We stopped here for breakfast on our way to the subway and it was easy and convenient. We both chose an omelet to order (with breakfast potatoes and toast) for $10. There are many meat, veggie, and cheese choose to customize your omelet. The potatoes are very soft and have peppers, very flavorful. The toast is not very toasted, more like warm bread, but the omelet is HUGE. Two of us could have split one omelet easily. This spot also has pastries, fresh juice to order ($9/$10), and they break out a buffet for lunch. They close at 5pm, so you would need to grab your food early for dinner. This was being used while in the presence of myself and others at the registers on Tuesday the 19th around lunchtime. I am not fully sure what the context was and to whom, it was referred to.... Customer or Coworker? However, these young ladies at the registers using this slur quite liberally with others present. They were having a good chuckle about someone. This was quite offensive and off putting to me and others. This type of conversation should not occur while on the clock. I was always taught that this type of conversation should be behind closed doors. This type of intolerance should be addressed. LGBTQ people are everywhere. We are not looking for special treatment, however this type of behavior should not be tolerated, even in today's political climate. Let's be clear..... I don't have a problem with someone speaking Spanish, seeing that it's a part of my culture. However, these young ladies should be aware of what they are saying because many people speak Spanish. Also, because someone is wearing earbuds, they may be off and can hear what you are saying, which was the case with me. This is common sense stuff, that these young ladies should be aware of. For breakfast, I frequent the buffet bar for the Egg Whites with Vegetables, Crispy Bacon, and Hash Browns. On days that I am preparing for war at work, I opt for their fresh omelettes, where they make it right in front of you. You can choose a protein like bacon and whatever greens or cheese you want on them. It comes with home fries and toast. Big portion and it is very filling! For lunch, the omelette station becomes the pasta station! Great because I love pasta! You can choose a sauce, protein, and unlimited vegetables and cheese to create your own pasta. My favorite creations include the Penne Alla Vodka with Spicy Shrimp or Sausage and I like to add mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, and mozzarella balls. Was in a meeting when someone announced around 1 PM what everyone else was thinking... I'm hungry. Luckily Delmonico NYC was on the first floor of the building we were in and luckily for a guy who loves variety in most everything, Delmonico has it and then some. The problem for me was the feeling that I needed to look at everything before I made a decision so I was wandering and looking for a couple minutes. Eventually settled on the fresh food/salad bar. Started loading up the to-go container with tons of fresh looking fruit, then saw marinated asparagus and then cold salmon, then tuna salad, then I started thinking, hells bells this box weighs a ton, I'm in NYC so I bet this will cost a fortune when they weigh it up. Well, "fortune" is all relative but I did wind up with $25 worth of salad. Back in the conference room and after everyone making fun of the amount of fruit I ordered I dug in and really enjoyed all I had stuffed in the container. The fruit, outside of the strawberries was all delicious but it was March so not really domestic strawberry season. We came here as a pit stop to get some breakfast before ice skating and this place offers a convenient location to grab a quick cheap bite and a place to dine in. There was a sandwich/ bagel area, salad, coffee, and omelet. I'm not sure if it's because we came too early in the morning or because of COVID, but there was no pre-made food where you scoop into a box and pay per weight. We decided to go with the stall where you can create your own omelet for $7.95 ($8.66 after tax). It includes 3 egg omelet with home fries and toast. For protein, you can choose ham/ turkey bacon, sausage, roasted turkey and bacon, with $1 extra if you want more portion. Vegetables for the omelet includes broccoli florets, peppers, scallions, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, onions. And cheese, they have feta, american, cheddar and monterey jack. They make it in front of you and we got our order in less than 10 minutes. Then you pay at the counter and that's also where they check your COVID vaccination status before allowing you to dine in. There's also restroom for people to use, which is always a plus! For about $9, it's a very sizable omelet with fries and toast. There were barely any seasoning in the omelet and fries, but I guess that's better than they make it too salty. They provide the small packs of salt and black peppers, so you can season them to your liking, which is good. There were a lot of people at the sandwich/ bagel place, so we're definitely going to check it out next time. They also have other food options where you can grab-and-go like pre-cut fruits, yogurt with granola, cakes, and pastries. Delmonico is a great lunch spot when you are trying to look for a good meal. During lunch time, it can be really packed and crazy but there is a reason why so many people come here. They serve teas, coffee, deserts, ramen, sushi, sandwiches, omlettes, pasta, salads, burritos, quesadillas, soups and a buffet. Their quality of food is significantly better than many places such as Everyday Gourmet across the street. I especially love their quesadillas because they pack a lot of ingredients. Prices are a lot more expensive. The buffet and their soups are tasty but it's expensive even for the Grand Central area. Came in for lunch today and got the make your own pasta which was delicious and a really good deal at 8.45 where they allowed a ton of toppings! It is a steal and the food tasted amazing. My one area of concern was that after I had already started my order, I noticed that the person manning the station used the tongs to get chicken and then put the same tongs into the broccoli. I had noticed when he usually got a meat product he'd use different tongs to grab vegetables before I saw this occurring, so I thought that was just the general policy but obviously not.
