Awesome Baltimore neighborhood spot. Friendly service!! Full of local characters and cheap drinks

This is your quintessential neighborhood dive bar. I have never been here as I have heard mixed reviews from locals, but decided to stop by with my friends who live near the area. First of all, the bartender was extremely friendly. Their soda tap was really dirty so when I mentioned it to her, she was so really kind about it. They have Jell-O shots here which are dangerous but fun and they have a digital jukebox as well as a pool table. The pool tables is a scarcity in Balitmore so I was really happy to be able to play pool. Oh they also have a digital lottery machine where they take debit. It's so fun! read more

LOVED butts and Betty's. This is a classic dive and truly a gem. They have scratch off lotto which was really fun, and one pool table in the back that we were actually able to play on! Butt's and Betty's Tavern earned a star just on the name alone. This is a dive bar and it is not ashamed to be just that. From the lottery scratchers and tacky decorations, you can feel the crushed dreams and rehabilitation. There is a decent pool table, flat screen televisions, and sound system that plays a wide variety of music. Blessing them with three stars is all that a proper dive bar could ask for. This is the best dive bar in Butchers Hill. It has zero ambience, and looks like the kind of place my parents drank at in the 80s with their bowling league. And I mean all of that as a deep and sincere compliment. Drinks are cheap and super strong. I took one sip of my Jack and Coke, and my date, from across the pool table, got a whiff of my breath and said, "Wow." Also, there is a pool table, directly under one of those old Miller Light Beer signs, which gives a certain fluorescent mood lighting vibe. Hot tip: you have to have quarters to play, but the bar will make change for you. This is the kind of place where you can sit on a bar stool and get to know your neighbor, or possibly interrupt a fight between aggressively drunk people, depending on the evening. read more

Literally the definition of your local neighborhood bar. The energy and vibe is great for a place to grab a cold one after work. Such a dive bar. People from all walks of life and there and the staff has always been so friendly and accommodating. The drinks and service is full of love. There is one pool table which is usually occupied. Expecting Dirtier With an establishment named Butts and Betty's you expect a real dingy Dive bar, but that isn't the case here. It's pretty modern, bright, and clean which to me is disappointing. Out of the way but close to everything, Butts and Betty's is one of the few original neighborhood corner bars still holding it down with a 6 am opening time. The place has quite a lot in common with Southside Saloon, except that the decor has actually been updated since the Vietnam era. It's actually a pretty nice crappy bar: no drop ceilings, no linoleum floors, etc. It's so ooh-la-la the regulars even drink Yuengling. If you end up there, go ahead and order a Lager for yourself. Came in on a friends word that the best Bloody Mary's in Baltimore are here...well let's say it fell way short of expectations. My blood pressure is through the roof right now! Good flavor but salty as ****! So much had to wash it down with a beer. I didn't order food here but not certain that I would. I'm not keen on coming back, but this place does have the potential for epic people watching in the later hours. If you're looking for divey joints...then this is the place to come to. Butts & Betty=Dying Breed There was a time not that long ago that most bars in fells point/canton were like Butts & Betty: cheap fun and genuine. All too often now it's a sanitized version of the past. Bars/Pubs/Taverns now are predicated on some well meaning but poorly executed concept. As Harbor East creeps toward Fells Point it seems more like Georgetown in DC. You know places with $18 burgers made from cows who lived on a farm next to a stream and people read poetry to them before they were slaughtered. I went to B&B after the O's opening day game. We were greeted by about 7 people in the bar. Which included a 75 year old women. I don't mention this to make fun of her but to illustrate why you have to love Baltimore. Heather was the bartender. She's on top of what you need and is great to talk too. If you want to avoid the new faux-baltimore or just need to get it out of your system report to Butts & Bettys immediately. Doesn't get better than this Baltimore institution. Owned by the same family for 80+ years, this bar remains unpretentious despite its notoriety, nor resentful due to its infamy amongst the "new" neighbors. Heather, one of their bartenders who represents the bar well being hard nosed, seen it all, no nonsense, no frills, and welcomes everyone for a drink. Maybe one day the bar will use its 6am license again, and open to playful hooligans coming back from a night of raving. Hope springs eternal. read more

If you wanna get your dive on in Balmore Hon, then Butt's & Betty's is where you wanna be. The drinks are cheap, they pour MASSIVE shots (served flaming upon request), they open at 6am, (no that wasn't a typo, I said 6 AM), and they stay open until 2 AM. This wonderfully dive'y little corner bar has a jukebox in the front, video slot machines in the middle, a pool table in the back, and its colorful working class local crowd who often break out in mostly friendly arguments makes sure that there's never a dull moment. They make the claim that they have the coldest, cheapest Yuengling drafts in Baltimore. And their proudest claim to fame is that back in 2010 they made The Baltimore Sun's 28th Best Bar in Baltimore! This is one of thee dive bars to hit if you want to have a good time, there is never a dull moment. The bartenders rock, they mix some spectacular shots, and are very friendly. Butt's and Betty's Tavern has a pool table, skee-ball, scratch offs, and I want to say Pack Man or some type of arcade game (my memory is a little fuzzy after the heavily poured shots). The prices are decent, the small personal pizzas are tasty, and if you need a cab the bartenders know which taxi service to call based on the urgency for you or fellow patrons evening farewell. Since they only serve small pies and small items from the menu, I am pretty sure you are able to bring your own food or order delivery. I know on one of my visits in there was a party going on and everyone was friendly and invited me to join the party and eat the food they had brought. I would have loved to but, I was meeting a friend and didn't have time to indulge in any of the homemade meals. I'm sure it was some of the finest Baltimore eats because it smelled great. Butt's and Betty's is a fun local spot that most would overlook, but it's one of those fine diamonds in the rough that you will grow to love. read more

So we found this place on Yelp in our search for dive bars. We made our way over there on Saturday night. When we first got there we were extremely disappointed that there were only two other people in there HOWEVER, we were lucky to get to meet the daughter of the owners. A sweetheart named Cindy. Cindy was AWESOME. She told us all of her favorite places nearby with lots or recommendations of things to see while walking around. She even tossed me a t-shirt to remember them. We felt bad leaving her alone to venture out but she encouraged us to get out and see the area. We planned on heading back there on Sunday but the timing didn't work out. We will definitely make our way back to see this place in action. read more

Well, not much to say about this place. Definitely a solid dive bar down the street from my house. The beer options are limited with 4 taps, Miller, Coors, Boh and Lager. I would not come here to experience good, solid beers; however, I would come here to meet some of Baltimore's finest locals. The music they had on the juke box was decent enough but it was loud. The bartenders are nice and efficient. They do offer small food items such as pizza and peanut butter cups...What?!?! This past visit I did notice that they sell take-out brews including COBRA 40s...oof, that could lead to a tough morning. This is a wonderful place. The bartenders always treat you well... I felt like a regular my first time here. I also like that you can go for a boh and get documents notarized by one of the bartenders (she is a notary public). They also have lottery tickets and scratchers for sale as well as packaged goods. Cindy makes the best Bloody Mary!!! She says it's the love she puts into it that makes it so good. I tend to believe her. You will not come across a nicer, super ginuwine bar owner in the world. Wow! How has no one reviewed good 'ol Butt's? Here's the deal, it's a dive, plain and simple. It opens at 8 am; 6am on Sundays during football season. The liquor is moderately priced, and the girls behind the bar pour MASSIVE shots. There is an insanely diverse crowd and there is never a dull moment. If you're a Ravens fan, this is the place to be for the game. Some of the most die hard, shit talkin' folks come here to watch the games. It's a shit show. I hate the Ravens, so I like to quietly cheer for the other team. read more
