I visit once a week for lunch as I work down the street from the one on Ohio Street off of Michigan Ave in Chicago. The food and menu is excellent. But watch out if you get the young lady that is always angry if they do not have her on the cash register. She is very surly about serving the requested selection. Today, I asked for " only a little" hot salsa for my Lo Carb bowl and she dumped nearly a cup in the bowl. When I asked her to scoop a little of it out, she handed the bowl to her supervisor to finish. On another occasion, a different young lady asked for my order and then went on break without saying anything to me or the next customer that she had also asked for her order. This is why, the $15 an hour protests fall on deaf ears. So great food, but service depends on who is on the food line. read more

Took a trip to the heart of downtown Chicago and stumbled on this place, so I decided to have lunch there and see what happens. I absolutely loved it! They have a large selection of ingredients to put into your taco/burrito and have a very helpful staff. The menu also has pre-selected meals if you need to grab a meal on the go. Prices are very affordable for downtown Chicago food and the delicious food you receive. The atmosphere is also very cozy and modern. I highly recommend this place for either grabbing a quick meal or hanging out with friends. read more

I'm not sure why the review won't update but I have altered my review to three stars. The owner greg kindly wrote to us immediately to address our concers. While i feel the issue is more a chain issue and not with this partiuclar branch, so there's only so much Greg could really do to fix the menu choices, etc, I have updated my review to three stars because of Greg's concern. This is the way a business should be run and I now am updating my review to indicate A-OK. I appreciate it Greg and we might try you again for the guacomole :) [Earlier review] Way overreated, this place serves the cheapest lettuce at least it seems like it .... and once in awhile you will run into a bone in the meat that they serve, I go here because it is nearby. That is truly the only reason. However, I would not go here if there was anywhere else nearer by that had anything I wanted regarding burritos, tacos, or other mexican items. Their guacomole is decent IF it is fresh and but more than once they're given me guacomole that is BROWN on the top!!! I don't understand why people feel this is "upscale" for a burrito grab and go. It's not. I also forgot to mention that their beans tend to be watery and they don't wrap their burritos well, they fall apart in your hand and fall apart constantly. I also heard that this place If I could give this one and a half stars I would. You shouldn't go here. It sounds fun, Burrito Beach, a taste of Mexican and a hot spot to relax and sun. And with a word like beach when its 27 degrees out how can you not be tempted to at least stop in. Well the heat was on so it was warm but by no means was it as exciting as a beach. While the options are more plentiful than Chipotle, it as a whole was still disappointing. The cheese was minimal, the sour cream was watery, and the salsa was too liquidy in my Baja Chicken Burrito. I also wasnt impressed by the rice it seemed day old instead of fresh like other places. In the end if you're looking for a trip to the beach wait for the summer and go to north Avenue. read more

I was so happy to find a location open on Sundays! I used to frequent the Michigan Avenue location. I used to go everyday for lunch and get nachos-sometimes chicken, sometimes beef. I cannot get enough of those damn nachos! I also like the tacos. I was surprised but pleased to see that they serve Intelligentsia coffee. The ingredients always taste fresh and of a pretty decent quality. The strawberry lemonade was tasty too. read more

No Chipotle--there's no argument there. BUT I keep coming back for one reason: the Cajun Shrimp Burrito! Sometimes I wake up CRAVING that stuff and I just HAVE to have it. It's always a gamble though.. the burrito is really soggy at times and will completely fall apart after 2 bites. Other times they really skimp on the filling and you end up with a sad and skinny burrito (which is why I always get the chips and guac, too, just to make sure my tummy is satisfied.. 2 thumbs up for the chips and guac). I've eaten here a couple of times but I have to agree with other reviewers thar this place is expensive. I purchased a rice and beans bowl. It seemed that as you go down the line the spoonful shrinks. Everything I asked for was only half a spoonful. If you are going to give small portions then usw a smaller spoon. I left feeling robbed of my meal. Also I ended up paying 8 dollars for a bowl that didn't have meat in it. read more

I have used Burrito Beach twice for catering for my morning meetings as of late.The people that attend these meetings love the ham and bacon breakfast burritos. They come early so I can setup and the food is packaged so well that they are always hot. They even send all the plates, forks, knives, sugar, napkins, cups, lids and even cups for the orange juice plus straws. They miss nothing for a perfect morning snack and I will know use them for every morning meeting I have. Great job done by Janet in catering as she ensures every detail is handled. I highly recommend them plus they are very affordable for a group of 10- 12!!!! read more

I went here for lunch before the lunch rush. At 1130, there was no one in line. I ordered great tasting veggie tacos that come with chips and salsa, got extra guac, and a rather bad mango agua fresca. The kicker was the price-it seemed a bit high, so I requested the receipt. Cashier charged me for salsa and chips included in meal, and left off charge for guac. Instead of apologizing and refunding me, Cashier explained 3 times that it's only a 70 cent difference. I get it. Please refund me for your mistake. Cashier fished in their tip jar, handing me pennies and making me look like an ass for asking for a refund. Uhh, thanks? Out of steak, out of rice, out of guacamole. I wouldn't normally mind it, but the attendant claimed the steak was going to take a while to cook. Unfortunately by the time I got tomatoes (30 seconds or so) steak was actually ready to go! It's one thing to be out of stuff, that is understandable... The steak is amazing quality. The vegetable are fresh and add so much flavor. Basically a much better version of Chipotle. Staff is quick and even ask if you want a toasted burrito. I highly recommend the steak tacos with a flour tortilla! The meats that they have are high quality and light so that when you are done with your meal, you do not feel sleepy or tired/lazy. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The workers are BEYOND RUDE and they DO NOT treat customers with any respect or care. Do not patronize this terrible location. The service is appalling and disgusting! The food is also not proportioned well. They will give you a tortilla with a very, very tiny pinch of meat that is ridiculous in size. Well, to start with I have to say that there is no good Mexican restaurant downtown. Not really. So i eat at burrito beach maybe once a month since there's nothing else within walking distance from my job. I know that this place is probably better than macdonalds and similar fast food, but compared to loads of cheaper taco joints, this place is only mediocre. I always feel a little sick to my stomach after eating a burrito from burrito beach. I don't like their "home-made" salsas at all. To me, the best bet here is a steak burrito on a spinach burrito, but if you want real tacos, buy a plane ticket to san diego and stop by Roberto's, where they teach the surfing classes. Best tacos / burritos i ever had. Burrito Beach varies depending on the people who work there I believe. One time I ordered steak nachos to go, and they were like huge container filled to the top of nachos and toppings. Then I ordered the same thing like a week or so later, and it was half the nachos and 25% less toppings. Their burritos are decent, as well as tacos. I get coupons in the mail, so that sweetens the deal. Like free taco with burrito or free quesadilla with burrito. So that's obviously fairly sweet as well. read more

This is a solid 4 star fast-casual restaurant. I think its a great addition to your dinner or lunch rotation. Burrito Beach is a good place to pick up a quick burrito or quesadilla, the burritos they serve here tend to be pretty fresh and light compared to the traditional gut-bombs that you might find at a standard burrito joint or at Chipotle. I especially like this location because they have longer hours & are close to the River East movie theaters. They also have a store at O'Hare, which if you are traveling is a nice alternative to the general junk foods that you tend to find at airports. read more

What is with burrito chains? So far, I have not had a good burrito at a chain restaurant that specializes in them. The blacks beans in my burrito seemed undercooked. The burrito altogether was kinda cold. The workers didn't have a great grasp on the English language which made ordering difficult.
