Something so refreshing about this place. Went here today for breakfast after having not come for about 5 years and could not be more satisfied. Bus Stop Cafe is a quaint and serene place. The atmosphere epitomizes warm and friendly. The service is also beyond outstanding- friendly and professional. The quality of the food far surpassed expectations and the portions served were hearty. As for the the prices, they are very good for a restaurant located on Hudson St. I will not only be returning to this place, but also recommending it to people. Fast service... Eggs Benedict with Spinach was perfect as were the cubed and crispy breakfast potatoes. Comfortable outdoor seating area wasn't cramped like most places and was shaded during early afternoon so no worries about getting too hot in the sun. Great spot for a little people watching too. Definitely will be back to try some other brunch options on the menu, for sure. read more

I came to New York travelling and stopped by Bus stop cafe as it was highly recommended from many of my Australian friends. It was amazing food that came with fantastic service. While I was here I had the stripped bass that was so tender and fresh! I would recommend this to anyone! I'll definitely be back! read more

I've come here for years. And years. While I've yet to have the brunch, the dinner at Bus Stop Cafe has been great - every time. I've brought many friends here and the hubby, too - all have been happy with not only the food but the reasonable prices for NYC. As a regular, their paninis/sandwiches are the best!! My only two pieces of advice - until you know the area, it can be a little hard to find so map it out online and know your cross-streets; or, ask a friendly NY'er for help once you're in the West Village. Second, as of my last visit, they are still a 'cash only' establishment so be sure to hit an ATM before you go. Enjoy! read more

Cute restaurant with basic food. The menu is pretty large with lots of different type of foods - it's like a diner in that way. I had chicken parm, which was great because it was exactly what I was craving at the time. In the scheme of things it wasn't the best chicken parm ever, but it was tasty. With a menu so large, you're bound to find something you'd like. I was there on a damp and rainy night so we sat inside, but I imagine the outdoor seating would be great on a nice day. I just happened to stumble upon this place last night while walking for an hour, looking for a place I could get something healthy and also a place that wasn't packed with people. I sat outside and it was cute and quaint. I enjoyed people watching and didn't feel funny sitting alone as I usually do. The waiter was so nice and more than happy to keep refilling my water and soda glasses as needed. I ordered the salmon which was absolutely delicious. The broccoli was so good too, I'm not sure it was as "healthy" as I wanted it to be because it tasted so good, so I'm guessing there was butter or something on it. Anyway, great experience and I would go back in a heartbeat. Oh and their salmon was priced on the low end of what I've seen and the portion was on the bigger side of what I have seen. read more

I live in the neighborhood and frequent this restaurant often. Unfortunately, I recently ordered for delivery and was disappointed when a 15-30 minute estimate turned into an hour and fifteen minute delivery time. I called after 45 minutes and was told that the order hadn't been made yet. When it was delivered an hour and fifteen minutes later it was ice cold. I called to express my disappointment and the man I spoke with argued with me, told me that it was supposed to be cold (really? waffles and a breakfast sandwich?) and then denied responsibility for the delivery estimate being inaccurate. All in all, the restaurant is reasonably priced for the neighborhood, but I've learned that you get what you pay for. UPDATE: The restaurant just sent over another order, completely re-made and a glass of OJ for my troubles. That was pretty solid of them. I'll up them to three and a half stars. read more

My wife and I have been eating here for years, and it is our favorite neighborhood go-to place. The prices are very good, the food is way above diner average, sometimes ranks with fine dining. The vegetables are always fresh (no canned or frozen) and the mashed potatoes are tasty and real. We rarely hit a clinker, though it may happen. They are such pleasant people that one is never afraid to ask for a replacement dish. My wife has had mussels that she said ranks with the best, I love their turkey chop steak with mashed and spinach. Burgers, salads of all sorts, sandwiches, and daily specials are available. Their breakfast, lunches and brunches are very popular in the neighborhood. The atmosphere is cozy and romantic at dinner, the lighting is warm and complementary, the service is very caring, and the food is so very beyond average, that everyone gets great value for their money. Our whole family (grand children, and children) and friends love to go there for dinner, especially when we are all in a generic food mood and asian or other ethnic food is not a question. Note that many of their Italian dishes are excellent, and there is such a variety of choices, from meat to fish, that everybody usually gets to order anything they want. If it is a pleasant evening, the outdoor dining is very nice, with views of trees and Abingdon Square Park. Keep this place on your high priority list when you are in the Village. read more

Bright and open restaurant with a nicely varied menu and pretty good food. Love the spinach pie, when they haven't run out of it. Only complaint is the service. With almost uncanny uniformity they seem to resent having to deal with customers. This has been true for years. Even the woman who takes phone orders for delivery gives an attitude like she wishes you'd leave her alone. Point out that a previous order wasn't right and you get silence. read more

The French onion soup here is not just the best of its kind I've had, its hands down THE best of any soup I've ever eaten, certifiably. they took an incredible long time to come to us, get us our waters, food, check etc. after we waited 30 min for our waiter / check, we were given the wrong check and had to wait another 15 minutes. we asked to split the bill and they came back and handed us the bill & instead of splitting it they charged both my friend and i double the price somehow. extremely crowded, unorganized and the food is not worth all of that. read more

I eat here quite often and it has really grown on me. Very good but basic breakfast in a cozy space.

My girlfriend and I love this place. They make great breakfasts and salads and we're also smitten, but try not to be too often, with their milkshakes. Our current favorite is their greek yogurt with strawberries, blueberries walnuts and honey! A small cozy place, where you are not rushed, if you want to linger and talk and sip coffee after your meal. We sit outside sometimes as well. It's on a protected corner, right by the bus stop. Very popular with the locals, many of whom are artists and celebrities. Many retired couples who hold hands while they eat their dinner. A charming place, where everyone is made to feel at home with excellent service and food. read more
