There is a new spot that I think y'all need to know about!! I saw them on my timeline, I pulled up, & enjoyed every last bit of my time there!! Nuff said...LET'S GO!! . Where I am: @thechosenbistro . Location Reviewed: 6112 Marlboro Pike in District Heights M.D. . Items Reviewed: STAMP!! Their Wilburn Wings ($12 for 6 spicy peach flavored wings). Sweet, spicy, crisp, you actually tasted the peach in these. STAMP!! Their Steak n Cheese Eggrolls ($10 with ribeye, peppers, & cheese). Meaty, cheesy, & perfectly fried!! STAMP!! Their Bang Bang Shrimp ($9 fried shrimp with their house bang bang sauce). Sweet, spicy hot, crispy, & straight up tasty!! LIKE THAT! Their Mac n Smack ($9 their Mac n Cheese). This Mac was really good!! A blend of different creamy cheeses with a caramelized cheddar on top!! STAMP!! Their Southern Collard Greens ($8 Southern style collard greens). Well prepared, just the right amount of seasoning!! DELICIOUS. Their Bulgolgi Hoagie ($22.95 with marinated ribeye, provolone, crispy pickled veggies, gochujang mayo, & sidewinder fries on a hoagie roll). A tad bit too vinegary for me. I couldn't finish this. STAMP those fries though!! STAMP!! Their One Love Rasta Pasta ($23.95 with jerk chicken, penne pasta, peppers, onions, Parmesan, herbs, & a spice cream sauce). This is the absolute BEST Rasta pasta I've had in the DC area...GET THIS!! STAMP!! Their Sweet Potato Pie ($4 Housemade). I wish I had the whole pie!! STAMP!! . Customer Service: On Point . Parking: Decent. . Recommendations: Get what STAMPED!! Try the Mac too!! . Accessibility: It's is wheelchair friendly, & it's differently abled persons friendly. 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

My wife saw this place on Tik Tok and the 5 stars on yelp definitely swayed my opinion. We drove over around 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. My wife walked in and the front staff was quite pleasant. They made recommendations "catfish and mac and cheese" and we listened. We both ordered the catfish which came with a side. For sides we chose Mac and Cheese along with French fries. We wanted the collard greens however they were out which was quite a surprise being as though they had 2 more hours before closing. They charge a 3% fee for using a credit card however this is a sign on the window that says "NO CASH" so you're forced to pay the fee so be aware when paying. The food took about 20 minutes to make and everything was fresh and hot. We ended up eating outside in the car even though they have a high bar (no alcohol) and 2/3 tables on the inside. Once in the car we unwrapped our sandwiches. First thing we noticed was the lettuce that was missing even though it states there will be lettuce on the sandwich. My wife mentioned that a customer was already inside complaining about how his ordered was incorrect. After our first bite, another customer returns to the establishment because his order was incorrect. Ours was missing the lettuce so that would make 3 incorrect orders within a 30 minute time frame. They do give a lot of catfish nuggets but they were salty and overcooked. Not a fan. The French fries didn't seem cooked enough and the mac and cheese was terrible. Ultimately we are quite disappointed. The staff is nice but the food isn't the best in my opinion. I wish we had a better experience.

Stopped by The Chosen Bistro and the sweet potato pie was to die for! Perfectly spiced, velvety, and absolutely unforgettable. The vibe was friendly, the service was great, and that pie alone is worth the trip. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

PG County in the building! District Heights to be exact. I was super excited to not travel far and spend money around the way. Friend and fellow Yelper, Christine, and I decided to pay them a visit. We both ordered a few items to sample and sat inside in the small eating area. Everything I tasted was pretty solid. The rasta pasta was awesome-- flavor and the veggies that are included. I chose shrimp as the protein. The shrimp wasn't cooked to my satisfaction. The chef jumped right on the issue! I appreciated that. I loved that he came out and greeted us! I perhaps will try another meat with the rasta pasta next time, but I've gotta get back there for my own order of short rib sliders! The bistro is nicely decorated with fantastic wall art by a local artist @theartistcierralynn

So I decided to try out The Chosen Bistro, and they didn't disappoint. I only tried a couple appetizers but they were delicious. Service wise, let's just say I tried to be polite as possible, even though I felt like there was a little attitude when I asked for a side of bang bang sauce (try that with your egg roll and thank me later). The egg rolls had good flavor, a nice cheese ratio, but my only issue was they weren't that crispy. The spicy peach wings were delicious. A sweet & spicy balance was a great combination for the sauce. The wings were a good size and they were cooked good. I can't wait to go back and try their entrees.

New restaurant in my area. Service was great , inside was clean . The food was delicious well seasoned and flavorful. The bang bang shrimp batter and shrimp had great flavor even after re warming them at home they still were crispy and shrimp not overcooked . The burger was juicy and flavorful and saucy. Oreo pudding was not overly sweet but just the right amount . Lavender lemonade was sweet but didn't taste much of the lavender flavor. I will be returning.

I was invited here for dinner with a high school friend who had been here before, and I text him appreciating the NEXT DAY, to say how good this place was. When you come in, you pass the bar and I'm sure someone has already greeted you by then. The customer service here was great! Throughout our entire hour.5 stay at EllaRay's, my table of 2 was probably asked at least 5 times if we needed anything - in the best way too, not the inconvenience type. The food is served hot-bar style, with someone there to present to you whatever you want. I ordered the smothered turkey, mac&chz, and cabbage, along with some red velvet cake and a mixed lemonade-tea mix that was sweeeeeet! The food itself was DELICIOUS. The smothered turkey was exactly that - see the picture of the portions too. The mac&chz was also that, cheesy, and the cabbage had a great spice to it, that I enjoyed! My friend ordered the yams, string beans and catfish - and from what he let me try (I was only interested in trying the catfish), I loved it! I think it would be something that I'd order as my side next time. For desert, I had the cake the following day and loved the fact that the icing was homemade - not heavy or thick. Now the only thing that I haven't noted was the service. Was the staff attentive and great with their recommendations, yes - but their line was just so long. Maybe I came during a rush but to get all of the delicious food offered, it did take a little longer than expected. Other that that, I loved this place! Pack your patience, and appetite!

For starters, I couldn't decide between the honey butter chicken biscuits, jalapeño cornbread, or the calamari... and honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. For the main course, I went with the barramundi (catch of the day) and it was absolutely perfect, though the BBQ pork ribs and 12oz black angus New York strip with fries also looked amazing. The skin is crispy and the wings are properly seasoned and cooked. We also got the burger. It was good, but slightly over cooked from the "medium" I requested. The pizza was very good and cheesey. It almost tasted homemade (in a good way). I'd get it again. Ambiance: It's a local bar with plenty of TVs to enjoy the game. It's a bar crowd, so expect some yelling and music, which fits the atmosphere. I like the decor, and the place smelled clean. I'd definitely come here to watch the game and have some wings.

That was the first time I've brought my mother after I'd been raving about the food which she has had from one of my previous visits. She cut our order short and we left, having to get food and drinks elsewhere. All because of the little boy at the register. That day we ordered the salmon grilled cheese and that is something I actually won't recommend. (Bcuz of that days experience, I wld remove a half star from my rating) But the salmon Philly I've gotten twice and was even better the second time around. I've customized my own brioche breakfast sandwich and it was really good although the chef thought I was crazy for ordering it lmao she did her thing for me tho. Deserts and drank: I've had the strawberry lemonade cupcake (I'm good off that one) Strawberry short cake (yummy but too many little berries makes it mushy and takes away from the cake) Pineapple upside cake (I'm a strawberry girly but this one took the cake!!!! SIMPLY GOOD!!!!) Strawberry lemonade: tried to mix it up but it got better towards the bottom. Still good tho. I love that they bake and not deep fry their foods. I like that they have pescetarian and vegetarian/vegan options available in that area. Quick yummy and preserved fresh. I know the area cuz I'm from there but it's no excuse to lack basic conversational skills ie greeting customers next in line. U don't stare at me and say u was waiting for us to order after WE GREETED YOU. It can't be a Gen Z stare thing. I blame it on lack of common sense. However, my experience revealed a significant disparity between the stated purpose and the actual atmosphere created by the owner. The irony: The event was a documentary, discussion, and supporting the vendors who came. During the discussion portion after the documentary, comments and thoughts were welcomed, so I shared my thoughts specifically highlighting resources on collective healing and rest in relation to generational and historic racial injustice/oppression (resources such as the Nap Ministry). The vendors and attendees were kind and friendly, and a few were curious about the grassroots healing organization I mentioned. What I noticed was, while the owner was notably attentive and warm toward his white patrons and others, his demeanor toward me, the only Indian woman there, was inexplicably hostile and impatient. It left me confused. In his direct comments to me, he indicated a disdain he had for "Indian people" with the generalization that "Indians are the most successful in this racist system and are therefore part of the problem." I was painted with a stereotype that has nothing to do with me. It was disappointing to see a space dedicated to 'liberation' revert to such narrow, localized profiling of a supporter like myself, especially considering that my intention for being there was the exact opposite. This attitude of blindly disparaging Indians is the same anti-blackness he claims to oppose. It is ironic that in a space claiming to fight racism white supremacy, the owner reserves his most aggressive scapegoating for a dark skinned woman of color who was there to offer genuine support (an easy target for misplaced hostility), all while changing his demeanor for the white guests. It contradicts the grassroots racial struggle he claims to represent and left a bad taste in my mouth. The food was overpriced but watered down, cold, and lacked flavor. The whole atmosphere was cold, low vibrational, grievance and money driven, and lacked the vitality and integrity one would expect at this price point. Quality is a result of Presence. Because the owner's heart was closed and his mind was set on getting money for low quality food and finding a scapegoat, the food had no life-force. I have withdrawn my support from this place.
