I had this place bookmarked for a while and we decided to give it a try this morning. Outside, the place is in need of a landscape. But we weren't put off for long because the inside was so cute and felt like a small town restaurant. The holiday decor was adorable as well. But that's where our positive experience ends. We were sat quickly and the server came to take our order. Sorry, but she was awful. The place was busy and she was inattentive. We ordered and couldn't eat when the food arrived because we were missing butter for the pancakes and dressing for our salad. The food was terrible. We ate most of our avocado toast but the grits were a waste of money. We didn't get a chance to say anything to the server because she was nowhere to be found when we needed her. Not even when it came to paying for the check. Bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. Very rarely do I give a poor review but today's experience certainly warrants it. read more

15+ years ago, Sweet Mama's was rather forlorn and so was their food. But as of 2024 they 've completely turned things around. The food is now consistently very good, fresh, and with generous portions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their big breakfast combo platter is wonderful and a huge bargain compared to the measly servings of nearby diners. At dinnertime, their old-fashioned favorites include meatloaf, fried chicken, Thanksgiving-style turkey platters - - - even chicken fried steak. And the salad that comes with these entrees is the biggest, loveliest starter salad you'll find anywhere. Desserts are all fresh and amply-sized. Their carrot and chocolate cakes are big enough for two to share. Really bummed about this spot, I feel like sweet mamas has gone down hill in the last few years. This location in particular was rough from the start, the water was gross. I thought it was the straw or the cup at first, I asked the waiter for different water or a bottle of water but the waiter said "everyone complains about the water, we don't have any substitutes". What??? LOL. That's so concerning. Especially since you use that to clean dishes & mix in with the food. The food itself was subpar, service was mid. Anddd for all that the food was overpriced. I was in the area and hungry. I saw this place and it looked good, so I stopped in. It's a country style place with that Mayberry vibe. I was told I could sit anywhere as it wasn't crowded at 10:05 AM. By 10:30 it was packed. The service was good. The host gave me menus for breakfast & lunch. I decided on my favorite breakfast, cheddar cheese omelette. My meal was delivered in very good time. The omelette was large with a lot of cheese. I also received a generous order of fries, along with rye toast. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the amount of food you get, as well as the high quality. What happened to the sweet mama's who cared about their charm, and most definitely the quality of food? Past year or so the food is being delivered to the table cold, pancakes over cooked, pancakes! The servers who seem sweet, give generic apologies that don't cut it. Also notice inside of the restaurant is being let go and run down. DO better owner of this neighborhood loved eatery. Invest some money into fixing and also training or hiring experienced cooks who CARE. I frequent here enough to say all of this with care and HOPE they make these changes. Even within the breakfast menu, there is a diversity of both sweet and savory options. I ordered the south beach omelet, hoping it would be a bit on the lighter side. It was delicious, but a lot heavier than I was expecting. As far as sides, the home fries were fantastic, and the biscuits were outstanding - light and fluffy, with flavor-packed gravy on the side. When you get to sweet mamas the inside has sweet southern feel to it, and the hostess and waitstaff are very nice and patient because when looking through that menu everything looks delicious and it taste so good too! I got a hot coffee and it was really nice that they give you a mini hot carafe with it so you don't have to keep asking to refill the coffee. (Super smart, and convenient). I ordered the special which was a burger on Texas toast with bacon and eggs Benedict on top wam bam thank you mam. This protein packed burger was delicious. The big daddy with pancakes, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage,and Fries is perfect for the person who doesn't know what to order and has everything on one plate and yes it was good, the Reuben was the perfect meat to cheese to sauerkraut ratio with thousand island dressing and sooo buttery good (Cole slaw was eh they need an upgrade). Both were so meh to blech. The avocado toast came on hearty grainy bread, well toasted, smeared with a somewhat chunky avocado spread, a heavy drizzle of chipotle sauce, and topped with chopped bacon. The bread was toasted but soggy... how? No apparent seasoning to the speard... Zero. Sure you might think, flavor will come from drizzle, but that's not true, the drizzle doesn't bring enough to the dish or make the avocado pop without it being seasoned first. Bacon - was greasy heavy tasting... not crispy and bright... more no pop. No balance to the dish. Avocado toast is not simply avocado on toast folks, it is supposed to be a balance of flavors and textures that start with the avocado. The chicken fried steak itself was unremarkable, the sausage gravy is more sliced sausage water heft or spice, but super loose and just salty. The biscuit was something else.... gummy, and pasty, with no flakiness at all. The grits... Could not, did not have more than a spoonful. Oily and heavy aftertaste. read more

Happy to be new to the neighborhood and first stop was Sweet Mamas, a really nice spot which has a classic dinette themed vibe, in what looks like a historic house that has a really homey vibe. We walked in for breakfast around 9am on Sunday, no wait, had an intimate table near the breakfast bar and took a look at the menu. They have a wonderful selection of choices, and the food choice word that comes to mind is "hearty". Heavy big dishes, lots of omelettes, French Toast, Specials, Latte's and Waffles. Went with the Eggs Benedict which was very good, lots of potatoes come with it too, and we left filled and satisfied. Big plus if you order a coffee it comes with a big coffee pot that you can do refills yourself and not have to search for a waitress. Great spot for breakfast, will most likely return. read more

She came over and took our orders as soon as we sat down. She suggested the caramel apple cider mimosa for our flight. Great suggestion! It was sooooo good! My friend got the Brussels waffles with a huge serving of vanilla ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream. The waffle was so fresh and fluffy! I ordered the funky monkey. Graham encrusted French toast with Nutella and bananas. It comes drizzled in chocolate but I asked for no chocolate.
