Basmati Rice that came with my entree

Welcome to the neighborhood Himalayan/Nepalese food cuisine! You have no idea how long I waited for a restaurant like this to pop up on this side of town as I have been traveling to different parts of the city just to eat Nepalese food. It's still had same setup from the Korean restaurant that was here so many years ago that gave the homely neighborhood relaxing vibe, not sure if they will make any changes down the road they did put up some nice decorations of the colorful ribbons of the region. We ordered the Momo Platter $16.00 3 pieces each. Veg, chicken, and pork The veggie was just ok and I would stick with the meat options as it more flavor. Sherpa Mixed Grill-$22.95 Combination of chicken, lamb, and salmon The salmon was my favorite as it was soft and tender and the lamb was good as well. Chicken was just ok. The Must orders that stood out: Kukhura Bhanta - Chicken & Eggplant $17.95 was a Slow-cooked chicken and eggplant in homemade sauce. Served with choice of basmati, brown, or plain rice I could just inhale this dish all by myself if I wanted but I had to be nice and share it. Excellent texture and taste of flavors and food pairing was perfect. This was just a perfect dish A+. Garlic naan and butter naan both excellent Chowmein $14.95 was the Traditional Nepali wok-fried noodles with chicken, fresh seasonal veggies and Sherpa's spices. I was very impressed with this dish as it texture was different from what I was accustomed to and flavor as well. The chowmein was unique in taste and texture very different from typical Chinese restaurants. I really liked this with unique spices, surprisingly. There's so many other items to try and the restaurant was pretty busy for a Saturday night and a line was forming later as the night progressed and there was people just ordering take out standing by the kitchen. I feel this restaurant represents its culture well and I am glad these dishes are gaining popularity. I would like to come back to try other dishes for sure!

Nice little Nepalese cuisine house warm deco clean tables and excellent staff serving garlic naan, tikki fries and creamy chicken makhmali. Momo platter dumpling plates are fillings and tasty too.

Well this was a lovely surprise! Heading to SFO early and decided to stop and eat along the way, so chose a place close to 19th Av that had a great Yelp rating. We had a great omen predicting the dinner - a parking spot directly in front of the restaurant on Taraval. We were not misled! First, the owner/Matre'd was VERY friendly, and a wealth of information (not just about the food either). We asked for some suggestions for our party and were not disappointed with what arrived! Everything from the appetizers to the entrees to the side dishes was dazzling. The mix of South Asian flavors from the chef (who actually WAS a Sherpa in the 90s) was delicious, flavorful, fresh, and abundant. Honestly, I can't wait to get back and try more dishes, the Tibet/India/Burma mix is just incredible.

Yellow lentil soup to start our lovely meal, milk tea, what a beautiful beginning!

What a beautiful place! Great food, relaxing atmosphere, large menu. You can choose your level of spiciest HOT fire to mild. Nepalese / Himalayan / Indian food: excellent curries, several kinds of sauces, milk tea, many other choices. Complimentary soup to start this great meal. Food is beautiful presented by an elegant knowledgeable server. Quiet relaxing ambiance. Well prepared dishes, large portions, slow cooked tender chicken and lamb. There is fish / shrimp curry and veggie dishes too, We will have to try some of the other main dishes / sauces and beverages, next time. We really enjoyed our meals and this pretty restaurant. Location on Taraval St. has very limited parking, it's across the street from Safeway. Try Easy parking on side streets. The LRV street car goes by in front, an easy travel option.

***UPDATE*** It's our 3rd time here and still, it seems like a spot unseen! Maybe their location is too far from other restaurants to be noticed? They have Himalayan decor showcasing their beautiful culture making it a cozy spot to enjoy a meal. We absolutely love all the dishes we've had here so far! Everything is flavorful, delicious, and plentiful! Well worth the amount paid. For 3 people, it was only $53 and we had leftovers! That's why it surprises me that it's always quiet when we come. And service is attentive and food comes out in a reasonable manner. They even give a sampler of lentil soup at the beginning of your meal and rice pudding at the end. I hope others will be curious enough to check out Sherpa House! So if you haven't tried them, you're missing out on GREAT food!!!

Delicious! Stopped by here this week for the first time and it won't be the last time. It was super busy on a Friday night and the service was a little bit slow, but we weren't in a rush and enjoyed sitting back and relaxing. They also started our meal off with a complimentary lentil soup. They were super accommodating and changed the momo platter for us to pork, veg, paneer - they were all so good. We also got the chili paneer and the egg fried rice (medium spice) and damn it was spicy but realllllly good once we got used to the spice.

Amazing food and amazing service! The staff is super friendly. I came here with a party of 7 to celebrate a few birthdays, and it was such a good experience! The staff played the happy birthday song over the tv/speakers and gave traditional Tibetan(?) scarves to the birthday people. Overall, everyone was happy and we will definitely come back again.

SERVICE - located on the outskirts of west portal - street parking available nearby - homely interior with warm lighting and Nepali inspired decor - very friendly service made the experience enjoyable as he provided honest recommendations and gave us free dal and kheer to taste - food served relatively quickly MENU - wide selection of nepali small bites and larger entrees - vegan/vegetarian options available - average price FOOD - vegetable momos (8/10): six pieces of vegetable filled steamed momos served with two different chutneys. Coming to a nepali restaurant I had to order momos. You could tell that these were made fresh as the vegetables were still crisp on the inside. I liked the pairing with the two different chutneys, one being slightly sweeter and more tangy and the other being spicy. If you were just ordering this I would get the larger plate of 8 but if sharing with other dishes then 6 is fine. - vegetable chow mein (9/10): wok fried noodles with vegetables and spices. This was recommended to us by our server and it did not disappoint. The spices were subtle yet flavorful. I liked how it was not super oily as a lot of wok fried noodles tend to be. It was a simple base that could go well with any vegetable or tofu dish. I only wish the veg option defaulted to come with tofu as it would have made it more substantial to have on its own. - gorkhali chili tofu (8/10): fried tofu cubes in a sweet and spicy chili sauce with bell peppers and onions. This felt like eating gobi manchurian but with tofu instead of cauliflower. It went very well with the chow mein. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The service and food were excellent.

Delicious food only made better by the great staff and service. I came here late on a very cold night and despite it being a little before closing, my server was really helpful in helping me decide on what to get and was generally welcoming. I'm not sure if this was complimentary, but before my meal they brought out a comforting lentil soup to try and it really warmed me up. The curries were portioned perfectly, spiced well, and not too oily. The samosas were large and crispy and great with the sauces. IMO great for the price. By the time I finished up, I was the last in the restaurant but the staff never rushed me and welcomed me to stay. They even provided me with some delicious hot tea while I was paying my bill. Overall, one of the best sf dining experiences I had and will look forward to coming back :)

We are happy to find a new Nepalese restaurant in Parkside - SF. It opens in June this year. We ordered chicken mo mo, chicken and eggplant, grilled salmon, lamb curry, and chicken biryani. Basmati rice or naan came with the main dishes. Lentil soup was on the house. We enjoyed every dish. The staffs were attentive. The restaurant is small, cozy, and clean. All the Himalayan/Nepalese restaurants we have tried in Bay Area, Sherpa House is the one we recommend.

2nd time eating at this quaint restaurant tucked in the middle of Taraval and 18th Ave! This time I was the first customer upon its opening for dinner at 4:30. Service has always been great and this time didn't disappoint! The server was attentive and quick to start my order after providing a couple courtesy minutes for me to decide what to have. I ended up ordering the Everest wings (6pcs), chicken momos (6pcs), paneer momos (6pcs), and finally a chicken biryani. It was all highly delectable and satisfying--my taste buds praised me both times I have been to this establishment!

It was surprising that we were able to get served so quickly on a weekend night, but actually about an hour later, the entire restaurant was packed so we got lucky. I actually couldn't believe that I hadn't tried this restaurant until recently given how many reviews it has. Between the six of us, we ordered a variety of dishes to share for the table. Some of the things that we ordered included the butter chicken, the garlic naan, the coconut naan, plain naan, along with the chow mein with shrimp, pork belly small plate, the kale chaat, the daal bhat, and the chicken momos. From this list, my favorites were the garlic naan, the chow mein, and the kale chaat. Next time, I'd skip over the pork belly as it wasn't anything special. The coconut naan wasn't my favorite either but was nice to try something new. I also didn't really enjoy the daal bhat though I know it's a popular dish of theirs. To each their own. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back. I don't crave this type of cuisine too often, but when I do, this will definitely be the spot to hit up.

We weren't super hungry so we decided to keep it light and just do appetizers. We ordered the pork momo, roti, pork belly bhutuwa and tandoori octopus and honestly everything was amazing. The standouts were the pork belly bhutuwa and the tandoori octopus. The pork belly was incredibly juicy and just the right portion for two people. The octopus was prepared perfectly, tender with no rubberiness at all which is always the make or break on that dish. Highly recommend all of the items we tried! The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is that they were out of the chatamari and chicken momos when we visited, which was a little disappointing since those were on my must try list. Hopefully next time they have everything in stock. Will definitely be back!
