A longtime friend took me here for my birthday when I was going through the challenge of visiting my big sister at the hospital in Bayshore. He was staying out in East Long Island and was willing to drive my way to buy me breakfast. It was a great act of friendship on his part and boy did he pick a good breakfast place. Buttermilk's Kitchen is worthy of it's growing reputation. He's an architect, so I know the hip decor probably influenced his choice. But the food is the thing, and they delivered. Great spot, I highly recommend it. First of all, the seating was physically distanced enough to make it comfortable for me to sit indoors. I could relax because the staff, especially our waitress, all wore masks and so did all the customers I saw. Second, the pancakes were awesome. Huge menu, very impressive. I could explore for days. Quite a selection of pancakes at that. I went with blueberry. I was going for a short stack but wanted to add sausage. The kind waitress explained that meat only comes with it if you order a full stack of three - so I went for it. Hey, buy three and the meat is free is a slogan that works for me anytime. I don't remember many of the other details besides the great conversation. The waitress was definitely kind and helpful. I think the coffee was good. It feels like I've been waiting forever for this place to open up in Patchogue! Buttermilk Kitchen is a breakfast and lunch spot located in the heart of main street. I'm hoping that eventually they will work out the kinks with their service because it was extremely slow. We waited a good while before getting our drinks and our food. Now granted it was a packed day but I saw plenty of staff running around. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive though. The place is a lovely mix of farmhouse chic decor with unique cow pictures hanging up on the walls. I have to admit the food here is really good! You won't regret giving them a try. Their pancakes are probably some of the best I've ever had! However, they were so fluffy that I was full halfway through and couldn't finish them. Our food came out hot as well which is a super plus in my book! Definitely come give Buttermilk a try, they're a great establishment. This place is awesome! From the food choices to the restaurant's decor, I was so happy I finally got to try Buttermilk's. Located directly on Main St. in Patchogue, parking will probably cost $$. Street parking on the front and side of the restaurant are metered. The back lot is also metered. I usually hate going into Patchogue because of the parking, but this place was definitely worth the aggravation. The service was incredibly friendly. This place, like every other in Patchogue, will probably get very crowded. Due to a limited 50% indoor capacity, you might need to wait a while for a table. Limited outdoor seating is also available in front and on the side of the restaurant. My suggestion is to either come really early, or come later in the day during the week. I came at around 1:30pm on a Monday and only had to wait 5 minutes for a table. Masks are required for staff and customers. The prices are awesome. Definitely worth the $$. The drink choices were great. I chose a chocolate iced coffee. My milk for the coffee came in a mini milk pail which was so adorable! There are HUGE food portions and everything exceeded my expectations. The food was so delicious! I will be reviewing what I tried: -French Toast Bites: These are phenomenal! I ordered them as a starter for my group. We all enjoyed them. They come with a side, we chose sausage which was tasty. 5 out of 5 stars -The Fancy Pig Sandwich: So a sandwich that has goat cheese on it usually is an automatic choice for me. But also...this sandwich had mascarpone, sautéed onions, fig jam, and PULLED PORK on cinnamon butter brioche?!? A colossal sandwich! Can it honestly get any better? Delicious! Came here on a whim and what a great decision it was! Place is really clean, well maintained and has really nice decor. The food was great! I was receiving these ads in my FB stories about Buttermilk's Kitchen. The photos looked so delish that I told myself the next time I am in Patchogue I will have to give them a try for brunch. The time came and my husband, my daughter and myself gave them a try. It was a Monday so it wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. Tucker was our server and he really took good care of us. Everything was moderately priced. The menu had quite a few selections and also included lunch. We started off with coffee, a lattee with a shot of caramel and Piña mimosa. My daughter enjoyed the mimosa. The rim of the glass was dipped in toasted coconut. Not a favorite of my daughter, coconut, but she loved the drink. She ordered the homemade hash, with poached eggs and a biscuit. The hash and biscuit were very good. She was not happy with the two poached eggs. They were placed in a small narrow bowl that had some water in it. She would have emptied it on her plate but because of the water decided to try to scoop them out of the bowl. In doing so the yolk separated and partly mixed in the water in the bowl. My husband had a waffle with fresh blueberries and ham. He was very happy with his choice. I had the blueberry pancakes with crispy bacon and a side of scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese. The pancakes were so fluffy with blueberries inside and on top. These were the largest blueberries I have had in a long time. I did not give them 5 stars because of the eggs. read more

Third visit here after two so so previous reviews. I drive by the restaurant weekday mornings in a regular basis and have always seen the place packed so wanted to try again. Very nice experience this time, Great friendly service and delicious breakfast served quickly. Still a little annoying to pay extra for real maple syrup but it is what it is. Awful customer service! Waited 45 minutes for my food after the rest of my table was served (and they wsited 30 minutes). Was told they made the wrong food 3 times before getting mine correct! And was told that the owner was the chef! When they finally brought my food everyone else was ready to leave. They had the audacity to charge me! And was told rudely by the manager, "Well at least you got your food lady." NEVER AGAIN! They have no idea how to treat customers with respect. Any other restaurant would have taken the amount off as a sign of good faith. And BTW the service is SLOW!!!! So many breakfast/lunch places to eat. Do yourself a favor.....AVOID THIS ONE. Was not crispy. Everything was the same texture. SOGGY! The POG juice was a familiar item that I've had at other eateries. This one one of the "juices" was a syrup that was not mixed well at all in my drink. Watched the guy stir it with my straw. Huge lack of effort. Servers standing around and complaining openly about standing. Overall I don't see what the draw to come here would be. Food wasn't fresh or hot. Prices are not great. (Fake juice almost 10 bucks). Find somewhere else there are plenty of options around. Overall the place looked nice. Was quiet. I don't feel good writing this review hopefully it was an off day. Been eyeing this place for years. Today, I stopped in to get an answer to my question "Is this a good place to bring the grandkids for breakfast?" YES! Clean, roomy, assortment of chairs and tables, benches, lots of natural light, and adorable farm animal face, supersized, professional photographs adorn the walls. The basic pancakes even without the nice selection of various sides like turkey strips, (some call that bacon) orders are large, delicious and really filling. What really surprised me? My first time here I wish I can give a better review. If I we're only reviewing the waitress, she would get 5 stars. My breakfast was typical eggs, hash browns & bacon. Hash browns arrived cold, 2 strips of paper thin bacon. The fries on my wife's plate were spread thin to cover square inches of the plate. There we're hardly any fries to speak of. My wife's toast arrived about 10 minutes after our breakfast, and after asking twice. Frankly, my nutrishinest allowed me more calories for breakfast, than they gave me.
