless yet bitter. Save yourself & go to the restaurant next to The Golden Triangle or The Golden Triangle grocery store & get a sandwich at their deli/bakery department. About as "home spun" as you can get and good food. The folks are just as friendly as the atmosphere. I love the burgers and if "the boys" are at the grill, I can get mine juicy and greasy (for me that's NOT a negative). You can order yours any way you like. Best burgers in the East Mountains!
