No nonsense diner; both our chicken paninis (one pesto, one breaded) had tender meat and great sauce. Also, the potato salad side? Insane. Our waiter was very quick as well and we left full! Did I mention how good the malt milkshakes are?

5 stars on a diner scale - not a fine dining scale. Deciding between Washington Square Park Diner and here is no contest. Excellent location at the crossroads of Greenwich Village and West Village. Seating options range from 2 seaters to a big dining spot for 8. Tables turn over quickly and the wait was short. I'm a tuna melt connoisseur and have 0 notes. The coffee was also top notch. Served (as it should be) in a small ceramic cup with many refills. Price was $

Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Reasonable prices and great food for all types of eaters ( including Vegan or Vegetarian). Great attentiveness from the staff. Nice and clean. A Hugh variety of menu selections.

I came here for dinner on a Sunday night. I ordered two eggs any style (I opted for over easy), which came with toast and home fries. Solid food, but a bit expensive. Overall, I thought this was a pretty classic American diner.

Feels so cozy inside! Waverly Diner has a classic American diner feel, although the prices are a bit high. I liked the spinach omelette, but the hash brows on the side were just okay. I really enjoyed the buttered toast they gave on the side. The seating feels cozy, and the staff are warm and friendly.

A very normal diner in NYC. Good location between west village and Greenwich village. Came around 4pm on a Sunday and it actually had a decent crowd. The waverly melt was good with the onions but the fries were very mid. The Reuben was also open faced which was unexpected (and not exactly what we wanted). Also had the chocolate chip pancakes -- recommend the top pancake as it had the most chocolate chips on it. Overall, nothing amazing but nothing bad. Massive menu.

I was staying in the West Village. This diner and the Washington Square Diner were both nearby. I visited this one for a quick late lunch because it's right above the W. 4th St. Metro stop. The menu is quite extensive and I think anything can be ordered at any time. After looking through the entire menu, I opted for a Western omelette with hash browns and wheat toast, and a "fresh homemade" lemonade. The omelette and potatoes were served in a skillet, but I don't think they were prepared in it. The omelette was more done than I like, and the hash browns not as crisp as I like, but they were fine. as was the lemonade. There were a lot of other interesting things on the menu, and their dessert selection looked very good. Great spot for a quick bite, or if you can't get into one of the West Village's hundreds of hot, pricey restaurants.

It is good for post-bar drunken food. It's kinda a grimy place doesn't feel like it's had a proper clean in a longggg time. Service was quick and attentive. The waverly melt was very good, just like a patty melt. The fries were OK, lacked a bit of salt.

Ahhhh... it just feels like home. Stopped in with a friend for rice pudding and apple pie (see below). HEAVEN! Good coffee. Good service with a classic diner interior (and don't forget that classic neon sign). I need to expound on the apple pie a moment. No shade to the rice pudding (some of the best in the city), but that apple pie... it's... well, it's close to perfect. I don't like sweet and this pie is not too sweet. It's not not sweet, it's just kind of the perfect level of sweet. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to get it again, as the memory of that pie is almost as good as a forkful.

We always try to find a good diner for any trip we take. We stumbled upon this place after a long stroll after we got our early morning coffee and thought - now this is a diner! Right when you walk in, you know this place is packed with locals and regulars. Everyone knows each other and the staff is extremely friendly. We ordered the corned beef and hash along with some sweet waffles. Both were absolutely AMAZING! We ate well and recipes before our next long walk ahead of us. Great breakfast spot!

There is currently construction and scaffolding in front of the place, but you'll see signage where to go at the opening of the scaffolding. We walked in, past the bar and checked in. We were seated within 5 minutes. I ordered a bourbon old-fashioned and we ordered crab rangoon as a starter. There were a lot of them and the sweet chili sauce was great. For my entree, I ordered the vodka rigatoni and a side of buttered broccoli. The vodka rigatoni was really good - liked the flavor and a decent size of pasta. The broccoli was really good for some reason to me. Also tried the truffle mac and cheese which was incredibly rich and tasted great. As a dessert, we had the chocolate pie which was dense, rich, and topped with a huge dollop of whipped topping. I really liked the atmosphere of the place, loud roaring 20s style with jazz playing. Plus I kept finding myself checking out the mural on the wall. Try it for yourself - but worth the fight to get a table.

Did an earlier dinner on a Saturday with a friend at the bar. We got some similar items, some different. The thing I kept the same was my martinis and all three (sour cream and onion, tomato, and espresso) were just as amazing as ever. Food-wise, I stuck mainly to the classics with one new dish: - Pizza rolls: Very good but 3 pizza rolls for $20 felt small to me. I feel like I remember seeing others served more when I've gone in the past, but not completely sure. They're nostalgic and fun, nothing to die for. - Fries: Great as ever, we opted for just one of the sauces (avocado dill). - French Dip: This used to be cut in 3 pieces and now it's 2. Works well with a duo but I do think it's actually a little smaller now than before when I compare photos. - Samoa sundae: Still amazing, still so so worth. It was fun going with a friend who hadn't been before and seeing the joy upon trying the dish! Bar service is friendly as always and they do a decent job moving you along to ensure the necessary turnover without feeling too rushed.

Disclosure: My rating is based on the walk-in experience. The Corner Store doesn't offer…read morereservations for solo diners, reservations are notoriously difficult to get, and I waited about three hours in line for a seat. The Corner Store delivers genuinely excellent food at prices that feel refreshingly reasonable for New York City. My biggest criticism is that the restaurant can be overly particular about things that don't meaningfully improve hospitality or the guest experience. For example, I wasn't allowed to order a salad to go because of presentation standards and instead had to order it for dine-in before having it boxed up. The same mentality seemed to apply to the matchbooks, which were treated like prized collectibles despite being fairly standard restaurant matchbooks. The service was attentive and professional throughout, but great hospitality should make things easier for guests, not ask guests to accommodate the restaurant's preferences. One thing prospective walk-ins should know is that there is a significant difference between the walk-in and reservation experiences. Walk-ins are seated in the front bar area, which was much brighter and less moody than the spaces that made the restaurant famous online. The main dining room looked considerably more atmospheric and visually impressive, while the bar felt more like a standard upscale restaurant bar. After waiting three hours, it was hard not to feel like I was getting a different version of the experience than the one most people see on social media. The food was very good, but not so unique that it justified all the fuss. I'd rate it an 8/10 with a reservation and closer to a 6/10 as a walk-in.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
