Bridge Street Town Centre is an outdoor shopping location in Huntsville. If you like being outside,…read morethis is the place for you. There is a place where in the summer children run in and out of the water playing nicely together while adults have a seat. There are many different types of retail stores here. Thru the years there have been several stores that opened and closed. The largest and nicest Belk is here. There is a movie theater, Apple Store, lots of restaurants and more. If you enjoy outdoor shopping, please stop by.

I remember the excitement around its opening and how fresh and uber swanky everything about BSTC felt! Tableside freshly made guacamole? Check! Fancy movie theater with leather seats and a push button wine machine? Check! Gondolas in a sizeable canal and lake? Check! Private, members only dining club? Check! Upscale feeling med-salon with everything from massages, mani/pedis/excellent salon artists and Botox? Check! Fancy high-end lodging where Goldie Hawn and her husband had a top floor suite in which to stay to support their son who was playing ice hockey at UAH? Check! Ashton Kutcher-backed restaurant? Check! Sushi on a sizeable comfy outdoor patio replete with heaters? Check! Choo-choo train that trollied around the complex, full of young one's honking its horn? Check! Sidewalk entertainers? Check! Splash pads for children? Check! Cuban inspired lounge/cigar bar? Check! Bowling Alley? Check! Fancy fondue place to celebrate a special event? Check! Beautiful outdoor decor at Christmas? Check! Local [non franchise] pizza joint with a lovely patio overlooking the lake? Check! Delicious, locally-owned [non franchise] southern American cuisine w/ a great HH? Check! Of the list of items with "Check!" only 6 remain. BSTC seemed to have it all! Huntsville was really moving up in the world! I've been here too many times to count. It is great that the parking was expanded with Phase 3 in 2013 to the detriment of the 10-acre lake that was filled in to accommodate the new parking garage and Belk department store. The parking was sorely needed! This is not my go to shopping center. It is my go-to happy hour destination and moderate dining at Connor's [my last remaining favorite BS restaurant]. To me, it is overrun with franchises, as nearly all of Huntsville is! And, being outdoor, it's subject to the weather! Bring a small umbrella if in doubt, you'll thank me later! Also, know there is underground parking on the south end and 2-3 story parking at Belk close to Connors. Do visit BSTC, it's nice that they have a Ferris wheel, and I believe some type of boats available on the far east side, and it's dog friendly in the shopping common area where you'll see plenty of folks with their 4-legged family member.

Mike…read moreJones and his Father, Ray started Mike's Merchandise as an offshoot of their family machine shop business with most of the items they sell coming from inventory reduction auctions. The machine shop and retail store shared a Guntersville space until it became a little awkward when Sak's lingerie, women's dresses, and footwear (2$-3$ each) shared the same space with greasy tools and machines. Eventually, they opened the first retail store in Guntersville and now (and have for a good while) have stores in Huntsville, Decatur, Montgomery, Muscle Shoals, and Auburn. Yeah, there is a lot of stuff in a MM!! Books, yearbooks and bestsellers, sports fan related items (think Blue Jays themed socks), nuts, bolts, uniforms, stationery, school supplies, sports equipment, picture frames, Bubba Gump glasses, barrettes, office desks, grills, nuts, bolts, tools, flashlights, live orchids - you get it. It's a bargain hunter's paradise if you don't have ADHD and can focus on getting only what you are looking for. Interestingly enough, they don't always know what is in some of the boxes they bid on at auction and once ended up with F-16 fighter jet parts that required Pentagon permission to sell. (They sold nearly all the parts, too!) Like their website says, after visiting the Guntersville and Huntsville stores, I did find myself saying, as many MM shoppers do, "I'll bet that would come in handy, if I just knew what it was for." :)
