I went for lunch with a friend. The place is very small, but has 10 tabletops for 2 to 4 people. Plus it had a steady stream of takeout orders. The fish was fresh and cooked crispy on the outside. The waitress, one for all 10 tables, was very friendly and efficient. The chef/cook served our food and was pleasant as well. After a nice morning outing at Aiken Farmers Market, I did a GPS search of seafood places in Aiken. Hands down... I chose the right place!! If you haven't heard of Bush's Seafood, you need to check them out while in Aiken/Graniteville! This is a very nice, quaint and professional Family owned business that I would like to see stay open for years to come. We were treated just the same as if we'd walked in to Frog Hollow, Cork & Flame or Abel Brown! The place is quaint, clean and beautiful on the inside. The food was AMAZING! Their food is really good. I had Tilapia, yams and rice with gravy. It also included hush puppies. I don't normally eat or like hush puppies but theirs are good. My mom and daughter had catfish which they said was good. (Watch out for those bones.) The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the rice and gravy. The gravy is very plain and has very little flavor. I just say it's been a while since coming here and a very good mom N pop style feel. My whitting was co ok k to perfectly and the breading did not over ride the fish The side I had was potato salad and it was great. So I didn't actually order shrimp, I ordered double scallops. But they forgot my oysters and kept the shrimp. No worries, they dropped me some fresh oysters! ¡Gracias! My eyes were bigger than my stomach! I ordered the okra and turnip greens as my sides. I couldn't finish my meal, so I got a to-go box. This is my go to seafood spot in the CSRA. I love this place! They embody everything that makes a family-owned, southern, restaurant. I always get the whiting or flounder plate, and it does not ever disappoint! A nondescript light blue Bldg with a small sign posted halfway down edge of Bldg. Gravel parking area. I drove past several times... Walking in and noticing very open and Divey. Storage is used in the outer spaces. Seating for over 50. Community setup style tables. I found ironic our server doesn't eat fish or anything from this place. Couldn't describe fishes to you. So you better look in menu and do your homework. I like the 3 piece for $8. Chose catfish, bream and croaker(type of perch). The bream was my favorite being meaty and moist. Takes a certain eater to sea with bone in fish. Also has grits with brown gravy and potato salad. All were tasty. The old man liked and would want to come back! That's a good sign. Check your bill. Great food from a lil' mom n pop place! This is my 2nd time trying this place and it's still my go-to for REAL SOUTHERN STYLE seafood. First time there, the boyfriend bought me a whiting plate which came with hush puppies and fries. The fish was cooked and seasoned PERFECTLY...AND NOT SALTY!! most places that sell fried seafood tend to over-salt their food but not Bush's! The hushpuppies have a lovely sweet which I think compliments the fiish and fries. As far as the fries go, they were just standard fries-Nothing special. Today, I had the 45 piece mini shrimp for 10.26 (that's tax included) dinner which came with fries, pups, and slaw. You all know about the fries and pups so let's go straight to the shrimp! The shrimp were deeelish! Small 'lil bites from heaven! Battered nicely and not too salty. The slaw I gave to the boyfriend because I don't like slaw. I highly suggest calling ahead because there's always about a 30min wait-but it's worth it! I also suggest carry -out because the place is very small and if u dine-in, you'll be sitting cafeteria style in a close vicinity of people while you eat (I just like my space while I eat ijs!) I called ahead and ordered the 2 piece fried catfish dinner with turnip greens and coleslaw. . . Well I picked it up, and smelled the fried goodness all the way home. Then came the big reveal, I open the box and it isn't my food!! Yikes! But I was hungry and ate it anyways. I have no idea what type of fish it was, but it was good. The fries were just regular. The coleslaw was ok, but a little sweet for my taste. The hush puppies were oh my goodness amazing! I could eat a whole box of those! Other than my mother's fried fish, this is the best fish that I have had. I got 5 pieces of fish (You pick which fish you want..3 croacker, 2 brihm) , hushpuppies, grits, and an Arnold Palmer...... For cheaper than 10 dollars... cooked to perfection. My mom is picky, and she barely talked as she ate. She said she got the best fried oysters she's had in her life. All I can say is...awesome soul food and seafood!! Loved the Bream and Catfish. Hush puppies were amazing also. Excellent deserts. Service was not so good. The guy taking the orders and who greet you at the door (when he felt like getting up off his behind) had a nonchalant attitude. The one waitress, however, was very nice. The restaurant is a good ole fashioned hole in the wall. Not expensive and well worth the visit. I highly recommend this place for excellent southern fried seafood in the Aiken South Carolina area.
