Drove by this area and discovered this brewing co. My husband and I looked it up on yelp and saw their menu that they had a few different kinds of stout, which are our favorite. We drove down there and we're all settled to have a glass of stout... Much to our disappointment they didn't have any and had it for a while apparently. However we did try a brown beer, Belgium style, called "panic at the monastery." It was very good and we enjoyed it a lot. We will definitely go back. Hoping they will get the stout with espresso they had in the past. A suggestion would be for them to update their menu on yelp so people are not disappointed. Another suggestion would be to fix the jukebox so it actually plays the songs customers select. Overall though we had a great experience! read more

The guy that works here with the beard is one of the rudest people I have ever encountered. I was sitting at the bar & kept overhearing him talk badly about some of the customers. Saying stuff like "f*ck that guy." I love this place & I go here all the time, but I'm going to go somewhere else solely because of how rude that guy is. There's definitely other breweries out there with better staff. read more

This place Rocks!!! East County needed this, The owners Jeff and Mike are great people . The entire staff is friendly the beers selection is great the Dankness IPA is by far the top seller the Hopnata IPA is also good The Stouts ( Holy The Voyd and Ingsoc Russian Imperial ) they have on tap are very tasty you can get the stouts in Nitro. They play killer music on the jukebox. I Highly recommend coming here and having a few Beers. read more

Dropped in last Friday afternoon for the first time. I was very excited about a new brewery opening 4 blocks from my apt. and Burning Beard didn't disappoint. Right off I noticed a lot of parking on the street so I knew my friends wouldn't have a hard time there. walking in there is an instant vibe with music playing in the jukebox and pretty dope aesthetics. The place was about half full of genuine beer drinking crowd some with well behaved kids and lacking the common snobbery of tasting rooms. I was really looking forward to trying their Dankness Visible IPA and it was on tap. Gorgeous looking amber pour with an aroma and flavor to match. I wanted to taste some others but their other IPA was out and I was enamored with the Dankness Visible and doubled down. Service was excellent. Never waited more than minute for one of the #LadyBeards to help us out. Very friendly and courteous. If it wasn't for ample parking, legit punk and old school rock music and helpful, non-pretentious staff I would think i was at a 30th St. grog joint. It's like Quad Alehouse and Poor House Brewing had a kid that emancipated to El Cajon. Overall i couldn't be happier with the place and I am looking forward to meeting my fellow hop heads here often. If you are looking for a legit alehouse in the East County it has finally arrived. I will be trying to talk my fantasy football league into having our draft at The Beard if they will have us. Since I don't drink beer, my review is only for the ambience and staff. I came here for a birthday party and it was in the back room where they store the wine barrels. It's a good size room and they had tables set up for the party and allowed us to decorate it, bring in cake and sodas, and even bring in a taco truck. The staff is very attentive and brought us whatever we needed. There is no food but I think I'm certain nights they have food trucks outside. Good place to come to unwind after work if you work nearby. read more

What a cool spot! I rode by the other day and decided to take a break from the sun...glad I did! Jeff the owner introduced himself right away and then took some time to bS with me about what to check out in SD (I just moved here). Let me tell you, the cats here are super friendly and cool. The beer is really something. I only had one pint of the Dankness, and a coupe of samples, but I am very impressed! Can't wait to check out the rest of their brews. Overall? This is a great brewery that also happens to right around the corner from home. Always a great selection of brews on tap, from ipa's to ales. They have a jukebox that's loaded with tons of great music that is sure to please any music lovers taste(especially metal heads and punk rockers). Staff is always super friendly and insanely knowledgeable of all beers. Dogs are welcome here as well. If you get a little hungry there's usually some type of food truck on site. So stop by this little gem an grab a tasty beverage (I recommend any of the hazy's or the award winning banksy). read more

Love this place! Been 4 times now and is consistently good. The staff knows their beers, can make recommendations based on your tastes, is incredibly friendly and laid back. Given the number of great beer bars in San Diego, getting a five star rating is quite a feat. After visiting Burning Beard a few times, a five star rating was a no-brainer. Beer: really amazing. Hopmata and Holy the Voyd are AMAZING. Hopmata stands up against any San Diego IPA I've tasted (and I've been drinking too much for over a decade). Holy the Voyd, however, is the best stout I've ever had. Period. Ambience: legit. Their jukebox is an education in punk and metal. Sometimes, a benevolent musical dictatorship pays off. This is one of those times. Food Trucks: Tasty, ever-changing grub to soak up the strong brews. Intangible: some places just feel right. This is one of them. Honest, unique, and well-run. Worth the trek out to El Cajon for sure. read more

Beers were top notch and the staff Torry and Alex are extremely knowledgeable which greatly added to the experience. Loved the Holy the Void and Ingsoc as well as the Deflowered at the Monastery. The bartenders were super knowledgeable, friendly, and toddler friendly. We felt welcome and had a blast! We will be back.

Enjoyed a great night with friends on the front patio - we were there for a few hours and even ordered a pizza (it was Sunday, no food truck). We had our kids with us and they were coloring and having a great time. Parking was easy and the staff was extremely friendly. Beers are alright, not as refreshing as it sounds. Great customer service and atmosphere, but I won't be dropping by here again for a beer. Had the dank beer and hopmata and they both are reg IPAs but something about the after taste that leaves a stingful taste. I'm an IPA person, and after drinking these, it may have to be one of the worst I've had. For $6 a pint, I would rather pay a little more to get a pack of Lagunitas or Ballast Point instead. Nice small social environment to hang out, but the IPA beers aren't all that great to try. read more

What a great place to get some really traditional beer. They take notes from Trappist Monks recipes. The beer is flavorful and full bodied. There is really something for everyone. During this pandemic they are doing to-go beer. The staff is very friendly and happy to recommend something if you don't know what you are looking for. Love the industrial style furniture too.
