I found this place on here, Yelp, and randomly decided to give it a try. I got carryout but my experience was great the food took about 15 mins and they even brought it out to me while I was waiting. I ordered the Rasta pasta and it was PHENOMENAL. One thing that threw me off was on the menu for the pasta listed at $23 and it says you can choose from shrimp or chicken or do both, no where on the menu does it indicates it's a up charge for choosing both so my pasta came up to $30. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it. And unfortunately, I didn't take pics. But here's my review.... Ambience and cleanliness, 5 stars. Customer service, though patient, no smile at all from the young lady working the register on Saturday, June 13th at approximately 8 pm. What did I order? The Rasta Pasta and a whole sweet potato pie based on a recommendation. My assessment? Why does chicken smell like tuna? Secondly, where's the chicken. I had more pasta and sautéed veggies than anything. And sadly, the chicken that I did find looked like the pressed and processed chicken fajita chicken strips from a bag of Tyson's. The pie was g9od. But looked more like pumpkin pie than sweet potato. But it was thin. And not worth the almost $30 that I paid for it. In total, I paid $83 for 2 plates of the pasta and the pie. The good thing that I can say about the pasta is that one plate is enough to feed 3-4​ people. And sadly, the pasta is EXTREMELY oily. Would I try them again? Yes. But not for the pasta. I came across this spot online after seeing their Good Friday special, and I was genuinely excited to support a new Black-owned restaurant. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. When I arrived, the place was packed, which is great to see -- but nearly half of the special items were already sold out. I went ahead and ordered the fried fish with three sides and was quoted a 20-minute wait. Since the space is on the smaller side, I chose to wait in my car. Twenty minutes later, I came back in and was told it would be another 20 minutes, and that they'd bring my order out to me. After no one came out, I went back inside to find the restaurant had completely cleared out, and my food still wasn't ready. They apologized and offered a complimentary drink, which was a nice gesture, but I ended up waiting nearly an hour and a half for fish and three sides. That's simply not acceptable, regardless of how busy it gets. I get it, a rush happens. But transparency goes a long way. Had I been given an honest wait time upfront, I would have made a different decision. I truly want to see Black businesses thrive, especially right now, and I hope they take this feedback to heart and work out the kinks. read more

Well, I was online checking out Big Schlim, the food influencer's reviews when I came across his review of The Chosen Bistro. My husband was taking me on a date lunch and this is where we landed. My wife saw this place on Tik Tok and the 5 stars on yelp definitely swayed my opinion. We drove over around 6pm on a Saturday afternoon. My wife walked in and the front staff was quite pleasant. They made recommendations "catfish and mac and cheese" and we listened. We both ordered the catfish which came with a side. For sides we chose Mac and Cheese along with French fries. We wanted the collard greens however they were out which was quite a surprise being as though they had 2 more hours before closing. They charge a 3% fee for using a credit card however this is a sign on the window that says "NO CASH" so you're forced to pay the fee so be aware when paying. The food took about 20 minutes to make and everything was fresh and hot. We ended up eating outside in the car even though they have a high bar (no alcohol) and 2/3 tables on the inside. Once in the car we unwrapped our sandwiches. First thing we noticed was the lettuce that was missing even though it states there will be lettuce on the sandwich. My wife mentioned that a customer was already inside complaining about how his ordered was incorrect. After our first bite, another customer returns to the establishment because his order was incorrect. Ours was missing the lettuce so that would make 3 incorrect orders within a 30 minute time frame. They do give a lot of catfish nuggets but they were salty and overcooked. Not a fan. The French fries didn't seem cooked enough and the mac and cheese was terrible. Ultimately we are quite disappointed. The staff is nice but the food isn't the best in my opinion. I wish we had a better experience. read more

First time there it was 3 people waiting, so I ordered the chicken lunch special. The wait was long as everyone else has left. Expecting "hot food" waffle fries not as hot as the hard over cooked burnt grease smelling chicken. I attempted to take a bite too hard. PG County in the building! District Heights to be exact. I was super excited to not travel far and spend money around the way. Friend and fellow Yelper, Christine, and I decided to pay them a visit. We both ordered a few items to sample and sat inside in the small eating area. Everything I tasted was pretty solid. The rasta pasta was awesome-- flavor and the veggies that are included. I chose shrimp as the protein. The shrimp wasn't cooked to my satisfaction. The chef jumped right on the issue! I appreciated that. I loved that he came out and greeted us! I perhaps will try another meat with the rasta pasta next time, but I've gotta get back there for my own order of short rib sliders! So I decided to try out The Chosen Bistro, and they didn't disappoint. I only tried a couple appetizers but they were delicious. Service wise, let's just say I tried to be polite as possible, even though I felt like there was a little attitude when I asked for a side of bang bang sauce (try that with your egg roll and thank me later). The egg rolls had good flavor, a nice cheese ratio, but my only issue was they weren't that crispy. The spicy peach wings were delicious. Me and my husband's first experience was great. We sat in and had the fresh turkey burger. The service was good and the ambiance was nice. Our second experience was NOT so great. My husband picked up the order and we ordered the turkey burgers again and it was NOT good, too mushy. The food needs to be consistently cooked the same. OK yesterday my mother picked me up a shrimp basket, which is always delicious with the sidewinder fries the bread delicious and a mini sweet potato pie and a blueberry lemonade. Always wonderful on point. Love the new cocktail sauce. Yes yes yes love the new organic ketchup, made by Lucky. It's not too salty and it doesn't take away the taste of the food. We love the changes for the condiments. Of course the blueberry lemonade always on point always a hit. The service was amazing according to what my mother said. She said the chef was very happy to make her food. He made her the last turkey burger they had because everything is fresh and made to order she ordered from the parking lot and then went and got her order. She got herself, two sweet potato mini pies and got me one taking one for lunch the last turkey burger he had she got it fully loaded as usual you didn't think to give me one. It's OK and she got the brussels sprouts which she ate all of when she came in from work so she has no leftover brussels sprouts and she got herself. I guess it's a roasted chicken wrap or turkey. It is for her lunch tomorrow. She said the ambience of the place was it was busy because you know it was the dinner rush, but people were still happy to be there and excited and ready to eat. Of course everybody went in there with their appetite and came out happy, satisfied and eating some of their food either in their cars in the parking lot and or while driving eating their french fries. I love this place. I love the changes to the condiments. The ketchup was not over salty the cocktail sauce was not over salty I'm getting ready to finish my shrimp basket and the blueberry lemonade is always on point. I wish they had. New restaurant in my area. Service was great , inside was clean . The food was delicious well seasoned and flavorful. The bang bang shrimp batter and shrimp had great flavor even after re warming them at home they still were crispy and shrimp not overcooked . The burger was juicy and flavorful and saucy. Oreo pudding was not overly sweet but just the right amount . Lavender lemonade was sweet but didn't taste much of the lavender flavor. I will be returning. read more

Once again I love supporting black businesses and when I heard that another restaurant open near my home I was excited to try them out. Now the parking lot is small as it a small little bistro style restaurant. When you walk in it nicely decorated and you can purchase merch if you choose too. The cashier was polite and gave recommendations on drinks and desserts when patron asked. The restaurant is a little bit on the pricey side with a limited menu. But I'm okay with paying for good food. Now to the food wings were delicious I loved the cook on the and the sauce. The jerk chicken Rasta Pasta was also delicious next time I'm going to get it mild because it was a little too spicy for me but it was so good I still ate it.....lol. The doughnut bread pudding was way too sweet for me. I can't wait to come back and try something else and hopefully as time goes on they will add more food to their menu. read more

I told 5 new people about this place and it's definitely on their radar. The food was amazing and although I didn't get the young lady's name (the host) she was a doll. She was accommodating, patient and very polite and I got to meet the owner who was also kind and friendly. The venue is small but there are a few tables available and a high seating counter to enjoy your meal in-house. Super cute. The mac and cheese is perfectly seasoned and incredibly cheesy, the green beans are fresh and flavorful, and the collard greens taste just like my mama's cooking. IF you are a cheese lover or a cheese steak lover, order the steak and cheese egg rolls. It was easily my favorite item on the menu. My friend and I ordered a little of this and that and were highly pleased with the taste of everything, including chicken and waffles, bang bang shrimp, bread pudding, mumbo wings, to name a few. They were also sweet enough to warm up my bread pudding. Note: this is more of a take out spot. You order your food to go, but there are cute little tables for you to sit and eat. We chose to stay and eat the food. Portions were great and I had enough for leftovers for lunch the next day. We read the reviews and thought we could get a good take dinner. May how wrong we were. Place was clean people waiting for their orders and some coming for pick up. We ordered the fish dinner(whiting with sweet potato fries) and one piece of catfish from the poor boy sandwich. The fries were burnt brown and the fish was batter so much it came off the fish and it was very greasy. That means two things fish was frozen and not thaw out or oil not hot. We called back and was told nothing they could do. We will never use the restaurant again and the food was thrown out and pictures taken. read more

My order placed online was completed 45 minutes after the stated time for pickup. I checked my bags and had to ask for things that should have already been in the bag like sauce and a drink and a food item. I ordered a lot of things, tried the steak and cheese eggroll it was not impressive, the whiting was even more disappointing and the only other item I took more than a bite of was the bang bang shrimp. None of the foods was hot which I guess I should not have expected because it was sitting while they finished the rest of the order. Also disappointed that the chicken salad sandwich served in a croissant was premade. A refrigerated croissant might as well be thrown in the trash. Even with the premade salad why not just prepare the sandwich to order. Waiting, having to sift through and request the order be properly filled and then the food being disappointing is unfortunate. My son told me do it and I should have listened. I really wanted this to be a good be addition. Wouldn't try them again. read more
