Came to Burger-Chan for lunch on Sunday and FINALLY got to try it! They recently took over the old Be More Pacific space right on Yale, which is a super convenient spot for me so obviously I had to go. When you walk in, they have little clipboards where you basically build your own burger. You mark everything you want on a piece of paper, hand it to them at the counter, and they ring you up. Kinda fun honestly lol. For my burger, I went with two 2 oz patties (smash burger style). They also have a 5 oz regular burger option but I had to go smash. I got it on the sweet sourdough bun and added bacon, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, grilled mushrooms, ketchup, mustard, and pickles. Yes, I know I added basically everything... I CANNOT explain how good this burger was. The bun was slightly sweet and paired perfectly with the savory meat. The patties were seasoned really well and all the grilled toppings were sooo good. I definitely overloaded mine so towards the end it was completely falling apart in my hands, which was annoying...but worth it. We also shared an order of fries, and they were perfectly crispy and seasoned really well. For two smash burger (one double and one triple) with extra toppings plus fries and one drink, it came out to ~$40. Definitely pretty steep for burgers BUT I think they're worth it. I will 100% be back!! Are they better than Trill Burgers or Burger Bodega? That's hard to compare...but Burger-Chan is definitely up there. read more

I've got to finally try eating at Burger-chan during their $5 Chan Burger special and it wasn't bad. I loved the crispy textures of the two smashed patties between the slice of cheese and the scallion sauce made it very interesting. Only issue was the beef was a bit over-seasoned and I could practically feel my kidney crying for more water. For the drink, I got myself a sticky toffee milkshake because they didn't have horchata. I thought it was a bit odd they didn't fill the whole cup, at least try to hide it a bit with more whipped cream, but at least it was a classic thick milkshake because who wants a watered down milk drink. Still, at these prices at least have a pretense of generosity! I was pretty disappointed they didn't have sidewinder fried either and they had curly fries instead. It was okay, not better than Arby's, and it should've definitely came with some sauce because ketchup doesn't seem to do curly fries justice with it being spiced. At least Arby's gives you a ton of various sauces and I don't even know of I like Arby's! Anyway, it's a cute concept and looking at the burger menu, they have some great food. Just need to polish up on the execution and actually have the items that they list on their menu (or mark it as unavailable for the day)! read more

I got a burger patty on a bed of lettuce instead of a bun and boy was it delicious. The patty is cooked to perfection, I don't know what kind grill they use but the sear/cook is just better than other burger places. You have to see it in person to understand. I like that you can customize the burgers too, they have some pretty unique options. Sweet potato fries are also killer, crisp and delicious. Ambiance has a lot of slightly obnoxious AI propaganda--err, I mean art. It's still a nice place nevertheless, and always clean and well-kept. When entering you complete an "order form" for what you want and you are un control of listing out how you want the burger (or anything else) built! From your bun choice, to the number of burger patties, to what you want on it...amd don't forget your sides...Will that be tater tots? Fries? Or something else? They offer lots of options beyond just burgers. Thirsty? Burger Chan is offering more than sodas, but beer, wine and cocktails! Service is friendly, the restaurant is bright, colorful and fun. For my order, I went with a blueberry, strawberry lemon-drop...so good!! Perfectly made and a nice touch with my double patty burger and tater tots! Shout out to Cheryl who made our first time ar Burger Chan such a delight! She walked us through how to order and was such a sweetheart by checking in us at our table. Everything was delicious! I'd heard so many great things about Burger-chan, so I was excited to finally try their new Heights location now that it's a little more convenient than the original Galleria spot. I ordered the signature Burger-chan to go after briefly considering the spicy burger, but was told you really can't go wrong with their classic. I'll be honest....I left a little disappointed. The burger was good, but the overall flavor profile just wasn't quite for me, and I found myself wishing there was a bit more beef. It almost felt like the focus was on all of the toppings and combinations rather than the burger itself. The restaurant had a great vibe, and the staff was friendly, so I can absolutely see why people enjoy it. I'm a little behind on my Yelp reviews, but I've now been to more than 14 burger spots around Houston, and while this was a solid burger, it doesn't crack the top of my personal list. That said, I'm definitely planning to come back and try a different burger because I think another combination might be a better fit for my tastes. read more

Burger Chan opened their second location in the heights and it proves to be just as good as their first location. You have the choice to customize your burger/chicken/turkey/dog/falafel the way you want it or you can choose a signature burger. Since they're fairly new and building their team, expect some wait time and/or small errors. I believe they'll get things running smoothly soon. I customized my own burger - two 2oz. patties, pepper jack cheese, onion strings, lettuce, tomato on sweet sourdough. It was seasoned and made just right, not overcooked. I asked for scallion aioli and sambal mayo on the side so I could control the amount of sauce. Ordered sweet potato fries, however it was in the fryer too long. Did not quite enjoy eating burnt fries. I love black sesame and glad that they offer it as a shake flavor. They have a full bar and there is happy hour 3-6pm daily. Parking can be limited during peak times. There is street parking available if the lot is full. Will definitely return for their burgers. I'll have to try their other items sometime. Hoping that when I return, the wait time and service will have improved. read more

They have a bar inside and a patio to hang out at. It's on the corner where be more specific use to be. When you walk inside you go to the right and there will be some papers on a clipboard. Each paper has a different type of burger protein to customize. There was beef, chicken, falafel, turkey, and more. You could just order at the counter as well. The papers are probably to make it easier on the cashier when it's slammed. The menu only Shows a few speciality burgers on there. They also sell drinks and fries which it Shows on the little order papers but not on the overhead menu. I tried the spicy! It had Serrano peppers and jalapeños, if you like spicy and can handle the heat you won't be disappointed with the flavors from this. The other burger I tried was the burger Chan which is their original burger. I'd say this is more of a traditional burger that doesn't have any additional flavors. Just their simple original burger with thousand island dressing. It was a bit dry so I used their peri peri condiment and that was so spicy and flavorful. I just wanted to take some of this to go. The fries were basic nothing to rave about but also nothing to complain about. You just don't get a bunch of fries but it's a good portion for one person. They also had tater tots. read more

I love the concept of this restaurant! You get to customize your burger as soon as you walk in with your individual order form and clipboard. It makes ordering very easy as you can see what all the options are. The food came out and it was hot and delicious and their house made aïoli was bomb! I really loved the original burger Chan in the galleria so I came here to try the heights location. I got the burger which was delicious as usual. The sweet sourdough is def the bun of choice! Def gotta get the scallion aioli. Curly fries were crispy and delicious. I was disappointed in the fish sandwich. They changed the fish from the last time I had it and it was not good. I would not recommend the fish! I came when it was slow so it was nice enjoying my burger in peace and quiet but I could see it getting busy at night and on the weekends. Both my husband and I felt like it was a little on the greasier side and prefer just a smash burger with crispier edges but it was still overall good. We enjoyed the scallion aioli a lot. Burger chan has a fun atmosphere but smells bad. I like how you order with marker and paper to customize your options. I opted for the larger beef patty, and I'm glad I chose that one. I thought the burger and hot dog were both good, although overpriced. I liked the sweet potato fries, while the tater tots had a strange-tasting spice on them. Their water from the machine has a strong chemical taste. They have a patio by the side of a busy road and a surprising number of drinks on their menu. read more

Well I placed an order. When I arrive I went to pick up my the cashier didn't see the order and asked if it was placed to the correct location, it was. I showed her the notification. Then I got a notification that said my order was canceled. And I'm like, my order was just cancelled. And she goes talk to the manager. The manager comes out and denies cancelling the order. Then blames DoorDash since the orders are through DoorDash. But then is like, we can get the order done right now. Great, now I have to wait as if I didn't place an order since their system is broken... wonderful... And the cashier is like how much discount should I put in (because of this inconvenience) and the manager is like "no discount since we didn't mess it up". The food here is really good and I like this particular location's setup. I will say though, ordering can be PAINFULLY slow. If there is a line, yikes. We went the other day and only two groups were ahead of us but it took about 10-15 minutes before we were able to order. That was a serious test of our patience. Hopefully it was a one time thing and due to the particular worker at the counter because it kind of deterred me from returning to this location. The food did take a bit to come out, too, but that's understandable considering everything is so fresh. We enjoy the food here but I personally prefer the W Alabama location. read more

One of the better burgers I have had in Houston by far! The smash burger was tasty and the sourdough bun was unique and added a lot to the burger. The fries were also delicious and crispy. We've always loved burger-chan. This location is beautiful both inside and out. Too bad it was over 100 degrees or we would have loved to sit at the welcoming patio. We got the chan-burger (special that day), falafel burger and fries. I wasn't planning on having fries, but after having one, I couldn't stop. They were some of the best fries I've ever had. I ordered a burger on rye bread with onion strings, and cheddar cheese, a side of tater tots. You have to wait a bit for the food, but when it came out, it was clearly fresh cooked, and hot. The meat was very good and overall everything was good. I would not order the onion strings with cheese because the cheese flavor was somewhat obscured. The rye bread was excellent. The tater tots were advertised as spicy that I found them to be good, but not really spicy. I don't think I would order them again. The only iced tea they have is sweetened. read more
