Their Froyo (please get a topping, I promise it will make it better!) was amazing - super thick and creamy, and the environment outside of their establishment is also the best place to eat it. Super comfy! And while not exactly due to the establishment, but due to SF's more temperate climate, the Froyo just did not melt that fast, allowing me to fully enjoy it. I also got a lamb pita, and it was absolutely yummerz. Price was fantastic for the quality.

Came here to grab something before going to the theater. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We seated ourselves on the big table and shared with other patrons. We ordered the Chicken Wrap and it came with shaved fennel, pieces of navel orange, pickled red onion, pea shoots, this traditional Greek cheese they call mizithra cheese, and Granch™ Dressing (Greek & ranch). It was delicious and went very well with their freshly made Greek fries. We'll definitely have to come back and try other items on their menu.

This is my go to salad. It's just so good. Skipped the frozen Greek yogurt today but will be back for the one with baklava crumbles soon! Staff were friendly and courteous.

This place was so good! I ordered the half chicken, side salad, fries , and a frozen yogurt. I split all of this with my kids and there was more than enough food. So much flavor and goodness. I have never had the Greek frozen yogurt before and they let me taste it before I purchased one. I was unable to finish it bc the portion was too big. I would definitely recommend this place!

We came to Souvla on a Monday afternoon for lunch and it was decently busy. I ordered Pork Salad with Greek Fries, and the food came out pretty quickly. The salad is delicious, decent crunch, and adequate sauce. The PORK is seasoned well and not too dry. The fries are seasoned very well as well and had the right amount of crisp. The portion is also appropriate for the price. Ambiance here is nice, a lot of seating in the restaurant and also outside. People here are also very friendly and nice. I will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu when i'm in the area.

The place has both indoor and outdoor seating, and there's even counter seating inside, so it feels casual and easy to drop by solo. I went around 3pm and it happened to be happy hour, so I got to enjoy some wine at a great price. FOOD The seasonal trout sandwich was packed with fresh veggies. The half chicken was nicely roasted and paired really well with the Greek yogurt sauce on the side. The yogurt ice cream wasn't sweet and tasted super refreshing. I chose the cherry syrup, which added a nice sweet and tangy touch--perfect after a meal. The olive and salt combo was a bit on the salty side since there were chunks of salt in it. It might not be the best as a dessert, but surprisingly, it worked pretty well as a dip for fries lol. The yogurt ice cream is perfect for a hot day--I'd definitely like to try other flavors next time!

A must try! My go to is the chicken salad & greek fries - a well balanced meal. You'll see the chickens roasting inside - great flavor & not dry at all. Fries are crispy! Ordered at the counter and worker brought out the food not that long after. Indoor & outdoor seating available - take advantage of the outdoor seating when it's a nice day out! Indoor seating looks clean & quite spacious. Located in a good area. Just a bummer they don't have that many locations outside of SF.

My sister recommended their ice cream, she said it was different from others because it has the Greek twist. It's basically plain frozen Greek yogurt with baklava crumbles and honey syrup. It's good if you like plain Greek yogurt which can be sour for some people. But it balances out with the honey syrup they use. The baklava crumbles give it a good crunch and different type of topping to this frozen dessert. Worth a try if you're in the area.

Great casual spot in Hayes Valley. There's a lot of nice restaurants in the area, but on busy weekends, you might need a reservation for those places - Souvla saves the day by being quick and casual. I've been here many times and there's usually a short wait/line, but it's never too long, so don't let a crowd discourage you. Food comes out pretty fast and the menu is simple enough so that the ordering line also goes by fast. I typically opt for one of the salad options - the pork shoulder salad bowl is my favorite. These salads are huge and filling. I'm not a salad person but these are great and well-worth the price. I also love their frozen yogurt - perfect on a hot day. All of their menu options are sharing-size in my opinion, so if you're a couple, you could easily split a salad plus frozen yogurt and both be satisfied. Overall, love Souvla and this location! Would recommend if you're in the area and need a quick bite.

Just a short walk from the opera house and symphony venue! Love that is fast service, with a very cozy inside, that doesn't feel like fast food. They had some cute festive decor up too. Don't worry about not having a seat when you order, it clears up quickly. I ordered the side salad, fries, pita, and 2 dipping sauces (harissa-spiked and garlic mint). I do wish the flavors were stronger on the dips, but everything was really so good! My partner ordered the sandwich (I can't remember what meat) and roasted potatoes (they have chicken drippings). He loved both. We also ordered Greek yogurt with baklava crumble. So so good! Sour, but the crumble is the perfect pairing. Serve was friendly and the restaurant is clean. Vegetarian options and pet friendly patio!

I love Souvla! I always get the chicken sandwich with extra granch sauce and the Greek yogurt with honey and baklava pieces! The food is always made fresh to order, fast service, and I never leave disappointed! If you are in the San Francisco area look up Souvla and give it a try! They have sandwiches, salads, fries and at least 3 different protein options as well as vegetarian! I can eat this everyday honestly! The vibes are off the hook here and you have to check it out for yourself! I highly recommend this place to everyone!

Genuine question: how is Souvla's frozen greek yogurt so delicious? I am addicted, and it somehow tastes better every time I have it. I've visited several times, and there's always a good amount of people in line or seated. The service is super fast: with the frozen greek yogurt, they prepare it right in front of you. The interior of the store feels warm and welcoming. Even though Souvla is a casual restaurant, the decor feels fancy and polished. The frozen greek yogurt is the perfect dessert. It's a reasonable price, and every cup is always piled with yogurt and toppings. The frozen greek yogurt is not too sweet and has the perfect refreshing tartness. I'm a huge fan of the sour cherry syrup - it complements the sweet and tart greek yogurt perfectly. The baklava crumbles and honey syrup are my absolute favorite toppings. The rich baklava and sweet honey are an outstanding contrast to the sour greek yogurt. I definitely need to try Souvla's other dishes because the frozen greek yogurt impresses me to no end.

Wanted to get a quick bite before a flight and we decided to try Souvla based purely off the prospects of dessert! The Resturant is dimly lit which made it really nice and intimate. We ordered and got our food almost within 7 minutes, which was so great! I tried the chicken gyro with french fries and it was good! The orange inside was a delightfully surprise. Needed a bit more salt, but that is my preference. My friend tried the veggie salad and enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we got the frozen Greek yogurt with crumbles of baklava and the one with olive oil and salt. Both were delicious! The yogurt was the stand out. Definitely worth a try if you have ever wondered about the salt and oil on ice cream flavors combination.

What cooking oil do they use for their meats? I thought it was Olive Oil - but I may be wrong...

That i am not 100% sure on but they are Italians so I would have to say if I were to guess it would be a italian olive oil from Italy and not just a local shelf one. 😉

When will you start offering your frozen yogurts on DoorDash again? I've been checking all week and it's not available and we don't live close enough to come in to pick-up :(

What's a good alternative dressing for the chicken salad? They forgot the yogurt dressing AGAIN on my take-out order.

They use a bit of oil like olive oil (I think).

    Are there any vegan options?

I believe there is a vegetable sandwich or bowl made just like the meat options. Suggest you call.

What is a good time to go, to avoid long lines?

I always order online! It's always done within 5-10 minutes. You can eat your online order there if you wish.

I booked our table about a month in advance, which turned out to be the right move because the restaurant was bustling during the lunch hour. To start, we ordered four small plates to share among our party of four: meatballs, saganaki, spanakotiropita, and a pair of dips (melitzanosolata and favasalata) with pita. Everything was excellent, and our spread was inclusive of a wide variety of flavors and textures: salty, creamy, acidic, sweet, crunchy. The meatballs and the dips are definitely a must-order and are ideal for sharing. The spanakotiropita were larger and more filling than expected, so if I were to order those again, I'd dial it back and stick with small plates rather than a full-sized entree. The saganaki was a showstopper; it is served sizzling and crackling on a cast iron dish and had a nice salty flavor that allowed the cheese to be served on its own. For my main dish, I ordered the braised goat - which is not something I'd typically order because goat meat is usually tough - but I was intrigued how it was prepared as a stew. The dish almost reminded me of a Moroccan tagine - the goat was braised to peak tenderness and bathed in a slightly fruity and well-spiced sauce; dotted with pieces of melted feta; and served on top of a bed of baked orzo, which was served fresh-from-the oven in a mini cast iron dish. I was so full after our meal that I had to walk it off for a few blocks, but I cannot wait for our next special occasion so we can come back and celebrate with another feast at Kokkari Estiatorio.

Thoughts going through my head "how can this taste so good," "I wasn't expecting this tonight," "this is the most tender gyro meat I've ever had," "how nicely this sauce pairs with the rice." Service was so friendly. Walked in for Friday dinner cus it's try a new restaurant night. Surprised it was empty. They got quite a bit of takeout orders but no one eating in there. Only the workers in there. Was greeted immediately with a smile. Wasn't sure if I had to order then seat myself or politely ask to get a table first. Sometimes it's confusing at some places, I didn't want to be weird. Asked for a table then server brought menus to us. But the next person who walked in just ordered and paid right away at the cashier then sat down. So I don't know. I wasn't given water with my sit down meal. Cus I ordered the food without mentioning water, so it must be one of those don't ask don't get kinda things. As requested. FOOD: *lamb & beef gyro plate: what is this goodness! Meat is so tender. As a takeout place, Gyros and Tzatziki normally gets four stars, but as a restaurant, it's definitely three stars, and I'll tell you why. This place needs better management. Failing that, one of the three guys who is normally working when I come needs to take charge, because the current setup isn't working. You order at the counter, which is common at many San Francisco restaurants. One of the three guys will help you, but sometimes, one of them is just sitting or standing a few feet away from the cash register, but he won't acknowledge your presence. It's as if only people who will actually take your order are allowed to speak to you. Once you do (eventually) place your order, you're in for a wait. If you're eating in, that's all right, because the food is definitely worth the wait, and the small seating area is normally comfortable. If you're taking it to go, however, they refuse to say anything about where to be while waiting. I normally just sit down at an empty table because I know it will be awhile, but when I stand, I always feel like I'm in someone's way. When they're busy, not only does your food take forever to come out, but the service just goes out the window. Again, only three guys working, including the chef, but why does one of the remaining two guys always seem to be so stand-around-looking-dumb lazy? And the funny part is that it's not always the same guy; the one I used to think was a hard worker was sitting in a chair near the back last time I came. It was like he was in a timeout; he wasn't looking at his phone, just yelling random things to the cook occasionally while the other poor guy had to deal with four different parties eating in, plus all the to-go orders. So order it to go before you arrive. Or sit down and try to figure out what's going on.

It was tart and slightly sweet. Super refreshing and generous serving too! I would definitely come back if I was in the area.

I had my first Souvla experience at the Dogpatch location, and it lived up to the legend. The menu was short and sweet; since I was in the mood for bread, I ordered the chicken wrap (vs. the salad). Our food was brought to our table almost instantly. I was a bit intimidated by the gigantic wrap in front of me, but once I tasted my first bite of the lemony rotisserie chicken, I suddenly understood why everyone raves about Souvla. The creamy yogurt sauce, pickled onion, and sweet orange slices gave the wrap an elevated feel. The pita was a bit tough and hard to cut and chew, but it did its job in holding everything together. Next time, I will try the salad for comparison and make sure that I save room to try the frozen Greek yogurt.

Review only on their frozen greek yogurt!…read more This has been on my list to try and actually wasn't on my list to try on my last trip to SF, however, I stumble upon it while going to eat next door. Parking is meter street parking. I would try across the street if you can't find any close by. I knew I had to order their frozen yogurt. They offer a couple of choices for topping with the frozen yogurt like sour cherry syrup, olive oil and flaky sea salt, baklava crumbles and honey syrup, and lastly, wildflower honey. I ended up going with the frozen yogurt topped with baklava. First off, the frozen yogurt is super tart but the baklava is the great addition to balance it out. It made me keep on going back for another spoonful. I really enjoy it and its something I do think and crave for. Overall, come here if you want some frozen yogurt!
