The onions melted into the cheese and the toasted rye took it to the next level. This is a must try sandwich for all carnivores. And about the service... We stopped by for lunch and learned there was a short 15 minute wait. What typically might make you slightly upset did the opposite as the two men at the door and seating people engaged with us and made us feel like regulars. Many, many, many moons ago, I was a poor college kid who passed by this place every single day on my way to my internship, thinking that one day, when I'm finally not broke as hell, I will dine at this charming, retro-looking place. Fast forward to 2026 (where I'm finally not broke as hell), the day has finally come, and I am ecstatic about stepping foot into this diner that surprisingly is still standing in 2026. The inside certainly feels like a diner, but not quite the old-school dinginess that I'm used to--it's clean. Given that it was Sunday at noon, it was very crowded in there and mainly flooded with tourist groups, but a table opened up for us pretty quickly. For a NYC diner, the menu is certainly small - this is probably done to keep tables moving faster. I got the Pastrami Hash & Eggs and it was just overdone and super oily and dry--almost as if they just refried everything except the sunnyside egg. Not gonna lie, I was very disappointed, given that I had waited for so long to come here, only to get food that was an attempt to give the staleness another chance by refrying and reheating. I actually beat myself up a little the rest of the day for finishing the whole thing, knowing that the oversaltiness was flirting with opening up some high blood pressure. It was also not moderately priced by any means (was close to $30), but I know I'm helping pay for that Midtown and proximity to Central Park pricing. Food was good, i orders the bbq burger it was grilled perfectly and loved the bacon and grilled onions but it was missing the bbq sauce so i had it on the side, fries were hot and well seasoned and the service was a bit slow taking 30 minutes to get my food and I think my waiter forgot because something else finished taking care of me but sometimes that's the way things are. read more

Nothing but excellent food I had simple. I had the cheeseburger deluxe. It was excellent. Everything was really good quality beef used to make the hamburger the matzo bowl soup fresh made from scratch. The amount itself is fluffy. Light and delicious. It was really good and wonderful vegetables in the soup very fresh you can tell fish and chips. It's one of the best my wife I've had. This Brooklyn Diner was only a block from our hotel. We liked the 43rd Street location, so we decided to try this location for lunch. It was a comfortable place to eat. We were seated quickly in a booth for two. Guillermo M. was our wait staff, and he was nice & efficient. I got the chicken pot pie. It was huge and I was stuffed by the time I finished it. It was so good! Husband got a pastrami sandwich. It was not as big as my pot pie, but it was just the right size for him. He was pleasantly full after eating this delicious sandwich. I had such a good time here. Everything was good (except for the coffee, which was weak): the food, the caring service and the nice ambiance. My friend had her first ever chocolate egg cream. Had dinner at Brooklyn Diner last night and from beginning to end it was a fab diner experience. First, I had messaged the team prior to arrival to ask for a window booth if at all possible. When my spouse and I arrived they immediately took us to a lovely window and acknowledged how happy they were to accomodate. Then, the menu is varied with lots of classic diner dishes plus a host of Jewish deli items. We had the split pea soup which was vegetarian and delicious. They also offer a pistachio milkshake and I feel that I need to go back and try that one. I ordered a combo that included a cheeseburger, salad or fries and the milkshake. The price was a little high, but I think it was worth it for a New York City diner. I showed up right before closing which I think is early for a diner at 9 PM. The entire waitstaff here is very professional, friendly, and will take good care of you.
