Simple and to the point. Smash burgers your way, with tots or fries. Only thing I'd consider adding to the menu is milkshakes or malts to complete the classic diner vibe. There's enough tables to dine in, but it seems like a lot of their traffic is to-go orders; if you decide to dine in, they will bring your food to you. Both of the ladies at the counter taking orders were friendly and patient, which was refreshing.

Comfortable clean and simple interior. Very nice.

Great burgers, friendly service, and a fun old-school vibe. This was my first visit to Herby's. It's a little off the beaten path but easy to find. The place has a modern feel with a nostalgic burger joint atmosphere. They've trimmed a few frills--like skipping a soda machine--to keep things simple and affordable, which honestly just adds to the charm. I had the Herby Burger (just bread, cheese, and a smash patty), a small dog, and tots. Everything was simple, delicious, and spot-on. I'll definitely be back.

Delicious OG Smashburger! Some people, particular men, might find the OG Smashburger on the small side. But I thought it was perfect. I assume you could always make it a double if you want it a little more substantial. The only thing that could make this place better is if they had fountain drinks, and hand cut fries. But I loved that they had squirt ketchup on the tables! Burger was amazing, would highly recommend!

I had been to Olmo Market next door and then we took a sentimental trip around Elmwood (I love Oak Cliff) when we decided we were hungry. Herby's fragrance hits the street and that grilled beef smell is pretty darn enticing. Then there's that startling yellow paint job. That will get your attention. Also, Herby, as it turns out, is an adorable dog that belongs to the owner of this popular place. So, I was ready to check it out. This is counter order/table service. I had questions about the cooking of the burger and Jake Saenz, the Chef, took time to assure me my pattie wouldn't be "burnt." And it wasn't. He was a very engaging man. Herby's has a short but loving menu of OG single and double smashburgers, a plain smash, the Herby dog, grilled cheese, chopped cheese, a patty melt, Tater Tots, Fries and lots of add ons for all items. My husband and I both ordered OG smashburgers. Me, a single ($10); him, a double ($12). And I am a pickle fan. I love them. Extra pickles were 50 cents. We also ordered the spicy seasoned Tater Tots, a full size order that is certainly enough for three people. ($5) Cheese Tots are $7. We took a booth that had autographed photos and very clean surroundings. Plants. There was an amazing B&W mural covering an entire wall. The much ballyhooed jukebox appeared to be out of order, but the mix on speaker was terrific. My husband is a big time carnivore. The addition of a pattie was perfect for him. The smashburger comes with American Cheese, pickles and grilled onions on a regular smashed hamburger bun. The meat was tender and the onions delicious. I am still a mustard girl, too, but they have mustard packets available and catsup on the table. The excellent Sriracha Mayo sauce that comes on the burger, we got on the side. We ate it with the Tater Tots, too. The Tater Tots were perfectly cooked and the spicy seasoning really tasty, but eventually the salt level started to wear on me. Not so my husband. We took half the Tots home. It's a very generous serving! I have to tell you up front that because the pickles were served hot inside my burger, this turned out not to be my favorite burger. My "thing" is cool lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and warm grilled onions. They don't serve tomatoes here although they do have lettuce. But it hadn't occurred to me that the pickles might be hot. Just saying, if you like your pickles cold, ask for them on the side. I did notice they have a chopped cheese here - where the pattie is chopped up and cooked together with onions and other ingredients on the grill and served in a hoagie. I would like to try one of those. ($11) And patty melts! Yes! So good. ($7) The waitstaff was lovely. Friendly. Helpful. The booth seating is very private. Bathrooms are thoughtful. Well designed. Clean. Parking might be a stretch depending on what's going on in the coffee shop or Olmo Market. It's street parking. Fun place!!

Next door to Olmo Market is the dopest little burger shop with great vibes and juicy eats. This is Herby's Burgers. Right from the jump, Herby's is bright and cheerful with signed pictures of famous Dallasites on the walls. Classic R&B hits bellow from the jukebox and an impressive mural that pays homage to what makes Oakcliff the star of South Dallas. A simple menu of all things beef burgers, dogs, fries, and tots, you honestly can't go wrong. The customer service is on point and everything is made to order. Mr. Blasingame ordered a traditional smash burger that delivered on all fronts. Well seasoned fresh beef, cheese, fresh lettuce, tomatoe, grilled onions, pickles and sauce on a soft grilled bun is a burger done right! Your Gluten-Free Goddess ordered a chopped cheese on an order of fries(they do offer GF buns, but were out at the time). Even with a half order, the portion was more than enough for 2 people! Spicy, chopped beef, melty cheese, lettuce, sauteed onions, and sauce over seasond fries that were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle! Bliss If your out in Oakcliff, grab a bite at Herby's!! Check it out!

We tried this place for lunch recently and had a great experience. The 90's nostalgia came rushing back as soon as you walk in the door. So many memories from my childhood, from the VHS tapes to the McNugget toys. The staff were friendly and informative for our first time. She gave great recommendations. We tried the OG smash, the Herby smash, regular fries and the cheese tots. The smash burgers had great flavor. We really liked the sriracha mayo. The queso tots were excellent. The fries were seasoned perfectly. We had a great meal and can't wait to come back.

Tried Herby's at a pop-up over the weekend. They had their set up outside and the people manning the grill and register were super kind and fun. They had a limited menu and were able to make me and my sister a delicious grilled cheese. Herby's focuses on diner/classic menu and quality ingredients that make the finished product burst with flavor. 100% the best grilled cheese ever with perfectly caramelized onions and toasty buns. The grilled cheese and a beer was the perfect late night pairing and I can't wait to drop by their store in person!

The OG smash was good but where is the meat. For the price I would expect more food. I am not full.

I got the OG smash and yes, it was a smash burger, which means thin, crispy edges and the kind of flavor that makes you forgive humanity for a few minutes. The sauce was on point, but I found myself wishing for more grilled onions and pickles. Apparently, I like my toppings with commitment issues. The fries were well seasoned and basically saved the day since the burger alone was not quite enough. Think of them as the dependable sidekick who carries the whole superhero movie. The place itself is very low-key. Classic burger joint vibes, plenty of seating, and no need to hover awkwardly by the soda machine waiting for a table. Service was friendly, which always makes me suspicious, but in this case I'll allow it. Final verdict: Solid burger, great sauce, excellent fries. Order extra onions and pickles if you believe in living without regrets.

Finally made it in here for my first burger. Rely cute old timey vibe without being grungy. The folks behind the counter were super friendly and helpful with their recs. Food came out timely and hot. Everything was delish and i will most decidedly be back to try more things!! I got the og smash with cheese fries.

Exceptional service. Best neighborhood burger joint, you will love the vibe. The food is 100% amazing. Stop by and support a fantastic local business. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I found this place after going to another store in the same area. It was a cute little old school restaurant. They had a jukebox. I hadn't seen one is years and it just made me so happy to see it. The music was so good. I ordered takeout so I wasn't there long but enjoyed it. I ordered the Herby Smash and cheese fries. The burger was so good that I ate it before I could take a picture. It was seasoned perfectly. I was not a fan of the cheese fries. I knew it was going to have queso but it was way too thick in my opinion. I tried the fries without the cheese and it was good. I would go back if in the area just for the burger. It was outstanding.

Props to the chef for the OG SMASHBURHER! Absolutely delicious, it has a great crunch, classic toppings, no frills just good burger. Also super sick joint with a WORKING JUKEBOX! Booth seating feels nostalgic, and it's a super clean place. Cool strip of restaurants and coffee shops be sure to walk around and check out Olmo's too. Worth the trip come on out

This unassuming restaurant tucked in a corner of nondescript row of stores has stood the test of time. My first review of the place was in 2013. Here it is 13 years later then it is still going strong. I went for lunch with the family on a snow day. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. No numbers, they just remember who you are. I always get combo number 1 and add sweet potato fries. The prices are great and not much more than McDonalds but the difference in value is significant. The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

The neighborhood may continue to change around it, but Chip's remains the same. My Overall Rating - 4 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Chip's has an old school, nostalgic feel. The restaurant has an iconic sloping roof with a yellow outdoor exterior and a big green sign with its logo. Inside, there are plenty of booths, a bar, and even outdoor seating. Chip's has grown and expanded over the years but to me that adds to the nostalgic charm. 1 Star. Service - Chip's may have invented counter service. Upon entering, you look at the menu posted on the wall and place your order. You'll get a number (or they'll ask for your name), and you grab a table, and when your food is ready it comes out. Fast, efficient, and the staff was super friendly. 1 Star. Food - Chip's is known for its poppy seed hamburger buns. While it's pretty and tasty, the most important part, the patty, is pretty average. Honestly, there are many other great burger joints in Dallas. On the other hand, the fried onion strings are a must order for your side. While I wasn't a fan of the burger, the fried onion strings saved my meal. The Oreo and Fresh Banana shakes were also a nice cold, creamy, sweet ending to my meal. 1 Star. Will I Return? - Yes. I hope Chip's never changes. The restaurant has an iconic look, it's part of Dallas history, and the staff is great. 1 Star.

We ordered the fried mushrooms to start, and they were so hot that one of us severely burned her lower gums on them. Seriously! A prescription from the dentist was sought; mea culpa but damn. Once they were less volcanic, they were good. We split a burger with fried onions, and it was dry. The meat was overbooked, the bun was over toasted, and the whole thing needed plenty of beer to go down smoothly. The fries are fine, and we did appreciate that they had some steamed broccoli on the menu. Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.
