Honestly a delight. My wife and I stopped in because we felt like breakfast and it was already lunch time. At first glance of the menu, you see all the things you'd expect to see. Then you read a little deeper and you realize they've been very clever about elevating the standard faire. I've had breakfast skillets at numerous restaurants over the years but I've never had one with perfectly seasoned steak strips and mole sauce, so flavorful! (I wish I had a photo to show you.) My wife had the kale salad with thinly sliced apples and a champagne vinaigrette. The salad was chilled but the kale must have been blanched beforehand because it was soft, a rich green color and delicious. The biscuits were yummy but even more so was the house-made jam they served with it; just fruit, no added sugar. When the biscuits were done, I admit having a little more of the jam on a spoon! My family and I visited Buttermilk in dt Geneva on a Sunday early afternoon. We knew it would be busy, but after a short 10 min wait we were seated. Josh was our server and he did a phenomenal job at taking good care of us. He was professional, personable, knowledgeable of the menu and very efficient. I usually order the eggs Benny with potatoes and it didn't disappoint! We also ordered French toast with fruit & chocolate topping, and the "eggs your way." Everything I've ever eaten there is delicious - omelettes, pancakes, sandwiches, everything. The food don't miss. A friend and I stopped by Buttermilk in Geneva on the recommendation of someone we met in St Charles. We mentioned we would be heading to the next town for breakfast before going back home in Downtown Chicago. I must say, the room is clean, big and bright. Large windows on the corner restaurant allowed tons of natural light in even though it was a rainy day. The black & white decor is really sharp and looks fantastic. We both ordered the Farm Skillet and it was sooo delicious. Tons of veggies with tasty potatoes really made a hearty meal. It ended up being 2 meals. 1 for now. 1 for later. Our server was very pleasant but disappeared quite often. Twice we had to ask someone else for service. It wasn't a huge problem but I prefer a little more attention. Don't let the looks of the place fool you. Menu is big and appearance of food is okay but taste does not stand up. Wife had burnt French Toast. My meal was made wrong, they apologized and said they would remake, all they did was put the same old food back on the grill and added in what they missed, came back to me hard and burnt. Table next to us also recieved wrong order and heard them complaining. They did comp my meal, which I didn't eat, but conveniently still charged me for the avocado I order for top of my sandwich. Was passing through here on the way to St. Charles from Chicago and could not pass up the opportunity to go to this cute establishment with an extensive menu! It was hard to make a decision because majority of the menu was appealing to me. I settled in the mountain house skillet with a side of pancakes, upgraded to cinnamon roll speciality for only $3 extra. I was able have eggs, cheese, veggies, potatoes, and sweet fluffy pancake in one meal. But guess what, I couldn't eat it all, so majority of the skillet came home with me for round 2! I absolutely love Buttermilk! The only negative--and honestly also a positive--is their huge portions. If you don't eat a lot in one sitting or don't like reheating leftovers, I recommend sharing a dish. Their honey biscuits are incredible, and the homemade jam they serve with them is amazing--you can even buy a jar to take home! Another must-try: their house-made ranch dressing. I always order a side of it to go with any fries--seriously, it's a game-changer. The customer service here is always great, even though they're usually packed. After running errands all morning, my wife and I decided to stop here for a little breakfast. I have heard about this location by many coworkers so it was nice to be in the area. Not to mention, in the same area as my shopping errands too. The location is very easy to find. Parking can be a little difficult but there are plenty of parking lots and parking spaces if you do not mind a little walk. Walking inside and the location is just beautiful and busy. Its always a good sign that a breakfast location is busy around 8am. Their menu was very extensive with many different options. There was plenty of food items that I wanted to try but sadly, due to Lent, most of them included meat option. However, if you are a vegetarian, there are options for you too. My breakfast started with a good ole glass of Orange Juice. For my meal, I chose to have the Chilaquiles. The food was amazing. Each layer had plenty of flavor from cheeses and their fire roasted salsa. The sunny side up on top was delicious. Chips stayed crispy until near the end but we all know that this is always a race against time unless you like soggy chips. Overall, the service was friendly. Location was clean minus the bathrooms being down. I think there was basically a unisex bathroom since everything was broken. Bill was reasonable for the amount of food and the quality of the food. A few hiccups regarding our orders, but we had a rather big party, so I'm not putting the servers at fault. Went on a Saturday, rather busy so we called a few days prior to put in a reservation. We were not initially on the list until they saw another list on paper. We didn't wait long for a table, which was great. We got sat at the back of the restaurant, had plenty of room, but the sun was beaming through the windows, even with the shade, it was still rather warm. The three milks French toast was phenomenal, was my my personal favorite. My wife ordered the lemon blueberry pancakes and she was surprised how big they were. My one friend loved the bloody Mary's (with sausage/olives and pickles). My other friend loved the three milks (tres leches) French toast! It was tasty and sweet. We also split a no-yolk scrambler which was egg whites, avocado and seasoned tomato. Service was fast and there is a 90 minute limit per table. Prices are brunch prices; our total was over $100.00 for four people (plus tip). It did feel super crowded in the restaurant with tons of people (and narrow walkways). After waiting for a table for over 90 minutes, our group of 16 finally got seated....in 2 separate tables arrangements on separate sides of the restaurants! What? When asked after waiting specifically for a seating arrangement together, the hostess stated that they cannot take a party our size seated in one set up. Okay. Then why was another larger party seated 10 minutes later right next to us with one continuous seating arrangement. Waitress couldn't answer my question. We decided to leave. Asked to speak to the manager on our way to provide "feedback" and was met by the rudest man who could care less. Do not spend your hard-earned money here. I'd been craving biscuits and gravy. They had a normal version but I went for the chorizo biscuit and gravy. It pretty good. Couldn't get past half of it. Potatoes not crispy. That and eggs were a bit bland for me. My wife got the stuffed biscuit sandwich. The stuffed biscuit itself was a let down. The egg inside tasted off. We couldn't quite pin point why. We had lunch here. It is a bright, busy space with good service. We had pancakes, the apricot chicken panini, a fried chicken sandwich and the French toast from the kids menu. The food was all very good. Prices were high for the area and there are upcharges for a few items. My main issue is the ridiculously HUGE portions. For example the chicken panini was cut in half and each half was larger than a whole sandwich. No one finished their meal. Even the kids portion French toast was more than my three year old could eat in three meals. This restaurant is a great example of why there is an obesity epidemic in this Country. Unfortunately, we were not going straight home so we had to leave over half of our food. If you come here, bring a huge appetite or be sure you're headed home so you can take leftovers with you. I can't brag enough about this breakfast/brunch spot. First off it's gorgeous, and of course the food and drinks are excellent. They have a generous menu offering a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options. I love their fresh juices, and home made jelly. Not a big fan of their espresso drinks, a bit weak for me. The honey bun pancakes are unlike any pancakes I have ever had before. They're the perfect balance of sweet but not too heavy on the stomach. It's elevated goodness in every department, from the incredible Signature Bloody Mary (the marinated shrimp deserves it's own cocktail appetizer!) to the sweetened biscuits and french toast smothered in flavor. We all loved our entrees, but my own Red Rooster skillet had too little queso fresco and had so many sweet potatoes, that it either (A) needs some sort of salsa add-on to accommodate the "thickness" of the dish -- OR -- (B) mixing in some regular potatoes too (why not both, haha!) Buttermilk is such a yummy local spot! There is plenty of parking around the back and the vibes are super cute (very farmhouse chic). I love their menu and that they offer a full coffee bar and mimosas. I've never had a menu item here that wasn't delicious! My only gripe is the service. I came in today and they were steady, but there was no wait and the service was very slow. I've seen this place packed with a line out the door and have had quicker service. It was not a big deal today since I came to relax and chat with friends, but would be upset if I needed to get in and out in an hour (we stayed for almost 2).
