As per usual, my reviews always start with service. Magnificent! Friendly. Welcomed us as soon as we walked in the door. And everyone said thank when we left. We visited this place while staying in Grand Haven for a bowling tournament. We wanted Mexican and chose Arturo's because they had a parking lot (the other place we found only had street parking.) Lot was small, but easy to enter and leave. Arturo's is quaint with not a lot of seating. Decorated well without being too showy. Very, VERY clean. We chose to carry out because we thought that with the small amount of seating, it would be cramped. However, they were so fast in delivering food to customers, we realized that we would have done well eating in. Now ... the food! Freaking amazing. Pimp and I had the pick 3 dinner specials. For $13 you get rice and beans and 3 main items (i.e. tacos, tamales, etc) I chose a taco, tamale, and quesadilla. Pimp had all tacos. The beans and rice were seasoned to perfection. After filling up on my beans, I barely had room for the rest. I used my fingers to scrape the last bit of the beans out of the container. LOL (I could have just settled with the beans and rice.) But I braved it and dug into my chicken taco. We both agreed that the chicken was very well seasoned, moist, but not soggy. It was a good amount of it on the tacos without being too much. We were so full after the beans, rice, and tacos, we had to take a break for a siesta. I still got a tamale, and quesadilla left and Pimp had two tacos. But if we finished, this review would not get written. Buen trabajo, Arturo's. Lo has hecho muy bien. We'll be back after bowling tomorrow to get some of those beans to take home. read more

This taco joint seems to be very popular with the locals. It's been in Grand Haven for quite some time. Got voted as favorite Mexican restaurant in the area year after year. It's a rather small place. A counter with maybe four seats and another 4 or 5 tables. I noticed some picnic tables outside too. Nothing fancy in this store. Some gratuitous Mexican nick knacks and some Hispanic music playing. You order at the counter, and if you can find a seat, you can eat inside....otherwise you take it to-go. I ate inside. Ordered a lunch special with steak taco and chicken enchilada. Comes with rice and beans. Honestly I found the food to be rather bland. Perhaps to cater to a local crowd. I like my food spicy, like you usually get in Chicago, or even Grand Rapids. Now when I say "spicy" I don't mean hot, I just want some flavor. I mean they do have some super hot sauces to add at no charge, but I don't like burying the flavor of my food with condiments....but looking around, that is what most of the diners were doing. My dining companions liked their meals better than I liked mine. I'll go back and order something else next time. Perhaps I can give that review more stars. read more

I wouldn't recommend, not worth the price. They don't put pineapple on the el pastor and they aren't kid friendly. Who eats fries without ketchup (as a kid). They didn't have ketchup. On 3/12/26 I had the best taco salad here that I've ever had. It had rice, refried beans and chicken. It was served with large slices of avocados on top of the lettuce. We stopped in for lunch today - the location is perfect, the inside isn't anything exciting, but the food is 100% worth the stop. They offer a $10 lunch - two items along with rice and beans. As we pulled up, we were surprised to see that this was a small restaurant and from the parking lot we could see the counter and few small tables inside. However, upon entering you are greeted with friendly customer service and a plentiful menu to choose from. We ordered at the counter and took our seats. While we waited, we enjoyed chips and salsa. I ordered the super wet burrito, which lived up to its SUPER name....it was enormous and loaded with delicious fresh ingredients! We also ordered a quesabirria, which is only offered on certain days. We've been here a couple times and really enjoyed it, but we were there Friday night and the meat was very fatty for the carne asada and the pork in the tamales. The tamales were very thin and I only got a couple bites in before I came up against fat/gristle and couldn't even finish the tamale. My husband had the same issue with his carne asada fries. read more

After years of driving by we finally gave Arturo's a try. I understand why it is a favorite. I love the a la carte of the menu so many options to have a taste of this and that. I wish more restaurants did that. I got the three mix match dinner. The tamale was possibly the best one I ever had. Steak taco had a great flavor. I was less impressed with my enchilada. It didn't have any overall distinct flavor. Beans and cheese super tasty. I think the $10 was a great value for the three items even if I didn't love it all. The other thing ordered was a burrito it seemed small for the $7.50 price. The food was not as a hot as I would have liked. Had there been a longer time between order- pick up -eat I would have attributed it to that. But it really wasn't that long and it could have been hotter. Last Saturday, we ordered 3 steak tacos, and 3 marinated pork tacos (both Mexican style), a side of rice, chips and salsa, and the green sauce (which I believe is considered their "hot"?). MMM. Oh also, the sauce... Start off with a little if you're worried about heat, however, I usually do about one per taco - living for the thick consistency btw. Let's taco bout our sides. The rice is your standard Mexican style rice we all know and love, no veggies in this one. The chips and salsa are good (thank you for salting your chips), but my inner hunger goblin craves a larger portion of the salsa! All in all.. simple, authentic, no frills or fluff menu, fair prices, quick, quality, and consistent. Everything we've tried on the menu has been excellent and is better than the chain restaurants by a mile and much more consistent than the fancy niche restaurants that seem to come and go or their menus are hit and miss. Arturo's is like that good friend that you can always count on. Plus, I cannot say enough about how kind and personable the team at Arturo's is.
