    10-27-23 Cute counter Halloween decos
    Kathy R.

This review is for the Burger King located on Hickam right by the exchange and commissary. Stopped here on Friday, October 27, 2023 on my way home from grocery shopping. Last time I stopped here was post-covid & they still did not have a full menu yet. Fast forward a year+, they finally have added salads back on their menu but only have 3 - chicken club, chicken garden, & a small side salad. They no longer have the SW chicken salad, which was my favorite. Plus, only crispy chicken on the salads, no healthy grilled chicken - disappointing. When I walked into the restaurant to order, I was greeted by a nice, older Filipino lady. I told her I needed a few minutes to peruse the menu while I waited for my hubby to text me his order. I was ordering both lunch & dinner for us. Cashier's name was Dina & she gave great customer service. I would give her a 5-star. She answered my questions I had about the menu, spoke clearly, was patient, & accurately rang up my order. As I waited for my order, the dining room had a few occupied tables but mostly empty for a huge dining area. But it was after lunch, about 1:30PM. The dining area & bathrooms were very clean. They had a few cute Halloween decorations on the counter which gave it a festive feeling. My wait time was 5 - 10 minutes, not bad. Hubby's order: plain cheeseburger - which he said was good, half/half fries & onion rings - good but fries were a little soggy, like they pulled it from the fryer before it got crisp, 8-piece chicken nuggets - a little overcooked but ok. My order: Dinner - Impossible whopper - forgot how huge the whoppers are, overall this had good seasoning but I think it was overpriced for even fast food - $10?!? $8 would have been better. It also had an odd smell, not spoiled, but odd. I've had impossible burgers before elsewhere, and they all have a similar smell but this one was really strong. I doubt I would get this again, it was the first time I've tasted BK's. I also had a hamburger for lunch with just mayo and onions. They put way too much mayo & way too much onions where all you tasted when you took a bite was mayo & onion. I had a medium onion rings that was also soggy from being under cooked & pulled from the fryer to early. It wasn't crispy enough. The best part of this BK is you get a 10% discount if you use your Military Star Card. Overall, my experience was ok. I would most likely be back in the future since it is convenient to the commissary.

This renovated place is spectacular, but the burger today was not so good. The cold buns to complement the Whopper were dry & sub-par; however, the onion rings & cheese sticks were all right, but not mention worthy. Very happy that they finally installed free WiFi. One other area needs immediate improvement is making lemon juice available for their ice tea. In my opinion, if McDonalds carries them, Burger King needs to do the same to keep up with the competition. Cutting corners will have negative impact on attracting customers.

Stopped in for quick breakfast snack. Crossiant sandwich 2 for $6, cheeseburger, and coffee. For all the gang. Everything all good, content.

    Impossible wrapper hiding a secret.

It's called an "Impossible Whopper" because it's impossible to make it taste like a Whopper. The best way to describe the taste is a dried up mystery meat patty from a MRE after spending a day in the sun. I'm not sure how much they paid those actors in the commercials but I don't think they paid them enough.

Use your card and get a discount with reward points.

When going to work one of my favorite stops. Well a burger for breakfast is still a great meal. I like this BK because it's close to work and you can get either pick from the breakfast or lunch menu anytime. The place is clean and very spacious. The restaurant does not fill up unless it's a weekday lunch period. The pathway of the drive thru is quick and easy to maneuver. Staff is very friendly. They do pre stage the breakfast sandwiches which is another reason I get a burger and fries. One day the King will realize curly fries are the bomb. They have satellite aka Dish TV. It's hit and miss. Sometimes it work and sometimes it's doesn't. And when it does work you get either news, sports, or infomercials. One thing to look out for is the condiments. On more then one occasion, the packets of ketchup had soda syrup on them making them sticky and therefore your hands "get the juice". COME ON, SNL people. Let see who gets it. Overall a good place if you have access to Hickman.

    Low carb whopper
    Rusty B.

I chose to eat a low carb diet for several reasons but the main reason is weight management. Finding a fast food restaurant that has low carb options is rather difficult. There's only a couple that I know of that have a low carb menu. I had a few minutes to kill this evening before an afternoon training session and having not eaten all day, decided to stop by Burger King and see if the had whoppers without buns. I decided to walk inside to avoid any confusion and to ensure I had plenty of napkins and utensils if I needed them. I walked up to the counter to order and was pleasantly asked what I would like. I ordered a triple whopper with no bun and no tomato. The lady took my order without question or hesitation and within a few minutes my order arrived. It wasn't wrapped in lettuce like some other places, which I prefer, but it was in a plastic container with the lettuce on the side. It was served in a manner that made it easy to eat. I'm pleasantly surprised that BK offers a low carb option and I will certainly be back, soon.

My Croissan'wich. Was made with the scrambled eggs they had lying around instead. Egg was falling out all over the place
    Adam P.

My Croissan'wich. Was made with the scrambled eggs they had lying around instead of a new, folded, one-piece egg. Granted it was 1015 and nearing the close of breakfast, but standards should be maintained or don't offer it. Egg was falling out all over the place. Yolanda took my order. Asked for a breakfast number 1..... Got just a Croissan'wich. No drink or side. I'll take partial blame for that for not verifying before I walked away from the counter. Also got more things that were correct so I didn't realize the price total was wildly off. Child of one of the workers was playing in the dining area unsupervised. Listened to regulars comment on how often they see the child. She didn't misbehave but I'm against unsupervised children at your place of work. Everything else taste wise was consistent and what I was expecting (which is a good thing). Speed of order was on par to good. Saw a waste of a lot of Tator tots as breakfast ended. At least enough to fill a five gallon bucket. Second register used to break my $100 was left ajar. Doesn't affect me but doubt that was franchise policy.

This is close, fast and convenient so we come here about twice a year when I really don't want to cook breakfast or drive far. It's typical fast food and it is cheap. They have quick service and things are always served warm. You can get lunch all day so my lunch loving son can get a burger for breakfast. In the past few years their chicken sandwich quality has seemed to improve. Almost everything is fried so if you are looking for something healthy, look elsewhere. Overall, you know what you're getting when you come here and they are consistent.

Double cheese burger…read moredeluxe with dirty sauce The Grilled Apostle: 6/10 Ordered the double cheeseburger deluxe with dirty sauce from Forty Niner Restaurant. It looked huge and inviting. The burger itself tasted good as it was cooked with bread mixed in it to make it soft but once you started eating it, the burger fell apart. The bun was thin so it was messy as the sauce and burger started falling out and you needed a lot of napkins. Some people like it messy but it's not my thing. The onions and pickles were a perfect match. Too much American cheese. ________________________________________________ The Premium Purists: 5/10 I was looking forward to trying the burger at Forty Niners and hoped it would be an old fashioned/traditional style deluxe burger. It definitely had the look and right toppings but the patty was a little disappointing. After my first two bites the patties crumbled into pieces and the texture seemed off. It was too mushy and lacked good beef flavor. After learning they mix breadcrumbs in their burger patty, I think the patties I got were not mixed well and the ratio of beef and breadcrumb was off. That is probably why the texture was off, it lacked beef flavor, and crumbled. I would honestly give it another try and go with a single patty. ________________________________________________ The stack analyst: 7/10 Tried the double cheeseburger(dirty style) at 49ers and it was delicious. The fried pickles were the highlight for me. I love fried pickles and they worked really well on the burger. They also didn't hold back on the caramelized onions, which added flavor. The burger had four slices of cheese, so it was definitely rich. The patty had a nice sear on the outside, it did fall apart though. I would've liked a little more salt, but I know that comes down to preference. Bun was nothing special, just your standard setup, but it got the job done. I'd definitely come back and order it again! ________________________________________________ Double stack daddy: 6/10 The burger had a solid foundation, but it was missing flavor and could've used more seasoning. The biggest downside was the bun--it fell apart after the first bite, making the rest of the meal messy. Not a bad burger, but it didn't stand out, and there's definitely room for improvement. ________________________________________________ Bruddah big buns: 4/10 Da patty was mushy. ________________________________________________ Captain messy hands, keeper of the drip: 8/10 I found a winner! This fresh, hand-formed double cheeseburger delivered exactly what I look for--thick, juicy patties with the drip. Every bite was messy, flavorful, and napkin-worthy. It started falling apart halfway through, but that's a compliment in my book. Nothing fancy, just an honest burger executed right. This is the kind of burger that keeps you coming back. CMH Rating: Drip Approved!

There are only a hand full of tables inside and a small bar area, but there is also outdoor seating outside, too! A neat fact is that there were pictures posted from when the shop first opened up and to see They Daley as a fixture in Chinatown is amazing since they've stuck around and adapted to the development around. The burger was delicious, too. They have an aioli sauce that was good with diced up pickles. Usually I request no pickles but the small bursts really added to the texture and feel of the burger overall. 10/10 would come again!

I'm pleased to report that this latest order contained a perfectly prepared burger and a bag of crispy fries (as ordered). The remaining nitpicks were: 1) having to wait an additional 10 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready, 2) paying $6 for a bag of fries. Increase the price of the burger by $1 and reduce the price of the fries. Yes, the total would be the same but the value would be where it belongs. In any case, $10 is money well spent for a great burger.

They are forced to close due to the demolition of Ward Centre for redevelopment. They are just a small mom & pop shop at the ewa end of the mall, a limited menu, friendly customer service, reasonable prices, & ono food. I've eaten here twice and I am just wowed! I don't have a favorite item on their menu because everything I've tried has been great. Smash burger - the best I've had - for only $10.25, you get a double patty with their house sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onions on a toasted brioche bun. I added swiss cheese for 75 cents & subbed red onions for grilled onion for 50 cents. It's a pretty big burger & very juicy as well as messy. Plenty of napkins are needed for sure! Shrimp burger - ono! It's on a brioche bun and the shrimp is formed into a patty with a very light coating, not a totally breaded patty. The patty fills the whole bun so you get shrimp on every bite. Also served with lettuce, tomato, & red onions. The garlic aioli sauce makes this a tasty and flavorful sandwich. Butter lobster roll - I had this on my first visit and the price is a little steep at $23.90 but it was surprisingly one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. It's not a big sandwich. The roll is not even 6" but it is packed with tender pieces of real lobster - 3.5 oz - topped with melted butter. The sandwich is a little on the salty side but was still ono. Lemon tart - had this on my first visit but didn't see it on the menu this time. It had homemade lemon curd in a sweet tart topped by whipped cream for $5. It was a good sized dessert easily shared by two. Overall, a great place to eat, ono sandwiches, reasonable prices, and friendly customer service. They do sell out of items early so best to get their when they open. Everything is cooked to order so sometimes the wait can be 10 - 15 minutes, but it's worth the wait. I did inquire where they are moving to and was told they are still looking. I sure hope this little place continues to stay in business because they have something good going. Support local!
