I have to say service and quality has gone down over the years here. We have been here multiple times and we used to love it here. Last few times I have been disappointed. This last time was the last straw. The server forgot one of our drinks (didn't even come back for a while, we had to flag the server down) and they also didn't have calamari appetizer available. The server didn't come to tell us that right away. It was about after waiting for 10-15 minutes, they come to tell us. I asked for bread and the bread was so hard, you can tell it was not fresh. The dinner plates were ok. At least the steak was cooked correct. Then we asked for desserts and they tell us all they have a cheesecakes balls and are out of all other desserts. This was a Friday night, you would think a restaurant would be stocked for a Friday night. Sadly, my business will be taken elsewhere now.

First time coming in to eat! This place was very clean, seemed as though it was a new spot, turns out they have been open for about 3yrs. The food was delicious it was light and fresh tasting not heavy at all. Service was great she was so nice and attentive. The only complaint I had was the coffee I had was not good at all. I drank half just to get some caffeine in me, but could not finish it no matter how many creams I would put into the coffee. Will definitely be back and bring the hubs and parents. The food is locally sourced it says that in the menu which is very cool to know.

I ordered the prime rib for take out before and it was great so I went back on 4/26/25. Big mistake! I ordered the ribeye for $48 expecting it to be a big juicy steak since it had a Fisherman's Wharf price tag. Well, it was thin and came with burnt Brussels sprouts and au gratin potatoes too hot to enjoy. I was able to eat a little of everything. Bread never came, they kept saying it wasn't ready, an hour after opening. There was no juice in the steak, I told them it was dry and they said they sent a message to the owner, or absent person in charge. I can get a better ribeye for $8 from the grocery store. I didn't order a salad as I planned on having bread. I didn't dare ask about dessert. It was so bad I won't even take a chance at the prime rib again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was only one other table with customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]My table for two was wobbly, atmosphere is plain and service was satisfactory, except for being billed the whole amount, which I paid.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My first time visiting this place. The most amazing eating experience of my life. The staff was friendly and attentive. The executive chef/,owner Mike Ortiz went out of his way to come out of his busy kitchen to our table and meet us and see if there was anything we needed. my wife had the ciopinno (out of this world) and I had the tomahawk pork chops. We brought along our compadres they enjoyed it also. The dessert was amazing also. I highly recommend this place. GREAT FOOD GREAT ATMOSPHERE GREAT STAFF. I will definitely come back.

Elizabeth our server was great! We made reservations before our performance we were standing at the Gallo, and there were not very many people there on a Thursday. It doesn't look like much from the outside. They need to put curtains up over the window on the right as it's an area they use for storage and looks very uninviting from the outside. Ambiance needs some work as they have great food and it's a good place for a date night. Just little things that wouldn't cost much could really change the feel. Putting up a divider from the bar area is one. They have a big conferance style dining room for a large party. We came on prime rib night so hubby had that. The mashed potatoes were unimpressive and needed seasoning. The prime was a nice big slice and cooked just right for medium rare. I had the halibut which was on special. The halibut was cooked well but needed a sauce of some kind. Not much flavor or seasoning so i used the awesome butter from the rolls. They are fantastic by the way, a must to order for $2. The asparagus needed the tough lower stems cut off. Otherwise it was cooked nicely. We had a cheesecake dessert on gingerbread with a cranberry topping. It was good. A few small adjustments and it could really be a dear place.

The food was just your typical diner type, greasy spoon kind of place. I got an egg white omelette with ham (looked like cut up pieces of thin sliced deli meat) and asked that fresh potatoes be boiled in water or steamed in water due to food allergy. What I got was fried potatoes. When I questioned the server he just said that's how they come. Do they not have raw potatoes in the back they could have boiled for me?? The taste of the omelette was meh and I only ate 4 bites. I obviously didn't eat the potatoes. The English Muffin felt oily, like someone touched it with greasy hands. I had asked for it to be dry and with no butter. So basically I didn't eat any of my food and will not be back (this was my third time here and none of the other experiences were any better.) Such a shame because it is only 5-minutes from my house. My dad ordered the chicken fried steak and my mom got the taco salad and both of their meals were inedible too. The food here is just BAD. I told the server I didn't like my food and he didn't even answer me. He took away three plates of uneaten food and no one asked if there was an issue and no manager bothered to come over to even talk to us or try and make it right. What a HUGE waste of money. Don't bother eating here...so many other places to eat that are so much better. This place was packed and no real waiting area...everyone just squished together. This is a hustling and bustling place, so if you are looking for a quiet spot, at least don't go when we did. Best part of this place is their wall for taking pictures. I think they care more about making things look IG worthy, than the quality of the product they are serving.

Staff was super friendly, went out of their way to make sure the tables were tidy, and refilled drinks really quick. The restaurant is smaller than you expect it to be, but it is cozy, friendly, and not overly loud. We only had a 10 minute wait when we arrived and they were packed. Our waiter Kyle was on point, introduced himself and dropped the special of the day with gusto. If I hadn't already had a ton of carbs for the day I would have gone with it. Ended up ordering the scallops, and fried zucchini appetizers. Scallops are served almost like a soup. The sauce in the bowl was to die for. I'm thinking white wine, and lemon were the major components. It was phenomenal. Fried zucchini was super tasty and is coming home with us. I'd swear it was enough to feed 4 people. For mains, we ordered pot roast and fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. Wife loved the pasta and chicken. Surprisingly enough she ate it all, none to go which is super rare for her. Pot roast was fantastic. Mashed potatoes were on point, the mixed vegetables were amazing. Had an overnight work trip that had me in Modesto so I was trying to find something fun to eat…read more After a bit of research I found this place. I showed up around 7pm and I thought it might have been closed because no one was here. But they were open. I ordered a Bauer burger with the house seasoned fries. They asked how I'd like the egg cooked and the burger cooked: I asked for medium for both. Given how dead the place was, it did take a minute to get my food. The burger was ok, not worth $21. The bun fell apart very quickly which is a bit of a cardinal sin in the burger game. The bacon on the burger was not bacon strips but a bit of bacon crumble. The patty was a bit overcooked so it was dry and it wasn't seasoned so it was bland. The egg was cooked perfectly, but the aioli and the egg yolk with a disintegrated bun made for a huge mess. The fries were interesting. The house seasoned fries are not salted. So the fries were almost sweet due to the spices, but no salt. And they do not have regular table ketchup or malt vinegar. I did ask for some ketchup and they brought me their house ketchup. While not like a classic ketchup, it was actually quite good. Oh, be aware. They will charge you a 4% fee when they bring you the check (what would have happened if I'd paid with cash?). I do not see anywhere on the menu where they say their is a payment fee so that is a pretty shady business practice. Overall: meh. Here, you order your food, grab a number, and find your own seat for the food to be brought out to you. We sat at a table outside to decide what to order. There were no menus available so we just had to search for it online before heading inside to order. Despite being third in line from the register, we had an extremely long wait to order. There was only one person running the register who also had to make the drinks, meaning the service incredibly slow. We wanted to order the five taco platter, garlic fries, chicken Caesar salad, and mimosa pitcher. Sadly, we were only able to get the pitcher and salad. The cashier told us "sorry, we aren't doing fries right now." Not doing fries? Every plate in the vicinity had fries on them. She said that because it was brunch hour, only food on the brunch menu could be ordered. We looked at the brunch menu again and literally saw garlic fries as an option as a side for the burgers/sandwiches. No where did it specify that you can't order off the other menu and both were available online. What bothered us about this is that we placed this order at around 1:50pm, and brunch ended at 2:00pm. I understand that we are not entitled to things on the lunch menu during brunch-time for items like the tacos, but considering the menu swap was less than 10 minutes away and they were quite literally were "doing fries" at the time, it didn't make much sense to us. The only food that we ended up ordering was the Chicken Caesar Salad. This one dish took a super long time to receive. By the time it was brought out, the three of us nearly finished the Mimosa pitcher. The waitress noticed we had no silverware and said she would go grab us some. Because of how the service had been going thus far, we placed a bet on whether or not the waitress would come back with the silverware. Surprise, surprise. She didn't. We had to go inside later and search for silverware ourselves. We weren't even able to get sharing plates which was upsetting since the waitress asked us if we would be sharing the salad. The salad itself looked delicious, but was bland. The dressing was missing that zing and zest that a Caesar dressing typically has. I do appreciate that is was a chopped salad, had avocado, and seasoned croutons. It is just unfortunate that it was lacking any flavor at all. The food prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food you receive though. This experience was disappointing because I was so optimistic about the place. The menu looked good, it had fun and casual vibes and a cool crowd of people. If Commonwealth worked towards better service practices, it would have been a more positive experience.

I have left wonderful reviews in the past for this place but I have to share my experience…read morerecently. My boyfriend and I have been to Standard Pub several times during the day, and every visit has been fantastic. We've enjoyed the food, drinks, and even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner on multiple occasions. The service was always welcoming, and the food was consistently phenomenal. Because of those great experiences, we decided to bring some friends on a Saturday night. We arrived around 7:30 PM, and the atmosphere looked promising. There appeared to be a DJ setting up, and the crowd seemed excited for a night of music, food, and drinks. Unfortunately, our experience that evening was completely different from what we had come to expect. We ordered food and drinks, and while our server wasn't outright rude, he seemed uninterested in providing the level of service we had previously received. As the night went on, things became increasingly odd. Shortly after ordering another round of drinks, while our drinks were still full and we had just received them, the server approached our table and asked if we were finished. My boyfriend jokingly responded, "No, let me talk to your manager," and laughed, assuming the server was joking as well. The server responded, "Yeah, it's my brother," but with an attitude that left everyone at our table looking at each other wondering what had just happened. He then informed us that we needed to put a credit card on file. At that point, we had already been there for over an hour, and it seemed strange that this requirement was only being brought up then. We also noticed that no other tables around us were being asked for a card. The most disappointing part came when we received the bill. There was an additional $60 service charge added--$35 on my friends' bill and $25 on ours. Confused, we asked for an explanation. The explanations we received kept changing. First, we were told it was because my boyfriend was sitting with another group, which was completely false. Then we were told it was because the bill exceeded $100. After that, we were told it was because there were more than six people in our party, despite there only being four of us. The inconsistent explanations were frustrating and made it feel as though the staff were simply making up reasons to justify the charge. Our issue wasn't necessarily with a service fee itself--it was the lack of disclosure and the conflicting stories we were given when we asked about it. To make matters worse, the receipt also included a separate line for an additional tip. After discussing it with them and explaining that additional charges should be clearly communicated to customers, the service charge was ultimately removed. This review is not a reflection of the food, which remains excellent, nor of our previous experiences at Standard Pub. It is solely based on the service and handling of the situation during our Saturday night visit. We left feeling disappointed and confused, especially because this establishment had earned our trust through many positive visits in the past. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident and that management addresses these issues so other customers don't have a similar experience
