Buteco is a small cafe/bar that serves Brazilian street fare from their food truck parked right outside. The inside of the building has a coffee shop feel where you can bring your laptop and work, but there is also a full bar for your cocktail pleasure. Food/drink: Ordered the Chicken Skewers and the bacon/egg/cheddar (BEC) Pão de Queijo Waffles to eat and a hot mocha to drink. The Chicken Skewers were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The BEC waffle was delicious and savory and I really liked the texture of the waffle (presumably from the tapioca flour they used) which was light and the right amount of chewy. Service: The gentleman behind the counter was friendly and all smiles, answering any questions that I had. In general this is a cute spot to visit and I can tell that it tends to get more backed later in the day and into the evening. read more

This was one of the stops I enjoyed while I was in ATL. It's just some nights you're having such an amazing time you don't want to go home. The locals remembered Buteco was opened pretty late even though it's a weekday. It's a short Uber ride from the stadium. It's in a strip mall area with some eateries. Our livers wanted more so you could have coffee or liquor. Guess what we decided?!! Liquor and beer. The staff was friendly and bubbly serving up shots and drink orders to the crowd. The crowd being up because we came in about 8 deep. Live DJ on the patio spinning and folks inside, outside and patio. You didn't have to be on top of each other. It was a cool little spot and since we have people flying out we needed one more toast to the success of Craft Beer Con we attended with more to come by the weekend. read more

Worst customer service. Period. I've visited this place a couple times for Coffee and would say overall the experience + coffee have been decent. At best. Wanting to give it another shot, I suggested it to a friend for drinks and food. We sat and ate without issue then headed to try out another place in the Beacon. I realized about 5 mins later that I had left my $7+ unconsumed iced latte on the table. Hoping this would be my lucky day, I ran back and found that the table had been cleared. I asked the bartender, who I later was told is the General Manager AND my only option to complain about the customer service, if he had thrown it away. Naively thinking that perhaps they had set it aside. He very nastily told me that they threw it away. I then started to re-order another but changed my mind because I didn't like his tone. (Understanding that it was my fault for leaving it). Almost as if I was trying to "get over". One the way out, I saw the gentleman who originally made my coffee and said, I forgot my drink. He very nicely and to my surprise, volunteered to remake it. While doing so, and in front of me. ie. I can hear the whole conversation as the bartender proceeds to tell the barista about himself for making me another cup. (They were on the other side of the counter). I told them (him) it was making me uncomfortable and that this type of conversation should be had (if at all) outside of the presence of customers. (There were other ppl around) The bartender/manager then proceeds to tell me that I went behind his back and asked the barista to remake the drink. Which I did not. I then told him I didn't appreciate the service or his attitude. HE THEN SAYS HE HAS AN ATTITUDE WITH EVERYONE. And made a few other snarky remarks. I ended up paying for the second cup (because I didn't want the barista to be in trouble for being nice to me) and was told that there was no one else I could report this too. I said I would review them online and he told me to go right ahead. I guess online reviews don't carry much weight. I've never felt so dismissed in a place where I'm spending my hard owned money. For those of you who want a good cup of joe where you're also treated with respect, skip this place. Thank me later. read more

When I saw coxinha on the menu nearby, I was so excited. They're such a delicious comfort food. What's not to love about mashed potato, cheese, and chicken covered in breading like a croquette? These were pretty tasty, and the habanero aioli was a nice touch, but I wouldn't say they're the best I've tried. Most that I've had were all mixed together inside and larger single serving sizes. It was a very fair portion for the price though (6 smedium size coxinha) -- 8/10 The ham and cheese waffle is huge! It pairs nicely with the guava jelly and had wonderful crispy cheese on top. You might think it's undercooked in the middle but it's actually gooey cheese and ham filling. It almost makes me want to dig out my own waffle maker and make savory waffles! Nah, cleaning it afterwards is too tedious I definitely want to try the pesto version next!-- 9/10 The gem of the meal was the brigadeiro, unsurprisingly. I have a sweet tooth and this delectable chocolate dulce de leche-esque ball covered in chocolate sprinkles was perfection. The price is really reasonable for 3 sweet treats and I will absolutely have them again when I come get a cup of coffee. 10/10 My dog Pickles gives the waffle a 10/10. Really wanted elote and Birria tacos, had been here before so decided to go back. I double checked the menu online before I went to make sure they had what I wanted. When I got there, the menu had changed and they no longer had either of these things. I ordered anyways and the food took unusually long for a food truck on a not busy day. They ran out of salsa after I already ordered, but proceeded to give me a sad amount of salsa anyways instead of a refund. Just poor business practices. read more

My new favourite coffee shop. Great milk alternatives (oat milk in particular). I LOVE their waffles, I got their vegetarian one (pesto, tomato, mozzarella), easily can be two meals. Also it's cute, small and quiet, the barista is personable. While it's a small thing the reason I love their Latte more than other places, is they actually MX the drink (they shake it up like a cocktail) so then it's an even mixture throughout and the flavor isn't all at the bottom. I'm dreading the day when they blow up and the line is out the door but it's only matter of time since it's such a great place. This is another chill spot in the Beacon located in Grant Park. Although all of the tenants in this development share the parking lot, there is also a plentiful street parking. I've never had an issue finding somewhere to park! Buteco is located between Patria Cocina and Pin and Proper. You'll see the food truck outside of a small building with a couple of patio tables. When you walk in you're greeted by a handful of tables and a coffee bar. I was a little early for my meeting so I decided to sip on an Americano. I started a tab at the bar and I was able to snag a table. I got caffeinated and was productive thanks to the chill vibe. When my guest arrived, she was able to order her coffee on my tab easily. We were able to enjoy our coffee and chat while light music played in the background. Finally the hunger pains hit. It was time for food! After seeing some Yelpers posting about the delicious coxinha I knew just what we should order. The barista confirmed these were an excellent choice, so I appreciated his nod of confidence while he put in the order. They prepare all of the bites in the food truck so about 10 minutes later, a team member brought out the order with a napkin - no cutlery needed! A reminder that Buteco specializes in small bites and traditional Brazilian street food. The coxinha bites deserve all the attention they are garnering! These fried teardrop bites were absolutely delicious. They consist of pulled chicken and mozzarella enveloped by a delicious doughy fried exterior and sit on top of a spicy habanero aioli. I could have licked it off the plate! My only gripe during this visit was while I was sitting along the wall there were a couple of stinkbugs fluttering around us. It gave me the heebie-jeebies and I know there can't be much done about that but yikes. I should be used to them since I've lived in GA pretty much my entire life but it doesn't make them any less gross! In the corner there were a handful of instruments, records and lots of posters about upcoming live music events. They have open mic every Tuesday and have some local ATLiens visit to perform. Buteco is a unique bar for Atlanta. They serve delicious Brazilian street food and cocktails with live music in the evenings. Check out their event schedule on their website for updates about who's playing when. The space inside can get full for a Friday and Saturday night. They also often have live music on their patio Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The patio is heated and covered, in addition to being decked out in some really cool tile collages you might see on the streets of Rio. During the week day, this is a great spot to do some work from if you happen to work remotely. Small snacks, coffee and tea are served here, so you won't have to pack up and head to a restaurant with spotty WiFi. This small bar is located in Beacon Atlanta complex which is fairly new. They have free parking, which is pretty nice for a business ITP! I've also heard that the Beltline is within walking distance. The first time I came to Buteco was during their opening week. Something must have been off with their plumbing because the smell was terrible! I always give a place two tries and I'm glad I returned because I've had great experiences since I've been back! I really enjoy coming here and hearing people chat in Portuguese, hearing the live music and trying a new snack. I suggest a savory Pão de Queijo Waffle with Pesto, Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil. I've been recommended to try Caldinho de Feijão, a traditional soup, and I'm looking forward to it! read more

TL;DR - First impressions of seeing a food truck can be dismissed. Especially once you sit back (after ordering) and absorb the ambiance and chillax vibes of the bar/cafe. Come for the food and drink. Stay for everything else. [Location/Ambiance] Parking lot is plentiful though I'm not sure how busy it gets on prime time weekend dinner hours. The inside is welcoming and cozy with lots of use of wood for the decor and seating area. The surrounding area might feel industrial, but the interior is in contrast that is appreciated. We dined in after 9pm, and chill indie rock / electronic music was playing. [Service]: The bartender/barista take turns on handling both drink and food orders. They also gave us good recommendations even though the food menu is small. They do have favorites and top sellers to advise on. I didn't catch the bartender's name but Tim the barista makes a great chai latte with just the right amount of milk and cinnamon. They also informed me that he can make a real London Fog on my next visit. [Food Highlights]: Coxinha - perfectly undercooked dough in the center yet still having a crispy exterior. My only other limited experience on trying this item is a bakery cafe all the way up in Marietta. That one itself is great but tends to get dry in the center. This variation is very much welcome even if it's more of a small bites form. Quibe - These small croquettes are filled with juicy shredded beef. Also bitesize but plenty of flavors. Trust me when I tell you, you'll want more than just a quarter of a lime wedge. The lime juice just brightens up the taste of the batter. Must try. Tapioca Tots - These are an interesting take because they have a very slight, semi-sweetness mixed in with the savory cheese. It's worth trying as it's a good serving size to share. I'm half on the chili jelly because we got more of a drippy sauce than jelly. It gives it a contrast of flavor so I would recommend, trying it without the jelly and then with it. Grilled Chicken Skewers - Though they are grilled, I'm not sure if they are briefly flash fried as it has somewhat of a crispy exterior. The sauce gives it a little more character on taste. These were pretty good, but I think I would opt for the hanger steak if they aren't sold out. Chai latte - Being late at night, I opted on any cafe coffee drinks but they do use Intelligentsia brand coffee beans for any coffee connoisseurs out there. There are subtle aromas and a taste of cinnamon that lingers after each sip. One of the best that I have had in the city, that I even ordered an extra one to go. {Summary} The kitchen on wheels parked in front might have newcomers wondering about the quality of food. But fear not, they dish out all the items on the small menu with great quality. Mix that with the small setting of the cozy bar / dining area and this makes for a great mix concept. Not terrible overall but not worth it. As a person born and raised in Brazil, I had high expectations. I ordered Moqueca and it was just horrible. No flavor, no salt, same thing for the rice which had no salt at all, flavorless. In Brazil we cook our food with lots of spices and flavor, we cook the rice with salt, garlic and sometimes onions. The food is very bland and Americanized. If you had food at Buteco you have not had real Brazilian food. The fish in the moqueca was rubbery and it had only one very small piece of fish, not worth for the price. And $5 for two very average, low quality brigadeiros? Joke! Average size, average flavor. They don't taste much like real Brazilian brigadeiros at all. You're better off buying the ingredients and making at home, many more pieces and much more delicious for same price. We had the sampler of coxinha, pão de queijo and risoles and those were very good, but that's the only thing that was good. I guess their specialty is more finger food than real authentic Brazilian food. I would go back for the finger food (coxinha, pão de queijo, risoles) but not for the ""real"" food. I've only been here once for a cappuccino. It was over aerated and from the looks of their Instagram posts they still haven't learned how to steam milk properly. You can see over aerated milk when there are bubbles on the surface. Too many bubbles. It's not about if the person can do art. If the surface isn't wet like paint it's just not good. I realize there is a learning curve but unfortunately they don't have anyone that's knowledgeable about espresso. From what I remember they use Intelligentsia as their espresso and drip coffee. The training facility is here in Atlanta. It's a shame they don't hire people that are certified and have some experience. Now, I gave them four stars because I can appreciate what I think they are trying to do and they were very nice. You can tell they don't have anyone that is certified working there because they continue to post photos of poor drinks. Before I visit if I were you I would look at the drinks they post and make your decision from there. Not pulling a shot or steaming milk properly make all the difference in a drink. I've been tempted to keep this place as secret as I can, but the truth is everyone should know about Buteco. It's my new favorite place in town, it makes Grant Park a better place, and I know you'll love it. I've never been to Brazil, but my ideal vision of the culture is spontaneous community around good food and live music. If you were to distill and encapsulate that idea, it would be a buteco. Buteco is the Portuguese word for bodega. It's a place you can go at any time of the day to find a drink, some food, and someone to share it with. Rafael, one of the owners, grew up in Sao Paulo and spent a lot of time at his dad's buteco. His passion for the connection, the culture, and the music is what led him and co-owners Will and Ballard to recreate their own version of the Brazilian gathering spot, aptly named Buteco, in Grant Park. I'm so lucky to live just a couple blocks away. We've visited so many times! We go when we want to relax, when we want to celebrate, or when we need a pick-me-up. The food highlights Brazilian street food and is made in a food truck connected to the main building by a roof. The building itself is quite small, and the food and drink menu are small-ish and focused. The food plates are tapas-sized, and some guests will order one of everything and make a meal of it. If you're looking for a filling dinner, I'd recommend Patria Cocina across the parking lot, but if you're wanting some delicious snacks that give you a taste of Brazil, this is your spot! Location & Ambience: The Buteco building is hard to miss at the southern entrance of The Beacon. Lot and street parking is easy and close by. Don't be confused by the food truck - order everything inside and the team will bring it to you when it's ready. Inside, the seating is limited and intimate. It has all the best parts of that hole-in-the-wall feeling, but if you're feeling too close indoors, you can sit on the patio or in the covered outdoor area behind the bar. Come by on Fridays and Saturdays for live Brazilian music and remember that Rafael is a professional, world-traveling drummer well connected with the Atlanta Brazilian community (aka - you don't want to miss the live music)! Food : So far, I haven't had anything I didn't like. I especially love croquettes (coxinha = chicken and mozzarella, quibe = beef, wheat, and mint, more like falafel, and bolinho = beef), and I can't believe I haven't tried the corn & cheese risole or the black bean soup yet! I've already found some favorites, and it's hard to stray from those to try something new. The waffles (guava topped or stuffed with ham and cheese) are chewier than you'd expect due to the tapioca batter. My husband and I got both flavors for brunch once, along with cappuccinos, and left very full. Drinks : The coffee is always excellent, I'm working my way through the delicious cocktails, and don't overlook the soft drinks! Guaraná is a Brazilian soda made with a Brazilian berry called the guaraná. I love its unique flavor. But back to the cocktails - many use cachaça, a Brazilian spirit made from sugar cane. Eddy the bartender calls it tequila's Brazilian brother and uses it to make their signature cocktails and his versions of margaritas. (If you get to know the team well enough, they may tell you about some of the unlisted cocktails they're working on, which brings me to...) People : We've gotten to chat with the folks at Buteco quite a bit, and as if the culture, food, drinks, location, ambiance, and music weren't enough, the people are great. The wait for food can be long, but the customer service is always friendly and on point. If you get to meet any of the owners, it's obvious how thankful they are for the community's warm welcome. They've offered a sincere and humble "thank you so much" whenever I've talked about how much I love having them on the block. Buteco is new but running on all engines. Sometimes I hear bits and pieces of what the team is planning to add to the weekly schedule or try next on the menu, and I'll be more than happy to taste it all, but Buteco is already a staple in our weekly routine. Open less than a month now in the relatively new development known as "The Beacon" in Grant Park (down the street from Eventide Brewery), Buteco is a Brazilian coffee shop & bar--something you really don't get ITP and an exciting addition to Atlanta's food scene. Parking: there's shared parking all around so while you may not snag a spot immediately out front, you're bound to find something a short walk away. Space: my first impression was that the cafe is quite small--but in a cute, cozy way! You enter and it's really just the center walkway with the full bar to the right and banquette seating to the left. Decor includes reclaimed wood clad walls. Outside there's a patio with a food truck which currently serves as their kitchen. We came here just for drinks and quick bites, but I hear the coffee (they serve intelligentsia--yum) and breakfast are good so will certainly come back to try it. Drinks: Buteco features an extensive menu of cachaça--a Brazilian spirit made from fermented sugar cane, similar to rum--which you can try mixed into cocktails or as flights. I was very excited to see this, as it's rare to find cachaça in a bar let alone a selection of them. We ordered traditional caparinhas (Brazil's national cocktail!) made with cachaça, muddled lime, and sugar. They were delicious! Food: because of the limited kitchen space (food is currently prepared in the food truck outside), the menu is somewhat limited but the options are really tasty! Along with our drinks, my friend and I ordered the following to share: Coxinha ($7) - pulled chicken and mozzarella croquettes; sooo good and probably my favorite item that we had. Tapioca Tots ($5.5) - crispy, cheesy tapioca tots; loved the crisp outside, but a little odd if you don't love the gelatinous texture of tapioca. Bolinho de Mandioca com Carne ($7) - yucca croquettes stuffed with shredded beef; good flavor but was a wee bit dry. Overall, a great, little spot in Grant Park. If you have never had the Brazillian cousin to rum, you need to stop what you're doing and go to Buteco. A quaint coffeeshop and bar, they make the most delicious strawberry mint cocktail I've had. Period. It isn't too sweet as it would be from rum. But has enough to be refreshing. Combine it with the herbalness of the mint, and some acidity from the strawberry and it's a match made in heaven. I wasn't able to try the food but it looks delicious. And it being tucked away off the street means there's an amazing patio and will be my go-to relaxed date spot even though I live in West Midtown. read more

Husband and I toured the beacon and stumbled into Buteco for a quick afternoon snack. The interior is super quaint and cute with a coffee shop feel and outdoors they had a large covered patio area as well as a non covered patio area. You can see food truck outside of the restaurant making the food on the menu. We got their famous waffles with guava jelly! Texture of the waffle was good, but the main star was the jelly. I thought it was overall pretty decent, however, next time I'll opt for a salty one. I also ordered a chai tea latte that was perfect for a chilly day. Fun place for Brazilian food. There is NO indoor dinning as of June 2021. There was a dj playing music that made for a fun atmosphere. We got the savory sampler, however we would not order this next time. It was good, but it became too much of similar flavors (fried food). Definitely get this for a larger group. We split it between the two of us and it was too much fried food. The Paraíso Lento drink was so good we came back later in the day to have it again! It's fun, lavender, lemon, and agave. Grubhub driver here--arrived and the food wasn't quite ready. I was allowed in to use the restroom and I just stared in awe at how beautiful the decor was. I chatted with Shab for just a few minutes before going back outside to wait. I decided to order a latte while waiting and it was so so good. It tasted better than a latte I'd gotten at any other place before. As a driver we don't want to spend a lot of time waiting at the restaurant--it reduces the amount we can make per hour if we are waiting too long for the food to be prepared. Shab was so pleasant it was totally worth the wait. Her presence is so calm. She is humbling and easygoing. Whoever hired her---GREAT choice as she represents your brand. I live in the East Lake area so not too far. I would easily drop in to get more latte's on a regular basis. Checked out Buteca last Friday night after the Line finally died down. As the new joint in town it is pretty popular and as others have mentioned the space is small inside. The outside little patio is nice and hopefully they can squeeze in a few more tables/chairs. The mosaics outside are really cool and the inside has a nice, warm neighborhood-e feel. The food was fantastic and the prices are right. It was nice to eat a different genre of food than what I typically see and the bean soup seemed healthy as well as tasty. The caipirinha (I've had the regular and the strawberry one) is strong and authentic. We had the coxinha and bolinho de mandioca de carne -both of these "croquette" looking like things were great and I wasn't looking for a huge amount of food so it kind of works out like tapas. I loved the combination of flavors of the meat, mint, and bulghar in the food. I'm so happy this place is open. I'm always looking for new Brazilian spots around town. As a few others have mentioned, this place is small. There are only 5 tables - 2 2-tops and 3 4-tops and a bar. They look like they've added a few tables on the patio too. The kitchen is in the food truck outside. I'm sure it helps keep this spot cool. The outside patio also has a mosaic tile motif that would surely make Selarón smile in gratitude to the nod to his Lapa masterpiece. Perhaps it will continue to grow as time goes on. I'll also say I saw quite a few Brazilians eating and drinking there and I heard quite a bit of Brazilian Portuguese. We went with the plan of meeting someone there to eat some food and look at a few work items on a laptop. I almost feel glad our friend backed out because when we arrived there was only one 2-top available and the bar was full. Definitely be ready to wait a little, if needed. Don't be in a rush. Unfortunately, there were only a few items on the menu that were available. I've been to Brazil and knew what everything would look like. I kind of already knew that the only things available at the time were croquettes and my other half was going to take one look and think hush puppies. I prepared for this. Haha. We had the coxinha and bolinho de mandioca de carne. I also had a caipirinha that was strong and tasted perfect. Both croquettes were delicious. My other half did immediately say we were having two types of hush puppies. Luckily he liked both. I wish they had some of the skewers or other items. I wanted the tapioca too. I know they just recently opened and are probably still working out the kinks. I will definitely be back and will bring my best friend who I traveled Brazil with. Next time I want to try the house gold cachaça in my caipirinha. I wanted to give 5 stars but honestly we had to stop and grab burgers afterwards. Again if there were additional menu items available I don't think we would have needed other food. I'll still go back. I really hope they consider doing special days were they offer a specialty item like moqueca or feijoada. read more

It was alright. It is a great place to eat the appetizers like coxinha, the tapioca tots, drink a coffee, and enjoy the scenery. I wouldn't come here to eat an authentic Brazilian dinner. I got the Frango à milanesa. The chicken was dry, the cream corn and rice were not fresh. I would come back here though, only because the vibe is great, the coffee is good, and the appetizers are made fresh. read more

The menu has been updated since the last time I visited. Camila did her thing with the taco bowl. I got it with the fried fish and it was slammin'! absolutely loved it. I can't wait to try the yucca fries. Camilla is also very pleasant and is about satisfying the customers. I've also been to Buteco on a Wednesday night at Grant Park and it's a whole vibe with the live dj's. Very quaint and intimate. read more

Looking for a cocktail or a place to work? Definitely yes. Looking for good or healthy food? Nope. They really care about their bar program and have friendly bartenders with creative cocktails. They are happy to engage and share with you. Their liquor selection is unique and informed. It's a perfect place to work! Wifi, many outlets, usually free tables in the afternoon since it's not located near any major college, good light. I highly recommend this as a place to get in the zone. The downfall (or maybe just not their focus) is the food menu. There isn't much appetizing that's healthy and the abundance of fried foods aren't at the top of their game. Not bad, but not the best wings or croquettes or anything else I've ever had. I always get hungry and always have to kind of settle. read more

Brazilian street food! Waffle infused with rosemary, ham and cheese, I want to buy a waffle iron!!!! Coxinha (mashed potato stuffed with chicken), fried in a ball with this amazing (I call it yum yum sauce), but their version of spicy mayo! Sounds all very off but, wow the flavors were amazing! All worked very well together! Paired with a nice draft beer (lots of local breweries on tap), and a little live music on the side of building made for a great day while the weather is not yet blistering! read more
