I wasn't sure of what to expect. It's a decent burger that is not a smash burger. I wish there was more flavoring in the burger. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out fries. I prefer them a little bit crispy. The service was quick and easy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I really like the vibes of the space and how they used it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Located behind a red velvet curtain at the Thompson hotel. Behind the curtain is a very causal graffiti filled restaurant with a very chill vibe. Order at the counter, grab a seat and pick up your order when it's ready. Decent prices, very good burgers and friendly service. What more can you ask for?

Wow, I had not been here in over ten years, but I had been in the Industry City location in Brooklyn. It was good there, as I remember, and this was at least as good, but the price tag, $26 bucks with tax for a burger with a sde of fries for lunch, was hard to swallow, and I paid cash. They had since moved and were now in the former Norma's Restaurant space up the stairs from the lobby of the hotel. I had to ask the hotel front desk to direct me. The burger was great as were the thin crispy french fries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The "decor" had not changed, bit these digs are now quite a bit roomier than before.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall a fun experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Burger Joint is basically a burger speakeasy at the Thompson Hotel, and after visiting the one in Singapore years ago (no longer open), I finally made it to the mother store in NYC. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The concept and ambiance were very similar although this location is much larger and has very high ceilings.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's dark and there are no windows, so focus is on the burgers and fortunately, they are very solid.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The burgers start around $14 but they are good sized, perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Staff here is great too, and it was the perfect place for a second supper after a broadway show.

I axxidently found Burger Joint about 18 years ago when I was trying to get in from the cold with my 2 children in tow. It was.i. a different hotel at that time. I went to see the tree with my hubby on January 3rd and remembered the Burger Joint. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I remembered the burgers were delicious 18 years ago and was surprised the decor is the same and the burgers just as delicious[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. It's a bit pricey but we'll worth it. The burgers are tasty and juicy. It's like a fast food place establishment but tastes nothing like fast food. I won't wait another 18 years before returning. Especially now there is one in Brooklyn!

Decided to stop in here for a burger during a recent trip. Had a taste for a really good burger (plant based), the first place that came to mind was the Burger Joint. Soon as I walked into the new location, felt like old times seeing the amazing staff Tee, Jeff, and Mikey! The food is great, despite the prices are insanely higher than the old location. The new location is bigger, can accommodate more people. Just does not have the same nostalgia as the old location. With that being said, I will continue to patronize the Burger Joint, they are a hidden institution that if you know, you knew that was the go to spot, back in the day before hitting the Manhattan club, or bar scene....oh the memories.

Although no longer as hidden as it once was, the burgers and shake at burger joint were excellent. My complaint though is that it was extremely expensive for what it was. 13 dollars for a milkshake is very hard to justify. The food was great but had it not been in our hotel, I would not pay again for this meal because of the pricing.

Talk about a hidden gem! Unless you know, you'd never know even if you were sitting in the lobby. Let me start by saying that I love burgers. I used to eat them 1000 different ways, at least one or two a day. Until 1993, when I stopped eating red meat. About 5 or 10 years ago, I began to allow myself no more than about a pound of red meat a year Now, maybe two or three. So when I eat red meat, it has to be better than good. I was told this is the place for me. I found it behind the red curtains. Shocked at its real existence, and the quirky, bohemian style of the build out, I focused rapidly on the grill. I saw these thick, juicy burgers, and knew that chances were high as to my making the right choice. I ordered a burger, naked, medium rare. In less than 5 minutes, with just a dab of ketchup and mustard, I bit into this little piece of heaven. Perfectly cooked, great texture and flavor, and to top it off, the staff had the best attitudes. Not one, but all of them. I had to spend about 10 minutes chatting with the cooks. The menu was broader than just beef burgers. They have chicken, vegetarian, fries, wine and beer, and more. Menu is in the pics. Don't tell too many about it, but don't miss it. Trust me, it's worth every excuse!

A basic burger that you'd have at your friend's really good summer BBQ. The price doesn't reflect the quality, a lil steep. I got the cheeseburger. The meat is good, but all the toppings and bun are completely average, feel store-bought. You come here for the unique history and vibe. Read the reviews and despite some of the comments had to come check it out. Definitely a hidden , hip vibe in the back of the lobby of a hip hotel. The decor is a throwback to the old CBGB or The Pyramid Club. Graffiti walls and booths along the wall. Here are the stars. The shakes are really great you can't go wrong. The fries both regular and sweet potato are also worth a mention. Here is what is very good..but not the star. The burgers are really good... I would have loved to say great !! But they are worth their price. Nothing here is cheap but comparable to most places in this area. I would definitely go back.... there are many places where you can't get a very good burger for the same price. Also... service is quick and nice.

We had the luxury of staying at The Thompson Central Park in NYC last month and of course had to stop behind the red curtain for a taste of the Burger Joint. Overall? It's a good burger. They have several varieties of burger to choose from and a HUGE bag of french fries exactly as I like them - shoestring and deep fried crispy. But I definitely have had a better burger. It was tasty, and they have Stella Artois on tap (which is always my go to when enjoying a burger)... but it wasn't anything I'd go out of my way to eat again. Thumbs down on the burger bun, which fell apart quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience is fun, with lots of graffiti on the walls of past guests, and the service was fast - although you may have trouble locating a place to sit if you arrive at the wrong time of day.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here because it's the burger place Marshall searched high and low for in "How I Met Your Mother." Loveeee that show. I got the cheeseburger with the works ex. the mayo. Do yourself a favor and order your burger medium rare. It's so juicy and good. A couple people I was with got medium and they were complaining it was too dry. They were giving googly eyes to my juicy dripping burger. We even exchanged bites and you can definitely tell a huge difference. Shared a bag of fries. Yes, a brown paper bag of fries dripping in grease. Washed it all down with a pitcher of Sam Adams. Perfect! read more

I think the "hidden" location really gave this place a lot of boost, as if one discovered a gem. However, when all that fascination is cast aside, the food itself may suddenly appear mediocre. Granted, it is flame broiled, which gave it the necessary flavor advantage over hot plate burgers, but there's little else that stands out. The fries came from frozen packages and it tasted so. The burger is a tad small for the money, and if you love and know your burgers, this may disappoint. The fries can sometimes be cold, and the doneness of the beef patties off, but the staff has always made it right for us when we asked. It's not bad, but I wondered if there shouldn't be more, particularly with all the raves in such a competitive city. read more

the restaurant is hidden by the small narrow dark corridor next to the Le Parker Meridian hotel's main desk. you will see the weird scene that people line on behind the big red curtain. It is one of the popular burger shop in NYC. Bunch of people line on this shop. I got 2 cheese burger combos, one for mine and one for my friend. Somehow, they gave me one regular cheese burger and one double cheese burger. lol Taste was ok. However it wasn't taste like the best burger, but it seems they use all natural veggies and meat. Not like a McDonald's stuff. Also the size is not really big, but french fries have too much amount... like a 1.5 times larger than McDonald's Large size french fries. read more

What you order is what you get. Overpriced cheeseburger loaded with toppings and a large side order of floppy French fries. This drive is hidden behind a maroon curtain at a fancy hotel. We ate here late at night and it hit the spot, but don't be expecting anything high quality! Btw- cash tips only. read more

A little hidden treasure in a big touristy hotel but it's definitely worth the wait to eat at! The decor is very cozy and there are tons of cool movie posters and writing all over the wall from travelers who have ventured through here. Just be ready to order when you reach the cash registar or they will send you back to the end of the line. read more

Was in NYC visiting for the Columbus Day weekend with my boyfriend. He wanted me to take him to places I use to frequent when I lived in NYC a few years. Having not been to NYC in about 5 years, I wanted to take him to Burger Joint to experience the goodness that is known as the best burger in NYC. He was definitely surprised that the Burger Joint sits hidden in the Le Parker Meridian Hotel. Very beautiful hotel with a great bar in the back and great seats...and behind a huge curtain is the Burger Joint. The line wasn't too bad (out the door a bit) but I talked my bf through the process. He got the cheeseburger with "the works" (everything on it) and a beer. I got a hamburger (the works) and a diet coke. The key to finding a good seat is to be mindful of those who are finishing up at their tables when you're in line. Look around and stalk the tables to see who is about to finish their last bite. When they get UP from their seats, have your party go over and reserve the table! Excellent! The wait for the burger wasn't too bad. They pronounced the name wrong but no biggie. Love the expression of my guests that I bring to the Burger Joint as they see all the different celebrities that have come here! There is definitely a "hurry up and eat and finish" mentality with the staff. Understandable though since they have so many people visit this awesome place. Hotel bathrooms are straight out, down the stairs. Very clean! Okay, good bye! read more

When I went the wait wasn't really bad at all so that might make me more receptive to the burger joint. Anyways long story short... good burger, good meat, nice simple toppings.. really forgettable fries, not bad but basically fast food quality...end review. I also would like to comment on how silly this faux hole in the wall joint is. It cleverly gives you the feeling that you're eating somewhere super exclusive and local which is hidden away from prying eyes. Think about it, it's in a fancy ass hotel and is so popular there's dining slips in different languages (which is nice but sort of reveals how faux secret it is). Don't let the grungy decor fool you, the burger joint is clearly part of a well financed and managed operation. Maybe the feeling of eating somewhere "hidden" makes your food taste better but this place hardly qualifies in that respect. That said it's still a fine burger. read more

How often do you find a Burger Joint tucked in a posh hotel? I wouldn't have found it if it wasn't for the subtle neon-sign of a burger! I came here with a crew of five around 10 at night. Seating was packed like sardines in a can, and we felt like a wolf-pack, eyeing for the next available table. I got my cheeseburger, done medium rare. Perfectly delivered, which I give kudos to the chef. However, I wish they seasoned the patty a bit more. The burger wasn't served like gourmet style - it's meant for you to get your fingers really juicy. Also, the fries reminded me of McDonald fries, thin and crispy. The line was not too crazy, but getting a table was frustrating. We also missed the crazy hungry rush that came after us... but I can see how this place can get really crowded during peak hours. Overall, I love the vibe of this joint - cozy and dim-lit. I enjoy reading which celebrities came here and signed the walls. Tagging seems allowed so don't forget to mark your territory with a sharpie. read more

Solid cheeseburger and fries. Nothing more, nothing less. Slightly over-priced ($12), maybe. But perhaps the locale calls for it. The burger doesn't stand out in anyway, but the patty was 3/4" thick and acceptable, did the job, and it probably can taste better with a non-commercial bun. The fries are perfect imo (b/c I love McDonalds fries!) and the people eating next to me were raving about their shakes. I was off to dance class in 45 minutes, so alas I couldn't fit that in... I shaaaaall return! Not a place I'd take my mother to stay, but I'd go with friends if there was a seat, or take it to the park. This shall be my go to when I want to spend $$ on a filling meal. p.s. The entrance is so obscure, you'll miss it. It's behind a curtain, as if you're going to a WC... then voila, the neon sign of enticement! read more

Burger Joint is actually a cool little place hidden (sort of) behind a large curtain near the 56th St entrance of the Parker Meridan hotel. Things to know: *Cash only *Know what you want before you get to the cashier (you'll have plenty of time standing in line to make up your mind...the only thing on the menu is burger and fries so there shouldn't be that much to decide) *Bring a friend who can grab a seat while one of you waits in line *If the line is just out the door, you're looking at about a 20-25 minute wait. Outside they have little ordering cards in French, Spanish and a few other languages but English speakers have to read the menu posted above the cash register. It smells really good in there...and your clothes will smell like burgers by the time you leave. I think that's what makes the burger taste so good...you're smelling the food for so long standing in line that you are salivating by the time you get it. The line moves pretty fast and it's interesting to watch the people. As far as the food goes, it's good. My buddy and I got two burgers, one well done and one medium rare and both were cooked to order. The meat is juicy and flavorful, although the patties seemed kind of small to me. I liked the French Fries a lot. They were thin, hot, crisp and salty. I passed on a milkshake figuring I'd get enough calories from the burger and fries. They only have one size drink and I thought the cup was a little small. Overall, this is a neat place with decent food. Finding it and standing in line are part of the experience and I'd probably take friends from out of town there so they could check it out. I'd go back if there wasn't much of a line. The food was good but I'm kind of impatient so I don't think there is much food worth standing in line for for a half an hour. It's a fun place with satisfying food so it's worth visiting. read more

Right when you step into the Meridian hotel, you can take some whiffs of burgers being cooked to the side. It seems as if the two venues aren't even connected, as the hotel looks posh and you see a random corner that looks like a divey burger...joint. This place is filled with tourists, and their menus outside are translated to French, Japanese, Spanish, etc. You can't even get an English menu until you step inside. Hamburger/cheeseburger, choose how you'd like it cooked, and what toppings. Two burgers cost about $16, and they were tasty, but not as good as Shake Shack, which offers more toppings and is just that much juicier. If tourists need a place to eat a burger, they need to get informed about Shake Shack instead. But then again, this place is always packed, so maybe they can divert the crowds elsewhere. read more

For me, Burger Joint is the best burger that I've had in a long, long time. There's only two options - a hamburger with or without cheese. I love burger places that are no-frills and all business. You don't have to worry about what kind of cheese or what kind of sauce. All you need to worry about is how you want your burger patty cooked. There isn't a lot of space but if you have more than one person in your party, designate one person to find a table while the others order. Best plan. My burger was cooked just right and had just the right amount of oil and grease. The fries needed a bit more salt but it was still some good old-fashioned fries. read more

Hidden behind a thick, red luxurious drape in Le Parker Meridien is the Burger Joint. By the looks of this fancy schmancy hotel, you'd never know that there'd be a hole in the wall tucked inside. Once inside the hotel, however, it's impossible to ignore the delicious smell of what's on the grill. Follow the scent and your nose will take you right to it! I got a medium-rare burger with "the works". It was everything a good burger should be: juicy, well-seasoned, and complimented with a fluffy bun and fresh, crunchy lettuce, tomato, onions and pickle slices. We went around 6:00pm on a Wednesday and didn't have to wait that long. Service was fairly fast. Seating is on a self-serve basis, and we managed to score a booth without waiting either. Cash only. Solid burger joint. Top three I've been to in NYC. 3.5 stars. read more

Food 5 stars Service 5 stars if you know what you want Service 2 stars if you don't know how to order a Burger Atmosphere 4 stars (with typical NY charm) You may or may not have to wait in line for this place if you can find it depending on what time everyone gets off work. The Burger is the best in town and if you don't know what you want you may get bumped ans someone may cut and order from behind you, but that's the charm of the place. Why the hell wouldn't you be able to walk of to a Burger joint and just blurt out what you want? Don't you know how you like it anyway? The inside is like a clean back alley with low lighting and scribble marks on the wall. How could you not love a place like this. Get ready for a Juicy Burger with a side of Amazing fries. read more

Had the hardest time finding this hidden burger joint. It's hidden behind a gigantic curtain in the Parker Meridien lobby. The burger itself was pretty good but nothing extraordinary. I would probably go back but... 1) the line was ridiculously long 2) service lacking 3) limited seating for the number of people in line I don't know... The whole experience was a huge headache for me. I would much rather eat at Shake Shack if I wanted a burger... read more

Finally got to go here after a chance meeting with a business professional. It's really tucked away and you're going to have to look for the neon burger sign if you want to get to it. Unlike the hotel it's located in, this place is very laid back and comfortable. Got a burger, fries and some water here. Happy I was able to get the burger exactly as I wanted and it was pretty good. Sadly, it's possible my stomach couldn't take all the greasiness of burger & fries despite drinking water (or maybe it was other beverages and food earlier in the day that messed me up?). However, I'd totally come back for the awesome food. There was no line & we got our food in a flash so maybe Tuesday evening is the time to come here? I don't recall the prices being obscene either. read more

After hearing about a burger joint hidden in a fancy hotel, I knew I had to check the place out. It's hidden to the left of the floor to ceiling curtains inside the hotel. I ended up asking the hotel staff where it was because I had no idea. Came here around 8pm on Friday and there was a line out the door. I was nervous about getting seats since the restaurant is so tiny, but we managed to land a table by the time I ordered. I'd recommend having one person order and having the other people in your party scout for tables. The burgers were fantastic and all our orders came out right. I had a cheeseburger with all the works. I also really enjoyed the fries which were straight and crispy. Love the dive-bar feel of Burger Joint too. read more

The most well known "hidden" place in the city. Although just a bit pricey for a burger it is unusually good. The cheese is runny and get into the nooks which is good. Only pet peeves are the people that come here thinking they're super cool because they stumbled upon a secret oasis. Never mind the fact that they saw this in a guide book read by millions. read more

Don't really get the hype here. It was definitely cool to experience (which is why the concept of a "hidden" restaurant or bar still exists I guess) and the line wasn't crazy when I was there, but the burger was just average and the fries below average. read more

Worth trying once given the reputation of the joint and the fries are good, but in my opinion not really worth the 30+ minute line during lunch. I'd be a repeat customer only if I could fanaggle no more than a 10 minute wait. read more

Ummm I had to stand in line for 35 minutes so for me the price and wait was not worth it. However, the burger was tasty but it was just your grannys homemade house burger nothing special or over the top about it especially not a 30 minute wait in line?!?! The fries are from Kennedy's Fried Chicken very disappointed in that was a total waste...PLZZZ think about investing in better fries!!!!! Also get some BACON yeah i said it!! smh The coolest part about this place is its "top Secret" location inside the Le Park Meridian Hotel!!:) Once you find it then stand in line you still will have to wait for a seat or take it to go. This is a very small location we were lucky enough to catch a table when someone was leaving. Overall if i'm in the area and there is no line and I don't want french fries or bacon on my burger then I might stop by. read more

Order arrived within seconds. Prices are a bit obscene for something so basic. Fries were okay. For $4, I expected more. Burger was good. Worth the $8, I guess. Loooooong wait in line to get in, super crowded inside. Longer than average wait to get the food and then just an average burger. I didn't think if was all that great. Much prefer Shake Shack. It's all a bit contrived, but I do suppose you need to see it at least once. Then you can move on to better burgers elsewhere. read more

Come here if you want a yummy burger in a novelty environment/speakeasy kind of experience. It's NYC so it's pricey. It's hidden in the swanky Parker New York Hotel. It's past the concierge and towards some drapes on your left side, which leads to a narrow hallway. Then voila, the burger joint. Order a burger with cheese or not. Then choose your toppings. Add some fries, beer and ENJOY! It's suppose to mimic a hole-in-the-wall joint. We watched the World Cup on a tiny, vintage television. The TV was so small, we couldn't see the score, lol. Everyone loves a hidden location right - be it a bar, a restaurant, or a burger joint! Burger Joint was easy enough to locate - behind the red curtains past the reception at the Le Parker Meridian, the neon burger on the wall guides you to the door that is the entry to this hidden spot. We came on a late Thursday afternoon (post the lunch time rush) and didn't have any problems with finding a table and the queue to order was a reasonable one. There is rather dim lighting, which can make the menu - written on cardboard in front of the kitchen - hard to read, especially when the room to order is already minimal. Sadly the excitement of finding the place and admiring the cool fit out was the height of any joyful feelings for the visit as the burger was just pretty darn average. They had cooked the burger to near perfection - still a little pink on the inside, but charred and brown on the outside. But unfortunately, it just didn't taste any good. Hidden in a beautiful hotel, this place makes AWESOME burgers and fries. They make you order as if you're ordering a cheese steak downtown Philly--you better know what you want. Stashed away in the posh Le Parker Meridien hotel lies a dingy burger establishment. Aptly named Burger Joint, this place delivers on so many levels. Be sure to know where to find it (behind a curtain as you enter on the left hand side, the destination is reached once a neon burger sign is in view) and be sure to know what you want as you approach the counter. The latter isn't too difficult as their menu is simple, hamburger, cheeseburger, fries, shakes and beer. The place is small and divey which already kind of connotes that the place will be good. In my experience, everything not too aesthetically pleasing typically yields the best food, Burger Joint followed suit. When you find a booth to sit down, you'll notice pictures hung all over the place and the walls scribbled with signatures from past patrons. This place welcomes vandalism in a sense, and that's kind of cool in my eyes. Did I already mention this place was divey as hell? So much so that when you get your food, it comes wrapped up? With no tray!?? If you order fries they're put in a bag for you to enjoy. Plates??? Fuhgetaboutit!! You don't get a plate, just rip open the bag and devour from there. I came here with a friend who knew the ropes and ordered for us... the burgers were good, juicy, good size... I don't think the fries were memorable. It is located behind a red curtain in the Parker Meridien Hotel, look for the light up burger sign. There was definitely a lunch crowd here but we didn't have to wait too long to order and get our food. Its small inside so you're lucky if you're able to snag a seat or booth. The staff was very friendly and the place is packed, so if it isn't too hot/rainy, might be a good idea to get it to go and each outside. The pizza itself is super light and very thin crusted. It was very enjoyable but extremely short lived. Leaves you wanting more - both because it tastes good and there isnt much food. I wish the hot honey wasn't extra charge because that would probably be delicious but $2 is crazy!

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

I thought the mala levels were just right, but it may be on a bit on the lighter side compared to authentic. The lamb spine came in a delicious broth, but it was a bit hard eating the lamb from the bone for not a lot of meat. The house steamed fish was also amazing. They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.

They seem to be known for their hand-pulled noodles and spicy flavors. I did see chefs making noodles when I went. We ordered: -Cleaved cucumbers (5/10- these were good but average) -Fried sticky eggplant (8/10- these were fried but you could still taste the flavors and was a good size) -Very spicy pork dan dan (8/10- delicious but more reliant on the sichaun spice over flavors; not too spicy if you are used to it but can pack a punch if you aren't a spicy food eater; the noodles were great). This was actually my favorite meal in the market and I want to try their other noodles next time I come back to NY.

It's one of the larger stalls in the market and has some seating, but not enough, and the market seating is very limited as well. I ordered the hibiscus lemonade and the very spicy Dan Dan Mian. I loved watching the staff prepare the noodles while waiting. My bowl was huge and absolutely delicious. It was very spicy as promised, but not too spicy that it was rendered not enjoyable. I looked at other orders and everything looked delicious, leading to only semi-regret of my choice. My lemonade was very good. I'm very much looking forward to returning.

Shake Shack v Burger Joint v Good Burger I want to say this is a double-blind placebo-controlled taste test... but its not. Its a friggin' burger, not the elixir of life. But if it were, I want mine in Shack Shack burger form, please. In Olympic order: Good Burger: They offer wheat bun, a nice option for the health conscious (like it will make up for a burger, deep fried fries and 500 calorie shakes). Patties are the weakest of the 3, that said, it will still beat your fast food joints any day of the week, and twice on Sundays. You can tell them you want your patty rare, medium, etc, but it will always come out well done. The best fries of the lot, but not the quality of In & Out Burger on the West Coast. Shakes are nothing to get excited about. Burger Joint: Burgers and shakes loses to the SS but beats GB. Wins on the fries, but that's not a high bar. Patties are great but not Woohoo!, they ask you how you want your meat and usually cook it pretty close. Biggest bearbug are the prices, they really rammed it up over the past couple of years. Nice atmosphere, if you came to dine on the walls. The queue is deceiving - sometimes it moves fast and sometimes you wait forever. Shake Shack: The lettuce is fresh, tomatoes look ok, the servers tend to overload the mayo... yeah I know, who cares, let's get to the patty. Fresh not frozen. Juicy not cardboard. Thick not chunky. Cooked only one way, which works for me. Mine came marginally undercooked once, I brought it back and they immediately gave me a new one, no fuss. The buns did it for me, soft, soaking up the patty juices, imparting a slightly sweet taste. Fries, weak, have had better at McDonald's. Shakes live up to their name, that's why God invented milk. read more

OK now that I signed up for Yelp I understand why I need to lose weight! I have a record of all the high cal food I am eating ... Not necessarily good but it is what it is ... My next review will be of places rabbits regularly frequent ... Although rabbits aren't exactly supermodel thin themselves! How you get fat on lettus and carrots is beyond me. I am writing this because there is not much to write about The Burger Joint itself ... A restaurant without a real name ... You have to look for the neon burger sign behind the curtain ... And believe me any friend of Dorothy would have been a little afraid once they looked behind this curtain. BUT once you get over the shock of the "atmosphere" of the place and resign yourself to the fact that it is what it is ... A dive burger place in a nice hotel ... you will enjoy yourself. It is a fun people watching place that is mostly full of tourists from many different places. I had to knock over a tourist to get a table but I spoke French after so no one knew I was a New Yorker ... Just kidding ... well sort of ... But getting a table is a challenge so get those elbows up and ready when you walk in and act like a vulture circling it's prey to get a table as soon as someone leaves. The food was good .. But the burgers were a little on the small side ... the fries were really good. The "service" is a little better that "The Soup Nazi" on Seinfeld so make sure you know what you want when you get to the front or, as the sign clearly states, you will be sent to the back of the line. If you are a local I would definitely go once of the experience ... same thought if you are a tourist. read more

So I was whisked away to this place by my boyfriend after he claimed to know "the best burger place in the city." I kept asking but he insisted on keeping it a secret because he wanted to be the one to reveal this wonder to me--too cute. A couple of months ago, I find myself walking through the Parker Meridien to get to a curtain--behind it, the Burger Joint. The place was small but we were able to get a seat quickly. Added bonus was that you could opt for waiter service (apparently this is fairly new) rather than wait in the long line. We ordered cheeseburgers with wine and beer, and shared an order of fries. The burger was really good--juicy but not runny and soaking my bread, but perfect. The meat was also seasoned really well! Many burger places tend to have the juicy burger without the taste, but I could've had this one with no condiments. Another great surprise was how good the fries were. I'm not a fries person, but my secret guilty pleasure is McDonald's fries--I think it's the one thing they still know how to do, and they do it well. Well the Burger Joint's fries were on that level--they actually tasted just like them and that was a nice treat. Overall, great experience. I'll definitely go back and take visiting friends. read more

First visit: One Saturday evening. Overcrowded. My fries were so salty I could not eat them. The burger was small, cold and hard like it was overcooked and not served promptly. The garbage bin was overflowing, and there was trash on the floor under the tables. I wanted to use the restroom but my nose made it clear I should not dare. I wrote this review but I didn't post it right away because I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. Second visit: Wednesday evening. Not overcrowded. I ordered the same thing as before. This time the fries were done just right. Fried on fresh oil, with a light sprinkling of salt. But now the burger patty was bloody rare, literally. And they put too much mayo/sauce. It was not great, but tastier than before. The place was much cleaner too. The restroom was usable. 15 minutes afterwards my tummy's acting up. We'll see. Other Shake Shacks are a bit upscale and well kept, with consistent service. Not here. The staff seems unwilling or unable to get their act together. The clientele is shady. Wasn't Shake Shack supposed to be better than the golden arches and the five dudes? Next time I crave a burger I'll go elsewhere. read more

I don't know why this place got glowing reviews. The service was terrible, the place was a mess and the burgers I had were some of the greasiest and the most disgusting things I've ever eaten in my entire life! Do you guys even know how to cook a proper burger? Can you even make a sandwich that doesn't fall apart or feel like a ball of grease in your hands? Here's a little tip for your sweet heart. And yes I am talking to that rude idiotic and unintelligent illiterate old fart of a woman working behind the counter. Burgers are not supposed to feel over greased and they're not supposed to fall apart in your hands. Whoever taught you how to cook seriously screwed you over because it's not even on par with a McDonald's cheeseburger! Not to mention that old bat behind the counter working the register needs to be replaced with someone younger and with better hospitality skills. It's bad enough that she cooks like a rank amateur. I need to star at her hideous manatee like face when I'm trying to choke down her subpar food. Learn how to cook like a real chef you invalids. This was amateur style bbq at best. read more

Inside, small and cramped...be prepared to sit with other diners..but hey we're all friends when it comes to the awesomeness that is the Burger Joint. It's located inside a posh midtown hotel and is sectioned off with a bouncer type guy standing outside directing people to the burgers. Food..straightforward and simple...burger done the old fashioned way and fries. No fancy toppings, no crazy bread, no side galore. Burger was AMAZING, the fries went perfectly and to top it off chocolate milk shake...who can really go wrong with that combo? Only down fall is the brownies, which are killer sized and moist, b/c they sit right in front of the cook station in such a small area tend to taste like the burger and fries which is a turn off. Tip---get dessert elsewhere..... However, I CANNOT wait to go back next trip down!!!! read more

After getting caught in a thunder shower in midtown, my friends and I were looking for a place to eat and we all decided on burgers. Naturally we went on Yelp and looked up burger joints and to my surprise ,Burger Joint, came up. Ironically its a hole in a wall located cozily behind a red curtain in a very nice looking hotel. Only a neon burger to lead the way.There was a respectfully long line the entire time were there. Which meant that business was good. I recommend getting seats before making an order since there aren't that many seats in comparison to the line. The burgers looked and tasted like a well made burger at a backyard bbq I had recently been to which was really good. Some sodas and fries and we were all good to go. I will definitely be back and getting the works again. read more

The food here is very good, however the people working here tried to kick us out because people were waiting around. He didn't ask any other group to get up and apparently this group of women insisted he told them we would leave. This group was convinced that we should leave when you don't make people get up at a sit down. We weren't even there for that long, it was 3 of us and we actually bought a good amount of food. They were hovering around us and yelling that they were hungry... nobody regulated them and seriously ruined the experience there. It's a nice spot but managed kind of poorly. read more

Fries The fries are good, and the boss move is to grab the mustard and the ketchup bottle from the table, squeeze both on the paper your burger arrived in, and mix yourself up a fry dipping sauce. If I could give this place no stars I would. What can I say about this place that already hasn't been said? Atmosphere was dim, service was subpar, burger was undercooked, rude staff that wasn't friendly at all, and a dirty table that wasn't even cleaned! On top of that the water wasn't even clean! It had bits of black chunks in it that didn't even look sanitary ! The only way this place could've survived the pandemic is if they closed it down entirely and built a better restaurant in its place! I won't be coming back to this low tier McDonald's . read more

It struck me as a big surprise to see the amount of reviews and Yelpers that have been going to this place. It is a well deserved 5 star expereince. Not as good as everyone said -- definitely over-hyped. Basic burgers, tasty, and probably better than chains. Decent fries and a solid milkshake. I haven't been to Shake Shack, but Corner Bistro beats out Burger Joint easily. Burger Joint was on the thinner side and fairly generic, by contrast Corner Bistro was big, juicy, and distinctive. As far as "best burger in NY," RARE Bar and Grill has ridiculous steak-burgers which are a lot pricier but definitely better. For the dive tiny burger spot price range, Corner Bistro is where it's at. read more

If your preference is "backyard style" burgers, than this is your burger spot in New York. There is something cool the first time you walk into the lobby of the Parker Meridian and end up in this divey burger spot. For newcomers to New York it will definitely impress. The burger itself is top notch. It's not too big (that's what she said) and it is very fresh and juicy. The bun is soft and not too hard to manage (She also said that). Crowds build up around meal times and there is very little seating, so go on an off time. read more

Solid performance, but I still prefer going to corner Bistro and having a hundred McSorleys to wash it down for like, $20 BUT- fun experience. If you know, you know. When you lift back the curtain you feel like you are entering an exclusive club, only admitting the most discerning burger addicts. That's the charm of the Burger Joint, originally in the old Le Parker Meridien Hotel. This version is just as hip, and cool. I recommend everything on the menu. Burger Joint makes a damn good burger. It has the right amount of juiciness, melted cheese, and a tasty smear of mustard and seasoning. Shakes are good too. Am not a fan of Burger Joint's fries though. I like the atmosphere. Because it's in a midtown hotel, there are a lot of tourists. Service is hit or miss and lines can get fairly long.
