I visited Busby's West last night (Monday Aug 27th) with a group of friends, and unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. Our waitress, Lolita, seemed disinterested and rude for no reason, from the start. When we got there we were sitting outside and planning to order from the bar, but saw there was a waitress inside, so we asked her if we should order through her or the bar and she said her and that she'd come outside in a minute. First, she forgot my friend's drink and then insisted she had already brought it. After realizing her mistake, she eventually brought the drink but charged us for two instead of one. Things didn't get better from there. She got our pizza order wrong and didn't bring out any plates or silverware when we asked. We had to get them ourselves. So I went inside and asked a man who worked there if I could get some plates etc., which he happily got for me, and when she saw me doing that, she rolled her eyes at me. Throughout our meal, she never came back to check if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. We had a large group of 12 adults coming from a book reading, so by no means were we acting obnoxious, half of our group are in their 60's. At this point, several of us wanted to order more drinks and food. When someone from our group finally went inside to ask if we could order more food, she informed us that the kitchen was closed and suggested we just close out our tab (it was about 10pm and the bar didn't close until around 1am). It would have been nice to know the kitchen was closing so we could've ordered more. Even then, when asked to come out and take drink orders, she said she would but never returned. We ended up going straight to the bar to order from the bartender, who was great and the only highlight of the night. To top it all off, she brought us the check without us asking for it, and there was already gratuity added to the bill. We would have gladly tipped more had she been a pleasant and attentive server. Unfortunately, this experience left a bad taste in our mouths, and we won't be returning to this bar and do not suggest it for your night out. read more

The first week of the regular season and this is a spot to check out for sure. I would of given three stars for the drinks but the service and free wings made it a four. Drinks: I was suuuuper disappointed by their michelada. Super plain, no Tajín...so bad I didn't even want to try their Bloody Mary. Food I'm a vegetarian, so I was excited to see that they had the impossible burger. It a bit pricey ($16), but willing to pay for it. I was disappointed to have the waitress come back and let me know they they were out of the impossible patty. I ended up having to get a side order of eggs and toast, which was mediocre. One of the reasons why I gave 4 stars is the fact that they give free wings during halftime. I don't eat them but my boyfriend definitely indulged, which I thought was awesome! Service this is a buffalo bills bar, and with that comes fans that want the whole bar to play the game. They have two den areas that have couches, chairs designated for fans that want to watch the bills. Our waitress was not only attentive to giving us drinks and food but also made sure the rams were still playing on the tv, since we had sat down long before the bills fan showed up. They do have street parking but beware this was on Sunday, where the parking is free. We got there around 8:45, even though the bar doesn't open up until 9. If you want a good seat, especially if you are not a buffalo bills fan, I recommend showing up early to find a tv with your team playing. read more

Went here to watch the Syracuse game. It is a huge bar with a lot of seating options. They do pitchers of beer and have a huge food menu. I had the chicken tenders and fries which were pretty standard. My friends had the carne asada fries which looked good, but they were also $19. They have a lot of tvs, even outside to watch the game. read more

After 10 years I'll never be going back... It's been one of my favorite sports bars in LA but the service I've experienced over the last 4 visits in 2 months has been so consistently awful and uncomfortable that it's just ruined the place for me despite some great memories there. It's my latest visit there that's left me quite appalled. My initial thought was maybe they're lacking enough employees (which I know a lot of places are) but over the last 2 visits they seemed to be fully staffed yet incredibly rude and apathetic to any questions/comments/concerns discussed with them. In particular, food order experiences here have been atrocious. From an order on a slow Sunday night taking 50+ mins and having to be reordered twice, to the wrong food on another and cold orders, I'm at a complete loss... Please do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for the game. Not sure if it's new management or hires but this place is NOT what it use to be. read more

I had a great time here for a Bills Game. I know nothing about football but I was in the mood for some ciders and bar food. I just ordered chicken strips and fries. It was average but the service was great. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very attentive. I arrived before the rush and there was definitely a line for drinks but they worked hard to get to everyone on a timely manner despite there being only one bartender. First off, the overall ambience was great. My friend and I came to watch the game and we were able to find a perfect table outside in front of the tv's. Our food/drink order was very good and came out in a timely manner. We came on a busy night, so it was hard to flag someone down after we finished our food. Everything we ordered was very delicious! Now for the con's and the reason why I rated 2 stars. I gave this review 2 stars because I did love the food and ambience. I was turned off by how poorly we were talked to, specifically from one the male food busser's that delivered our food. He came around to ask if we needed a box for my leftovers that I did not finish. I said, "yes please" and I had also asked him for more water. He came back and delivered the to-go box to me and immediately walked away. I was able to get his attention and ask, "Also could we please get more water?" Thinking maybe he had forgotten that I had asked him initially. He immediately responded by giving me attitude letting me know "someone is coming!" I was completely taken aback because I did not ask him in a rude way what so ever. Then he continues to walk away and say, "someone is coming, relax." I was so shocked how rude he responded to us. I've never been talked to like that from any restaurant staff. Clearly, he hates his job and doesn't want to be there. It was just so distasteful and I didn't appreciate it. If you live in Santa Monica, you are doing yourself a disservice not watching a game at Busby West. It's the perfect sports bar. There are an unnecessary amount of TVs but I'm not complaining. From the outside looking in, the building doesn't look like much but once you walk in it turns into the ultimate adult playground. There's a theatre in the back with a huge tv, pool tables & shuffleboard, and even arcade games. The "beer garden" they set up outside used to be a parking lot but it has turned into my favorite place to just hang out and catch a game. As for the service, all the waiters are really nice and helpful. The food took awhile to come out but it's not their fault. Can't blame the kitchen for taking a little longer if the whole place is packed, right? Understandable. The food here was also amazing. Their pork belly nachos are a great pick to have as finger food to pair with your beer. The menu was quite small but I know that covid makes it hard to have a big menu when reopening. They also have wings, slides, and various sandwiches which all were pretty good. I live only a 20 minute walk away and I think I've found my local sports bar that I will be coming to every Sunday to watch the games. I highly recommend Busby's and will be back! read more

I went to Busby's West for a game developers' meetup, and the bar was pretty packed. However, unlike a lot of other bars in the area, the bartenders were super. Even though there were lots of people ordering drinks, it was easy to get the bartenders' attention and get one for yourself. Really great service, and that's the most important thing at a bar for my taste. Also, if you're into arcade games, it seems like they have a lot of well maintained machines that are pretty new. People seemed to be having fun with a Pac-Man Battle Royale game that allowed up to 4 players. There are also pool tables in the back that aren't bad. It was 5 bucks for 3 games, which is a pretty fair price. The people there were really kind--being conscientious about other people's shots, not getting in people's way, taking turns. It was easy to find people to play with--I'll definitely play pool sometime again. A really great bar with a great atmosphere. Excited to try their food next time I swing by. read more

This is one of those situations where it's between a 3 and a 4. Went here to celebrate a friends graduation and it was PACKED on a Thursday night. We went during Happy Hour, then it died down around 9-10. There was supposed to be a DJ around 10 pm, however we left early. The service was a bit off but I think that's just because they were super busy. There were 20 of us and we were still able to find a big table and chairs to accommodate. Also, neighborhood parking is difficult with all the signs, but they have a tiny lot and a lot of meters! I got the Santa Monica XPA and the Steak Nachos. Both were so good! The nachos had everything on them and they did not skimp. Only $11 during HH! My boyfriend got the Chicken Strips & Fries and the Potato Skins. Again, decent portions! Came with 4 big pieces of strips for the strips and fries, and with 3 potato skins with chicken on top for the potato skins. If you come here, come for the HH deals! read more

One of my regular to go places. This time we ordered the spinach-artichoke dip ( could be a little bit more chopped), and the vegetarian hummus plate, which both was delicious. The only thing is try to avoid soccer game nights, because then it's a madhouse, soo many people and not enough servers. But during the week it's a very nice, oldschool place to grab some drinks and good bar food. Plus the place is huge, so everyone could find a spot for their taste. BUSBY'S WEST is a unique sports bar with multiple rooms for private parties and games for the enthusiast of sorts. It reminds me of Buster's which is a chain of sports and entertainment bars in Florida and Georgia. I was their for a political "watch party" and we had a section for about 25 and the menu was sandwiches, appetizers, burgers and an array of wines and beers. The help is efficient and I had 1 Arnold Palmer and 1 Turkey Club with no cheese and fries. The sandwich was great! This is a great place for watching sports and probably a great place to visit for pro and college football (someone told me it was a Bills bar which is a non-starter for me as a Jets fan)! They have a solid menu with good help and if closer to me, I would consider more frequently. The problem with the place is that it's a maze of rooms and there were multiple events all taking place at the same time. I came here on April 2, 2025 and had the worst experience I've ever had inside of a bar. I ordered a Shirley Temple for my girlfriend, then came back 10 minutes later and ordered nachos and a shot and the bartender refused to even look at my ID and continued to threaten me and "get weird outside" all because he assumed that my ID was fake all because I look like a teenager and ordered a Shirley Temple. It was completely disrespectful, especially considering that I am a 22 year old man that has his California real ID.... yeah I'll never be coming back here and I've told all my friends to not come here anymore. This used to be my favorite place and that's so sad because my dad even used to go here. I would also like to add that he also refused to serve me food because of my "attitude" when he's the one that literally refuses to look at my real ID and continues to be extremely disrespectful all because I look young. I came out here for my brother's pre-wedding party (not a bachelor party) and the food and experience was really fun! The games in the back were enjoyable and really breaks up that whole dive vibe of this restaurant. Getting the chicken and waffles was a smart move. For $12 you certainly get good value of both worlds. My sister's friend got an avocado shrimp salad where they literally put a whole avocado into her salad! The drinks are rather expensive, but I guess that is Los Angeles for you, maybe even California. But I loved the games. It harkened back to my days on the Jersey Shore and Coney Island with Skee Ball, Air Hockey, some Foosball, and a basketball shooting game. Nothing wrong with a little fun to add to your meal! Teresa, who may not be the manager or running the place but should be and certainly will be real soon, greeted us that day and has been serving my friends and me ever since. Her services are fantastic. She is on top of everything even during the hustle and bustle of a packed bar on game night. She is really friendly, funny and thoughtful. She always remembers the names of the different friends and groups I bring with me. She always makes us feel special. This bar is for the young folks... 29 and under. And for that crowd, there's a lot of TVs, games, tables, food and happy hour specials, drink options, and places to sit. The beers on tap differ at every bar, so good to explore your options. The food is your typical fried and salty variety, but it's very good. I like the chicken fingers, fries, and tots. If you're a little older... it's loud! And that's not always bad, but also note that the median age in here is early twenties. I was here early in the night before it got shoulder to shoulder and it was manageable for about 2 hours max. Talking to a few of my co-workers (in their early twenties), they reminisce of college days past, where this was a common meetup. We came here to bid farewell to a young co-worker moving to a new agency. If you haven't been here and you're under 30, you'll love it. If you're over 30, you'll love it for a cheap snack and a drink or two before the crowd gets rowdy. I don't think I'll be back, but I do think you should check it out! read more

I have been to Busby's a few times now, and I have to say I've had mixed experiences. On my late night weekends here, I haven't had the best time. I'd been going with a smaller group of friends, but I think it may be a better vibe with a larger group. I would not advise going there to meet new people. Drinks are standard. I did, on the other hand, enjoy my happy hour there! We sat on the outside patio, which was a perfect way to enjoy a sunny Santa Monica afternoon. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered the spicy margarita which was excellent. We also got truffle Parmesan fries and the chicken and waffles plate from the happy hour menu. The fries were good- very soft, which I sometimes prefer, and the truffle flavor was a perfect strength. The chicken and waffles were good as well; the waffles had a great toasty flavor and the chicken was crispy but tasty. Would happy hour again!! read more

Hot damn... If you're worried to semi-worried about Covid, run. This spot isn't the place for you... Social distancing? Masks? What's that? Tables are super small here, so they frequently split parties up. People end up running across and around the place like an adult playground looking for Coco and Rona. Yikes, not today. The security guards should also let guests know to wear a mask while standing in line to enter. I looked to the security guard for some guidance, and there he was smoking a vape with his mask on his chin *face palm*. Came out of my cave and going right back in. This place is unique. Went here for a viewing party for the soccer game. They have theater type seating in one area which was kind of cool. Definitely unique they have plenty of tvs so great sports bar. I saw multiple activities from pool, arcade and much more. Atmosphere was nice and not too loud.. that is until the USA scored:) but definitely a place where you can carry on a conversation without it being too loud. I really want to like Busby's, and it has been our go to sports bar for the last 10+ years. But recent changes are pretty sour (menu & service) and we probably won't come back until we hear about some changes. Specific problems are a very stripped-down menu which lost sweet potato fries, good salads, street tacos, pizza and other favorites. The beer menu is also week with Michelob ultra and racer 5 IPA disappearing. But the biggest problem is service. I know restaurants are challenged with staff these days, but we are sitting at our table right now waiting for food, which we ordered more than an hour ago. Just some wings and a Cubano sandwich?? It is a fun place with a lot of nice screens and a cool vibe, but the service and menu both really need to be fixed before we feel like coming back. Bigg Mike - help us!! read more
