I LOVE this place. Seriously I could eat it everyday. We used to order the burritos and though they were pretty good but after trying it as a bowl instead I'm in love. The meat whatever you choose is delicious, lots of fresh ingredients to choose from, and the salsa are so yummy. My friend got the tacos recently and said they were great! I heard really great things about this place and after I got my food I was not as impressed as all the hype it was made out to be.

Who manages this place? I asked to speak to a manager and it was like the girl couldn't figure out who her boss was or like she was scared to go get them, I wanted to speak about a previous experience and when they finally went to the back and got a man to come out I'll be damned if he wasn't the one I wanted to speak about the upmost disrespect I had gotten days before. Just pure attitude written all over his glum face. But I ended up shrugging it off & acted like it was nothing Bc I wasn't going to complain to the person im "complaining about" but when he was in manager mode from making my food the way he talked was so different he had such a sweet soft pleasant voice but just with a constant mean look that I was confused. Just looks like a bunch of young kids including managers putting one big messy show on. read more

One of our favorite places in town! It's easy, fast and casual. Order at the counter and depending on what you order, get take it to your table or have it delivered to your table if it's something that needs to cook. Think Panera or Moe's. Flavors are fresh and fun. All of the protein choices I've tried are excellent. I like the fish and the pork best. Pro tip: if you're going to order anything with fish, if anyone else in your group wants fish as well, order them at the same time so they can cook together, otherwise the second person might have to wait for the first persons fish to be done frying. Yes, they cook every fish order fresh. Quesadillas also take a bit of time, so if you're in a hurry, stick to a land based protein and tacos, burritos, or bowls. Each entree comes with a side of tortilla chips; don't for get to visit the salsa bar. Portions are large, so don't be concerned about leaving hungry. read more

Pretty good tacos & very flavorful. Corn tortillas are supposed to be hand made but didn't taste like it. Tortillas quickly fell apart. Salsas are good, ingredients are good, tacos are good - just not authentic. Doesn't compare with any good Mexican street taco. LosPotros in Kernersville should be a destination for authentic Mexican tacos. Order of 4 is $7 and off the hook good. Served with grilled onion and jalapeno on the side with a couple slices of cuke or radish as it should. read more

I visited Burrito Shak on Sunday, March 6, 2016 around 6 PM. Upon entering, I noticed Burrito Shak's set up is similar to other taco/burrito restaurant chains, however, the similarity stops there. The owner, David Longo, is the brilliant mastermind behind the restaurant. His attention to detail and ability to create recipes that are so rich in flavor are what sets this small town restaurant above others like it in the Wilmington/Hampstead area. I ordered the "TI" bowl with cod and the meal was nothing short of excellent. The cod, fried with a tempura batter, is fresh, flaky, and moist with a slight crunch. The sweet-chili slaw and the amazing made-the-same-day guacamole adds a refreshing touch. The food portions are generous, and everything was under $10. I also tried the "S-Turn" with cod burrito bowl as that seems to be the local favorite. While not as light as the TI bowl, the S-Turn has a flavor profile that is rich and creamy, thanks to the queso, and the poblano crema is very refreshing. Do not fret, the poblano mixed with the other ingredients adds the necessary heat to the meal without having to drink a glass of milk afterwards. However, my husband, wanted something spicy and ordered the "Fire Shot" bowl with steak. I should specify that the steak is ribeye, not the frozen stuff that is reheated at other chains, but real, fresh ribeye that is cooked same day. My husband assured me the meat was packed with flavor and even with all the ingredients added to his order, he still could taste the meat. The Fire Shot on its own is not that spicy, but feel free to order the made fresh every day Habanero and Serrano sauce. Some hot sauces are over powering with a vinegar base, but this sauce is delicious, with a slow burn and legitimate heat. I would recommend having a full beverage ready and chips to snack on because this sauce is not for the faint of heart. Another dish that is sure to satisfy anyone's stomach are the tacos. I ordered one of each to try and my favorite is the "Jolly Roger". This taco is a mix of the S-Turn and the TI bowl and became my favorite item on the menu. Make sure to order the tacos with the homemade corn tortilla. Seriously, how many places make their own tortillas everyday? I believe it is hard to make a dish with as many flavor profiles as Chef Longo has and still be able to taste each component on its own and yet Chef Longo has successfully accomplished this task. The result of my FIRST experience led me to visit Burrito Shak a total of 6 times in four consecutive days. read more

Love this place. First off I am a huge Qdoba junkie and this place is a nice find in an area vacant of the above mentioned spot (and obviously better than that crap at Chipotle and Moe's). Best place in Hampstead to grab a bite by far and everything is fresh. Been here 30+ times and will continue to go back. Burritos, quesadillas, tacos, bowls and potatoes are all great so I I'm not going to call out a specific item...however make sure you can handle really spicy before you take on the hottest salsa the serve. read more

Missed the mark with me. First let's talk about the food. I believe everything was fresh but nothing had any flavor or very little seasoning. Definitely lacking salt. Now let's talk customer experience. Lunch $11 = burrito, few chips and a drink.With the noise from dinning room and speakers blairing I could not hear the server. No salt, pepper, sauces, or napkins on tables. I understand having tight margins but do you really expect customers to unwrap a burrito add salt and sauce at a beverage station with other customers waiting. IMHO could easily be five stars with a few tweaks. read more
