This is my go to Mexican spot in the city. Their burritos are awesome, but I honestly gravitate towards their tacos and tortas. I don't know why. I have been stopping in to Burrito House for the past 6 months with regular frequency. It's exactly what it should be. Whether it's for a quick lunch or a late night bite, Burrito House met all of my requirements. It's generally quick (but does get busy around lunch time). It's tasty (I usually go for the burritos or tacos of any flavor). It's reasonably priced (5-6 bucks for a beastly burrito). Temper your expectations and enjoy a decent Mexican meal. read more

This is a standard Chicago burrito/taco place. I have been here after bars and on a hungover morning. Both were pretty good. The prices are pretty good and food is made pretty quickly. Although I once had to wait a long time at night to order. I have had quesadillas and a burrito--both were pretty decent. My biggest complaint is that their salsa served with chips is TERRIBLE! I cannot believe that they served it to me. Gross. Pay the extra few bucks and spring for some guacamole with your chips. read more

Not the best burrito stand I've been to, but certainly not awful. There are no frills here, but the place doesn't need any. It's cheap, quick Mexican food. If you like spicy, try the red sauce. I'm not sure what it is, but it's hot and it's pretty good. If you prefer tangy, go with the green sauce. Also a mystery, also good. Or you can just get creative and dump generous amounts of both sauces onto your taco or burrito. The chicken is good sans sauce though - it's already pretty well spiced. read more

Heeeeeya Burrito House! Have you met Allende on Lincoln? They have the fastest service EVER after the bars close. It's impressive actually...you could learn a thing or two from them! Oy! In their defense, though, the people in here last night seemed a little more obnoxious than usual. Then again....I was sober, so drunk people just seem all types of insane then. We waited a LONG time to place our order and for our food. Like, probably 30 minutes total. (At 4am, this seems like an eternity!). This is a great after-bar place to eat. The food is your traditional late-night drunk food. But it tastes fairly authentic, as opposed to just soakes in grease and over-processed meats. My favorite is the tacos cuz they're cheap ($1.75) and filled with so much stuff you can fold the soft taco around it. The food is very filling and cheap. They have the BEST chicken nachos, and the greasiest, most delicious chorizo quesadillas (and chorizo-everything, I'm sure). Like, grease to the outside of the carrying bag. This Burrito House is in my 'hood (!), so this is a go-to spot for that late night munchie. It's just a street away from the Addison Brown line stop, so it's really convenient if you are traveling over on the el. To be specific, it's adjacent to Dunkin Donuts on Lincoln Ave. The burritos come in two sizes: king or junior. I normally get a king size chorizo burrito for $5.20 (minus tax). I believe the junior is $3.65 - depending on what type of meat or if you are ordering a vegetarian option. It's pretty cheap for the size you get. I feel like I gain 3 lbs after one king size burrito! When you order on the phone, make sure you order from the right location. There is a Burrito House further west on Addison. This confusion happened to my boyfriend before and he had to go out of his way to THAT Burrito House instead. read more

Its open late, so stars right there. I didn't see this famous bathroom art, unless the other reviewers werre referring to the door handle in the restroom, which was indeed ornate. But the restroom was clean, which I've been taught is a good indicator of restaurant cleanliness. Friendly staff. It's not McDonald's fast, but I thought it was fast enough. They have lots of options on the menu, both types of food and fillings. They have junior burritos, which is perfect for a small meal, and you're not stuck with a messy leftover half of a burrito manage, so that's excellent. The California burrito was what I'm used to, with rice, beans, steak and onions. Most of the other burritos didn't include rice or beans. The tortillas were grilled and nice and crispy on the outside. There's a nice big seating space, and it's a comfortable late-night beacon on Lincoln. read more

I came here stone cold sober two or three times before I found out that customers in my mental state accounted for no more than 3-4% of Burrito House's total revenues. This is a late night Mexican joint. When you roll in here after a night out, it has all the atmosphere of a titless strip club. There is a huge, mostly male crowd of inebriates who've forgotten what they've ordered. They're yelling at the guys behind the counter, who in turn are forgetting/overcooking/mixing up other orders. It's a vicious cycle. The food isn't anything special, maybe a notch above Taco Bell. There aren't many late night options in this neighborhood, though, so BH continues to thrive. read more

None of the people that work here know English, so having passing knowledge of Spanish (or having a friend that does) helps. On my most recent visit, I needed something a. cheesy, b. fried, c. with refried beans, d. ASAP. The good old Burrito House came through for me big time. To satisfy all of my food cravings, I went with the chicken chimichanga dinner - a good size chimi with a lot of cheese inside it, salad garnish with guac, beans and rice. For a quick in-and-out type of place, this was pretty good! I devoured about half of it, and saved the rest for later. This place does a lot of to-go orders, but there's a decent / large seating area in the back. (I live close enough to this place, but I had to have the food *immediately*, so we ate there.) On a previous visit, I tried the chicken burrito with a saucy / shredded chicken mix, and also enjoyed that. I shall return, Burrito House. read more

There are a lot of Mexican restaurants that are open late in the Chicagoland area but this stands as one of my favorites. Normally, you find yourself in these places late night but this is one that is good during the day as well. There are two items on this menu that most people won't order but I highly recommend; the chile relleno and lengua taco. The chile relleno is a poblano pepper stuffed with cheese and then breaded and deep fried. The chile relleno at Burrito House is unique because it is topped with sauce. If you are adventurous, try to the lengua tacos. If you don't recognize the name, it's cow tongue. I have had this several times at other places but Burrito House has the best lengua. It's tender and has really good flavor similar to slow roasted pork. Burrito House does more than satisfy late night cravings. Next time, ask for Samuel and say what's up. read more

I bring my out of town friends here for late night eats after boozing all night. The guys behind the counter are always really friendly, even when you're a complete disaster. The food is pretty standard for a late night, post-bar burrito joint. I usually go with the Jr. chicken burrito or the cheese quesadilla- and you should note that you get 2 quesadillas when you order plain cheese but only get one when you order it with meat. The rice and beans that they serve on the side of dishes are not so good, so I usually stay away from the meal options. I love their horchata, but no free refills. Boo. read more

We came here Halloween night around midnight and it was extremely busy. This could be one of two things. This is good Mexican restaurant or this is the only place offering food for drunk people at this hour. I lived in Humboldt Park for about a year and a half and lived with a roommate who loved Mexican food fourth meal. I do not. Call me lame or whatever else you want. I prefer pizza or a burger and fries as my intoxicated choice of food. I've been to Los Comales and Arturo's and my roommate finds these places to be of high quality. I don't know if it's the tortas lenguas or what but the food never quite hits the spot. Even though I don't enjoy the food I can appreciate it for what it is. Anyway on to my review for Burrito House. I got the chicken burrito and it tasted like every other chicken burrito that I have had at any other authentic Mexican restaurant in the city. Wow. You know a late night Mexican place is good when you get there after last call, stay until closing, and there's a line the entire time. The food itself wasn't exactly haute couture cuisine, but when you're drunk, it's 4 am, and you want a fajita burrito for 3 dollars, you can't go wrong with the burrito house. The nachos as well were almost too much food; I'm fairly certain we couldn't finish them all. Surprisingly though, we ran out of chips long before we ran out of toppings, which is the sign of some truly glorious nachos. And they even take cards, unlike most 4 am post-bar eateries, so you can save up the remnants of your cash for the cab ride home. My only complaint is that their "spicy" really wasn't, but I've come to terms with getting two out of spicy, cheap, and tasty pretty much anywhere this far north. It's still arguably the best post-barfood in the area. read more

Went here after late night drinking and got the following. 1 steak taco - pretty big and def. tasty 2 steak tostadas - my hubby was impressed that they made the tostadas curl at the sides, so nothing falls out! He usually curses under his breath as the meat, lettuce and tomatoes fall out - but he was so happy everything stayed intact Side of rice and beans - SOOOO incredibly good. We doused everything with the green sauce and used a 1/4 of the bottle. Five Stars for a Burrito House?! YES... when you go in there stone sober and still love it?! It means it's a great place! I usually go for the Jr. Veggie Burrito plate (they even put extra avocado in for me) and my BF goes for the hamburger & cheese fries... and we're both always happy. On another note, they remember their regulars. :) Some new guys started heckling me and one of my roomies - and the guys from behind the counter yelled at them to hush it! I staggered into this place one night, and ordered a burrito. It was good, the service was quick and friendly. And, I'll have to go back when I remember more. On the plus side, it was the only place open at that hour, which is another plus. So, if you're near the Addison Brown line stop, and get a craving for some good quick food, try it out. This is the perfect late night rendezvous... my girlfriend hates when I go here, but she always enjoys the food. Be prepared for a shit show of drunks and a 10-15 minute wait if you arrive between 1:45am and 3am. They are open til 4 (5 on Saturdays). I've been going to this place for years - I enjoy the banter with the boys behind the counter. Last year for Christmas - they gave me a Late Night at the Burrito House Tshirt ala Dave Letterman. I must be a preferred customer. I'm picky about my burritos - I like it gringo style and they never screw it up. Super King' Steak Burrito is the way to go slathered in the red hot sauce...mmmmmmm Also, the beef nachos can feed 3 people. First time here. Came about 3:45am on a Saturday. Has the Chicken Taco Special (3 tacos for $5.95 plus tax). These guys only speak Espanol...which is Great! But they understand English! I love this place! I walk over for lunch near my office a couple times a month. The tacos are so full of great stuff that I have to eat some of the filling with a fork before I can fold it and pick it up to eat! Such flavors! YUM! I had a small chicken burrito in the place a few weeks back and it was delicious. Tonight my wife and i called in take-out and ordered a small Chorizo burrito dinner and a small chicken burrito dinner. The guy hung up before we could give our name, oh but not before he said 10 minutes.. We knew that was a bad sign. We drove over together and she went in to retrieve the order. First, there is no separate line to pay for customers that called in for take-out. She had to wait about 10 minutes in the line. Second, we arrived home and the burritos had zero lettuce, zero tomatoes, zero hot sauce and very little meat. Both burritos were basically sour cream with a small amount of refried beans and an occasional tiny bite of meat. They were a ball of slop that we were unable to hold together. I would not recommend this place for take out and for any type of customer service. Although the person that rings the register is nice enough, clearly he and the people that prep the food do not have an eye for detail. For the 2 meals we paid $21.00 and we ended up dumping most of the food. I would not recommend this place and we will definitely go to our favorite Mexican Joint in our hood for the delicious Mexican food, great service and awesome margaritas. No more corner cutting for our family when we need our Mexican Food Fix! read more

Loved it! Great chips, guacamole, salsa, and tacos. I'm assuming everything else is great too - this just all I've had. :) If you like pastor tacos and are used to them with only cilantro and onion, make sure to ask for it that way. I was a little bummed to see so much sour cream, cheese, lettuce, and salsa on it... just not what I was thinking of but very good. The guys working there were friendly and the price was right!
