They hit the ball out of the park. Was not expecting anything crazy based on other reviews, but my partner and I were pleasantly shocked at how amazing this dining experience was. The tortellini and chicken Marsala were to DIE for. Absolutely delectable. The Pinot noir and Nero d'avelo glasses were delicious. We got an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 glasses of wine for a very reasonable price. Service was prompt. Gorgeous views. Here's a cleaner, sharper version with the knife polished but not over-swung: The service was good, which is the only reason I'm not rating this lower. The minestrone was disappointing. Traditionally, minestrone includes pasta, but this one had none, and it was far too salty. The gnocchi had a gummy texture and was also overly salty. The halibut puttanesca was underwhelming overall. The halibut itself was cooked well, but the dish lacked balance and cohesion. The olives were left whole instead of being cut, there was not enough garlic, and the sauce lacked the bold, briny flavor you expect from a proper puttanesca. Overall, the food felt careless and under-seasoned in some ways while being overwhelmingly salty in others. Good service helped, but the kitchen missed the mark. read more

I had been wanting to eat here for about 6 years now and finally got around to it. We had a group dinner here for ten and it was wonderful! Leisurely and chill, really delicious, attentive service, etc. Our server had great knowledge of the menu and was really kind. (Older woman with short hair whose name I should have retained.) We all liked our food a lot and I didn't get dessert, but those that did were pleased. Oh, sunset was amazing too! A bright pink sky. The view is great. I would definitely go back. when I was a kid, this place was called pearls by the sea. It was an amazing place to get the best cinnamon-rolls in the whole entire world!! When they closed down, I was incredibly sad. Here we are 30 years later and I'm taking my kids to check out the Italian version of pearls on the sea now called Masimo. It was weird to walk in to not see the dark setting and fire places. It used to be, but I was pleasantly surprised with how good the food was. I ordered their special which was a steak dish with an amazing cream sauce. The kids got spaghetti and my husband who is gluten-free was able to get a really good fish dish. it was definitely good and definitely worth going back to!! read more

I reserve my Five Star ratings for places that hit SO perfectly. Service - an absolutely lovely woman serving is. View - OMG that's water right outside and we could see the current splashing waves on the rocks outside as the sun went down. And food!! I could have drank a full bowl of the perfectly lemony, garlicky, broth our mussels and clams were swimming in. They've also got a thoughtful wine list and, on general, Massimo's is so chill. It's romantic and it's also hospitable to families. One of my absolute favorite places to go. Plus the warm bread served at your table and the pannacotta dessert, which is the only place I ever have it. read more

The views are fantastic and our service was super fast and friendly. We had reservations at 6 and were in our seats at 6. The list of specials was exhaustive - too exhaustive to remember. I heard elk and actually stopped hearing after that. We started with the burrata and it was fantastic. The elk was awesome. So tender. The pasta with seafood and pesto was great. The ambience of this place was pretty cool. We requested to sit next to a window in the beginning and the host said she would do what she could. When she sat us, we were not able to sit next to a window, even though there was open the seats because she didn't want us to sit in a server section that wasn't there. The next two tables behind us got sat at windows. It started off as pretty irritating. Hosts name was Savannah. She sat us in Bre"s section. There was so many special it was super hard to keep track of them all. It would be nice to have them written down for the tables. We ordered two glasses of wine, bread starter came out, then our entrees. Bre was very personable and easy to talk to. I wouldn't order the shrimp linguine again due to 3 shrimp for $8 add on. I would probably order the spaghetti with saffron cream sauce. Almost put two stars on the review because of the host situation. But Bre was able to build it up to three stars. read more

We're new to the area and just looking for restaurants to try, and this one is now our favorite. Besides the friendly, helpful and attentive staff and scenic views, the food was awesome. We were very surprised at the reasonable prices. A glass of wine will be at least $9 but you'll save enough on the food to make up for it. We both enjoyed our bread with olive oil, salads and entrees, and then shared a tiramisu which was amazing. I can't wait to go back and try other menu options! read more

Service was very slow. ordered one of the specials which was tri-tip and pasta. It came out with a tiny amount of pasta and this tri-tip is one large round tube piece of meat not sliced sitting in a bowl was very difficult to eat, not sliced. Was a rare piece of tubed meat sitting on a small amount of pasta in a bowl .Very disappointing. Talk to the server she just looked at us like we were crazy all she would say was I don't understand. Just relocated to the area and wanted to try this place out. Always see lots of cars out front. Not much to look at from the outside, but inside was nice, large outdoor patio overlooking Henderson Bay. Was able to make a last-minute reservation on Father's Day. Very nice staff, terrific prices and of course the food which we really enjoyed. We typically skip desert, but we decided to calorically splurge, and we tried several which were great. Oof. I wanted to like this place so bad. Beautiful location, and when we drive by on a Friday and Saturday night. It is POPPIN. After 2 years we finallly decided to give it a try and boy was it disappointing. We made a reservation for 6 o clock. First impressions the place was super cute and completely unlike the outside when you walk in. I walked in and was excited! The bar was stunning and the views gorgous. But then you turn to the unfriendly host.. We were told there were two people ahead of us and then we would be sat. We sat and waited our turn. Once it was our turn we were lead to a table in the back. The couple that came in after us with no reservations were given a window table. Upsetting and not how these things should work. But i am still staying positive! The waitress was wonderful and bubbly and recited the specials and things were going well. And then came the courses. I ordered a canolini and my fiance the chicken parmesan. The caneloni was okay, but the chicken parmesan was awful. Ive had dry chicken before but this wasnt that, dry is edible. This was a weird texture and tasted like it had been frozen and unfrozen multiple times. We had to send it back and we never send food back. He ordered the lasagna thinking they couldn't possibly ruin that. But boy was he wrong. The layers were completely off, the ammount of meat was inedible and it was not finished. Lets get dessert and get out of here! Welll. I have never in my life had a tiramisu that was DRY. How is that even possible. We left dessert half eaten and got out of there. I got a pasta dish that was a special for the day, I will not do this again because I feel like the ingredients were past their freshness. The pasta dish had salmon which tasted fishy mussels, which had an off flavor as well, but the clams were still good. my husband ordered the lasagna, which unfortunately did not have much flavor to it at all and was very mushy. We love to support our local restaurants and will give the restaurant another try and pay more attention to peoples reviews on the menu. read more

The spaghetti sauce was watery and tasted canned, the steak was rare when my grandfather requested medium, and the atmosphere was quiet and stuffy with the only source of ambiance being the view of the water where I was sat. We have been here before and have always enjoyed our dinner, but my birthday celebration 2 weeks ago was super special. A couple of other couples joined us and we had a wonderful time here. Food was great and the atmosphere terrific. I'm originally from New York and this place reminds me of a typical Italian restaurant that I'd find along the Long Island sound... the aromas, the atmosphere, and the food! And then our waiter, Ethan, really made the celebration special. He was professional and friendly and fun. I think we might make this a yearly tradition for my birthday! I returned to Massimo's with some friends for a dinner reservation. The ambiance of this restaurant is always fantastic because it's right on the water and it's a really large restaurant. However, this experience was less than great and honestly, none of us will come back. Our server was really young and not very attentive. I asked at the beginning of the mail if I can do a side of eggplant Parmesan - she said she would ask the chef . We sat so long that my husband eventually just went up to the bar to get himself a drink. When he was gone, one of the many servers came over to us and asked if we needed anything and I said well my husband already went up to the bar because nobody's checking on us. So instead of doing the right thing and saying " I am so sorry you are experiencing this, we will make this right", her response was " well yeah we're pretty busy". So so unacceptable in a restaurant environment. When our food finally arrived , over 60 minutes later , there was no eggplant Parmesan or no explanation . So I asked her again am I able to order a side of eggplant Parmesan and she said well you know the chef said yes, but I'm not sure how much to charge . So she said she'd go check again. This is when we received our food. She came back and said "the chef said no". So my response to that was that's fine. Let me just order the entrée. The food was really really good- delicious but the cannelloni portion is about five bites and gone, so I'm glad there was a second entrée that we could pick from. Overall, our group spent good money on food and cocktails, but it is not worth driving out there for service like this. read more

Last night was our first time having dinner here. It was a great experience. We were seated a few minutes before our reservation time. Service was exceptional. Everyone was very attentive. Now for the meal. All three meals were delicious. We ordered two specials and one from the menu. All three meals were seafood of some kind. Fresh and cooked perfectly. I'm not sure how much longer this joint is going to hang on with their greatly reduced hours. It's such a shame, the location is so great (minus the parking, the parking sucks). I had hopes when they cleaned up ref outside but inside it's still very poorly done American Italian, fake vines and all. A little clean up and some fresh paint (not dark colors!) would go sooo far. The food is always ok, but nothing amazing. I believe they make a lot of things in house but in true American Italian style it lacks flavor big time. The servers are mostly nice, some stronger than others but none really bad. On a nice evening, especially in the summer, it's worth dealing with all the had to sit on their little patio and look over the water. For that reason along I hope they work out whatever is happening and get back to regular hours - bonus points if they improve the food. read more

My hubby and I went for our 33rd anniversary. It was amazing! I can't believe I've lived in the area for all of those years and never knew this place existed. The restaurant is right on the water and the views are divine. The interior is clean and very upscale. The service was great and the food was absolutely delicious! My husband had the Massimo pasta and I wanted to lick the plate clean. My pasta was nicely done as well, but was more on the healthier side. His was so much richer, creamier and yummier. read more

Went Friday 2/07 with a friend. I always ask for Andi's table as she is the very best. i had one of the specials that day, the Fusilli Boscaiola. Something I had never had before and it was delicious. Will order again if they have it. Had a glass of Poggio Vignoso Chianti with it. So much food, I needed another glass of wine and had the Pallidio Chianti. My friend had the seafood special which was a mixture of clams, mussels, shrimp and salmon on a bed of creamy pasta, with a beer. He raved about it. The service was excellent and prompt. We had water and delicious bread with a herbed olive oil quickly. I asked for a small dish of the balsamic and it was promptly brought out. The restaurant was about 2/3 full from 5 when we arrived to after 7 when we left. We had a window seat and enjoyed the view over the water and the lights on Henderson Bay. Casual crowd. Moderate prices. If you like Italian food, we both highly recommend Massimo's. They have an extensive menu and wine list. read more
