My husband and I stopped at Schnipper's for a quick lunch in the city before a tour. We had heard good things about it, and it was exactly what we were looking for. Quality chicken and a solid burger that both tasted good, plus their buffalo and honey mustard sauces were good too. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was their chocolate milkshake, there was a flavor about it that I wasn't loving, and I'm guessing it's the chocolate syrup they used. Spills on the floor, chairs all over the place, trash on tables and floors, sticky tables, bottles of condiments all over the place. I love this as a take out place for lunch. I've had great experience and have ordered from here at least 10 times, normally as part of a group lunch order. This is an office favorite. The fried chicken is always freshly fried, seasoned lightly but tasty and give the vibe of home style chicken fingers. I also love adding chicken to thier salads. The salad options are plentiful and ingredients and dressings do not disappoint. Burgers are great; they are juicy and full of flavor. The size of the burgers are sufficient for an individual meal. I remember when we had a Schnipper's on 23rd near Madison Square Park and I loved it. I miss it so much! I was lucky enough to go to the one on 8th Ave the last week. I had a salad that was so fresh and big and delicious and I added grilled chicken. It's a much better salad than I get in any other casual counter restaurant! We went to Schnipper's for a quick bite and got a burger and chicken fingers. The burger was juicy, with a good cheese melt and delicious bacon! They didn't put mayo on our burger as requested, but they had some on the table. The chicken fingers were juicy and crispy and the fries were just under "too salty". The ranch was creamy but lacked the herby flavor I'd want. What's great about Schnipper's is how many gluten free options they have including buns and gluten free fryers for their chicken tenders!! For some reason the honey mustard sauce is NOT gluten free, but all the other sauces are. One word of caution is they yell out orders, and due to ambience noise it could be hard to hear, especially if you sit up stairs. read more

it's an absolute oasis in the Port Authority area- and I didn't even eat! I had a 'quiet' beer in the near empty glass shelled space insulated from the bustle right outside before my bus ( couldn't bear to spend an extra 1/2 hour in PA waiting for the 5:00 to Kingston..) Most weeks my schnippers bacon cheeseburger with extra pickles is the only thing that keeps me going. I make a lot of extremely specific requests and this team never fails to come through and do right by me. You can eat dine in if you choose to as there's plenty of seating. The menu is plastered right on top of the register. There's so much to choose from, like salads, burgers, chicken, etc.. I ordered the four chicken strips that come with a sauce on the house and fries. It was just enough food for me. I read reviews, and people claim that the salads are good here. First time at Schnippers and it didn't disappoint. I went on a weekday; late afternoon and missed the crowd. The menu is a bit overwhelming as there's lots of appetizing options. I went for the Sweat Heat Crispy Chicken sandwich and the vanilla milkshake. I have eaten here for years. I was just here two weeks ago. Tonight when I asked to sub a tea vs. a fountain drink I was told no. I am ok if you will up charge me, but as a person who doesn't drink soda and you would not even give me a fountain tea. You lost a customer. Update: thank you Andrea. I honestly would not have made a comment, but I work a few blocks away and this was the first time in 4 years this was not an option. I do understand your policy and perhaps all the times before everyone else bent the rules. I respect the policy, it's just odd that now it has been enforced. Just consider that some like a great burger and no soda. All of your options at your dispenser are carbonated. Having an option that is not would be great. I returned my cup since I already paid and had no options for a beverage including the tea or lemonade at your behind the register dispenser. I would've paid extra to even have that option. This is 1 of my favorite burger spots in NYC that isn't a huge chain. The location is big and has 2 floors and in addition to it being quick serve style, they bring your order to you if you choose to stay and eat. Fish & Chips: they use mahi mahi, 2 or 3 pieces of fish depending on their size. The fish is always just a little flaky and not too firm so it doesn't fall apart, but still very juicy and seasoned well. The fries never disappoint, but could be a little thicker for some extra crunch. Schnippers old fashioned: their take on a classic cheeseburger with grilled onions & special sauce. No frills or lettuce/tomato, but still a classic. Sweet potato fries: they come with an amazing dipping sauce that's a little sweet and tangy to put these fries over the top of other sweet potato fries. They could be a little crunchier though. Mac & Joe: 1 of the few places that even has sloppy joe on their menu anymore. But it's a taste of nostalgia and excellence from their seasoning. I never understood why cafeterias couldn't make it tasty, but schnippers does it right. The mac & cheese is a classic mac & cheese with some crunchy bread crumbs to top it off. read more

I ordered the schnippers original burger, but it didn't really meet up to my expectations. I was expecting a juicy thick burger with melting cheese and onions making my taste buds sing. But, it was quite dry, tasted average and the bun was ordinary. I have to admit, it is better than a Mcdonald's burger. The cheese fries were cold and the cheese made them edible. My friend's sweet potato fries were very yummy and made up for the not so appealing cheese fries. The store was empty when we went on and the top floor was closed off. Our food took quite a whie, and they forgot to add my friend's maple sauce. I'm not sure if I'd like to come back to this location or any Schnippers after this experience.
