Again not usually a mashed potatoes person but this one tasted SO good and I liked how it wasn't 100% mashed lol, and it was seasoned too. Stopped by here while waiting for our reservations at another restaurant and ended up really enjoying the vibe. The people here were very welcoming from the moment we walked in. We grabbed seats at the bar and browsed the menu, which honestly looked pretty good with very reasonable prices, but we were just there for drinks this time. I ordered the MEZ-CALI MARGARITA with verde amaras mezcal, agave, lime, orange, pineapple, smoke bubble, chilled with a tajin rim and served on the rocks. Not bad at all, the tajin rim really made the drink and tied everything together nicely. Came for dinner, left full and satisfied! We can to Sangria and Salt with a big party, so first off, very happy we were able to accomodate everyone! The space itself is big and event-friendly, so if you are looking to find a spot, this might be it. We ordered a ton of dishes, but the ones that stood out the most to me was the Guava BBQ chicken and mushroom pasta. The chicken was tender and tasted sweet but savory, giving a nice balance. The pasta was a hit with everyone at the table and was a fan favorite. Small shoutout to the yucca frites too, I could not stop snacking on them the whole night, they were great as an appetizer for the table. Great vibes for weekend brunch! Super chill experience and never felt rushed. Usually brunch is too overstimulating for me with how packed and busy some places get. Favorite dish was the Cajun Shrimp Eggs Benedict. I loved the cajun sauce on this and everything was cooked to perfection and paired well with each other. Everything else I tried was ok. I wasn't a big fan of the sauce and rice in the Jamaican Jerk Sauce Beef Steak Loco Moco. But I enjoyed the beef steak part of it. Guava Creme Brûlée French Toast tasted like a french toast to me. I found out about this place by walking through the neighborhood and found the name to be kinda cute so decided to check it out. Didn't have too high of expectations as I've not heard too much about it. When we first entered either the manager or owner whoever was super friendly and the vibes are really cute inside. However one dish that was just okay were the shishito peppers, they were SUPER salty, maybe just a heavy handed day but the flavor was good. When the paella came I totally forgot it was creole paella so I was like ohh didn't seem that authentic, it was very buttery and great flavors, but then my friend was like yeah it's creole remember? We got the following items: Guava Creme Brulee French toast, Cajun Shrimp Eggs Benedict, and the Shredded Jerk Chicken Chilaquiles. My mouth is watering just remembering everything I ate. The Cajun Shrimp Eggs benedict was a great twist on the class eggs benedict, especially if you're a seafood fan - perfect, jammy egg and beautifully cooked shrimp. The chilaquiles were a mix of perfect flavors in my mouth, saucy but crispy at the same time, and the chicken was a hit. If you have a sweet tooth, you cannot go wrong with the Guava Creme French toast! It was the refreshing ending we needed for our meal. We really wanted to like this place. The fact that they offered jerk chicken chilaquiles did us in. Everything was great in the beginning, we were seated promptly, given menus, and orders taken within minutes of walking in. Our food even came promptly! At least two of the dishes we ordered. Said chilaquiles and the cajun shrimp egg Benedict arrived promptly. But the other entrée didn't get there until about 10 minutes after we got ours. We ordered the guava crème brûlée French toast to share and we started eating that before our entrées because we didn't want to eat before the rest of our party had their food. By the time that last entrée arrived, we were pretty full. And, unfortunately, the crispy beef vaca grits entrée was very disappointing. It was supposed to come with two poached eggs that were very well done. Our waitress acknowledged it as soon as she put the plate down, and told us that the chef will be sending an order of poached eggs because the ones on the plate weren't good. (I don't know why they put it on the plate if they didn't feel it was good enough, but whatever.) Well, those eggs never appeared. They went missing just like a waitress lol Anyway, I think I liked the chilaquiles, but was un impressed with the French toast. The menu stated that it was "guava" but I didn't taste any guava whatsoever. It might have been the sauce that they drizzle over it, but it didn't taste like guava to me at all. It was a quiet evening during the holidays and the staff was fairly attentive, always checking on us to ask if we were okay. We were each impressed with our drinks, Cha Cha Cha, Sangria, and 'Ol Smokey. For apps we ordered the classic cajun shrimp, so glad they kept this on the menu, it was literally the best thing we had. While I won't say the food is not good, it's just not anything I've never had before. I probably won't run back to this place unless it's for drinks and apps before a night out. I LOVE this place. My friends from elementary and middle school and I came here on a Saturday night in early November. Sangria & Salt occupies the space that cha-cha-cha used to be in. Wanna know one of the most amazing things about this new restaurant? They carried over a few of the old cha-cha-cha menu items and made it even better. The ambience is amazing. I love the way it's decorated and how they make the bar the main focus of the room. The artwork on the walls are beautiful. The music is amazing. Everything is such a vibe. We had the most wonderful time here. The drinks, food and everything was on point. The only thing I really think they need to work on, is their dessert menu. Our group of 14 had a great brunch here on a Saturday afternoon! The food was tasty, the service was attentive and prompt (impressive, given the size of our group), and the space was pleasant. My husband and I shared an order of the chilaquiles and an order of the chicken and waffles - both dishes were delicious. While they didn't have a kids menu, they had sides at a reasonable price that worked out well for the kiddos (my 7 year old got a $6 waffle and a $5 side of bacon strips). Our group also ordered two pitchers of sangria - they were decent, but not amazing - we abandoned the 2nd pitcher. The staff was very friendly, organized, and attentive - they did a great job handling our large group and getting food and drinks out promptly. The staff was also welcoming of the 6 kids in our party, which we appreciated. The space - the old Cha Cha Cha space - was pleasant, and not very busy on a Saturday afternoon. The owner greeted us when we arrived and was super welcoming (and hooked us up with complimentary flan at the end! Thanks!) The creole paella was filled with seafood which was super tasty. In town for a wedding and had a friend suggest we stop at her friend Johnnys restaurant. He met us at the door with champagne and was beyond welcoming. Sangria & Salt absolutely delivered. We started with the calamari, burrata, and ribs, and every appetizer was excellent. The ribs were incredibly tender and packed with flavor--easily one of the highlights of the meal. For my entrée, I ordered the beef stroganoff, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I also had the chance to sample several of the pasta dishes my friends ordered, and every one of them was outstanding. It's clear that a lot of care goes into both the preparation and quality of the ingredients. The food was consistently delicious from start to finish, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the overall experience made for a fantastic night out. Came to Sangria & Salt for brunch this past Saturday and really enjoyed it! We had a party of 6 people and sat in the front where we had a god view of the bar and indoor decor. The restaurant is beautiful and bright with flowers spread all throughout the space! I had been here in the past when it was Cha Cha Chas and while the vibe was always cool, it always seemed so dark and gloomy inside. Now, it's bright and colorful and just makes you want to be in a space like that - like it makes you feel good and happy. It was not a lot of people while we were there so it felt like we had the place all to ourselves for the most part. Our server, Sam, was awesome. She was super personable and kept checking in to make sure we were good. We also stayed awhile after we closed out the bill and didn't feel rushed like we had to get up and leave. The owner, Johnny, also stopped by and chatted with us for a while (he's also an SF native). He was super cool and we really appreciated him coming over to introduce himself. Everyone got a different item and everyone had no complaints on their food and drinks. I got the crispy beef hash and it was amazing. Very flavorful and the beef was cooked just right. This was the old Cha Cha Cha's and this place is even better than from what I remembered. The moody Florals are just my vibe. It was so beautiful stepping inside, I was so excited about just being in this space. It was a Friday night and I was having dinner with my cousins and we were excited to try the food here. We ordered four shareable plates, two pasta plates and a dessert. There was a half pitcher of red sangria and I had a strawberry vodka. Everything that was served to us was flavorful and delicious. If I'm going to start from my top favorite, I would say that the warm spinach salad was just yummy. I couldn't get enough of that sauce, which was what we were told by our excellent server, Fernando, paillard. So good, I googled it so I can try to replicate it at home. The calamari was calamari, and it was perfectly crispy and yummy. We ordered these smoked spareribs and it was enough to share between the four of us and that was delicious with the pickled vegetables, but it wasn't my favorite. Everyone liked it. The flavor was good, but my portion was the tough and dry part of it, so as much as I enjoyed the flavor, I did not enjoy the texture. We also had grilled asparagus, which was good because we need the veggies. I would have to say that the papperelle noodles were my favorite because the creamy sauce was just to die for. That gave us about 1-1/2 hours which was fine. We came for Happy hour 4-7pm served only at the bar. Perfect! Their bar is centrally located and very big so plenty of seating. Started with their classic Sangria and fried Calamari Fritti both from their happy hour menu. Sangria was nice and tasty (bigger pour would be nice :) Calamari hot and crispy. They served us fast so we had time to eat and a comfortable pace. Cajun Shrimp Pappardelle, Creamy, cheesy and rich in a good way. Perfect pasta and good portion of large shrimp. Seafood Fettuccine, Nice combination of Shrimp, Bay Scallops, Calamari and Mussels. Seafood and pasta cooked to perfection. We tried the ceviche, salsa, yuca frita, guacamole, shrimp, tacos, crab cake, ribs, and glass of sangria. Service was friendly and pretty good. The restaurant was pretty full but the time we left and nice to see it busy. Happy hour definitely felt like a good deal. The salsa, guacamole, and ceviche came with loads of chips and were great. Portion of the ceviche was good as well. Tacos were flavorful and loved the yuca frites and the texture. The shrimp and sauce was delicious and loved dipping the bread and even the chips in the sauce. Crab cake was ok but nothing special. The ribs were so tasty, tender and juicy, loved the sauce and pomegranates but felt like it was just a bit too much sauce. I'd definitely come back and try some other dishes and recommend happy hour. read more

I wad invited to a curated dinner here and it was the absolute best. The atmosphere was nice and we were greeted when we arrived. the drinks were good my favorite was the strawberry lemon drop with tequila. i tried a little of everything but i will list my favorites. the cajun shrimp was so good i'll be back for those forsure. the caesar salad was great, , ropa vieja and creole paella was great as well. the customer service was amazing. I really like this spot. First off when you walk in the restaurant is really pretty and has such a good vibe inside. So much seating and a large bar in the middle with seating all around. I wish I remembered the girl that was helping us out with drinks and food. She was so cool! They have a lot of great looking option on their menu. So I'll need to go back to try these out. We just went for the HH that's available when you sit at the bar. The jerk chicken tacos were so juicy and flavorful. Definitely recommend these on the HH menu. Great spot! I made no photos of the food. Quite possibly because I was so busy stuffing it in my face. From the starters (Yuca Frita fries and guacamole/chips) through the mains - Ropa Vieja (the rice dish, not the pasta), Cajun Shrimp Pappardelle, and the paella, it was all so very delicious. Seriously. Now I'm starving just thinking about it. In the heart of the legit Mission, two months old, young proprietor with his first restaurant (Hot Johnnies) in the Castro (and we will go, there is no doubt about that), wait staff and support all so friendly, prompt and attentive this has to be on your list of places to try soon. And after it will migrate off that list onto your list of places to return to again and again.
