Was able to just jump into the place on a late Saturday night. Not too far from other places of interest if you want to come. Parking is best found in the surrounding neighborhoods. When I came here I also noticed that this place is quite big so its good for big group celebrations. Attitudes of the bartenders could improve. The selection of beer here is limited. I went here today to watch the Packer game. My friends and I walked over from Moms bar at half time (my boyfriend wanted to watch the Chargers game, and Moms was only playing the Packers). Upon arrival I noticed that there were so many rooms! It was never ending! The bar was in the front to the right, but then there were two rooms full of tables and booths (both had available seating, which was surprising since it was football Sunday). There was one room with people playing beer pong, and another with arcade games. How fun is that! The atmosphere was so cool. Lots of interior brick, and one room had patterned velvet on the walls. The well drinks were $7, which I would say is average for Santa Monica. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip ($9) and I loved it! The chips were thin and the dip was heavy on the artichoke, which is how it should be. We also ordered the 12 piece hot wings ($12). They were sooo delicious. Not too greasy with a perfect amount of spice. They didn't give us enough ranch, so I would suggest asking for more. We ordered the chili cheese fries ($6) and I would probably pass on them next time. There wasn't enough chili and cheese to cover the fries, and although I appreciate the thick cut of the fries, I thought they were pretty "blah" tasting. Nice sportsbar for UFC with new TVs. However the TVs on the bar side are too small. The big projector screens are old and the color washes out making it unwatchable. The bathroom floors were flooded with a leaking toilet. Its dangerous walking on slippery wet tile floors. They should replace that tile with modern flooring systems that other bars have adopted. Was decent. They have an okay menu for beer and their food is typical although they do have things like lamb burgers so I got one as not everywhere has it . The burger was okay. Funny enough the top of the bun was my fav part of it. It had arugula which I love and some other toppings which complimented the lamb burger. We came on NFL Sunday and it wasn't as packed as I thought although we had a table and I didn't explore the whole venue which is actually quite large. I believe the first game they were realllllyyyyy busy (I know nothing about sports but whatever game played earlier in the day my friends said the place was way busier). This would have been 4 stars but two people in our party got the wrong style wings. One of them sent them back for the right ones and they again brought out wrong flavored ones. We did not complain or say anything again because we already sent it back and we are all easy going. Yesterday my girlfriend called multiple bars asking if they'd be showing the Wilder vs Fury fight tonight. Busby's said no cover, which my girlfriend found surprising, considering the first few bars she'd called all said it'd be a $20 cover. My girlfriend found this surprising enough to make a point of confirming that she really did hear right, and got that confirmation. Then we showed up tonight and they were charging a $10 cover. This already smelled like a bait and switch to me, where they're betting on people coughing up the $10 because they're already there. The manager gets called out by the door guy with a message of "someone has a complaint". My girlfriend starts by asking if she spoke with him yesterday and the manager says he was the only one picking up the phone during the time she called. Then my girlfriend explained what happened regarding being told there'd be no cover charge and he suddenly switches to saying my girlfriend must have spoken with someone else. Sure seems pretty clear to me what happened here. We would have paid the $10 since it's a good deal compared to $20 everywhere else, but not after being lied to once on the phone about no cover and then once again to our faces about what was said during the phone conversation. read more

Thursday night last night was pretty lame. There were not nearly enough people, the DJ trainwrecked many times, the massive visualization TV screens were so bright we had to dance in a well lit room (awkward), $9 for a whiskey and coke on the weak side, and at least 2 very aggressive creeps who relentlessly tried to hit on the female friends I came with. But it gets 3 stars because the first time I went there it was packed with the right amount of people, and there are games to play, which I didn't take advantage of but it still makes the club cool IMO. I can't remember what night of the week that was. The newer Busby's in Hollywood, other the other hand, is much bigger, has a much better DJ, and is therefore more fun. I haven't been there on a Thursday night but I highly recommend it on Friday nights and it's not quite as good on Saturday nights but still pretty fun. I heard this was a cheap place frequented by a college crowd, and that's exactly what I found. The drinks are super weak and not mixed very well. The food was even worse- the "loaded" tots consisted of tater tots with some gooey cheese sauce and a scoop of sour cream. I came to Busby's as I often do to watch some sports this weekend. Since it was slow, I could overhear the manager cussing out his employees for "not wearing their ties." A direct quote: "If you guys don't wear your ties, I'm the one who gets f***cking written up!" He proceeded to get angrier and redder in the face every time he saw an employee without a tie on, and continued to cuss loudly in front of paying customers. I actually don't care about this as I curse like a sailor; it's hard not see the irony in someone excoriating their employees for "professionalism" whilst audibly screaming in front of customers. I'd like to point out to ownership/management that quite literally no one cares if servers at a sports bar wear ties. Seriously. I surveyed 15 people at the bar that night, and not a single one gave an ounce of a crap about this subject. The way the manager spoke to his employees tells me a lot about him as a person. I joined a group of about 10 people for the happy hour at Busby's . The good side is the happy hour goes from 4 o'clock to 8 o'clock. Most of the dishes for happy hour are small including the tacos and the sliders. But one thing that I noticed was that the pizza was quite a nice size pizza for only six dollars and I believe it came with tomato and Onions. The good tap beers are only five dollars so the bottom line is you can have a complete meal with a beer for about $20 plus tip. Definitely worth giving them a try. Too bad it left a mark on my shirt cuz i forgot it's long sleeved. So anyways me and my bros piled into my BMW 328 and we roll up to Busby's. There was a long line in front, which was reassuring. After waiting in line for ONLY 45 minutes, I found that there weren't that many people inside. Which is cool I guess. Oh and I must say, the ambiance was pretty DOPE. Then I started grinding with this chick on the teeny tiny dance floor (they ROPE IT OFF!!! YESS!!!! Only in LA, will you witness a bar fight between two drunk gay guys and two Persians (who were sadly mistaken as Parisians) fight over a friendly game of bar pool. Dialogue during game that leads to all hell breaking loose: Gay guy #1: "Go ahead and take that easy pussy shot" Persian #1: "Fuck you, did you just call me a Pussy?" Gay Guy #2: "Yeah, he called you a pussy, Fuck France!!! Fuck your French ass!!!" Persian # 2: "So what about the French? Fuck you, we are from Iran. We are not Parisians. We are Persians. I will kick your ass right now" I attempt to break up the fight as team gay charges at team Persia. This one almost came to blows, but was prevented by my stern voice of diplomacy. More like I had to physically separate the two before shit settled down. It was one of those moments when I wished Jules Winnfield (played by Samuel L. Jackson) in Tarantino's Pulp Fiction would just show up with a loaded revolver and start screaming: "BE COOL!!! TELL THAT BITCH TO BE COOL!!! SAY WHAT AGAIN MOTHERFUCKER!!! " Fighting at bars is stupid, especially over name-calling and mistaken nationalities. People go to bars to drink, make merry, celebrate, and remind themselves that they are not at work. Not to fight over petty meaningless things such as a pool game. On top of the useless fight that I encountered, I ordered my usual double Jameson on the rocks and the first bartender charged me $15. On the second time around I ordered another from a different bartender who decides to charge me $20 for the exact same drink. As I close my tab, it comes out to be $35 for two doubles. Too drunk to care and just wanted to get the fuck out of this place. As I walk out of the bar, there were several grown ass men vomiting on the streets and in the valet area. It reminded me of people coming to a bar for the first time. Of course this is not the case. Perhaps I'm just getting old (I am only 25) and have expectations for bar experiences. Yesterday was my sister's birthday. We ended up at Busby's, and within five minutes of walking through the door, a waitress carrying a tray with two drinks on it got pushed or something and spilled it ALL over my sister's dress, legs and shoes. It also got on me and one of our other friends. I understand that sometimes that happens, but honestly the waitress didn't even apologize. We were all kind of shocked, and were like "Oh no!" when it splashed us, and all she said was "That's not my fault." and walked away angrily, shaking her head as if we were just another bunch of belligerent idiots. I hadn't had anything to drink that night, and neither had most of us. I'm not kidding, we were literally SOAKED. So I go find her again and explain that it's my sister's birthday and now her shoes are all sticky and her new dress is stained (AND she just got an expensive spray tan which was now dripping down her legs), and I asked if there was anything she could do to help us out. I was not being threatening or rude at all, even though I had every right to be after her total dismissal of our situation. She replied with "No, that wasn't my fault. We don't give out free stuff here anyway." So she storms off again in her own little world, and as she passed I said "Wow, okay, what a b****," and I didn't even think she heard it because she walked away so fast. She came back just as fast though and said "If you want to call me that, then I can go get a bouncer and have him kick you out." I literally just laughed and said okay, go ahead. Five minutes later, the bouncer comes up and starts questioning us. I explained the situation to him, he whips out his flashlight and sees that A) no we are not being rowdy, and B) yes our legs our soaking wet with beer. So he gives us a "warning" and that's fine because he's just doing his job. However, in no way, shape or form was the waitress' behavior justified. I understand that the spill was not INTENTIONAL, but yes it was still her fault and she totally ruined my sister's birthday night. All we wanted was an apology, or at least an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT of how sucky the situation was. Most other places would probably offer up a free round or something if they made a mistake like that, despite whoever's fault it was. Not at Busby's. We all had sticky feet for the rest of the night. This place is not worth your time, I will literally never go here again and I will make sure to tell all my friends not to either. The other problem with the clientele is there were also parts of the place that didn't fill up, so the ambiance was off. Drinks were the most pedestrian and average liquids I've ever swallowed.
