    Mixed Grill

Does a 40min wait justify the top tier food of Bursa? Yes, so make sure to bring a ton of conversational topics to talk about or you'll be sitting on your hands for a hot minute. I arrived around 5:45PM and they had a few spots open. They have a good amount of tables, and the interior decor makes the entire spot feel elevated. I placed my order around 6PM and received my food around 6:40PM. I ordered a falafel appetizer and paired it with a Mixed Grill Kebab and a Beyti. The falafel was really crunchy and flavorful, and overall tasted freshly made. The Beyti was a more riskier dish we ordered, as we aren't as familiar with Mediterranean cuisine. It's basically the meat from the Kofte Kebab wrapped in a bread, with seasoned yogurt as dipping sauce. Since we were familiar with the Kofte taste, this dish was a good twist on the flavor and I would definitely recommend it, especially as a shareable plate! The Mixed Grill Kebeb took the show, because how can a chicken breast be so juicy? We ordered this one to taste all this establishment had to offer, and the chicken was arguably better than the lamb. The chicken breast was super juicy and flavorful, but the lamb felt a little under-seasoned and could've used a little bit more salt. Not a big fan of the gamey taste of lamb, but the lamb chop here had very little - to a point where it tasted GOOD. The seasoning they use is magical, and the hints of cumin mask the taste exceptionally well. Did I mention big portions and good service? I love how this place diverges from the small SF portions and gives you a fulfilling meal with leftovers if needed. We are so accustomed to not taking home leftovers when I remember getting leftovers everytime pre covid! Bursa is an amazing place to take the parents, the inlaws, or even visiting friends to experience one of the many pockets of SF's vibrant districts while getting yummy food without paying tech bro prices. I look forward to coming back, but wish I didn't exhaust all my conversation topics before finishing my meal.

We stopped by for dinner and since we've dined here many times over the years, there are several favs of ours. We shared the 4 pc falafel which they make so well and the red lentil soup. 2 of us ordered the rack of lamb which came with asparagus and a rice dish that had unusual flavor which I liked more than their usual white rice pilaf. The other dish was the lamb kebab. We decided to share 2 desserts - the baklava which came divided in 4 bite sized pieces. It was good but I've had better ones where it was drenched in lots of honey syrup. We got the last chocolate mousse cake which was tasty. They ran out of the creme brulee. Service was good, water glasses filled and staff always friendly.

Lovely spot to have dinner in West Portal. Cozy spot, upscale casual dining. Great wine menu - I am picky with my red wines these days and enjoyed my $11 glass of old vine Zinfandel. We loved the Combo appetizer plate which came with generous portions of 9 different items. I loved everything ! I'm an eggplant lover and two of the dips were eggplant based . My new favorite dip is the Mercimek Kofte which is a red lentil based chunky dip ; I would've guessed garbanzo bean based dip. The Haydari dip was also super addictive, a thick creamy dip made of kefir cheese and Greek yogurt. So many delicious but gut healthy items of the combo plate; which comes with thin lavash bread. Also loved the red lentil soup, which was warming on a rainy day. I thought it was flavorful without being overly spiced or too thick. My husband enjoyed the lamb kebabs. Tender juicy cuts of lamb that were well seasoned , comes on a bed of salad and rice. We also liked the charred red peppers and onions on the kebab . Service was sufficient Overall great little find for dinner !

Came back for dinner on a Tuesday night. I wanted something light so I had the lentil soup and the combo appetizer platter. I'm lactose intolerant so I asked if I could swap the haydari with some extra ezme instead and they were very accommodating. It was served with freshly griddled pita which went well with all the dips. I also enjoyed the chickpea salad. The soup was good too. My friend got a shrimp kebab which she loved. She said she was thinking about it since the last time she ordered it. The service was great too. The staff is always very friendly and nice!

The food is always amazing here. top tier lentil soup, great dippers and the kebab plates are filling and wonderful complete with an excellent and nutritious side salad of arugula and plenty of rice! the service was nice, easy to call the staff over and they were really quick with the water refills and the restaurant is clean with plenty of booth seating (my favourite) I've been here several times and Im always excited to go back.

This restaurant was cozy and spacious. Lots of decorative pieces on the walls. The waiters and waitresses were nice and responsive with our requests. We went for family dinner. The food was delicious. We ordered the Combo appetizer, most of us had the Kebab dinner with the Beef Stroganoff (forgot to take a photo!) and Halibut. Our grandma enjoyed the lamb and beef Kebab; she liked the flavored rice with orzos and the **lamb&beef kebab was soft and tender. The **mixed grill was amazing, we get to taste all the proteins in one plate. We are a family of dessert lovers- we got the top three dishes: kunefe, creme brulee and dark chocolate cake. We loved all three.

New favorite Mediterranean place! This is about a 15 min walk from where I live so I'll be coming here more often. Big fan of the portions at this restaurant. We ordered the combo plate which came with a lot of Pita bread, definitely enough to share among 4 people. Dishes came with a big helping of hummus too. I personally got the Kofte Kebab which filled me up. I had enough to bring home for lunch the next day. Getting a frozen yogurt at Easy Breezy is a must afterwards!!

Bursa is a hidden gem located in the West Portal neighborhood. On a weeknight my party of 2 was able to just walk-in around 5:45 with no reservations. Service -- waiter seated us quickly and brought menus, took order. Very good service, also brought check as soon as I requested it. Ambiance - Nicely decorated with banquette seating along the wall, and also not noisy (it was around half full). Very colorful and pleasant. Food - Now for the best part -- really good Middle Eastern food! I saw the restaurant on Check Please Bay Area and it looked amazing. Since there were just 2 of us with smaller appetites, we split the hummus appetizer with fresh pita, and the falafel salad. The Falafels have cheese and raisins in them -- so good! If I visited again with 2 more people, they have a large appetizer plate that includes baba ganoush, hummus and 3 or 4 other foods to dip in. Wine list was also good, I had a very nice glass of Crossings Sauvignon Blanc. There is street parking but you might have to drive around a bit. We parked 2 blocks away. I definitely plan to return.

Came for lunch on a Sunday with a party of six. Restaurant was not busy and we were seated right away. The waitstaff was nice and attentive. We ordered an appetizer and various lunch combos: chicken kabobs, veg kabobs, wraps. These entrees came with rice, hummus and salad. The food didn't take long to serve. Everything was delicious, chicken was tasty and moist, salad was fresh. There is metered street parking on West Portal, but since we came on a Sunday, parking was free. If no parking available, the nearby streets will have some curb parking if you're lucky! Restaurant is clean, beautiful decor, and the restroom is unisex. Definitely a go to spot for delicious Mediterranean food in the city!

It has been a while since we have dined here. Came in over the weekend while we were in the neighborhood. The location. . . West Portal (I consider West Portal to be a hidden gem location) The decor. . . nice, clean and well thought out design and color scheme The menu . . . small with nice selections, and a couple of daily specials The food. . . Very good. But I have to admit not quite as exceptional as the first visit Musakka - this was different than you may be used to. Served in a dish and is more of a stew and less "lasagna-like". The eggplant, zucchini and potatoes were cooked perfectly (not mushy), the flavors were still good. The top notch service was excellent from beginning to end. I think it is all good.

Nice service and great food. We tried some unique dishes and everything was delicious. Good portions too. Will definitely come back

Happy to have found this place! Very delicious, a wide variety of items to try. I got the lamb skewers, came with rice and a salad. Not a traditional Greek salad though. The spreads were all good. The staff was lovely. A little bit of a tight fit inside with a high chair but we made it work.

As much as Mazra is great at/known for their meats, they also put so much thought and care into their vegetables. For example, our favorite mezza is their Whole Cauliflower, which is a massive cauliflower head that's roasted and then coated with a lemon tahini dressing. (They also give you more lemon to squeeze on it.) The cauliflower always comes out perfectly roasted; the inner parts are tender and toothsome, while the outer parts are crispy and a deep, golden brown. Another great vegetable option is their Veggie Plate, which is a plate overflowing with delights on a bed of their rice: falafel; a segment of their cauliflower; roasted broccoli and potatoes; their saffron mushrooms; and a halloumi roll. Each item is about as perfect as can be, and the sheer quantity makes it a fantastic deal. Of course, we still love their shawarma plates, which you can get with either chicken or steak shawarma. The meat comes thinly cut and tender, and somehow still a bit juicy! The plates are also a great value, since they come with a ton of great items that pair well with the meat. These include a rich, savory sauce (toum [garlic sauce] with the chicken, tahini with the steak) and two of their amazing sides. My favorite sides are the baba ghannoush (creamy and earthy) and their fries (golden, crispy, and pillowy). They continue improving the space, too. The pickup window makes it so much easier to get takeout, and they've really dialed in the flow of the inside and back courtyard seating areas.

Before our meals, we tried the free Turkish tea, quite strong for me, added several sugar packs but no milk available. However, this place is still a win! The service and ambiance, solid. Welcoming staff. It did not disappoint. I'm coming back!

The Shawarma Combo Plate came with both chicken shawarma and lamb/beef shawarma, marinated, grilled strips of meat, topped with toum and green tahini, and served with yellow rice, arugula salad, hummus, and grilled slices of pita. The Combo Kebab Plate was an equally delicious collection of three grilled meat kebabs--I chose the chicken shish tawook, the lamb shish kebab, and the ground beef kafta. My favorite components of these dishes were the falafel and hummus, which went perfectly together with the grilled pita and the flavorful condiments. But a final favorite dish of mine was the Zahra Be Laben, a stew of fried cauliflower and tender cubes of lamb in a warm garlic yogurt sauce, served with yellow rice and pita bread on the side. The best part of this dish was the yogurt sauce, which was perfectly creamy, savory, and tangy, and which went perfectly with the other components. Overall, the flavors of the food here were all on point and worth the price. The service, however, was slow and not particularly attentive.

When we got there, it was extremely busy inside and outside, but despite the anticipated wait, we were seated within 5 minutes or so. As a heads up, the Cole Valley location is very small. There is seating inside and outside, but it is pretty loud inside (not that it detracted from our meal). We noticed there was a lot of take out orders coming through, so it seems like this place is equally popular for takeout, which makes sense given it's small size (they do not take reservations). We started off with the mezze sampler, which has lebna, muhammara, baba ganoush, hummus, pickles, and falafel. We all loved the sampler, although we noticed it didn't come with a lot of pita bread. Since most of our entrees were also coming with pita bread, it wasn't an issue. I particularly enjoyed the lebna, which was super creamy but had a nice tang that rounded out the flavor. The hummus and baba ganoush were also very good, and the muhammara was rich and had a great flavor. My mom got the falafel platter, my dad got the grilled hanger steak, my partner got the musakhan and I got the chicken shish tawook plate. My mom really enjoyed the falafel platter. It was super loaded with falafel, baba ganoush and hummus. The falafels were really good. They were nicely fried, but still had a soft and tender interior. My dad liked the hanger steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The green zhug sauce was interesting, and the freekeh had a nice nutty and earthy flavor. Our favorites were the musakhan and the chicken shish tawook plate. The musakhan had a really interesting sweet/savory spiced flavor, and was complemented really nicely with the caramelized onions, sumac, pine nuts and toasted pita. The skin had a nice crispness but the chicken was super tender. The chicken shish tawook was definitely my favorite. The chicken had an incredible, charcoal-grilled taste and was super tender without being dry or overcooked at all. This was the best bite I've had all year, and I loved dipping the grilled chicken in the lebna, muhammara, baba ganoush and hummus that remained from our sampler plate. Highly, highly recommend this place. Super reasonable prices for generous portions of super flavorful food. Next time, we'd love to try the lamb shank and branzino.

This was definitely the standout dish to me, and I'd hiiiighly recommend it. For mains, I was doing Meatless Monday, so I got the super falafel wrap. This wrap was also sooo delicious and massive! The falafel was really flavorful, and all the toppings and tahini sauce were just perfect additions. The restaurant itself is really pleasant and bright, great for pretty much any occasion. Service was also good (you order via QR code, but they bring the food out to you) and prices are reasonable given the quality and portion size. Definitely a new fav spot in SF!

The tables in this establishment are pretty small if you come as a party of two, and that's the part that I've been struggling with because there's nowhere for me to hang my purse usually whenever we're sitting there, and the chairs are metal, so the straps tend to slide off and I just have to end up holding my bag. I've tried their plate and wraps but I'm not blown away by the flavor profiles. The service is okay. You are seated upon entering, but you order through a QR code yourself and then that they just bring out the meal to you.

Strolling around Valencia Street chilling and checking out the stores, shops and restaurants…read more Wanted to have a light early dinner so decided to try Anatolian Tavern. We liked their outdoor parklet and table seating (we had our dog with us). One of the few places that cater to al fresco dining. We initially walked past this restaurant and the waiter told us to sit down and give their food a try. We told him we would come back... which we did. Along with a glass of wine we ordered their Hummus cold mezes, Borek hot mezes and the Kubasi Pide flat bread the waiter recommended. All three items were excellent! Hummus was smooth and rich flavored, served with their house made seasoned bread was delish! Ask for more bread. The Borek was crispy light and flakey with the cheesy center. Wow so good! The finale was the Kubasi Pide flatbread. Nice crisp golden brown crust with savory meaty filling. Beautifully crafted and served on a wood platter. Service was wonderful and the vibe was satisfying.

I was very interested to try this restaurant after seeing some of the dishes online…read more I brought my family for a late dinner and we absolutely loved the vibe and the interior decor. The staff were super nice and accommodating, despite us getting there so late/close to closing time. After a round of beers, we tried several dishes, including the lahmacun, the pastirma pide, the falafel salad, and for dessert, the rice pudding. I definitely preferred the pides and the rice pudding was delicious! However, I was not a huge fan of the lahmacun. It was bland despite the side veggies, and desperately in need of salt. All the savory dishes would have benefited from a bit more salt, in fact. Overall, still a very good meal and I recommend trying it!
