We were planning to eat somewhere else but there was a much shorter wait here on a Sunday morning. The place isn't very large and the tables are close together. The food was pretty good. The prices were a appropriate for the portion and quality. My omelette was a large and tasty. The goat cheese was soooo good. We did not like the hash browns or my niece did not like apple juice. It definitely gets busy and they don't take reservations or call ahead so if you're going for breakfast plan to be there before 9AM. The waiter I had today was Kevin, who was awesome. Food is good at Buttermilk's Kitchen in Patchogue NY off of west Main Street. There's a good selection to choose from. They have a selection of cute cups. The menu notes limited substitutions and to check out the custom section. They charge a % for groups noted at bottom of menu. Outside is an interesting garbage can with lights on it. Hrs. Are. Posted on the door. The young lady that I had spoken with the day before when calling to see if reservations were needed, was charming. Jarrett as a waiter did something I liked. He knelt down with iPad in hand to take order. He knew the menu well and was able to assist in helping us choose our selections. The Classic French Toast with fruit on top made from brioche bread was tasty and fresh. It comes with one side and I got a little bowl of fruit salad. Extra sides as blueberries and others are 1.50 each. The Farm platter has eggs cheese yummy bacon, a bit of ham and a sausage. Our side were shredded hash browns well cooked with good texture. This location is handicapped accessible though be careful of the throw carpet inside. The decor is interesting with pix of goats, a pig and a cow and 3 chandeliers over long set tables. Now their water is tap and said to be filtered. Yuck! As for parking, the first young man told me it's street pay parking, so I parked nearby and paid the meter. Thing is either it was me or the meter and I couldn't get it to add extra time so I paid for an hour and then went out again to add more . Note here it will ask you for the Lot number look to the street sign for this section number. Also add the spot number and get the receipt to place in car window. Then after, our waiter told us there is free parking up the block to the right and left with the right side being a new area. They do have a bar there and it looked as if they have a machine to make fresh OJ. The bathroom was clean but, when I turned on the sink water to wash it made a loud rumbling sound. I ordered the Harvest Benedict Skillet, whose ingredients are roasted sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, Brussels sprouts and rosemary topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I have never eaten a poached egg and don't ever intend do. My parents always prepared fully-cooked eggs. Anything else would put me in danger of Salmonella poisoning, which my mother, a health care professional was cogNizant about. So I ordered scrambled eggs with a shredded white cheddar/ Monterey Jack mix, which was just ok. I wish they melted the cheese for better taste. Overall, the Harvest Benedict Skillet was tasty. It was so much food that I had to take some home. However, Gabi, my waitress, did not forewarn me that the skillet would be piping hot, so I singed my index finger on first touch. Ouch!!! We arrived at Buttermilk's before it opened and there was already a line out of the door waiting to be seated. My daughter and I chose seats at the counter and were greeted warmly immediately. As the restaurant filled up during our visit, we enjoyed that it was lively without being obnoxiously loud. My daughter loved watching the juicer make her fresh juice from the counter. The butter pecan iced macchiato was flavorful without being overly sweet. I liked that the menu included all of the diner breakfast classics, but each item seemed to be upgraded a bit. The quality of the ingredients and the flavors of the classic breakfast staples justify the slightly higher prices than your local diner. My daughter ordered a pancake with bacon and fresh strawberries off the calves' menu while I opted for the Egg in a Hole breakfast with hash browns and an upgraded side of corned beef hash. The food arrived quickly and was very tasty. I took off one star from our review because the hash browns and the corned beef hash were both tasty, but overly salty for my liking which made it difficult to finish. I've been busy over the past few weeks. Once I got back into my normal Saturday morning routine of dropping off dry cleaning and car maintenance, I knew Buttermilk's Kitchen would be a breakfast stop for me. Sure I wrote a review when they first opened. I wanted to write another one just explaining how much I enjoying dining here on the weekends. I must mention they have a fresh juice machine at the bar. I love freshly squeezed OJ in the morning! My waitress comes to me, everything turn out ok? I said the OJ needs a little Vodka but other than that, peachy! I ordered a short stack as well. Did you know Buttermilk's Kitchen has their own blend of pancake mix? A short stack is just the right amount for me and the pancakes are pretty tasty. Also, no fake syrup packets but syrup in a jar. I hate those damn packets. I had an enjoyable meal once again at Buttermilk's Kitchen. If you haven't dined here, give them a try. Yeah, this place is just okay. I've been here twice now and both times the food wasn't great. There's a decent selection and the ambience is neat, it's that they just don't deliver when it comes to food. Also, I have a pet peeve about places that don't offer decaf espresso drinks (especially a breakfast place!). There's no reason for a place like this, with a lot of drink and even alcohol options, to not offer the same specialty coffees in decaf. It's just bad business. My most recent visit included French Toast bites that were either made with leftover bread or were microwaved. They were crispy in a not so great way, almost crouton-like. Very uneven, some were too hard to bite and others were soft like you expect French toast to be. Also both my husband's and my sausages were weird... one being almost burn and the other being almost undercooked. Sorry, but I have given it two chances and I won't be returning again. read more

Just visited this restaurant today. The restaurant had a long wait due to it being Mother's Day which was expected. I took my mother and sister out to eat for Mother's Day. The service started out great, the waitress was attentive and suggested things which I greatly appreciate. This review does not negatively reflect her. She was very polite and patient. The waitress promptly brought over a carafe of water and some glasses filled with ice. Within 5 minutes of sitting down my sister was drinking her water while reviewing the menu and she said she felt something crunchy in her water that was not ice. When she spit it out it happened to be small shards of glass (see attached picture). We immediately notified the waitress who apologized profusely and notified her manager. The manager came over within 5 minutes and apologized and comped french toast bites which was a nice gesture. All of our food arrived within 20 minutes of ordering which is great. New waters were placed on the table in different glasses than the ones that were originally brought over. The food quality was great and tasted amazing which is the reason why even despite the glass mishap I couldn't give them 1 star. My sister ordered a burger medium well and received it medium rare-- minor issue but considering the bigger issue they really should have been trying to avoid mistakes imo. In the end the bill came and I was honestly very shocked to see that not even one additional thing besides the French toast bites that no one wanted were comped. I totally understand accidents happen and the glass situation was probably an extremely rare occurrence but I spent over 10 years working in luxury hospitality and I don't think enough was done to rectify the situation. Glass being in someone's drink is extremely concerning-- not to mention lawsuit worthy. It killed the mood for everyone at the table because we all immediately felt mistrusting of everything else that came to the table from that point on. At the very least my sister's food should have been comped as a courtesy to show proper accountability. According to the waitress the glass my sister drank out of was broken. I understand it being busy but chipped glasses or broken glass should be properly disposed of and not put in circulation that is something that should be frequently reviewed to ensure situations like this don't occur. I totally understand that this restaurant is not any of the many Michelin starred restaurants I frequent in Manhattan but checking glasses after they're cleaned is a very basic practice across the board. This restaurant really dropped the ball and as a result has lost any potential referral on my part or repeat business. read more

I ordered an ice tea with passion orange and guava juice. Unfortunately it tasted more than medicine than ice tea. Instead of juice mix it tasted very syrupy. Both hubby and i ordered an omelette. His was a selection off the menu and it was fully stuffed. I made my own omelette and was pretty disappointed on how lackluster it was. It was good but i wish they used more stuffing inside. I've heard such good things about Buttermilk's Kitchen and was so excited I finally got to try it last time I was in town! I met a friend here for brunch and we came at the perfect time- right after the breakfast rush and right before the lunch rush. We were seated quickly and greeted by our awesome server who gave us plenty of time to choose what we wanted since I'm so indecisive and the menu is huge! Buttermilk boasts an absurd amount of pancake options- each wounding more delicious than the last. Although these pancakes looked incredible, I opted for a more savory option and got the Butcher Block omelette. This meal was HUGE. The omelette was surely sizable and it came with a side of hash browned potatoes and a buttermilk biscuit! My friend got the Cupcake pancakes, and I was super impressed with the flavor of these fluffy pancakes when I tried a bite! Always love finding good brunch spots and this is definitely one of them on Long Island! We got there around 12 and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table which wasn't too bad considering it was a weekend. I ordered the Classic French Toast with strawberries. I usually order something savory (like eggs) but decided to go with a sweet brunch item. The French toast was so good - it wasn't too sweet and had just the right amount of cinnamon spice. I didn't need to add any syrup on top and it was just perfect and fluffy! We also did get the Chicken and Waffles which is also another brunch classic. The chicken was fried perfectly and wasn't dry at all - still had a juiciness to it. They cover the rim of the glass in everything but the bagel seasoning and it made the whole drink. I could relax because the staff, especially our waitress, all wore masks and so did all the customers I saw. Second, the pancakes were awesome. Huge menu, very impressive. I could explore for days. Quite a selection of pancakes at that. I went with blueberry. I was going for a short stack but wanted to add sausage. The kind waitress explained that meat only comes with it if you order a full stack of three - so I went for it. Hey, buy three and the meat is free is a slogan that works for me anytime.
