Nice eatery located across the promenade from the Chase Center. Because of the proximity serves as a small café/eatery and a cocktail bar before heading over to games or events. Because of the large crowd, this place is really organized and the service is quick and friendly. We actually already had dinner before heading to this area, but my teenage nephew was still hungry so he got some food here, haha. I was mainly there just to grab a drink along with the family. We ordered some platha and dip, as well as some nan gyi dok - or some udon noodles with coconut curry chicken. I got a small bite of the food and it was tasty. I personally ordered the Los Warriors drink and it came out with the Golden State Warrior colors. So fun! It was tasty as well. We were in town to see NIN at the Chase Center and had some time to kill before the concert, so we decided to try Burma Love for some spicy Burmese food & drinks. It was terribly crowded since there was an event here, and the place was absolutely swamped with concert goers and hungry goths. It's located in the Warriors Promenade just next to the Chase Center. Reservations are an absolute must if you're trying to eat here with an event going on! Thousands of people milling about looking for food, and your choices on a Sunday night are fairly limited. We were seated quickly despite the madness and got a cozy booth away from all of the foot traffic & chaos. 5-stars for the staff here for really hustling to accommodate & serve the absolute crush of people. They were very nice, attentive, professional, and pleasant despite the chaos. The inside is very nice & clean, with minimal decor and a big, bright atmosphere. The bar was an absolute tower and the tables (there aren't many), are well laid out and spaced apart. Another downside for this small restaurant is only having two bathrooms, which creates lines 10-12 people long, but the bathrooms are big, clean, and spacious. Outside is a patio, but then again, who would want to sit amongst the throngs of people waiting to go into Chase Center? Crazy crowded, busy, and chaotic. But, the ample & efficient staff really hold things down here, impressive service. We had a couple of cocktails including an old fashioned & some Golden State ciders. Prices were a bit higher than expected, but I guess a night out in San Francisco is always going to expensive. We order the salt & pepper tofu appetizer and the Samusa soup, since we wanted to stay light and nimble for the upcoming 3 hours of concert going. The drinks were good, but I did not enjoy the food. It was overly spicy, and the slickness definitely dominated the flavors and made it difficult to finish anything. The soup wasn't very hot (temperature-wise) but definitely too hot (spiciness-level). Mind you, I love spicy food, and very spicy levels, but this was so much so, thst you couldn't taste anything else except the red chili peppers . The salt & pepper tofu was pretty good, with ample portions for it being a $20 appetizer. The dipping sauce was flavorful, but don't reach too far under the dish, because you'll get another wallop of red peppers and over-bearing spices. We did finish the appetizer, but only about half of the soup. Pretty disappointed, and we did leave there still hungry after a $100 bill for only two cocktails and two smaller food dishes. +1 for the amazing service. Our waitress absolutely delivered everything quickly & efficiently, despite the swell of old NIN goths defending upon the restaurant all at the same time. Everyone was running around, yet controlled and attentive. They are very well-trained & composed, and I'm sure they experience this same situation every time there is a concert, event, or sports game at Chase Center. +1 for the drinks and +1 for the nice atmosphere and clean environment. The food was disappointing, as well as the long wait to use the bathrooms. I probably wouldn't go back here again, especially on a game or concert night, and if I did, I'd probably only stick to drinks & appetizers. I invited a friend to lunch at Thrive City and she wanted Southeast Asian food, so we arrived at Burma Love on a busy afternoon while the World Cup was on the big screen at Chase Center. Service was friendly but felt a bit pressured, as we had several different staff repeatedly asking us if we were ready to order. We got the tea leaf salad, which was just OK (I prefer it at Mandalay, Burma Superstar, and Burmatown). Our 2nd dish was the shan rice noodles with chicken & pickled vegetables, which despite smelling delicious was also just OK in flavor. We felt a similar pressure from staff to leave once we finished eating, despite the lunch crowd having thinned out & there being more open tables. Stay away. We ate here before a Valkyries game because it is conveniently located adjacent to Chase Arena. However, our children's entrees never arrived. I asked two times. Our noodle dish was missing eggs, and they claim they don't make it with eggs. The rainbow salad was missing two ingredients and they claim that's how they make it. I have been to many Burmese restaurants and never had an experience as bad as this. Do yourself a favor and eat inside the arena, at least you will get what you want. read more

I checked out Kayah by Burma Love for the first time while I was near Chase Center with some friends and it has quickly made it to one of my favorite restaurants around Mission Bay. Although the restaurant is on the smaller side and we did not have a reservation we were seated relatively fast and only had to wait about 12 minutes. The inside of the restaurant is gold and dark green and gives off a warm and cozy vibe. When we went we decided to get a few dishes and share family style but two of my absolute favorite dishes were the salt and pepper fried tofu as well as the Roti with dip. The salt and pepper fried tofu was perfectly dusted with spice and basil and served with a tangy sweet and spicy chili sauce and the Roti with dip had some of the most flakey buttery roti accompanied by chicken curry, and a salted butter as well as a sweet honey butter dip which was my favorite! read more

Hey munchkins how's it going? I'm feeling great! I just did a midnight runners 5k run with the air purifier and I have to say my performance is really improving! In the past when I did my air purifier runs I could only go at a pace "The Quant" was walking at. Now I can keep up with him while sprinting and even beat him to the finish! Amusingly enough this run happened near Halloween so people thought my air purifier was part of a costume. When asked I told them I was a guy named Humza from a weekly autobiography called trash tales. Of course this is myself which people didn't pick up on which made it funnier. After such a resounding win we went to Kayah for some bomb Burmese food. The food was great! We got the spicy noodle with tofu and it was good. "Sergeant Sassy" said they were "aight". My friend got the Shan noodles with chicken. They were a bit too upbeat for my friends liking and were missing some salt but otherwise they were good. Finally "La Tacqueria Royalty" ate the sesame chicken. It was pretty solid and slightly crispy. He did wish there were more vegetables but all in all an enjoyable experience. The waitress was great and asked us up front if we had any food allergies which I appreciated. Had a very nice lunch here. It wasn't too busy which was nice. We got to pick Alger we wanted to sit. Since it's really windy outside, we decided to sit inside. We were given menus and water. We ordered the samosas, coconut chicken curry, side of jasmine rice and steak frites. Our food came out quickly. The samosa were delicious. I went here with my coworkers for a nice dinner after work. The restaurant wasn't too crowded (maybe half full), but it is located near Chase Center so the plaza gets crowded when there's an event. Although we arrived early and the restaurant inside didn't look crowded, we were told that there would be a party in there soon and they offered to seat us outside. We waited near the entrance as one of the staff arranged the seats and were allowed to sit in the patio. The weather was nice that day and the restaurant played pop music that wasn't too loud. We ordered some drinks and a few appetizers to begin our meal. I had a ginger tea that was nice, hot, and flavorful, and it warmed me up as the night got chillier. We got some veggie samosas that were crispy on the outside and had a potato filling with warm spices and served with a slightly spicy and tangy dipping sauce. We also got some platha, which was a bread with thin, buttery layers and some vegetarian curry and honey butter for dipping. The table also got a tea leaf salad to share, which was mixed for us by one of the staff before we split it. The tea leaf salad was very refreshing and colorful. We then ordered four servings of coconut rice to eat with our main dishes: chicken curry, beef curry, kayah banana leaf fish, and eggplant with garlic sauce. I loved the eggplant with garlic sauce. The garlic sauce was sweet and savory at the same time and made it pleasant to eat with the eggplant. Both the chicken and beef curry had a nice curry soup and the chicken and beef were so juicy and tender. The banana leaf fish we had ordered after noticing how enticing it looked when another table ordered it. The black cod was steamed in banana leaf and served with sticky rice and salsa which paired with it perfectly. Despite the restaurant not being too busy, the service was a bit slow and we had to call the staff multiple times to ask when our food would come. They weren't able to serve us the coconut rice we had originally ordered and they gave us complementary jasmine rice instead, but they forgot to take the coconut rice off the bill so we had to ask for another tab with the coconut rice order removed. The food was very good and it's a nice place to go with friends although a bit pricier than I'm used to. Well that is not the case - this place is amazing! I had lunch on a non-game day and it was one of the better meals I've had in awhile! The lunch special plate- pictured here - was a wonderfully fresh, perfectly cooked and plated at a great price. I walked in and wanted to check out the menu before I ate. I looked and then no one looked up to see if I wanted to order or be seated or leave. I eventually asked to be seated when I could get someone's attention. I was seated and asked if I wanted water. Yes please. They brought water and disappeared. I find myself reordering the Hamachi Crudo every time I go! if you like raw seafood, definitely try it out. they update the fruit they use depending on what's in season, so it's a little different every time! i have tried more than 50% of their menu and they have yet to disappoint. the roti platha + dip are a must as well. we took the recommendation of the bartender and tried the Mohinga fish chowder--so flavorful and filling! the portion sizes are pretty big. their vegetarian/vegan options are very limited, but they exist (they have about one tofu/vegetable option for each menu category). there are many gluten free options. the drinks are yummy, and they have a full bar so you can order off menu if you choose. they have non-alcoholic mocktails as well. it's at the chase center so naturally they are super busy on game days. service can be slow, and food & drink sometimes take a while as bartenders and servers try to appease every customer's orders. their bar is open seating and it's easier to get service there, but still expect a wait on game days. go early if you want to really experience it--you can make a reservation on OpenTable for their main dining room indoors or their outdoor patio. when they're not super busy, the friendly bartenders have time to chat. the ambiance is great and it's such a perfect summer vibe with their patio doors open for fresh breeze and sunlight! it gets chilly in mission bay so always bring layers and i don't think there are heaters on the patio. I was so excited to head to the last Warriors game with my dad and have the opportunity to finally try Kayah by Burma Love for lunch before we headed into the early Sunday call time for the game. Such a beautiful space for a pre-game meal. We cozied up to the bar and order a round of drinks and the Tea Leaf Salad to start. FYI this salad has jalapeños that definitely give it a kick and an elevated taste if you're familiar with grabbing the tea leaf salad at Burma Superstar. The couple next to us gave a pro tip to add a side of garlic chips to sprinkle on top of the salad while giving us the remainder of theirs. So good, so vibrant, so delicious. A great start to the meal. We then ordered the Garlic Noodles, the Burmese Fried Chicken, and side of coconut rice. Great portions and perfect for two people. Absolutely loved the flavors in everything ~ the garlic noodles seem like they're a must order, the fried chicken was done just perfectly prepared as sliced tendrils, and honestly could have that coconut rice everyday for the rest of my life...yum! Curious to see the dinner menu and if there are any standout dishes..also would be fun for a future game to sit in their outdoor space. It's touted as an Asian fusion restaurant, but their tea leaf salad has remained as unadulterated as it has since they first started serving it at the original BS on Clement St. Their bar carries a wide variety of different liquors, and we immediately grew curious about their slushy machines. We ended-up ordering the Kipling, which was a coconut pandan cocktail, and so refreshing on a sunny winter day. The servers were extremely attentive, and I could tell right off the bat that they all carried themselves to the same standards of excellence. Our bartender checked each and every single glass and serving ware prior to dishing it out to patrons. This small act of keen attention to detail says everything about what a restaurant aspires to be. Great Burmese spot with a cute bar and patio area next to the Chase Center. We went last night before the Laufey concert and the service was pretty quick, although our cocktails came way after the food did. Favorite was the octopus and the runner up was the tea leaf salad. With a concert on a Friday evening at Chase, the four of us were deciding where to dine beforehand. Our first choice nearby was fully booked for the 2 1/2 hours before the concert time. One of us suggested the relatively new, Kayah, located on the left side of Thrive City Plaza of Chase Center. We were able to get 5pm Open Table reservations. Arriving at 5pm and checking in with the host, we were asked if we wanted inside or outside seating. We opted for inside which was about 75% full. Checking out the menu, we decided to share two starters before our entrees. The starters arrived, Tea Leaf Salad - a Burmese specialty. The dish is brought with all nine items separately displayed on the dish before the waiter mixes them together before it is served. Roti Platha with three dips, coconut chicken curry, which had a piece of chicken, Vermont honey butter and truffle crema. Three unique dips, but I enjoyed the honey butter the most. Not shortly after the Platha was served and as we were still enjoying the starters, my Steak & Frites entrée came. Of course I couldn't start my entrée. Then the Mohinga, a fish chowder came. The bowl of soup was on the bottom and a separate bowl rested on top with the various ingredients that you put into the soup. Next came Kayah Banana Leaf Fish nicely presented in a banana leaf and a bowl of salsa and sticky rice on the side. The four entrée, garlic noodles was late to the game. Three of us were about half-way into our entrees before we flagged down our waiter inquiring about the garlic noodles. Shortly after, the noodles came. We enjoyed our food, but found the service to be haphazard with three incidents. My entrée being served shortly after the starters came. When the fish entrée came, the server did not ask who had the fish and just put the dish in front of one of two of us without an entrée and that was the wrong diner. Then the garlic noodles being delivered so late. Our waiter did a good job in explaining the menu items and taking our orders. It's when the servers that brought the food that had no connection with us diners. Just drop the food off and go. Granted it was busy and restaurant was full, but that does not make bad service acceptable. Had to deduct a star for this. read more

My go-to meal spot before or after a Chase Center event! Nice Burmese restaurant close to Chase Center. We ordered the Mini Samusas, the Plancha Calamari, the Garlic Noodles, Alameda Brewing Cali Man Calamansi Pilsner, and Lychee Express Mocktail. The Mini Samusas were good. Although small, they packed quite a punch with flavor. Loved the curry flavored peas and potatoes. It was not too spicy. The coriander chutney was nice. Gave the Samusas a nice zest and added spice. The Plancha Calamari was a pleasant surprise. The dish was sour, sweet, and a little bit spicy. The squid was nice and tender. I found the grapes in the meal unique. It balanced the acidity of the lime and added a delightful crunch. The Garlic Noodles were also unique. It seemed like some sort of fusion dish to me. The spaghetti noodles with grated Parmesan cheese, cucumber pickles, and garlic chips was a winning combination in flavor. The noodles had a nice chew. Loved the garlic chips with their crispy texture and texture. The calamansi Pilsner was good. Glad to know that this place serves local craft beers from the East Bay. The beer is very refreshing with its citrus flavor and crisp finish. Nice light beer to wash down our meal. The Lychee Express mocktail was good. Loved the presentation of the drink with its vibrant pink color and a lychee fruit skewered on top of the glass and ice. The taste reminded me of an exotic pink lemonade with lychee and some dragonfruit flavor. Overall, nice experience in Kayah by Burma Love outside of Chase Center. Great way to spend our anniversary and see our beloved Warriors play live. read more

This is the same Burmese restaurant franchise that also owns Burma love, Burmese superstar and teakwood in Hayes valley. This location has a more upscale approach to Burmese dinning experience and it's understandable for the slightly higher price points. Great ambience, amazing service (Jose was lovely) and above average traditional Burmese food. 1 dish was a missed, hence not a full 5/5. But here's what we got: - tea leaf salad: smoky, not too bitter and tasted very unique compared to other tea leaf salad I had around the bay. Def a must get! (They can make it vegan or vegetarian upon request too) - roti: HUGE PORTION, comes with 3 sides too! The traditional curry with a good amount of chicken, sweet butter cream and a truffle crème fraiche. The roti itself it's very well done, flaky, crispy but not too oily. - pork belly: highlight of the meal! The pork was incredibly tender and moist, and skin was perfectly crispy. The pork flavor was very noticeable but wasn't too gamey at all. Comes with a dipping sauce that compliments the pork, the slaw could use some extra acidity but overall, pretty refreshing and paired well with the fattiness of the pork itself:) -coconut cod: not my favorite. The toppings on the fish were way too salty to my liking and not really anything to write home about. The only plus is that it came with the sticky rice. The salsa on the side seemed to be out of place too and doesn't really quite pair well with the fish... Will definitely come back again. read more
