I had delivery via DoorDash from here and it was decent. I ordered the carne asada fries from here and they were okay. I could tell the steak wasn't the greatest quality, but tasted fine. I was surprised that some of the fries remained crispy in that box. I wish they have more guac and used thicker sour cream since it seemed watered down. I always thought the food here was great, until yesterday... I ordered nachos and first thing noticed everything was cold, like it had been refrigerated after being made. I've given this location 3 chances and it has failed me twice. First chance: I ordered the California Burrito and it was the best tasting burrito I've had in awhile. Maybe because I was hungry or maybe it was the combination of carne asada, sour cream and fries wrapped in a tortilla. Whatever it was it was delicious the first time I had it. Pair it with a Jarrito Tamarindo and your cravings will be satisfied. Second chance: ordered the California Burrito again after a Dodger game one evening and it was the worst decision I could've done. It resulted in food poisoning. I really don't know how these folks stay in business selling a simple, average size Breakfast burrito & simple basic coffee for $13.40. Particularly with such unfriendly & unpleasant attitude from the Order taker/cashier. The last straw was her balancing act from the kitchen, bringing me milk for the coffee in one of those little plastic containers that burger stands use for catchup or sauce. Well, after the fact, I thought the experience kind of goes hand and hand with the looks of the place, but "Come on, give me a break". I ordered the Carne Asade plate which came with Asada meat, rice and beans with cheese and every bite made me feel almost instantaneously repulsed. The meat was incredibly soft, wet, rough, under seasoned and tasted like it was boiled. The rice was also undercooked, with hard grains, and the beans tasted like they came out of a can! I can imagine the only way this place is still in business is because of the older Hispanics in the area who have a pallet for bland undercooked food and maybe don't have the heart to complain about it. We would walk up Sunset from our inexpensive right-of-way house in Silver Lake to go to the 49 cent movies nearby. There were burrito stands on three corners of the Sunset & Alvarado crossing but Burrito King was the closest to the theater. Not knowing what to get from all the options the stand presented, I selected the Machaca burrito and, well, it destroyed any chance that I would ever find better burritos anywhere else in the following half-century. I was recently in a nostalgic mood and while looking at a Google map, I was really surprised to discover that Burrito King was still there, and apparently still doing well.
