Spider in corner above booth
Bill S.

Ok, I'm new to the area and driven past this place many times. Today, we decided to give it a try, as it's always busy. I don't think the decors been changed in years. There's dust on everything that's above arms length to reach. In our booth, I got to look at a spiderweb in the corner with small spider watching over me. To top it off, 15 minutes after eating, I had a dumb and dumber incident having to run to bathroom. Thank goodness I lived close by.

Buffet - Great Fried Chicken

Small Country Diner about halfway between Mooresville and Lincolnton on NC Hwy 150. A local favorite for good reason. Food is great and prices are right although they just had to go up of the buffet because of increasing food costs. We have been probably three or four times now and it's always good. Might have to wait in line to get seated around lunch time but the line moves quickly. The buffet is great with a good variety of Southern Comfort foods including Chicken Pot Pie, Salisbury Steaks, Wings etc. Time before last, I had the Chicken Liver Special and it was good although just a bit overcooked. You can order off the menu and they have a great selection there if nothing appeals to you off of the menu. We normally visit on Sunday and time our visit to be around 11am to get the Lunch Buffet and just ahead of the Lunch time crowd. They have Seafood All You Can Eat Buffets twice a week and have not made it to them yet but on my radar

This rating is 100% based on food taste and the service. Our family of 4 tried a little bit of everything: pancakes, waffles, cheese grits, biscuits and gravy, bacon, country ham, hash browns, and sausage links. Everything was delicious! If I based my rating on how the place looks, it would be a 1. We almost didn't go in...but we are glad we did! This place has true Southern cooking and hospitality. If you're a Tarheel fan you will definitely appreciate the decor.

First time coming and absolutely loved it... it's just a great southern restaurant. I've heard people talk about the buffet, so I decided tonight to try the seafood buffet. It had everything you could imagine on it, country fried steak, mashed potatoes, greens, slaws, all type of fish, fried oysters devil crab, etc, all very good for 17. Plus they had a salad bar and all kinds of dessert.

Visiting from Los Angeles, in the Denver, NC., area for 2 weeks. Today (January 28, 2023) gave them a try. Absolutely delicious! Had a ham and cheese omelette, bagel, and a blueberry pancake. A+ tasty. Tried a lot of the surrounding restaurants for breakfast (Stacy's, Westlake, Citrus, The Hen & Egg). How I wish I came here first. From now on this is my breakfast restaurant. I ordered off the menu but they also have a buffet that looked pretty good! Give them a try, you will be glad you did!

To put it plainly, our breakfast for 4 was so big, they had us move tables. Butcher Boy's Café is a local, no-nonsense restaurant for just really good breakfast (and maybe lunch and dinner too). We were staying on Lake Norman and both Yelp and our family recommended BBC and we do not regret it. If you're from Florida like we are, you probably have never heard of "liver mush" or "scrapple". I have no words to say other than to TRY IT. It's basically a liver hash and it is SO tasty. Their waffles are huge and crispy. Their sausage LINKS are scrumptious - I would stay away from the patties. They're ok but the sausage links are where it's at. Friendly service and there's a buffet. Breakfast buffet is over at 11, but you can still order it to be made at any time.

Very few items on buffet. Two types of gravy but no toast or biscuits. Very country and old.

Not impressed at all. The kitchen could use better ventilation, the dining room smells.

Food just so-so. The buffet is often empty or dried out. Could be our timing, who knows.

Well, as soon as I hit the door, I can tell they changed a few things....decor-wise. The area near the entryway wasn't bad...if anything, a bit better? However, the buffet area was way worse. I'd definitely say downscaled. There was absolutely no vibe to the place. Despite the lofty size, it was dead silence. No overhead music...and not many diners either (on a New Year's Eve). In fact, I don't ever recall this place being so quiet. The buffet foods were also downscaled. The foods all just looked so bad...as in TV dinner quality? Some of it didn't even look fresh? In fact, I'm worried about the sushi that I had. They were some of the worst sushi I've ever had...as in EVER HAD!!! Also, they didn't even have some of the items I used to enjoy...liked steamed buns (or maybe I just didn't catch it??). Good thing that they kept the pricing reasonable...about $19 per person? Although I don't recall being blown away by the quality in the past (especially in the past decade), the foods were MUCH better in quality the last time we were here (2020?). It's truly sad because when this place first opened way back when, it was really good. However, with the change of management over the years from Jade to Ginza, things kept dipping downward. Both my husband and son agreed on just how bad everything was this time...and we also agreed that this is probably the last time we'll come here.

We visited this week, as it is their grand opening and it was so refreshing to see how amazing it looks inside, and taste the amazing food! They have a full buffet bar of amazing food, a sushi bar, all of the great things you'd expect on a Chinese buffet, and one line dedicated to deserts. What a great selection! The new colors inside and the lighting make the place look so much better than the last place here. And the staff is so friendly and helpful - everyone smiling and offering to help! We were late to show up tonight, and it was nearly 9pm. Even with them closing at 930, the food was fresh and hot and delicious. That was awesome! I'm so glad they are open! We will be visiting this place a lot! If you're in this area, this is a must stop for you! Check it out.... You won't be disappointed!

So, I…read morewill be close enough to stop by there after the doctor's appointment to hopefully get a container of noodles with broth to bring home for my dinner. Until recently, I was a regular at the buffet, my favorite buffet in the Charlotte area. However, lately I have been suffering from gout, so it makes no sense for me to go there. The broth for their seafood soup is fantastic, and I could certainly just have broth and noodles, so I decided to call there to see how much their big soup container of just broth and noodles would be. I've been surviving on food stamps and have to be very careful with my cash. The first call, the woman who answered the phone did not know what the cost would be and asked me to call back in 5 minutes, which I did. I explained that I only wanted broth and noodles, no seafood, no meat, no veggies. I was told that it would be $2.75, which I thought was fair, and so I went there and bought exactly that for $2.75, and it was very good! So, yesterday, Monday 10/20/25, I was close to the buffet again and decided to get another broth and noodles for $2.75. I get the same thing again, it is the same cashier as last Friday. She puts the soup in a bag and ties it up, and then attempts to charge me $4.98!!! WTF? I said no, you charged me $2.75 for the same thing three days before. It is ONLY broth and noodles. She had a "take it or leave it" attitude about it, and I left the soup there and left the building, maybe to never return again after that experience. And it was there lost because they aren't going to separate the broth from the noodles and put it back in the pot, so it was wasted. What a shame! I got home and had an avocado for dinner last night.

Food was not fresh, like old reheated food. Place was run down. Staff was friendly.read more
