Finally had a chance to try Starbelly! Had a great experience on the patio. Cute little spot. The Roasted Corn Pizza with Lime and Cilantro was fantastic. Very summery flavors. Enjoyed the sardine toast too.

I've been coming to Starbelly for years, which is why it's disappointing to say that my last three visits have been underwhelming. The pâté is still excellent--the quality of the dish itself remains a highlight--but the experience around it has changed. The generous accompaniments that used to make it feel special have been scaled back. What used to come with a tablespoon-sized portion of mustard and preserves now feels closer to a teaspoon. It's a small detail, but those details are part of what made the dish memorable. Overall, this feels like a case of skimpflation. Portions seem smaller than they were even a few months ago, while prices have stayed the same or increased. We ordered the pâté, corn pizza, salad, fries, and sparkling water. Right before hitting show. The fries were especially disappointing--pretty mediocre and not something I'd order again. At this point, I'd rather walk down the street to Hi Tops if I'm craving fries. I also really miss the old Brussels sprouts dish. It used to be one of my favorites, but over time they've become consistently overcooked, and I eventually stopped ordering them. The menu overall feels safer and less exciting than it used to. I especially miss the Starbelly pizza and pasta, which gave the restaurant more personality and creativity. One small but noticeable change: sparkling water used to be complimentary, but now it's something you have to purchase, and only the large bottle is offered. On its own, this isn't a major issue, but combined with the smaller portions and inconsistent execution, it adds to the feeling that the overall value has slipped. I have a lot of appreciation for Starbelly and the years of great meals I've had there. This isn't a review from someone who dislikes the restaurant--it's from someone who remembers how good it used to be. I hope they can find their way back to the balance of quality, generosity, and neighborhood charm that made it a favorite in the first place. place.

After completing a CPR training for my company, which ended sooner than I thought, I reached to a buddy in the area. I asked him if he wanted to grab a late lunch. Fortunately, he said yes. He suggested Starbelly. I hadn't eat there in several years and was glad to see they were still in business and still doing well. We both when with the chicken sandwich & fries. Man, was it good! The chicken was crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. Like Ric Flair would shout, WOOOH!!!! We complemented the sandwiches with beers. Of course we did. Everything was great, including the service. Here are your pics.

Starbelly is one of my favorite restaurants in the Castro; it's great for brunch and dinner. They usually participate in SF restaurant week and they offer drag brunch! The service is always great. Ambiance is cute and fun. You can show up casual or dress up. I love sitting in the covered outdoor back patio but they do have two tables full outside in the front if you have a dog. We came here the Monday after pride and it was packed despite the rest of the Castro being quiet. For dinner, i love their pizzas! We got the bacon one and corn one. They usually offer seasonal items. Highly recommend this spot for a date, impressing out of towners, or spending time with friends. I'll be back!

Came here for late lunch and they were still serving brunch but I got the sausage pizza. It had a crispy under carriage and flavorful. I couldn't finish the whole pie so I took half of it home service was efficient. The restaurant ambiance is okay. It can be noisy for conversations as voices echoes.

Waiter was friendly, food was great, a little pricey but it was good! We got the deviled eggs, chilaquiles? and the fried chicken sandwich! Everything was pretty solid, the fries that came with the sandwich were a little stale or something and could be a little crispier. The ambience in the restaurant is lovely and they have a back patio that is even better! Very lively for a Sunday brunch. We also ordered a mocktail, I forgot what it was called but it came in a cute little bear cup! Would come back again for lunch or dinner! (Different menu)

Starbelly you are truly solid and they could never make me hate you! The Thai style mussels were fantastic and that sauce was so lemongrassy and delicious. I will say what's up with the bread portion...? we ordered extra too and that's what you see in the photo lol. I assume it normally just comes with one piece. Their salads are refreshing and I love their patio on a sunny, warm day.

I think the brief on this place is it's good but your experience will vary depending on when you are there and where you sit. There's a dining area off back and they looked like they were having a blast. We were upfront at a high top. There was some kitchen noise there and the bartender waited on us. Some mix up on food. Food was well presented and a B+. Chia pudding with onion flavored granola was a little out there.

This is one of the most unique pieces I ate lunch at. The tuna melt was out of the world delicious. The service was very friendly and very attentive to my desires. The ambiance of the place was excellent as well. I recommend this place to go have lunch at if you're in San Francisco. I give them 5 stars

I found out about this place atvone of the Yelp Elite event and decided to bring my friends here. Great place for a dinner gathering with friends. They have outdoor patio in the back if you prefer the outdoor vibe. Everything tasted delicious. Just wish the salad size was bigger. This was the biggest size that we could get. The bear cup alcohol is just like the Starbucks bear cup. It's so cute so we couldn't say no to it. The drink itself was good so it wasn't just a drink for picture.

top to bottom: signature chicken liver pate, pan roasted black mussels, rigatoni
    Emily C.

Tldr: Pricey but good food and moody ambiance. Good for dinner dates. My friend and I had dinner here a few weeks ago. The food was amazing! The chicken liver pate was extremely buttery and was the star of the dinner. It was served with an onion jam (sweet), a dijon mustard, and toasted bread. It's a very agreeable pate as the chicken liver flavor wasn't that strong. The mussels were spicy and citrusy which helped cut through the fattier entrees we ordered. The rigatoni was definitely the "worst" of the three. While it tasted good, it wasn't particularly interesting and the portion size felt small. The people serving us were also very attentive and were very knowledgeable about each of the dishes. (I didn't know the jam was an onion jam till our waiter told us!)

Went here for dinner the other day with a few friends, and we had the most lovely experience. First off, our servers were super friendly and attentive to all our needs. We ordered quite the spread: the butternut squash soup, deviled eggs, brussels sprout pizza, roasted salmon, pork chop, and the mussels. Everything was so delicious. But the standouts were definitely the mussels and the brussel sprout pizza! The flavors were impeccable! Oh, we also got dessert. We got the blueberry, brown butter, cornbread, and the cheesecake Panna cotta. They were both so delicious but honestly, you need to order the brown butter cornbread. It was so so good. I need to go back just for that! The overall vibe in this place is super cute and cozy. They have an outdoor patio with a ton of plants.

Starbelly was just OK for us. Da Wahini and I were in the area and decide to pay a visit to Starbelly based on the reviews and the fact we had Starbelly bookmarked for a while. Good size venue with a small amount of outdoor seating in the front and additional outside seating in the back covered by a large tent. The inside is more of a bar. Parking...good luck with that. Popular neighborhood with street parking available. The menu here is seasonal, so it changes on a regular basis. I forgot the name of our server, but nice guy. The service was very good. The staff were on top of everything. #StarbellyGrindz: COCKTAILS: ~ SALTY DOG - 4/5 Strong and solid cocktail. All the flavors worked well. I could taste the Elderflower and Grapefruit ~ BEARS, BEARS, BEARS! - 3.5/5 Our server said this was the best drink on the menu, I can't say I agree with that statement. To each their own. Brilliant presentation, possibly just not a fond flavor profile of mine... even though I'm a big Earl Grey fan. This just didn't work for me PLATES: ~ rigatoni - 3.5/5 I thought the rigatoni was OK, slightly better than average, but nothing to rave about. I had a hard time identifying the protein as Lamb. Portion was on the smaller size, not all that filling. ~ ground chuck beef burger - 3.5/5 w/ starbelly salad - 4.5/5 While the Burger was decent, it wasn't all that special. Nothing stood out about it and it was tiny! almost like a bigger slider... The salad was very good. Once is enough for me. I don't need to return; I wasn't a fan of the portion sizes and didn't think the food was outstanding.

The patty was cooked through, still tender, and well-seasoned. Quite fatty, so just know that! The combo of the sauce, cheese, and onions was fantastic, but it did make for a more slippery experience. IMO if you aren't able to speak to guests with kindness & understanding, even if you're unable to accommodate a request, you should maybe rethink your role in hospitality.   We settled on moving outside, which was totally fine, and finished our meal there. We then come to realize the staff knew the loud table next to us. It definitely left us feeling that their personal friendships were prioritized over kindness and respect toward other guests. We ordered the Oaxaca, which did not explicitely say was more of a "shot" than a drink. We also ordered the guayaba which we liked. The guava tasted fresh and I liked that the rose petal flavor really came through with a flavorful floral addition. The ceviche was good, and the creaminess from the coconut rounded out the flavor well. The chips were also seasoned well with some spices. We mostly just came for the views and ambiance, which I will say was beautiful.

The vibe was incredible, a live salsa band, everyone dancing, people having a good time... we definitely came on the perfect night! The band played until around 8 PM, which worked out perfectly because our dinner reservation was at 8:15. After dancing and enjoying the music, we got to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen from this rooftop. Such a beautiful way to start the evening. And the food made the experience even better! The menu is mostly small bites, so we ordered several dishes to share. We started with the classic ceviche, which was fresh, citrusy, and so good with the chips. We also had the al pastor tacos with pineapple, flavorful and a classic combination that worked perfectly. But the arepitas... OMG! Definitely my favorite. They come with three little arepas filled with shredded beef, and they were SO good. Between all the dishes, it was actually plenty of food for two people, and we left very satisfied. For drinks, we tried the guava and passion fruit mocktails, and both were refreshing and had really nice flavor. I've been to Cavana before, and I already thought it was a great place to stop for drinks or food before a concert at Chase Center or a Giants game. But this Sunday experience made me love it even more. It's also such a nice spot for a date night or just hanging out with friends. I don't know what the rest of their weekly schedule looks like, but this particular Sunday was a 10/10, salsa, great food, rooftop views, and a beautiful San Francisco sunset.

I went in before the game the place was somewhat Vibing they had a balcony, fireplace, different seating areas and a bar, and they serve food. It wasn't that busy so the bartender came right over. I think his name was Dominic and he got me an IPA. The first time I went I also tried the deviled eggs (3) and they were cool. I have to say my buddies tried the chips and salsa so it came with some guac salsa and a bowl of chips. It was pretty good too. a , but after the game we came back in the place was still a vibe. It was cool and we are went back a few days later for another game with another buddy and sure enough it was cool this time I had a margarita and the expert Cadillac and he floated something like some triple sec in it and when we inquired about the Grand Marnier with him, he got a little attitude although the female bartender said that when she made Cadillac margaritas, she used grandma Marnie, so that was interesting but other than that, I would recommend a spot.

My martini ($13) was really good, I especially loved the olives they use here. I like the lounge style seating, there were couches, nooks, and chairs arranged in a very comfortable fashion. There were a decent amount of people inside for a Thursday night, mostly small groups of friends or people on dates. It's a really nice atmosphere, very relaxed and inviting to hangout in. Everyone in the bar was weirdly attractive and dressed well for San Francisco and that added to the vibes for sure too lol. Friendly bartender and good cocktail menu, they also have a kitchen for small bites. I am definitely coming back!
