Highly recommend the carnitas tacos and the pozole. I've had them both a bunch of times and they are consistently good. Not a huge fan of the sauces they provide. Burrito Express/Charro (Bear): My Say, My Way... 11-17-18 2:30PM Parking was easy, strip mall, plenty of places to park. This was a relatively small place, maybe 10 tables or so. I came in after lunchtime, the place had take out going non stop, and had some customers at tables as well. I had a good feeling as soon as I stepped in. Service was excellent, my server was polite , and accommodating. My order came out faster than I had expected. I don't think they serve alcohol here. I could be wrong, but I didn't see that option. I ordered a coke bottle. It was cold and refreshing. Chips & Salsa!!!! Chips... crispy, fried light, lightly salted, solid chip. Salsa... Red:pureed pretty hard, soupy consistency, great mix of flavor with a nice mild spicy kick to it. Creamy orange: thicker consistency, quite spicy actually perhaps some habaneros in there. Had me sweating, watery eyes, and sneezing a bit Green: chunky, tasted some cilantro and avocado in there. Not as spicy as the orange, but still some kick to it. I ordered flautas: 4 chicken flautas served with guacamole, pico de gallo, and sour cream. Chicken was a little on the dry side when you just ate the flauta alone. When accompanied by the pico and sour cream, everything married together in perfect harmony. Crispy, but not fried too hard. You could actually eat the entire tortilla. The pico had some surprise chopped jalapenos in it. I added some of the green salsa for even more kick. I ordered tacos Mexicanos $2 each. I chose carnitas, pastor, and longaniza y cabeza. Carnitas...perfect balance of crispy and tender. Amazing tacos!!! They were small, but loaded with meat. The tortillas were fresh and crispy as well. Pastor...seasoned flawlessly. Great pastor taco, one of the best around. Lonaniza y cabeza...great taste, a bit greasy, but solid. Pretty much the same a a chorizo taco. Tasted a hint of cinnamon in there, which I'm never about. I'd say middle of the road. I ordered some take out as well... Sopes...I chose pastor as my meat. Even when I warmed it up later in the evening it was delicious. Just what I expect when I get a Mexican pizza. Tamales...The chicken were on point, moist, and not dry at all. I used the green salsa to dip them in. The jalapeno cheese were by far my favorite. First impressions are last impressions so in the case of the taste of my meal I had here, it was delicious. The store is tucked inside a small shopping centre on the very end so it would be very easy to miss. I'm familiar with the area but never been or noticed here. Worth the find. Wanted authentic Mexican food and received nothing short of just that. For starters for my first time I tried the empanadas which come with 3, rice, and side salad. Empanadas were golden, crispy and real warm. Tender juicy pieces of chicken inside. Only thing I would change or add is some more seasoning. It's still delicious either way. I've been coming to this place for years, but this Keto life has kept me away. Tonight, though, I'm tired, cold and Keto'd out. This little corner place in Bear has better, authentic, Mexican food than most big cities I've been too. Service is prompt and polite. The food is fresh and hot. The restaurant is cozy, and clean. Since I was cheating, I went for broke. Started with the Chorizo Queso. The meat was spicy and cooked just right. I should've stopped there but decided to have the beef chimichangas for my main course. The tortilla shells were fried nice and crisp, and the seasoned steak inside was juicy and tender. I ordered the nachos. First off they were pretty expensive. $16 and the takeout box was light in weight. I opened the box and there's cheese sauce on it. I'm not a big fan of cheese sauce. More non-Mexicans need to know about this place! From the lack of reviews on Yelp, I guess not many. Hope that will change. This place is a classic dingy hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and by the name of the place, you'd think it's crappy Mexican takeout place with taco bell quality food but it's quite the opposite! Burrito has got to be the most authentic Mexican food you can get in Delaware. I've been to the Mexican restaurant in the new castle farmer's market but this place is a step above. I've been here three times with my Mexican food loving friend and every other patron in the restaurant were Mexican. Personally I'm not the biggest Mexican fan and I would never crave Mexican on any particular day, but even I would go here voluntarily to grab a meal if I'm ever in the area. You can get anything from shrimp cocktail to giant burritos to enchiladas to grilled pork with cactus! Most dishes come with a side of lettuce and tomatoes, guacamole, your choice of green or red salsa (I think the red salsa here is spicier), flavored rice, and bean puree. If you don't know what to get, simply look at the photos they have on the menu or those posted up by the cash register. The plate of food you get will look EXACTLY like what you see in the photos...EXACTLY. This really impresses me I've never ordered food at other restaurants and have them look exactly like the photos! For drinks, they have Jarritos sodas, Mexican Coca colas, and other sodas in glass bottles. They also have horchata and mango nectar available in plastic tubs. Flan is available for dessert although I've always been too full to get to dessert. No liquor is sold here as this is not that kind of restaurant. The prices used to be better, $8 for a giant burrito with sides. They've increased the price now by a dollar but they are still reasonably cheaper than other main stream Mexican restaurants like La Tonalteca. I would still go there for some legit delicious Mexican food over La Tonalteca any day. read more

Chimichanga platter (2 small ones) Empanadas platter (3 chicken ones) Side of beans Beef taco salad 1 Jarrito drink 1 mango juice Order of guac Free chips and salsa 1 churro This would be enough for 4 people so we had some leftovers. Was in Delaware last weekend for a soccer tournament and had some time on our hands, looked up restaurants around the area of the Kirkwood soccer fields and this came up. After reading a few of the other reviews we decided to check out. We liked it so much that we ate there 3 times in one weekend, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food was prepared just right with all fresh ingredients. Staff was super friendly all three times we ate there. Highly recommend the express Burrito, however huevos rancheros and sopes were all delicious - hard to say what our favorite dish was. Dishes very authentic, not like your typical mexican food that you would get at one of those chain restaurants. Can't wait until the next time we have to go up to Delaware for a game - this is now a destination for us when we are near Kirkwood or even traveling through. Look for the sign for the beauty shop - peluqueria. The lady who I talked to had prepared number 34 - which is some fancy burrito. When I pointed to what I wanted on the menu she was about to toss the 34 - but I decided to try it - and it was pretty damn good. So I went with it. It tasted like something I ate in Mexico. Simply put: this place serves great and authentic Mexican food. I visited Burrito Express after reading a few reviews on Yelp in search for a great burrito near Newark, DE and this place was great. The restaurant is tiny (8 or less small tables - not equipped for groups) but is great for take-out. I ordered two take-out burritos, one chicken burrito for myself and a beef burrito for my boyfriend. The chicken burrito was great! They are stuffed the same size as Chipotle stuffs theirs and slightly cheaper too ($5.50 each). I walked in to place the order and it was complete in less than 10 minutes. I will say this place is VERY VERY difficult to find ... Instead of looking for Burrito Express, look for the Express Mart on Pulaski Hwy. It is located across the highway from Honda Powersports and the Express Mart is in an old Wawa building. The Burrito Express is located in a green building to the left of the Express Mart. As I was leaving, the restaurant owner thanked me for placing and order, explaining that all of their food is 100% homemade and recommended the chimichanga (which I will definitely try next time!) I did give this review only 4 stars instead of 5 because the beef burrito my boyfriend ordered had several fatty pieces inside. He would have been happier with the chicken. read more

Fast and family friendly, the food was simple, tasty, relatively inexpensive, and served with a smile. Decor is takeout style with a few tables. I had horchata to drink, always a favorite, enjoyed the free chips and three salsas, had shrimp cocktail (always better Mexican style than boring American style, although they skimped on the avocado and I had to request extra). I also had the pozole, a hominy and pork soup that is a a personal favorite, although here it was underwhelming, too thin in flavor and the ingredients didn't come together like I expect for a good pozole.
