I made a road trip to Spring Lake to visit a friend and pick up lunch. Butch's is a gem. It's a small walk up and order restaurant with a friendly staff. The menu is mostly Mexican with fun hot dogs! I ordered the beef and bean deluxe burrito which is huge! It comes with lettuce tomatoes black olives and peppers. I ordered sour cream and salsa on the side which comes with it. I ordered a new item, chicken enchiladas with rice and beans for my friend. She loved them! The food is fresh and generous in size with very affordable prices. Spring Lake doesn't have too many fast lunch options. The usual suspects: McD's, Subway and Arby's. So I wanted something different. I've been at the GH location in the past, but this is my first visit to the Shell Station (next door) location. I ordered "The Original Beef & Bean" Came to a bit north of $10 with tax. To be honest, it was OK, nothing spectacular to say about it. It wasn't very spicy, the meat portion was small and it had some lettuce. Glad I went, but not in a hurry to go back. Been going here since it opened in grand haven. As the name suggests, they're not trying to be authentic, just great flavor on old school very thin tortillas. I head for the channel location in summer, but never fail to hit this location in my the winter. Yum!! read more

I dropped into the Spring Lake location for lunch as I occasionally do. I ordered and paid for my usual then forgot that I wanted to try the Friday Seafood burrito. When I asked the clerk what was in one he told me then asked if I wanted one. I could already see they were making my beef burrito and didn't want them to throw it away and start over. I said "my mistake, I'll just order one the next time I drop in on a Friday". Without missing a beat, they made a seafood taco made just like I had ordered the beef burrito so I could try it. They refused payment and just included it for free! What great customer service! If you want fast, decent food at a reasonable price coupled with great service, this is the place to go! Haven't had anything from here in awhile and after today I realize why. While this place is a cute little place and affordable the day to day fare is very basic and nothing that really excites the palette. I specifically say day to day referring to the standard menu items because there are a few weekday special items that look a hair more interesting. Their tortilla shells that are used for tacos and burritos are the most basic. The salsa was ok but again nothing inspiring. So if your looking for cheap basic eats not a bad place. If your looking for something better for the calories you consume then your much better off at Prueblo nearby which sadly is closed Sun and Mon or Righteous Cuisine which I think is also closed Sunday. (Why I ended up here) Cute little place and maybe it's unfair of me to expect much of a place attached to a gas station. So it is what it is. read more

Food tastes very good. The amount of meat is disappointing. Suggest they offer a additional meat portion for a fee.

I went on my lunch break to get a burrito the sign says 11-4 m- F I got there 10:57 and waited til 11:10 when they still would not open the door. Employees saw me waiting outside but still would not open the door even 10 minutes after it was supposed to open. so much for my lunch time i had to go back to work with no food terrible customer service I do not recommend this place to anyone they would rather you stand in 90 degree weather than open the door for paying customers very poor customer service read more

Tasty, fast, and inexpensive! When I'm craving a tasty taco and don't feel like cooking, my hubs and I come here! Whether it's passing by and running errands or stopping by on a hot summer day, they make their food fast and to a T! The staff is very friendly and polite and the setting is cute and matches their name. I love the taste of the tacos and the shells are extraordinary! (They fold the tacos really cool too!) So good, but please note, this food is not traditional Mexican, but more quick, casual, "beachy", not a sit down and be waited on type of place. My only complaint is that once in a great while the food sticks to the paper or is wet (I think because they put the tortillas in a steam/heat thing to melt the cheese). Give them a try! There was a lack of flavor and seasoning. I didn't find this place to be unique. Location was the main benefit.

I ordered a soft chicken taco; it was not even warm; I ate it at the restaurant. Within 2-3 hours I started to get stomach cramping which turned into diarrhea. I had stomach cramping and bowel issues the rest of the day and all through the entire night. I woke up the next day and ended up going to ER. I was sent home with a stool test kit. I turned the kit in the next day and the test came back positive for food poisoning. Never again! Has taken three days to feel normal again. read more

First off, we were at the beach and we walked here for a quick stop lunch. It was all fine until we got the food. The lady was rude, and the food was low quality while it had a high quality price. We popped in after a long morning at the beach and YUM, it hit the spot!! Simple yet flavorful. Not greasy at all, which I loved. And their house-made salsa was just sweet enough (we got the mild). Definitely recommend! read more

Normally my most favorite little lunch spot on the lakeshore. Love the chips and cheese, cheese dogs and tacos/burritos. Tonight was just an EPIC fail. First burrito had bits of burned ground beef and the whole thing just tasted "off". They brought out a replacement burrito...it wreaked of burned meat smell AGAIN. I couldn't even take a bite without my stomach churning. Ended up just getting a hot dog at that point which staff was willing to make. What a let down from my fav joint. My brother and I were here earlier today between 6:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. As it was our turn in line to order, the main girl who was taking orders greeted my brother and completely and purposely ignored me. Not once did she even give me a friendly smile or anything during our order. I felt like I was wrongfully discriminated against. While my brother and I were off to the side waiting for our food, I was observing the girl's attitude towards other people and saw that she was acknowledging them without any problem. Not for me though. She was only courteous towards my brother and pretended I didn't exist. I will not be back here again unless friendlier staff are working and are equally friendly towards all customers without any discrimination. read more

I have to say, after reading so many good reviews and all the hype I was severely dissapointed by my visit. I ordered the burrito I wanted, Sorry we're out of that item. So I asked for the Guacamole that is advertised as made fresh daily on the door as we walked in.. Sorry we're out of that. This was in the middle of the week, we were there early before the dinner rush. I ended up ordering a taco salad to go, only to have no meat on it when i got home, just a container of lettuce and cheese. My husband enjoyed the burrito he ordered, but he might have just be glad they weren't out of tortillas too. read more

I'm bias when it comes to this place because I grew up eating it. My favorite is the chiwawa chili dog. It's a hot dog with beef, lettuce, cheese , and beans wrapped up in a tortilla shell. Of course I had the 3 alarm salsa (diced jalapenos, vinegar and probably some sugar) Yum. The rest of the menu is good. I have had the majority of their food. Their is no authenticity to it. It's their version of a home cooked mid western Michigan AMERICAN family's mexican dinner would be. read more
