My wife saw this place on Tik Tok and the 5 stars on yelp definitely swayed my opinion. We drove over around 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. My wife walked in and the front staff was quite pleasant. They made recommendations "catfish and mac and cheese" and we listened. We both ordered the catfish which came with a side. For sides we chose Mac and Cheese along with French fries. We wanted the collard greens however they were out which was quite a surprise being as though they had 2 more hours before closing. They charge a 3% fee for using a credit card however this is a sign on the window that says "NO CASH" so you're forced to pay the fee so be aware when paying. The food took about 20 minutes to make and everything was fresh and hot. We ended up eating outside in the car even though they have a high bar (no alcohol) and 2/3 tables on the inside. Once in the car we unwrapped our sandwiches. First thing we noticed was the lettuce that was missing even though it states there will be lettuce on the sandwich. My wife mentioned that a customer was already inside complaining about how his ordered was incorrect. After our first bite, another customer returns to the establishment because his order was incorrect. Ours was missing the lettuce so that would make 3 incorrect orders within a 30 minute time frame. They do give a lot of catfish nuggets but they were salty and overcooked. Not a fan. The French fries didn't seem cooked enough and the mac and cheese was terrible. Ultimately we are quite disappointed. The staff is nice but the food isn't the best in my opinion. I wish we had a better experience.

Stopped by The Chosen Bistro and the sweet potato pie was to die for! Perfectly spiced, velvety, and absolutely unforgettable. The vibe was friendly, the service was great, and that pie alone is worth the trip. Highly recommend giving this place a try!

PG County in the building! District Heights to be exact. I was super excited to not travel far and spend money around the way. Friend and fellow Yelper, Christine, and I decided to pay them a visit. We both ordered a few items to sample and sat inside in the small eating area. Everything I tasted was pretty solid. The rasta pasta was awesome-- flavor and the veggies that are included. I chose shrimp as the protein. The shrimp wasn't cooked to my satisfaction. The chef jumped right on the issue! I appreciated that. I loved that he came out and greeted us! I perhaps will try another meat with the rasta pasta next time, but I've gotta get back there for my own order of short rib sliders! The bistro is nicely decorated with fantastic wall art by a local artist @theartistcierralynn

So I decided to try out The Chosen Bistro, and they didn't disappoint. I only tried a couple appetizers but they were delicious. Service wise, let's just say I tried to be polite as possible, even though I felt like there was a little attitude when I asked for a side of bang bang sauce (try that with your egg roll and thank me later). The egg rolls had good flavor, a nice cheese ratio, but my only issue was they weren't that crispy. The spicy peach wings were delicious. A sweet & spicy balance was a great combination for the sauce. The wings were a good size and they were cooked good. I can't wait to go back and try their entrees.

First time there it was 3 people waiting, so I ordered the chicken lunch special. The wait was long as everyone else has left. Expecting "hot food" waffle fries not as hot as the hard over cooked burnt grease smelling chicken. I attempted to take a bite too hard. Then the cashier seemed offended when I asked how much longer.

Once again I love supporting black businesses and when I heard that another restaurant open near my home I was excited to try them out. Now the parking lot is small as it a small little bistro style restaurant. When you walk in it nicely decorated and you can purchase merch if you choose too. The cashier was polite and gave recommendations on drinks and desserts when patron asked. The restaurant is a little bit on the pricey side with a limited menu. But I'm okay with paying for good food. Now to the food wings were delicious I loved the cook on the and the sauce. The jerk chicken Rasta Pasta was also delicious next time I'm going to get it mild because it was a little too spicy for me but it was so good I still ate it.....lol. The doughnut bread pudding was way too sweet for me. I can't wait to come back and try something else and hopefully as time goes on they will add more food to their menu.

It's tucked away in an industrial area off Route 50, and unless you're looking for it, you'd probably never know it was there. We had a party of 12, and almost everyone in our group was visually impaired, including my mom. Dining out with a group like ours can sometimes be challenging, but the staff did a really nice job. As the only one at the table with 20/20 vision, I can honestly say they took the time to explain the menu, answer questions about the food and drinks, announce themselves when they approached the table, and help everyone through the payment process. Those extra touches meant a lot and made everyone feel comfortable. I ordered the wings and a drink, and my mom had wings, a salad, and a drink. Everything was fresh, the wings were cooked well, the drinks were good, and the portions were generous for the price. The restaurant itself has a cozy, laid-back neighborhood feel. It isn't a fancy place, but it's clean, comfortable, and somewhere I'd happily come back to. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because of the service at the end of our meal. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, but apparently his shift ended as soon as he took our orders. The manager and bartender stepped in and did the best they could, but with a large group that was mostly visually impaired, it made things a little more confusing than they needed to be, especially when it came time to sort out everyone's food and separate checks. No one was rude, and they worked hard to make it right, but I think management could have handled that transition a little better. Overall, I had a great experience. The food was good, the prices were reasonable, and I really appreciated how welcoming the staff was to our group. I'd definitely come back, and I'd recommend giving this place a try if you're in the area.

Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen: Our Father-Daughter Quest for Burger Greatness…read more My daughter and I were back on our mission to find the best burger spots in the DMV. This time, we chose Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen, mostly because their food pictures had us ready to risk our budgets and our diets. When we walked in, the menu surprised both of us. It was huge -- burgers, grilled cheeses, ice cream, cupcakes, cakes in bottles. My eyes immediately locked onto the desserts like they owed me money. I was so distracted by the sweets that my daughter had to take charge of the ordering. She knows how I get around sugar. After a few rounds of debate, we finally settled on: Lamb Burger Seafood Grilled Cheese Oreo Cookie Cupcake Snickerdoodle Cupcake Strawberry Shortcake While we were placing the order, I started talking to Naimah (hoping I spelled that right). I asked her if the food was good, and she hit me with a confident, energetic "YES." I told her if it wasn't, I'd be talking about her -- and she laughed like she knew she was safe. I could see the women in the kitchen working in their uniforms, focused and moving with purpose. That always gives me hope. Good food usually comes from people who look like they care. After a short wait, our food came out packed to go, but even through the containers, the aroma was strong enough to make us both hungry all over again. Everything passed the eye test -- visually perfect. We split both sandwiches. The Lamb Burger went first... and wow. It was beyond outstanding. I was blown away. My daughter isn't a lamb lover at all, but even she admitted it was really good -- which tells you how strong that burger was. This was clearly a homemade lamb patty -- juicy, seasoned, and paired with feta like it was meant to be. My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. Hands down the juiciest lamb burger I've ever had. Next was the Seafood Grilled Cheese. It was good, but something was missing. We added the sauce, which helped, but it still needed a little something to make it great. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The crab was lump, but it didn't stand out. My daughter said it needed a tomato to balance the flavors -- and honestly, she was right. A tomato might be the missing piece. Then came my favorite part: dessert. The Strawberry Shortcake was great, but I needed more whipped cream. That's just who I am. The cupcakes, though? Outstanding. Moist cake, melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture, frosting that complimented instead of overpowering. They were the kind of cupcakes that make you close your eyes for a second. We'll definitely be back to Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen to try more things. And yes -- Naimah is safe. I don't need to name‑drop her in shame.

I met the owner the first time who recommended the Turkey Club as it's one of their headlining items and remarked that they serve all day breakfast as well. After trying a few items, I can say that they rarely miss. My favorites are: *Yellow Cupcake with Chocolate Icing. Pretty simple but it's my favorite type of cupcake and it never disappoints. *Brioche Bacon, Egg and Cheese. The eggs were fluffy, the sandwich was flavorful and filling. However, my experience revealed a significant disparity between the stated purpose and the actual atmosphere created by the owner. The irony: The event was a documentary, discussion, and supporting the vendors who came. During the discussion portion after the documentary, comments and thoughts were welcomed, so I shared my thoughts specifically highlighting resources on collective healing and rest in relation to generational and historic racial injustice/oppression (resources such as the Nap Ministry). The vendors and attendees were kind and friendly, and a few were curious about the grassroots healing organization I mentioned. What I noticed was, while the owner was notably attentive and warm toward his white patrons and others, his demeanor toward me, the only Indian woman there, was inexplicably hostile and impatient. It left me confused. In his direct comments to me, he indicated a disdain he had for "Indian people" with the generalization that "Indians are the most successful in this racist system and are therefore part of the problem." I was painted with a stereotype that has nothing to do with me. It was disappointing to see a space dedicated to 'liberation' revert to such narrow, localized profiling of a supporter like myself, especially considering that my intention for being there was the exact opposite. This attitude of blindly disparaging Indians is the same anti-blackness he claims to oppose. It is ironic that in a space claiming to fight racism white supremacy, the owner reserves his most aggressive scapegoating for a dark skinned woman of color who was there to offer genuine support (an easy target for misplaced hostility), all while changing his demeanor for the white guests. It contradicts the grassroots racial struggle he claims to represent and left a bad taste in my mouth. The food was overpriced but watered down, cold, and lacked flavor. The whole atmosphere was cold, low vibrational, grievance and money driven, and lacked the vitality and integrity one would expect at this price point. Quality is a result of Presence. Because the owner's heart was closed and his mind was set on getting money for low quality food and finding a scapegoat, the food had no life-force. I have withdrawn my support from this place.
