This was my second time here but it may be my last. The food was good and the staff was pleasant and the place was clean and nicely appointed, so why only 3 stars? Well, it was a Sunday brunch, but shouldn't a Sunday brunch come with a drink and coffee at the end? Everything was à la cart. A classic margarita was $15 and he wanted to know if I wanted another!! Not for $30 for 2 drinks! Also, I got potatoes instead of fries with my steak ($24) but I didn't bother to tell them, not a big deal, it was good. No customers were there when I first sat down but 2 other people came in after me. Lots and lots of empty tables. I just feel a brunch menu should make you feel like you are getting a special value. It didn't even have coffee with it. I'm not one to stiff anyone on the gratuities so I gave a 20% tip. The pricing was just too much for what you get, so, adios for me. read more

I bought a Ranchero Burrito with chicken and the usual beans, rice, etc. as ingredients. On the side were generous dollops of sour cream and guacamole. I bought it to go - $24 plus a 20% tip. The two servers were both chill. The burrito? In my life, I have had more than a thousand burritos. This one was so bad, I could only force myself through 25% of it. I can't point to the ingredients as at fault though the chicken clucked a bit - maybe a bit too left over. It was the Ranchero sauce which they dipped the entirety of the burrito into. I often will cut a burrito in half, then pick up each half to eat. This burrito was too slippery and the sauce tasted out of a can. Yuck. read more

The atmosphere was nice, definitely lively however definitely surprised by the portions. Granted nachos are an appetizer, but $16 for 6 nacho chips is pretty insane. I bust out in laughter when I received them. The drinks are good in taste but not very strong. The staff is friendly. read more

First time in the "vil" in soo long today! A friend and I came here for something else but just had to grab some food and drinks for old times sake! We were in the mood for tacos and margaritas so this was it! We arrived shortly after 8pm and they were pretty busy. They are def following covid-19 protocols. They take your temperature, tables are socially distanced, and staff wears mask. Service was great! From the moment we walked up and was greeted, everyone was welcoming and friendly. There were no outside seating available (bummer) and they have an ample amount, so we had to settle for indoors. We were seated immediately. As soon as we were seated, someone came over to let us know that our waiter will be with us shortly. Whenever our waiter wasn't around, there was always someone checking to make sure our experience was going well. We had the chips and salsa ($5) (not pictured), a variety of tacos (see photos, and a pitcher of passion fruit margaritas. The salsa was AMAZING (so amazing we ate it and forgot to take a pic)! It had a nice little kick of spice to it and the chips were fresh and warm. The tacos were nice and flavorful but they were soo small; after 3 I still wanted more. But besides the size of the tacos everything was amazing! I will definitely be back again soon! I haven't been here in years and 1 of the gentlemen said they just reopened this week after being closed the last 2 months so I guess perfect timing for me. read more

Met my brother from out of town last night. Both of us were starving and thirsty. We heard Burrito Loco "Was Back". So we stopped in for dinner and a drink. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The restaurant never looked so good. The shrimp app was delicious and the guacamole was made fresh. Creamy and flavorful I got the chicken fajitas which was a large portion and really flavorful and fresh with rice and beans My brothers chicken dish was equally satisfying. We shared a very large pitcher of Red Sangria which was spot on. We were way too full for dessert. After dinner we were greeted by the owner "Jimmy" who spent a few moments at our table just thanking us and talking. My review is solely based on the food, the service was fine. My friend and I both got the same order, a margarita ($16) and the steak enchiladas ($22) and this might be the worst Mexican food I've had in a while. The rice was undercooked/hard and portion size is laughable. While I get nyc can be pricy at times, $22 for the enchiladas we received was quite disappointing. read more

Would not recommend this place. To say they rushed us would be a gross understatement. Every few minutes they were trying to take our plates and shoved the bill in our face as soon as we had our last bite. So we were all a little loco coming here after Pride and feeling hella good. They were great tho and accommodated our big party though we split into two tables of four which worked just fine. Bathrooms are only 2 single rooms which was a bit of a pain and its right next to the kitchen door so yeah.. lots of traffic. We were so happy to know that Burrito Loco reopened recently and my friends and I went to celebrate my birthday. Wow! We were so impressed with the good good, service and ambiance. Those Skinny Margaritas pitchers are perfect, not too sweet but there's a perfect balance in all the ingredients. We had a tasty guacamole and then shared many antojitos. One of my favorite dishes is the Caldo Tlalpeno, a chicken soup so tasty, it reminded me of my mom's cooking, only real Mexican style. At the end of our meal, the waitstaff in unison sang Happy Birthday and gave me a treat with many customers singing too. I was so happy! We came here Friday night without a reservation, so I was worried there would be a long wait. However they were able to seat us right away. We each ordered a different margarita: mango, strawberry and regular. However, I asked to have mine with agave rather than the margarita mix. They told me they would charge depending on the tequila I wanted, and I said I was fine with the same type as was in the normal margaritas my friends were drinking. They said they could only do top shelf for the agave ones, which I thought was strange, but not that big of a deal. We shared chips and guacamole to start. The guacamole was good but lacked salt and the tomatoes seemed kind of hard. The chips were fresh and they brought more when we finished the first basket. We had a chicken mole, which comes with plantains, beans, rice, and corn tortillas. We all agreed the mole was really good, but on the sweet side. I thought it was a good mix of sweet and savory, but with the plantains, was a bit overwhelmingly sweet. I liked that they gave four tortillas, which was plenty. My friend got the mushroom empanadas. They seemed small but she liked them. We also ordered sangria which was good but kind of weak. read more

y parents and i were visiting greenwich and we stopped into burrito loco. this is a special spot for my parents, they used to eat here all the time were they were in their twenties, so we had to come by for lunch. personally, i'm not a big on mexican food. usually, i always like it, but im never craving it. THAT BEING SAID, i will definitely be craving this place in the future. we got the fresh, homemade guacamole, beef quesadillas, carne tampiqueña, and the burrito jarocho. the guacamole was so lit, so fresh and the chips were so warm. i will ALWAYS appreciate warm tortilla chips. now i wasn't too hungry so i only got the quesadillas which is playing it very safe for a mexican restaurant. but these were the best quesadillas i think i've ever had. the beef was so tender and flavorful. the sour cream, dear lord, i've never wanted to bathe in something more. it was just so much better than store bought sour cream. juicy, cheesy, creamy, crunchy; it had it all! i'm obsessed. NEXT, the burrito. i didn't have a taste, but my mom rated it a 7/10. she said the tortilla was really good and the sauce on top was refreshing, she just wished there was more going on inside the burrito. it was rice and shrimp (the shrimp was perfectly cooked she claims) but she wanted a little more diversity of ingredients. and finally, the carne. my dad said it was pretty good, had a yummy sauce and was cooked very well. again, i didn't have a bite of the steak but i tried the enchilada, and unfortunately it wasn't for me. it was served cold with a mole sauce, and i know i dont like mole so me not liking it probably has nothing to do with it being bad, just my palette. overall, great service, super nice ambience (they have this lovely skylight) i can just imagine how lively this place is at night. lowkey see myself coming here the next time im in the area just to get those god sent quesadillas read more

Centrally located Mexican place, steps from the West 4th stop. All in all - decent Mexican food w/a great happy hour special ($5 drinks until 8pm). The place is sort of average - ambiance, decor, decent service, random mix of music - but does have a wide variety of dishes. I got the veggie fajitas ($16) which came w/a healthy helping of veggies, side of beans and rice, both sour cream and guac, and 4 tortillas. While they gave all of a spoonful of guac - I thought my veggies were well cooked and had cheese melted on top (vs. a side) which I wasn't a huge fan of. It was a quite large portion and I was stuffed w/o finishing it all. My friend got the tacos which were a healthy portion as well. The Quick: Fantastic Mexican food was delicious unlimited homemade chips and salsa that never disappoints. Also a cute venue. The Details: It's no secret that I'm a fan of Mexican food... what's not to like? I will say the number one thing that sets a Mexican restaurant apart from another is if they have unlimited chips and if they are homemade or not. Unlimited chips with homemade salsa will always keep me coming back for more. That being said, the guacamole is fantastic. The tacos are incredible and the big portions come with a side of rice and beans as well. The margaritas are very strong but a little pricey at $11. The atmosphere is fun the venue is attractive and the waitstaff is very nice. It's a great place to go with friends for a drunken night out. Sidenote it's also one of my parents favorite place to go. The Damage: The entrees are around $13, which at first I thought was pricey for Mexican. But then I thought about how chipotle usually costs $10 and all I get is one burrito. At burrito loco you get your entrée with the sides (beans, rice, Guac, etc) and unlimited chips for a little more. One of my favorite spots, you'll see me there soon. read more

I spent 8 hours at my church nearby today. After that I wanted to.unwind but I didn't want to walk too far due to the heat. I stepped in here and sat at the bar. I was given a drinks menu and then a food menu. I looked at the drinks menu and saw they had a variety of margaritas. I kept with tradition and ordered a lime margarita. I was asked if I wanted it frozen. Sure. I was also given a food menu but I returned it as I was full . For happy hour it came up to about $7.50 but it was a nice big glass with a good amount of tequila (I like that). When I was ready for another there was a different bartender behind the bar. I told him what I wanted. Same good service and quality of beverage. To get to the restrooms you have to go downstairs. It is a winding staircase like you see in some old apartment buildings in the East Village. Good luck going down that staircase if you had too many. read more
