Flavorless shrimp tacos with 3 tiny shrimp.
    Robyn H.

I was a regular customer when the restaurant was called Franco's. I have to agree with the Yelper that stated it was better when it was Franco's. They no longer have fish tacos or salmon (bummer!). Those were my favorite items on the menu. So... I ordered some shrimp tacos today, in hopes that their food was as good as I remembered. Well... when I got home, I saw there was no salsa with my shrimp tacos. Every Mexican restaurant I've ever gone to in my LIFE serves a salsa verde and a diablo salsa with their tacos, INCLUDING the old FRANCO'S. I called the restaurant to tell them they forgot the salsa and that I would be returning to get it and was told the tacos don't come with salsa. I was told because I ordered "Choice 1," (cilantro, lime and onions), the tacos didn't come with salsa. At the Old Franco's, all the tacos came with three sauces, even Choice 1 tacos. Rather than drive all the way back to the restaurant to get salsa, we decided just to eat them the way they were. So... we tried to eat the tacos without the sauces and to our dismay, the shrimp tacos were dry and flavorless. My fiance' ended up having to MAKE us some salsa just to make them taste like something. The plantains were also dry. Just TERRIBLE. As much as we loved the OLD Franco's in Cinnaminson... it's gone, and Burrito Mix (in my opinion), just isn't as good. There is NO WAY this is the same family that owned Franco's in Cinnaminson. Thank GOD there is still a Franci's in Riverside.

A la Campechana Quesadilla, Chimichanga, and Pico de Gallo

I've been here before when the name of the restaurant was Franco's. I'm going to be honest, it lost a good amount of the authentic feel when it re-branded (same owner). I can understand, though. It seems like they adapted to better fit the area. The inside is very small, so I'd make sure to call ahead to see if they have tables open if you plan on eating inside. The service was great, and the person they have serving does both the register for to-go and gives the dine-in customers their food, so they tend to get a little busy. The server opened doors for older customers, spoke very politely, and was friendly. As far as the food goes, I'm still disappointed that you have to pay for chips and salsa ($5) separately. The chips are standard quality tortilla chips, but the salsa is way too sweet for my tastes. I ordered the "a la campechana" quesadilla ($16) with steak and chorizo. The meat was good, but a little too oily for my liking. This is standard for chorizo; I usually get chicken, but wanted to try something new. It paired perfectly with the pico de Gallo, and wasn't too filling. I also got to try my mother's chimichanga w/ shredded chicken (~$14), and it was very good. The dish comes with rice and beans, and the chimichanga is covered in salsa roja, salsa verde, and sour cream (we got it without). The shredded chicken isn't too dry, but again the salsa roja is too sweet for my tastes. For dessert we got a tres leches to-go. I liked it a lot when they were Franco's, and I still love it now. They served it with some strawberry drizzle and extra whip cream. It was delicious! I can't wait to try the chocoflan next time I go. To summarize: Service 10/10 Chips and salsa 6.5/10 A la campechana quesadilla 7.5/10 Chimichanga 8.5/10 Tres Leches 9/10 (could use a little more crema)

Good! The burritos and tacos are very good. There's nothing particularly special, but solid food and great prices. The service is good too!

I was lucky enough to attend an Elite event including RTF beforehand- so I wasn't signing up for this with a completely blind eye. What's nice about RTF being able to have this event is that it might be more accessible to people in the area because it's a one time deal. The meal kit delivery service maybe could be a one time deal too, but I am not sure. I also learned that RTF shines on its own with the meal delivery kit service because they serve fresh food. Purple Carrot, Thistle, and Sakara Life are all frozen (or placed in a refrigerated package) even though accessible nationally. RTF can only deliver in the Philadelphia area and pickup would have to be done in a limited time frame of around ~11-1 on-site on a Monday if not opting for delivery service. Before the meal started, chef Josh introduced his event team. He expressed some personal stories that went into the dishes such as how he created a classier version of hummus on his own from his learnings and desire for hummus. Then something about his mother making the latke. So, he "had to" have a dish based on this and his mother was present at the event. His version of a chef based hummus was creamy with fresh vegetable accessories and it definitely made me like hummus a lot more than your typical grocery store. Third came the risotto dish- my dish was a bit too oily, but fine otherwise. Then, the King Trumpet mushroom platter which replicated a "steak" with the mushroom just being slightly perfectly burnt. At least one of my friends did not like the King Mushroom- they may not be used to pricier things that are a bit different than what they are used to. The cauliflower puree added was essential to make this dish stand out. Lastly, dessert was a lemon black sesame cake with coconut cream and peaches. This was an Internet recipe as Josh is not as big on bakery (if I remember correctly), but the interpretation came out fabulous anyway! It's hard to choose one "best" item as it was a tie between the hummus, King Mushroom dish, and the dessert cake for me. The day ended with optional coffee w brown sugar and a choice of soy milk or oat Milk and a surprise chocolate chip cookies mini gift bag. (All unpictured) When I wanted to speak to Josh as he was in the back area cleaning up, his mother half-jokingly told me that he probably didn't want to hear from her. It looked like his mother pulled him out from whatever he was doing, but he was nice to spend some time with me and hopefully got some good ideas he can implement. We talked about how he had extra ingredients he would not want to waste and I mentioned TooGoodToGo. So, if you see an RTF TooGoodToGo, you heard it here first! Nothing But Love Soulfood Catering uses TooGoodToGo at the Culinary Collective. I learned that there was significant cost to rent the dining area even though rent is already paid to use the kitchen setup of the Culinary Collective. There was cost for the staff and the food is fresh. Many of the ingredients chosen are a higher quality and standard, and people don't always realize this. The availability of various items may not have been known except within a limited time frame.

The ambiance is a huge part of what makes Nellie Bly's, Nellie Bly's! The establishment is fueled by Bassetts Ice Cream, aka some of the best. Cookie Monster and Guatemalan Ripple are my two favorite flavors. J typically opts for a milkshake of sorts, which never disappoint...and so many other yummy options. While I've never tried the waffle sundae, it looks INSANE! If you dine in, your order is served in the sweetest little dishes and the overall vibe is just immaculate! The only downside: the establishment abides by seasonal hours, so unless it's the summer, you're likely not popping in for a little night cap unless it's the weekend.

Between the music and the staff I felt very welcome. I'll start with my appreciation for the gentleman behind the counter who graciously and patiently answered all my questions ..... like what is a Mallorca (sweet fluffy bread that reminded me of a sticky bun and a danish put together), a Quesito, (flaky, golden puff pastry filled with sweetened cream cheese and usually glazed on the outside) and Pastelillos de Guayaba (made from guava, flaky, fruity and sweet with powdered sugar). It was neat to learn about some Puerto Rican sweets I was unfamiliar with. I was given a Dulce de Leche donut warmed up (as a reward I suppose), for my interest in the baked goods. That donut lasted a couple of seconds as it melted in my mouth. I grabbed a Mallorca with guava to go and a ready made sampler with 25 pieces of half mini Pastelillos de Guayaba and Questios for $30. The guys at work enjoyed them very much. The Quesitos were my favorite, the combo of the pastry flavor with the sweet cream cheese was delicious. Their breakfast offerings come on their fresh baked bread. I had a sausage, egg and cheese with hot sauce. It was around $10 and a skip lunch sized portion. I would repeat. Check out the menu I posted for more of their offerings. Everything in their cases looked good: cookies, donuts, cake pops, cake slices, tarts, turnovers etc. They also have an area called Toasty's Cafe with juices (mango, pineapple, passion fruit), coffee, over a half dozen different teas, etc. I'll definitely be returning to try more items and a Cubano sandwich on that fresh bread is calling me for a lunch visit. I really appreciate people who wake up early and have the drive to be patient and caring to their customers. I'm not sure of the name of the gentleman who helped me, but thanks for the education and great recommendations! Thanks guys and see you soon!
