The dinner was a little inconsistent... 3.5 overall. My wife and i went here for our 9 year wedding anniversary. As soon as we came in, we were greeted warmly and in a very friendly way. The place had both modern and romantic vibes. I loved what i saw going in. We were seated promptly and the service was good. We started with the firecracker shrimp which was crispy and delicious. It was an amazing starter for a lovely evening. My wife ordered the scallop risotto and i the New York strip. The risotto was slightly undercooked and the scallops i bit into was cooked well, but unfortunately was not cleaned very well. I got some sand on the side with my wife's scallops to which my wife also told me that another one of her scallops also had sand in it. My ny strip was hefty with a twice baked potato and green beans. The beans tasted as they should, and the baked potato was creamy on the inside but tasted pretty well though it was a little too dense for my taste. The strip itself was cooked to perfection (i ordered medium well) however, it tasted too salty for my liking, which made it difficult to finish. We ended the night with a great crème brûlée, the burned sugar on top was a great way to end a good night. read more

The food and drinks were really delicious! Our seafood dishes were fresh and pan seared perfectly (Halibut, haddock, scallops). Fresh salad ingredients were much appreciated after a long plane ride across the country. My (adult) family and I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the ambience. We found this restaurant on Yelp after failing to find a restaurant in downtown Boston (En route to the Cape). The only thing that wasn't great was the efficiency of the service. The staff was super friendly but understandably slow (Day before Thanksgiving, I give them a pass). Prices were fair for the high quality of the drinks and food. Calamari was nicely lightly friend w the tentacles and rings, which I love. The only strange thing out of all the dishes was the beet salad, it was a hefty serving of beets (literally 90% beets) with a small layer of lettuce greens. read more

Bella and I always enjoy our meals and ambiance here at Burton's. We have a favorite little book across from the bar. It's our private booth, it's quiet but we still get the vibe of the restaurant. Service? I've been here 25 times and it's always excellent! Last nite Angie was our server and she was superb! Tried two salads last nite. Superfood with added crab cake was delicious Bella had a healthy sales with chicken and that was also delicious. We arrived at 6:30 on Friday nite without a reservation but got a booth in 14 minutes. We dined at Burton's Bar and Grill on Sunday afternoon. The food was amazing. We had two appetizers; the steak and cheese egg rolls and spinach dip. Both we hot, fresh, and delicious. The Blueberry Hibiscus Lemonade was so flavorful and not too sweet. Our server Alexis M. was intuitive and on the ball. My water glass was never empty, and when she was away, she would anticipate my needs, even without me asking. We both had the crispy fish sandwich and chips. I had my order as it was listed on the menu, topped with pickle chips, pickled red onion, and tartar sauce on a toasted, buttery, brioche bun. From beginning to end, our time at the restaurant was worth the cost. We will return to the Hingham location and request Alexis if possible. read more

Previously have given 5 stars to this location- we understand there are constraints during this situation. But last nignt our take out was nothing short of gross. We ordered the California chicken sandwich & steak tips with risotto. The chicken was rubbery, and cold, steak tips were dry and overcooked and risotto was bland. Grabbed dinner here on a Saturday night and made reservations on Thursday since I figured it would probably be a busy night and I was right. Walking in, the hostess stand is right in front of the door making it a very tight area for guests to check in/wait for a table. It was also a rainy night so going outside to wait wasn't really an option. It felt very chaotic standing there in the midst of everyone coming in, going out, people asking for tables, wait staff constantly saying excuse me to get through the crowd. We were told our table was being cleared for us to be seated, but still ended up waiting an extra 10-15 minutes before actually sitting even with a reservation. The hostess staff seemed overwhelmed. I'm not sure if it's a new team or they were just understaffed, but it felt like no one really knew what was going on or keeping up with the tables to give accurate wait times. Our waitress told us this Burton's was the first one and has been opened for 13 years, but it definitely didn't function like that at the hostess area. I genuinely thought it was a new location. Despite the chaos, the food and service were really good. I believe our waitress was Kathie who was super nice and gave great recommendations for food and drinks. I ordered the sangria mimosa which was delicious! It came in a nice big glass and truly made it feel worth the money I was spending. We started with the buffalo chicken dip which was good! I was expecting shredded chicken and was surprised to see actual chicken chunks. I ordered the maxx burger with the works! The waitress asked if I wanted bacon, avocado or sautéed mushrooms and naturally I wanted all three. It was honestly a great decision to add those on! I also ordered a side of Parmesan fries which were good. I would've liked more cheese, but who wouldn't? For dessert we ordered the bananas foster since it was a special. It sounded really great on paper, but I was disappointed with it. The dish was basically overloaded with sauce that was too sweet and drowned the sugar cookies and bananas. It just ruined the dish for me. One of the cookies we didn't even eat because it was soaked in all of that sauce. A friend of mine who was at the Boca Raton location the same time I was at this one sent me a picture of her bananas foster after telling me I had to order it. Her plate vs. my plate was literally night and day! She had three scoops of ice cream, there was a sauce drizzle, but nothing too crazy and the cookies were still intact. Her plate looked much more appetizing than the sloppy soup we received. I would come back here as the food was really good and I'd like to try some other items on the menu as well. read more

Quality has gone way down. I have frequented this location for a decade. My experience last night was poor at best. The plates on the table were dirty, asked for replacement and busser brought 2 new plates that were also dirty. The menu was covered in food I asked for a new one and that replacement had salad dressing on it. I wanted to leave right away but the rest of party wanted to stay. 3.5 stars Pros: -I'm a huge fan of Burton's, and this one has the same menu items as all of the others. There's something for everyone, and the General Tsao's Cauliflower and the Buffalo Chicken Dip are excellent appetizers. I also really like the short rib grilled cheese (although, its more of a panini than a grilled cheese). The food is solidly delicious, and a bit creative. -Clean -Good service Cons: -This location doesn't have any beer on tap! The beer list is abysmal; unless you love Coors light or Angry Orchard. I don't understand how they can get away with this beer list and be at this price point. -This location is much smaller than the other locations I've been to; even the waiting area is very small and encroaches on people sitting/eating in the bar. We had an 8 pm reservation and were not seated until closer to 8:20 pm. -When we were there, they had run out of the dip for the General Tsao's Cauliflower, which was a bummer. read more

It's little forced at Burton's. Good restaurant, but it belongs at The Hingham Shipyard rather than the likes of The Derby Street Shops. To me the food was a step above a "Not Your Average Joe's" chain. Very similar menu. I've been twice, but nothing really stood out enough to make me come back a third time. It is convenient, but lackluster. Had a salad one time and then a burger the second... both while I was shopping mid-afternoon. Clientele and customer base more suited for The Hingham Shipyard. Stopped here for dinner since I was in the area already. I had the chicken risotto but I wasn't really impressed with the meal. It was more of a chicken featuring artichoke with some risotto thrown in there. I feel like it could have been constructed better (maybe if the chicken was on top of a bed of risotto I don't know) because each bite was different and I found myself digging through the plate trying to look for everything. Obviously, that impacted the flavor because I did like the risotto and the sauce, I just wish there was more of it and less artichokes. The service was OK, nothing remarkable or out of the ordinary. We didn't actually get to eat here because our server never showed up. This happened Friday Aug. 23rd. The problems started as soon as we entered. We approached the seating desk and stood there while FOUR people standing there ignored us. The hostess was busy scribbling on the seating chart while talking to what I think was the manager, and a young man stood there watching them. A waitress showed up and also ignored us. Ages passed before I asked the manager if they were seating people in the not-full restaurant. Finally the hapless host brought us somewhere, and we just sat there forever. As we left I told the hostess and host that no one had stopped by and that the table was free. WHAT A CIRCUS. I see that other people loved this place so we might try again, but the service was so bad it was almost comical. read more

We always have a wonderful time and a great meal at the Derby St. Burtons! Their Mai Tai is one of my favorites! I loved the burger (cooked perfectly) and fries (hot, crispy, & perfectly seasoned). We usually LOVE Burtons in South Windsor, CT. It's always a safe choice in terms of customer service, ambiance and food. We went to the Hingham location last night, and it's probably the LAST time I will give them my business. I made a reservation for 8, we showed up at 750 to see if they could seat us early. They informed me that my reservation was for 8:15, no big deal, but the hostess over the phone told me 8pm. It was very crowded and they kept telling us we were next, however they kept seating people right as they walked in who did NOT have a reservation. Then the hostess snapped at me when I asked her at 8:25 if our table was ready yet. She went from nice to very rude. Not to mention there were about 8 open tables at this point. Our waitress was nice and we ordered the stuffed haddock and salmon with beet salad. After a long wait, the food runner came out, basically threw our plates on our table because she was in such a rush, before giving us a chance to see if it was ok. My haddock and vegetables came out cold, but the plate was warm which means it was sitting under a heat lamp for too long, and there were no seasonings or sauces with it so I had to send it back. It took the waitress another 15 minutes to come over to check on us, at this point it was 930, and she was nice about making it right, it took another 1/2 hour to get my plate, which was good the 2nd time around....was it worth the $29 price tag? Not at all, but at this point I was starving. I asked to speak to the manager but was told they were "tied up" Left a very bad taste in my mouth, literally and figuratively. read more
