Hauppage Palace Diner is one of those classic diners that gets everything right. The staff is always welcoming and on top of things, and the service moves quickly, even when the place is packed. The menu is huge, but everything I've tried has been fresh, well cooked, and not typical " diner shortcut" food you find at other spots. Portions are generous, prices are fair in the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a diner. It's comfortable, clean, and easy-going. It's the kind of place you can stop by for anything: breakfast, a late lunch, or a random late night craving and you know you're going to get a solid meal. Overall, it's always a reliable stop and easily a five star spot in the area.

Hubby hasn't been to the diner in over 20 years and had to stop in when we were visiting the area. The diner is spotless and the staff friendly. We were seated right away. Our waitress was attentive and talked us into the specials. Thank you!!!! On a side note, the bathrooms are clean and actually smell good We ordered the lunch specials which include a drink, soup or salad, entree and dessert. A steal at under $20! We were in the mood for Greek and we got a gyro and chicken souvlaki. I was really happy with my souvlaki. Normally it's chunks of chicken with shredded lettuce and chopped tomatoes but this came with chicken, sauteed peppers and onions and tomatoes. So good and so flavorful. Hubby was eyeing my dish but he was happy with his gyro. The tzatziki sauce was definitely fresh and homemade and delicious! The pea soup was so creamy and warm and the salad came with all the fixings. Finally we took our chocolate chip cookies to go but they also offered pudding, ice cream and some other choices. We were served ultra fast which we needed as we were heading to a funeral. We had a great experience and highly recommend.

Clean, friendly staff and tasty food. Whatever they put in the pancake batter, it's delish! I devoured the Oreo pancakes. Great portions too. We def took home leftovers!

This is my favorite diner! The food is always fresh, and the recent renovation looks great. The "Snackatser" platter is awesome, wings, mozzarella sticks, tenders, and poppers. The side salad is the perfect size, and the burger is massive even too big for one adult to finish. Grilled chicken was cooked perfectly. Highly recommend!

Onion rings were great, fries hot and tasty, the best turkey burger around, and a strong, bold decaf coffee.

The diner is bright and airy with plenty of seating. My wife and I stopped in for brunch on our way home from shopping. If you are a fan of mid-century modern decor, do not forget to check out the overhead lighting. Upon entering we were seated at a small but comfortable booth near the counter. Our waitress was a delight! I ordered the turkey burger and fries with a decaffeinated coffee. The burger was huge, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The fries were hot and tasty. The coffee was strong, hot, and satisfying. The Takeaways 1. The turkey burger was one of the best I have ever had. 2. If you like strong coffee, this diner is the place. 3. Plenty of parking. 4. Huge menu 5. Excellent bang for the buck! Final thoughts... If in the area and you are hungry, great place for a quick meal.

We tried the Boston Cream Pie & Napoleon. They all look very tasty!

We really enjoyed the fajitas and quesadilla! The service was excellent! The outside and inside were very clean and festive! If, you're traveling! Stop here for a bite to eat!

Came for breakfast at this old fashioned diner. It has a very large parking lot, plenty of room in the diner and an extensive menu. The restaurant is a bit dated, including the bathrooms, but clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and our waitress was very, very attentive filling the coffee and waters regularly. The food served had large portions but a bit bland. The coffee was very good with nice heavy mugs. The ketchup was a bit odd. It didn't taste like Heinz, much sweeter but maybe it was a different Heinz variety. The standout here is definitely the service. The service was so good it made the food less bland.

Last Monday I took my two grandsons had lunch there and the kids love the spogate finger wings and burgers. We all love the foods and services received! Thank You Palace Diner!

Jeanne waited on us. She was extremely friendly outgoing and kind. She answered any of our questions about the menu and made some drink suggestions. Our food was served very quickly and the portions are huge. My son had a hungry man burrito and I had the Mac and cheese short ribs. I took home my Mac and cheese short rib and I am on my 3rd attempt at finishing it! My son's burrito was so large I wasn't sure how he was going to get that in his mouth. He was able to eat most of it. The home fries were nicely prepared and seasoned well! Our drink glasses were never empty. I watched the staff and they were constantly engaging with customers. You felt like you were visiting a friend's home. I watched them celebrate someone's birthday, greet regular customers and every customer was given a warm acknowledgment. This place deserves all the hype it receives and I'm sad it has taken me so long to try it!

I was planning on leaving then. I was a waiter once for many years, so I get it.. the tough, long hours. Some waiters have 2nd jobs.. The glares and side talk I received was so unnecessary. Again, I priorly asked the hostess and waiter if it was okay I sit for 20 min. Before they close. I feel like I want to puke now. Idc about professional service, or whatever it's called. I communicated that I would've found another place if they just told me that they're not taking sitters. Not nice. Never returning again. Edit: The reason why I felt like puking was because I was glared at while feeling bad about scarfing down my meal faster than I anticipated. Someone from the joint reached out (I presume the manager?).. said he witnessed it all. What a joke. -1 star

My husband ordered the omelette with bacon, tomato, cheese and scallions and I ordered the Texas burger. Both delicious! My husband did mention the steep price for the medicore sized omelette but he said it was still delicious. My burger was worth every penny so no complaints there but the prices are a bit high for what you get. They only accept debit cards and cash which is noted on their menu. I'll definitely be back.

Then, the menu got smaller, and it seemed a tad high-priced, so we tried some other places. My husband still went to Candlelight with his friends for breakfast, but we were getting attached to two other local eateries. Last night we decided to go back to Candlelight, and what a GREAT choice! They're still bringing little tidbits "on the house" to start you off, where other places have eliminated that, and the portion sizes of the main courses FAR EXCEED the prices! My duck was the size of a moose, (ok, a baby moose), and my husband's meatballs and spaghetti featured four HUGE meatballs, and a perfect amount of mozzarella. Their challah bread basket is better than a bakery, and whatever was in that basket with the challah (banana bread?) could win a prize at a state fair. There's a pretty nice choice of sides, but one thing I would like to see is a less -starchy vegetable besides broccoli or sauteed string beans, maybe just steamed carrots and string beans. The dinner specials come with coffee and dessert. And, good news! The menu is back to being rather extensive. Of course, no restaurant would be great without a great wait staff. I'll put it this way... Ask for Marie! TY also to the owner Nick for coming over, and to the very personable manager, making this a "we'll be back soon" experience.
