Burger House is a burger joint in Dallas that is more than a restaurant, it's a Dallas landmark that is part nostalgic, part historic, and 100% delicious. Come here if you want to enjoy a classic burger made the same way it has been for over 70 years. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Burger House has a window you walk up to and order from, just like from an old school burger stand. Because that's how it began. If you look up, you can see the original roof from the stand, except now a new ceiling and climate-controlled AC has been added to keep you from melting in the Dallas heat. 1 Star. Service - The staff is friendly and old school. Your order is handwritten on a paper pad, and you can see the staff in the kitchen work on a well-seasoned (more on this later) flattop. Once you order, you grab a bench and wait for them to call your name. Fast, efficient, friendly. 1 Star. Food - What makes Burger House stand out is the seasoned salt they use on the burger and fries. While you can order cheese fries, I urge you to order the seasoned fries so you can really taste the seasoning. It's more than salt, it has a light, smoky and mildly spicy flavor to it. I'm not sure what it's made of, but you can buy a bottle to take home. The same seasoning is used on the burger to give it a nice flavor, and my cheeseburger had a juicy patty with a perfectly melted slice of American cheese on it on a nice bed of shredded lettuce, grilled onions, and mustard. For some reason I have a feeling it takes the same as it did back in the fifties. Add a root beer float to you order and complete your travel back in time. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. The Burger House near SMU is the OG and a Dallas institution. There are other restaurants that make better burgers, but none of them are both classic and historic. Burger House is and I will be back. 1 Star.

I visited this location in Dallas near Mockingbird, and while the service was fast, friendly, and my order was correct, there were a few issues. The onion rings had an overwhelming, harsh seasoning that was overpowering, making them difficult to enjoy. After trying two, I ended up discarding the rest. The sandwich was quite dry with very few condiments, which made it less enjoyable. Considering the meal cost around $15 and I arrived right when the restaurant opened for fresh food, I was disappointed with the overall experience. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this location.

5/5! Food was so good that we had to get seconds! Service was courteous and quick Ambiance was rustic, old school and quaint but intimate enough for a day-date. I will be back again.

The service was super quick, and the burger was made fresh. When we're in the area and craving a nice and simple burger, this will undoubtedly be our spot. Also, shout out to The Daytripper on YouTube - this is how we found this gem.

In the area, heard about Burger House, I was hungry Parking a little tricky, but we were there about lunch 12:15. Got a bacon cheeseburger, fries, shake All great ,,, fries have a nice, but not over whelming coating spice. Shake was great! If in the area would go back. Inside seating area, has plenty of ceiling fans.

My gf and I were craving a real burger. You know, the old throw it on a griddle Mom and Pop type burger? Well, after reading through several burger spot reviews, we decided to give Burger House a visit and I'm glad we did! Upon arriving, the building and signage immediately felt nostalgic. A walk up window leading into to a small dining area with a few benches inside and a decent sized patio out back. The black menu with white letters situated up front is clear and gives you a good selection of burgers, chicken sandwiches and all things comfort. The guy at the counter was nice and took our order promptly. We ordered a double cheeseburger, single cheeseburger, cheese fries, regular fries, onion rings, strawberry shake and root beer. Food is cooked to order so after about 15 mins, our food was up. Everything was perfectly positioned, fresh and hot. The fries and onion rings have this house seasoning which appears to be a mixture of salt, pepper and maybe a little garlic or onion powder. It's pretty tasty but I can be a bit overpowering. Next time I'd proudly ask for light or no seasoning. The shake was delicious and the root beer was cold and bubbly as it should be. We loved this place and of you're looking for a solid burger spot, you will too

Time warp burger place looks like the 50s cause it's from the 50s. The fries are pretty good and the burgers are hey burgers. Worth coming for the experience

Very good burger!! It is more of a pick up place than a sit down ambiance, but everything was delicious and quick service. I will definitely be back!

Popped in here for a quick bite on my way to the airport. Very cool spot that feels like a local hidden gem that has some local history. Reminds me of an old school high school kid ran burger joint. Service was fantastic and was so friendly and appreciative. Loved the guys behind the counter. This is a no frills environment. Expect either a grab and go or enjoy the limited picnic bench seating. I ordered the double cheeseburger with everything on it and their famous fries. The portion of these fries is enough for 2 people. The food was delicious and can't wait to make my way back.

A great classic burger spot. This is the original location that's been opened since 1951. The environment is authentic and comfortable and everyone there was happy to be there. Great for a family dinner or casual date night. The staff we ordered from was friendly and efficient. The double cheeseburger was juicy with the perfect combination of flavors. The fry seasoning was so tasty. The chocolate shake tastes like a classic favorite. Love it!!

I hadn't intended to have lunch here but got stuck in an endless construction loop detour so, decided to relieve the stress and calm the oncoming hanger. This original location opened in 1951 and it is almost unchanged. The food is probably unchanged from that time also. This is a classic old-school burger joint that is going, going gone. As a matter of fact, it is hard to believe they have survived here this long. Their postage stamp size piece of real estate is worth a fortune and I wouldnt be surprised if its gone any day. So, Im glad I stopped here and enjoyed a cheeseburger all the way. The "Famous Seasoned Fries" are way too salty which I had forgotten. Don't misunderstand, they are delicious but, I don't eat this much salt anymore so avoid the fries if you don't want heavy salt!!! I also enjoyed a chocolate malt which was superb in the fashion of back in the day. If you havent checked out an old place in a while or need grounding in some childhood memories of simpler times (and prices) check out Burger House. You wil be glad you did Go

Great food! Made fresh on the spot!! Just wish I had more drink with my meal

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt.
