Been looking at "Eater Atlanta" on the regular, and I'm starting to question wtf they are talking about. If I had to describe one "criticism" it'd be that "authentic" tacos usually equates to frozen foods stir fried and thrown in a toasted grocery corn tortilla in Atlanta. This is so far from that. My daughter and I stopped by Buteco recently to check out their espresso offerings. First of all it's a super cute place. Love the vintage Latin vibes! The decor is great! The inside is pretty cozy but they have plenty of space outside to enjoy your coffee, cocktail, or delicious food. Yes, they offer more than just coffee! BUTECO is great! I ordered an iced matcha, quart of iced coffee and bacon/egg/cheddar waffle. Each item exceeded any expectations! The matcha was exactly as I'd hoped and had the option for oat milk. The waffle was so flavorful and the sauce included made for a really unique breakfast! The coffee was solid and I appreciated the option to order more for later. To start out, this place has a fun vibe. It's the place you go to get a drink, sit outside, and listen to the live music. The drinks are amazing! Super fresh and super tasty. The food... well, it's flavorful, there are lot of good spices but it can be quite dry. I got the bife e arroz and the steak was seasoned great but there was no sauce or marinade or anything so the whole dish ended up a little dry. Maybe try one of the stews if you're looking to grab dinner here. Else, just enjoy the drinks and music. read more

With only 5 tables currently (they're opening up patios very soon) the inside of Buteco is definitely a squeeze. We stopped by to check them out after hearing they had opened recently and since I'm always on the lookout for Brazilian food in Atlanta, I had to see if they were doing it right. And they are! Despite being open for maybe a week (?) there was a constant throng of people coming in, despite it being relatively off-the-map and lacking in sitting space. The place is really more of a Brazilian/fusion bar with accompanying small bites that get cooked in the food cart parked outside the restaurant but almost everything I tried was fantastic. I say almost because unexpectedly their pao de queijo had a bit of a weird flavor but I credit that to a new oven that hasn't been broken in completely yet. The rest of their selections, from quibe fritters to the coxinhas, were spot on, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. Their caipirinhas are generous on the booze and they also have an extensive coffee offering if you're not ready for happy hour drinks. I don't think this place will have trouble bringing people in, but I hope they can keep up with the demand! read more

I am a personal lover of the Brazilian culture. The food, the music, the language and the love I feel from everyone I meet from all over Brazil here in Atlanta. This coffee shop/bar is very close to my house and it's now my personal fav!! It's in a cute up and coming area of grant park and the coffee was everything I wanted it to be and more! The menu was a fusion of Brazil meets America, and I have not a single complaint. It seems to be a local favorite because when I came in everyone seemed to know everyone. I'm sure this has a lot to do with the owner Raphael. He's a transplant from São Paulo and was very warm and welcoming. Just ordered a sausage sandwich to-go and potato wedges. Got a salmon sandwich and 4 wedges (for $6). They put it in a very large brown paper bag for one sandwich box so it's a 3-handed effort to check to make sure you get the right order. It was a slooww afternoon so no reason for the mix up. I really want to write something good about this place, but unfortunately... Not many options on the menu to choose from. They take your order at the counter and automatically 25% tip is added, what I wouldn't mind if I didn't need to get up to get my own water, then again for a glass with Ice for my soda, because the server brought only one for two sodas. The salgadinhos are good, but way to small, the beef skewers are well done Cold rubbery and covered with the worst Chimichurri I've ever tasted. The staff is very friendly, but they take their time! Little expensive for the size of the portions, because our tab was $68.00, for 4 different items from menu, and 2 sodas, not forgetting that the skewers were inedible. We left hungry and disappointed. No need to say we ended up going to another place to eat before heading back home. Glad there are so many other good options in the area. Next time we probably will eat somewhere else and go just to try the drinks. Or not. read more

It was a surprise to me. The food was delicious, savory and perfect serving size. Pricewise is just about right for the food, drinks and the atmosphere. They play Brazilian samba music from old school composers. They also live music which makes the place even more interesting. I strongly recommend "caldinho de feijão" and "coxinha". As a Brazilian this place is super Americanized. The coxinha was too brown and flavorless. The tapioca tots were okay. The fried ( they're not supposed to be fried?) pão de queijo tastes like regular fried dough. The feijoada was served in a small portion and the greens were poorly cooked. I was pretty desperate for feijoada, but this was just awful. Either the management is married to an American or these poor Brazilians had to adapt to an American market. read more

You really cant go wrong with this place if you are looking for a different night out. They often have live music with a Brazilian spin, and the food is a modern take on Brazilian classics. This is not a Fogo De Chao kind of place. It is set up like popular coffee and bar restaurants you find in Brazil. The owner, Rafa, is one of the warmest and hardest working people you will ever meet. And odds are, if you are there, he is there too. Great place to go in ATL. The drinks are very good , and yes, they have alcohol in it( not like some places that put few drops of alcohol), real cachaça! I love the Brazilian discs, just remind us our childhood, and best musicians in Brazil. The food is pretty delicious but I do miss to have bolinho de bacalhau and bolinho de mandioca without meat, with those items I will totally feel at home. I picked a good friend up from the airport Friday who was visiting Atlanta for the first time. I wanted to impress him right away with our culinary scene, and Yelp didn't disappoint. I drove him straight to Buteco, where we were warmly greeted by Rafael and his staff. The best way I can describe the space is a coffee house meets tapas restaurant. The menu is purposefully limited, and focused on quality taste. The Coxinha and Hangar Steak Skewers were a flavor explosion. We sipped on Traditional Caipirinhas and people-watched on the outdoor patio while discussing the socioeconomic changes occurring in Atlanta since the '96 Olympics. We opted out of a second drink to save space for the PCM food court, and enjoyed a second conversation about the Atlanta food scene with Rafael as we settled our bill. I feel like a met a new friend, and promised to return with my wife in the very near future. I love supporting new businesses, especially ones that warmly greet new clientele. I love this place. Driving over 30 minutes just to eat their small plates. Like most places in Atl that want to make authentic foods end up confirming to more " southern" acceptable menu items. They removed the absolute most divine Quine from the menu and replaced it with various southern-ish items. I strongly recommend to ownership and chef to stay true to Brazilian street food.
