A good local place I had an opportunity to drive up to Butterfield's this morning and arrived not long after they opened. What an inviting place. I was told to sit where I wanted, and my server quickly got me coffee. They have a colorful mural along one wall and I just generally I liked the feel of the place. Country music played in the background and the staff seemed to know all their customers. I ordered their Homemade Corned Beef Hash & Eggs, and it was ready quicker than I expected. The hash was very good, and my bread so very soft. The only potato choice for my side was hash browns, which I found too oily. Wished they had home fries as an option, personal preference. The reviews were right, the service is so friendly! Two sisters work the whole place from taking orders to delivering orders and checks and checking out at the reception desk. The food is bountiful and wholesome good. I got the Butterfield Club - delicious and huge. My partner got the Cuban Sandwich and loved it. The menu is large and varied - all day breakfast, hearty sandwiches cold and hot, big salads and entrees. The restaurant (including bathrooms) is very clean. The highlight is the great service - the two sisters (who have been working there for 8 years) clearly love their work and their regular customers, of which there were many. They are super friendly, very fast, attentive and efficient. The place is in a strip mall just 2 miles off of 75, making it very convenient. Skip the fast food and head to Butterfields! As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with smiles and for the rest of the time you are there. Everyone was so nice. The food was very good. My husband had the pot pie which was awesome. I had the blackened grouper which also was great. There is a wide variety of sides to choose from. I had the sweet potato tots and the pimento balls. Both were a nice change from the usual. A few months ago I went in here, a man choked (unavoidable of course) then proceeded to vomit on the table and the waiter wiped up the vomit, DID NOT use any cleaning product and the man at the table left and another group came to sit down. Went here once on a Saturday for breakfast with my child after being told it was a must-go. I was totally underwhelmed. We waited for 15 minutes to be acknowledged at the table, after waiting for 30+ min for a table. I had to flag someone down for everything - extra napkins, more coffee, etc. The waitress was very sweet but I think they hadn't let her know we were her table so someone else was taking care of us and then we were handed off. Well. After fleeing from Dorian's menacing eye, we found ourselves heading back east early in the morning. My bride instructed me to listen to the recorded navigation voice and comply with a stop at Butterfields's - she heard the biscuits were excellent. Upon entering, we were greeted by a cheerful young lady who promptly seated us, provided menus and served water and coffee as requested. Looking at our surroundings, it appeared she was working the restaurant alone.... and she was. No problem for this busy lady- she was taking fine care of five tables and one patron at the diner stools.....as well as us weary travelers. My wife and I each ordered corned beef hash- mine with scrambled egg, English muffin and "well done hash browns" -hers with 2 medium poached eggs, biscuit, and a side of sliced tomatoes. Our son- the gyro scramble with biscuit. As we are chatting and waiting for our breakfast, our server makes a phone call on her cell: "are you coming in?" she says. "OMG really? You lost your keys? Where did you find them? OK, I'll see you when you get here..." A couple more guests arrive and soon the place is getting busy..... my wife and I look at each other with that " here we go" kind of dread..... Said young lady is taking all of this in stride- actually NOT EVEN MISSING A STRIDE, steps up her game and is OWNING it. Not a thing out of place, a smile on her face, and a room full of happy customers. Front door opens and in rushes her co-worker with keys jangling. She walks over behind the bar, drops her stuff. Our server walks over to her and greets her with a smile, a giant hug and an " are you okay?" We smile. Other patrons smile. Everyone is in a good place. In a few minutes, new server brings out or breakfast and wow! There's a biscuit on my wife's plate that I'm now wishing was on my plate. Sliced. Toasted. Buttery. Crispy edges and soft pillowy inside. Kind of like a favorite aunt- you know- the one with beehive hair that drinks beer. Poached eggs: according to my bride, perfect Scrambled eggs: just fine. Corn beef hash: yep. Crispy edges, not over cooked. Hash browns- although cooked properly, they didn't arrive as requested.... I didn't complain ( probably because I was too busy gazing at the biscuit) Sliced tomatoes: according to wifey, " they must buy them directly from the growers. This tomato is FINE" We enjoyed our breakfast and Butterfields - generous portions, well prepared, and very nice, well experienced service. As I made a truce with my plate, the cheerful server approached our table with a plate.... of WELL done hash browns. " The other cook said THIS is what well done hash browns are supposed to look like" she said.. I said " can I get a box for that?" Butterfields is a gem of a place. We highly recommend!
