Chill, laid-back spot with a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to unwind. The food is solid--nothing overly fancy, but well-prepared and satisfying, with enough variety to keep things interesting. Service is friendly and unpretentious, which fits the overall vibe of the place. The view is a real highlight and adds a lot to the experience, especially if you're there around sunset or during good weather. It's the kind of place you can sit back for a while, enjoy your meal, and not feel rushed to leave. Overall, a great casual spot for a low-key meal with a nice setting.

We were looking for a new burger spot and decided to stop at the Burger Deck based on the high rating. However for 9pm on a Friday night, this place was dead. Still, we decided to give it a chance. I had a pretty negative initial reaction when we first got there. Not only was the staff initially quite rude, but there were also multiple cockroaches in the deck area that gave us the heebie jeebies. I imagine it is a nice spot during the day when the sun is shining, as it looks out west towards the airport. The food at least somewhat made up for the sour initial experience. We got the Deck, the Baja Deck and the truffle fries. It had good flavor but was also extremely greasy. However for the price it's quite reasonable. Skip the milkshake though. It's prepackaged and mixed with water, not worth the $8

The burger doesn't look like much, but it's absolutely delicious! I ordered the Baja Deck, which comes with a single smash patty, cheddar cheese, thick-cut bacon, fresh jalapeño, butter lettuce, vine-ripened tomato, and chipotle mayo. The fries are crispy and taste like they've been seasoned with salt. To order, you go to a window, and it's usually pretty quick from ordering to food delivery. Seating is outdoor, and the good news is that San Diego's weather is nearly perfect year-round, so you can enjoy your burger outdoors. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for a smash burger.

Absolutely delicious. Only drawback is the parking and the stairs. The burgers are amazing. The fries are crispy and coated. Love the truffle fries. The food came out quick and hot! Service was good! The meat to bun ratio is absolute perfection. The cheese was melted perfectly. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Grilled onions is a must! Love that they have all outdoor seating. There's also a bathroom and it's needed. The burgers are all messy in the best way possible.

Delicious burgers, fries and ambiance! The food is fresh and fast. Service was great. They have a lovely patio outside with a great view!

This has got to be one of the best burgers in SD! It's located above Rubicon Deli. It's a little rooftop deck area with some picnic tables and bar seating. The service is fast and really nice and friendly! This was a huge burger! I got the double cheeseburger with bacon, avocado and grilled onions. I love my smash burger seared with a little bit of crunch. It was seasoned perfectly and hit the spot! The potato bun was soft on the inside and crispy on the edges. I got the truffle fries which were so good! I like the skinny fries because they're crispier. It had the perfect amount of truffle to it. My kiddo said it was the best burgers she's ever had. She mixed the Swiss with American with a side of fries. They serve milkshakes, glass sodas, fountain drinks, and beer on tap. I'll definitely be back to satisfy those burger cravings!

Burger Deck is one of my favorite smash burger places. It's located off of Washington St off the 5 fwy and finding parking isn't too difficult. There is outdoor seatings with umbrella on a deck just like its name. To order at the counter, usually need to ring the bell to call for someone as it could take a while to take your order but the food comes out pretty quick. There is a self-serve water station with cups and 4 different sauce options. The burgers are pretty good. I appreciate the butter lettuce used for the smash burgers. However for the lettuce wrapped burger, they left the stump on the romaine lettuce which I thought was odd. The fries can be a bit too salty for the shoestring fries. Anyhow, this isn't a big deal and would be back.

The guy was kind of quiet. Not much expression or talking but I could tell he was being nice. Food was good. I just wasn't sure about the pricing at $12-13. +$5 for combo of fries and soda on any burger.

Burger Deck is located on the rooftop of Rubicon Deli. I chose the Dirty Deck and he ordered the Baja Deck (double smash). We also got a side of onion rings and some dirty fries. The smash burgers were very filling and flavorful! The onion rings were delicious and crispy. The fries came with chopped beef patty, pickles, pickled onions, smothered in deck sauce. It was too loaded for me haha! I think I'd rather get some truffle fries next time!

If you want a good smash burger no a great smash burger this is your place! While the menu is on the smaller side as is a burger chain all you need is a few options. There's burgers are so juicy, caramelized onions toasted buns and based on what burger you pick different sauce and other options. All burger meals are served with shoe string fries. Their deck top where you sit to eat is so peaceful and nice. Before we leave San Diego we are hitting this spot again. Oh and by the way they do have a happy hour !!!

I visited for my first time yesterday to try a happy hour beer. I was very surprised by their Candy IPA, so good! Ordered the buffalo fries which came with chicken & bacon, mmmm. The deck was a bit loud with the noise from I/5, but you have a small view of the Airport, and you're drinking a tasty brew and yummy eats, so don't complain! Laylonie was SO friendly, describing the variety of beers, and letting me sample them. She was an absolute JOY! I will return very soon & hope to be a regular!

Pros: I got the half-pound burger with fries and it was really good overall. The burger was super juicy, well-cooked, and had that classic hearty, satisfying taste you want from a solid burger spot. The portion size was generous, especially with the half-pound patty, and the fries were a great side to round out the meal. The location in Pacific Beach is also a big plus. It's in a great area with lots going on, so it's easy to grab food and walk around afterward or make it part of a beach day. The overall vibe of the spot feels casual and fitting for PB--nothing overly fancy, just good comfort food done right. Cons: Since it's in a busy beach area, parking and crowds can be a bit of a challenge depending on the time you go. It's more of a casual grab-and-go or quick dine-in spot, so don't expect a sit-down restaurant experience with a lot of space or quiet seating. During peak beach hours, it can also get pretty busy. Verdict: Overall, Rocky's Burgers is a great spot in Pacific Beach if you're craving a juicy, satisfying burger in a fun beachside area. The half-pound burger and fries hit the spot, and it's a solid choice for a casual meal before or after hanging out in PB.

Next were the tots, they were a HUGE portion (which I would've appreciated in the burger) and covered in what I can only imagine was that fake nacho cheese in a can. soggy and disappointing. The tots by themselves were delicious and crispy, but covered in the cheese they end up soggy and falling apart. They also rotate fun milkshake specials, and when I visited they had an Apple Pie Milkshake that sounded really good. I just wasn't in the mood for something sweet that day. I kept it simple and ordered the Single Onion Burger ($13.95) with mayo, ketchup, and lettuce, plus an order of the Original Fries ($5.75). The onion burger is made with fresh ground beef that's smashed with onions on the grill, and you can customize it with toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, jalapeños, cheese, mustard, and ketchup at no extra charge. Bacon is available for an additional charge. The restaurant itself was really clean, and I appreciated the self-serve condiment station stocked with ketchup, spicy ketchup, ranch, plenty of hot sauces, and to-go containers. The fries ended up being my favorite part of the meal. They're fresh cut and double fried, coming out piping hot with a crispy exterior and fluffy center. The portion was also super generous. They packed so many fries that they were spilling outside of the container into the bag. Paired with the ranch and spicy ketchup, they were honestly worth ordering on their own. The burger was a little more disappointing. The patty was overcooked, which made it pretty dry. You could even tell by the color that it had spent a little too much time on the grill. Since I usually keep my burgers pretty simple, there wasn't much to balance out the dryness, so I found myself dipping almost every bite into extra ketchup and ranch just to add some moisture. I can definitely see why Duke's is a neighborhood favorite, and I still like the concept behind their onion burgers. It just didn't completely satisfy the burger craving I walked in with. I'd come back for the fries without hesitation, and I'd be willing to give the burger another shot hoping I caught them on an off day.
