I really wanted this to be a five star after reading the reviews and ordering their "award winning" burgers. We got three burgers (waco kid, funghi sublime, and Italian stallion - first two had won awards but we were assured we couldn't go wrong), and a side of yucca fries. Maybe we came on a bad night but the burger patties were way too salty - two were very salty one was less so but still too salty for a good burger patty - it ruined what would have been very creatively curated burgers. The yucca fries tasted great, not healthy if thast what you're going for when you think of yucca since it's deep-fried in a potato batter, but it was good. We did still eat the food, though I had to down a whole glass of water with it (which didn't get refilled until after I asked for the check.. it was not a busy night, we were surrounded by empty tables). When asked how our food was toward the end of our meal I mentioned that the patties were too salty but that the yucca fries were good. Nothing was mentioned/done about that for us but hopefully they checked on that for the sake of the rest of their customers after us. read more

Stopped in here for a late night dinner and was disappointed from the beginning. It had rained for the majority of the day here in Sedona, and I guess there are a few structural issues with this building because there were 2 buckets on the floor collecting dripping water from the ceiling... and the water looked pretty gnarly. We should've turned around then and there, but my dad was starving and craving a burger so we stayed. Our waitress sat us and collected our drink order and then disappeared for 15 minutes. When she finally came back, she took our appetizer and entree orders - which we had requested our app to come out early with 2 sauces: Chipotle Aioli and Truffle Dijonase. The fries came out another 15 mins later without the sauces, which was disappointing but we were so hungry we tore into them bare- and they were pretty good. Our food came out and my dad enjoyed his "Nothing Burger" and my mom enjoyed her Green Goddess salad. I thought my patty melt inspired "Oui Oui Monsieur" was okay, I just ordered wrong. I should've gotten a burger for sure. It's hard to rate the food truly on its own because of how disappointing the service was. We were definitely rushed out, as they were closing in 30 minutes. Our waitress did not fill our water until the check was already paid & we weren't asked if we wanted dessert / a shake to go - which we probably would've ordered if asked. Very expensive food for such a disappointing meal. The place has a great vibe that invites you in! Inside is a little dark and gives date night feels so we sat outside for the lighting to enjoy the day. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. They were beyond accommodating for my party. Now the food! Words do not do this justice....the burgers hit the spot and something I can't make at home (so I don't mind spending $20 ish on it, absolutely worth every penny). The dessert, wow! Stopped by Butterfly Burger in Sedona and was really impressed. The cozy ambiance made it a great place to relax, and the waitresses were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall experience. I ordered the Funghi Sublime with a side of Yukon Gold Potato Salad, and everything came out quickly - about a 10-minute turnaround which was great. The burger itself was excellent: the bun was fluffy, the cheese melted perfectly, and the mushrooms brought a rich umami flavor that really made the burger stand out. The patty could have been a bit more seasoned, but it was hearty and satisfying nonetheless and I was feeling full after just half of my burger. The Yukon Gold Potato Salad was a great side as well, with freshly chopped dill that gave it a bright, herby flavor. The Butter Fries were crispy and lightly salted, my favorite style of fries. Checked into our hotel and asked the concierge for his favorite places to dine at. He told us the Butterfly Burger had the most amazing burgers and truffle fries. He had me at truffles . They have indoor and outdoor seating so on a cooler day, sitting outside would be lovely. We chose to sit at the bar. My friend and I weren't too hungry so we split the Funghi Sublime burger and truffle-parm tater tots. The burger came with a side and you could choose from: Yukon gold potato salad, butter beans vinaigrette or 3-seed cilantro slaw. We chose the 3-seed cilantro slaw and it was delish! I'm very late in this review, but I wanted to make sure to get my input on here about our trip to Butterfly Burger in June, 2025. This is another of Lisa Dahl's restaurants, and there are a couple of things that make it clear this is related to Mariposa. First, just like at Mariposa, the staff is well-trained and excellent. Second, their cheesecake is outrageous (outrageously good!). They did not have prickly pear cheesecake like at Mariposa, but the rotating flavor they had was raspberry. And while not quite as tasty as the Mariposa version, it was clearly the same recipe and it was amazing. The rest of the menu: burgers were very good. Yucca fries were great. The regular fries were also really good. My son had a good milkshake. One other thing of note, it's a small thing and almost embarrassing to say, but their house made ketchup was excellent! read more

Was in Sedona for a couple days and decided to try this spot. I'm not a big burger guy but this was AMAZING! I had the Pollo Poco Loco burger with potato salad on the side. Everything was well prepared and seasoned to perfection. The brioche bun was buttered and toasted perfectly. The chicken burger had pepper jack cheese, charred poblano, guacamole, crispy onions and Louis Sauce! Tayler the bartender did a very good job on the Old Fashioned(s). I may or may not have had more than one! They also had very cool bar to look at with some cool funk/jazz music playing which complimented the ambience! What a freaking joke! Had a party of 6 and knew there was only one table to accommodate so called repeatedly for over an hour... no answer. Turns out that the phone had the volume turned down. When we arrived 6 top was filled as expected, but pretty light crowd so thought we could be accommodated. But, no. According to staff Lisa had a policy that we couldn't move a two top table two feet over to the 4 top. When I asked why I was told chef (aka Lisa) likes it that way and they would get in trouble if they moved. Come on Lisa, sometimes accommodating the customer is ok. Came in to town and was looking for something gluten free to eat for dinner. I saw that this place has GF buns so decided to give it a try. It's a pretty cute place and wasn't very busy when I was there, just a couple of tables were taken. The staff were friendly. I ordered a burger with a GF bun. Unfortunately they didn't have many sides I could eat since most of their sides are fried in a non dedicated fryer. They did have potato salad so I opted for that. The GF bun was pretty tasty. The burger itself didn't have too much flavor and was really greasy, to the point the bun was soaked. For desert I ordered Crème Brûlée. It was decent. If we could give twelve stars we would. First, our server was Joel. He was AAHHHMAZING! So attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and very engaging. As a food business owner, I was highly impressed. Next, he recommended the local Oak Brewery Red Ale and it was perfect. Our burgers were perfectly done, slightly pink. We had potato salad-- which was fantastic. But the coleslaw-- with tarragon!! Holy holy, it was fantastic. Brilliant spin. So simple but perfect. The butter beans. As a bean fanatic, I adore simple creamy butter beans. I was hesitant to try them, as o didn't want them "mucked up". Joel explained their garlic butter beans in a delicious vinaigrette-- and he totally sold me on the comfort food I love. Not your typical southern butter beans. Better. Truly-- better. I can't wait to go home and make them for my grandchildren. The couple next to us were wonderful company, we had real estate ventures and life experiences in common, and they explained all about Lisa, the owner. (We knew who she is). The folks to our right were from Bosnia and I delighted in having an old world conversation. With them as well. Truly family dining experience and well worth whatever price we paid. Just finished hiking the devils bridge with a group of 5 so we were starving . Came to this burger place with a 45min wait time. Our savior the host was able to make a 4 seat table into a 5 and cut our wait time in half. Unfortunately it took a while for our server to get us situated with just our drinks so that was disappointing. But the foooood made up for everything. Mariposa has a dress code but amazing view and tucked away a little to get probably really great views at night. This place was good to get some similar foods but with a more casual atmosphere but still nice for a date night. The only issue I had here was, they didn't pass the water test. No one came to refill our water. Even when I asked for more water from the person who brought our food, we never got a refill. The burgers are great, and the french fries are phenomenal. But there are some downsides. 1. This may be the most unattractive decor for a restaurant that I have ever encountered. Basically, everything is black, or almost-black. Duh?? What are we supposed to do? Ask for death-metal music on the side?? But even the extremely depressing color scheme apart, this is not a gracious room. Might be suitable to have some after-work happy hour, but certainly not good for couples, dates, etc. No actual booths, lots of uncomfortable hightops, etc. 2. You get no fries with your burger. You can get some goofy sides (butter beans???), but no fries. That will be $8 extra. Our service and our food was fine. But note that the restaurant has no tartar sauce available. I am not fond of ketchup and generally try to get tartar sauce for my fries. Can't do here, even though there are some fish entrees (where you would normally expect tartar sauce as standard). Finally, I appreciate that the fries are not cooked in canola oil; we were told they use rice oil instead. Dear Ms. Dahl: black is generally not a good color choice for the interior decor of anything, but certainly not for a restaurant open to the public. Maybe black has some deep meaning for you. But, still, customers generally do not come looking for a downer. read more

Wow this might be the best burger I've had and I am a burger guy. I got the Gringo Burger. Cooked perfectly. White cheddar, pickles, tomatoes, burger sauce, and crispy onion straws. (See pic). So savory but not over the top. Thicker burger patty cooked exactly to the temperature I ordered. Bun was fantastic. Toasted brioche bun that was soft but held up. But the crunch from those onion straws put it over the top. Will be back a lot. Only downside, drinks are a little pricey. read more

Business today I'm on a tour from the central coast to Vegas, Sedona, the Grand Canyon and places between. The clients ditched me for dinner so I went out to refuel and Yelp found this place for me. Ahh...where can I park this 32' party bus, well I managed that and walked in to the Butterfly. This is cool, reminded me of Eureka but with a darker more mellow atmosphere. I found my favorite seat at the bar (on the short end with no other chairs or people). BAM!... half a pound of ground angus beef, cheese and bacon with a side of cole slaw. The burger was up pretty fast, there was a few small sliced dill pickles, a thick slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce finished the plate. I love it when the serve the burger with a hearty steak knife "Hey we have good steaks too" I cut the burger in half, the bun was strong, fresh and thankfully there no sesame seeds on the bun, my petpeve. It was a good burger cooked to order, perfect. thank you. The coleslaw was just that nothing fancy here just a chopped cabbage and dressing, I didn't see any carrot in the mix. And before I knew it I was done. It was just enough without the "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" feeling.
