We have had some weird experiences at this Buy Buy Baby, but yesterday's interaction with the purple-highlighted checkout woman definitely was the rudest. I was buying an Easter outfit and bunny for my newborn daughter, and she started talking to me about how awesome it was for me to be a...wait for it...GRANDMA. This was after I told her I was buying the items for MY DAUGHTER. I'm not sure if she misheard me or is just not intelligent enough to ascertain a person's actual age, but I would have had to be fourteen or fifteen when I gave birth to have a child old enough to make me a grandmother. I'm in my thirties, and I have dark brown hair and very few wrinkles. Nothing about me screams GRANDMA. I don't even know a single thirtysomething grandmother. Even Lorelai Gilmore wasn't a grandma. Even after I corrected her ("I'm not the grandma; I'm the MOTHER."), she kept going on and on about how I must understand all this grandma-related stuff. "You get all the sweet stuff and none of the hard work, right?" she said. "No, I don't. I'm knee-deep in two a.m. feedings and spit-up. I am the definition of hard work right now." So basically, this is why people just order stuff off Amazon. To avoid rude salespeople who don't know how to take a hint and instead double-down on insulting comments. I imagine she's the type of person who likes to ask you how far along you are when you're not even pregnant. Same mentality. In a nutshell, it ruined my day and I cried all the way to my house and then some more when I got home to my husband and children. What could have been a nice, cute shopping experience was ruined by an incredibly rude and tactless person, not even trying to read the damn room. read more

March 15,20 I called ahead of time today to ask if they had the Babyganics foaming hand sanitizer I was told there was some and that there was a limit of 3 per customer since the virus. I COMPLETELY understand! I drove 25 minutes to get to this location and found the product also bought a few other stuff. When I was checking out there was two Hispanic girls at the checkout lane. The one who checked me out checked out my stuff and commented to the other girl "bro really? ... what a coincidence" as they both looked at each other and laughed. This is really rude to me the fact that I know what's going on right now and they might think that I'm doing too much by buying 3 hand sanitizers BUT, you would do the same if you had a child who can easily get sick because baby's defense systems are lower than adults. TO ADD ON, my baby has eczema which BY DOCTORS ORDERS that's the only hand sanitizer his poor skin can have and not get an allergic reaction. This really frustrated me but I didn't want to make a big deal and have everyone look at us. I sticked around once I had gotten my stuff to hear if they'd say something else because at that point I really wasn't having it. Of course they did not and changed the conversation. My point is why have workers who have no respect for their customers and the customer's KIDS which is what this store is all about. I will no longer be going to this location. read more

I just wanted to give an update on a large-purchase experience with this store. We ordered a crib and dresser set here last month and since it was on backorder, we were just called last week that it had arrived. We set up delivery for the very next day and the two guys who came were the best delivery/install people I've ever met. 1) They were on time and called ahead to let me know they had left the store. 2) They were careful with the move. The dimensions of the dresser coupled with the tight corners on our staircase made for a treacherous move up to the second floor, but they managed to get it up in one piece without damaging the walls. 3) Throughout the delivery, they were very curteous and friendly. Upon putting together the crib, they made sure to explain how to make future adjustments. Then, they helped me rearrange the room layout as we determined looked best. 4) They cleaned up everything - took all the boxes and packaging with them. 5) They didn't expect or even want a tip. I actually tried to tip them - especially given the effort with the dresser - but they refused to take it. All in all, I was very impressed with the customer service from store to home. read more

I live up north, and we don't have a Buy Buy Baby up here. So, I went to Babies r Us first and found the place to be unappealing and chaos. I finally decided to make the trip down south and I was THRILLED that I did. The registry people were super helpful. They mentioned that if we wanted, we could make an appointment with a consultant to show us around the store. We didn't know that, so we thought we would go at it alone. In the end, I decided you really didn't need a consultant of your own because there were people there to help every time you turned around! We must have been helped by 5-6 people while we were there. Question about strollers.... here comes someone! Question about high chairs... lady shows up to help! We never had to look far and they were always asking us for help. The layout of the store is also great and makes it easy to navigate. Just like Bed Bath and Beyond, you can walk in a big circle and not miss anything. A lot of baby need items! Wish there was one in San Antonio. I'm still old fashion and like to see what I'm buying before committing to something which you can't get online. They have a lot of furniture options and carriers/strollers. We already purchased the stroller and carrier we wanted after a lot of research online. They also had a few recliner. Not sure how the quality of the furniture holds up compared to other places. I think price wise you can always find items for cheaper on amazon now days but for convenience it's a great store. It was nice to have a parking spot saving for mother's-to-be as well. read more

One of the most unhelpful stores I have ever been to. The workers here seem to stare at you when you walk in instead of offer a greeting. There's never anyone around to help you, you have to hunt people down and they seem more intent on doing other things than asking if you need help. I love this store! Being a first time stay at home mom, I find myself in here all too often but it's never a pain or bothersome trip. This store far surpasses the alternative chain baby store and makes your entire shopping experience so much better. Every single time I walk into this store I am greeted by friendly faces. Additionally, as I'm strolling down the wonderfully organized and bright aisles, I'm always asked if I need help with anything- wow coming here from BRU (aka the other store) is like night and day! This store has(in my opinion) better quality products and selection to choose from than your alternative and still has several budget friendly products. Recently I decided to become a cloth diapering mother and was pleasantly surprised to see their large selection of cloth diapers with 5 different brands( Bum Genius, Grovia , G diapers, Flip, Charlie banana & a few of what seemed to be leftover Dr.Seuss special addition Bumkins brand diapers). I only wish they carried another option of prefold cloth diapers other than just the gerber and dundee brand, however I know most different brands are only available online or in specialty boutiques so I'm not suprised. All in all I would highly recommend this store for a big registry over any other big name stores! 10/14/2019 Post baby shower review. Shower date 9/28/2019: Pros: They really are the same price as Target and Amazon. The only thing I found cheaper on Amazon was the carseat and they gladly price matched. Cons: We have yet to receive seven items on our registry, that were purchased before our shower. I called their customer service line yesterday to find out that two of the items (both bottle sets) were returned by the delivery service and that BuyBuy issued a refund? The agent could not explain why this was done, but bottles are a necessity. It would've been nice to have been contacted to see if anything else could be done. I'm not going to ask my friend if they'll buy them again, especially with this situation arising the first time. I guess I'll just be out of pocket, and I definitely will not be going through BuyBuy to purchase them. FYI, my friend still hasn't gotten a refund. It's irritating and I feel like there's just no accountability there. All boxes, that were not filled solid, and plastic packing bags came with contents completely crushed. My guests were very embarrassed when we opened their BBBaby package to see in inner packaging destroyed. They also did not put labels on or in most items, letting us know who they were from. When I called, they said that there is a place to look online. However, it would've been nice to know that information when opening the gift. In regards to all cons, Amazon and Target did a far superior job, everything came with a gift receipt and no packages arrived crushed. So, I now have an adorable niece and 1,343,267 friends with babies (at last count), and I find myself in baby stores on a fairly regular basis. Whereas Babies R KillMeNow makes me want to violently stab my eyeballs out, Buy Buy Baby merely makes me want to gently remove a fingernail, perhaps even with the assistance of a soothing local anesthetic. It's more cheery, stocked with a much larger selection of cute things, and they take Bed Bath & Beyond coupons (because they're owned by Bed Bath & Beyond). Yes, it is still next to impossible to find anybody to assist you, but once you do, the employees are actually able to assist you (unlike Babies R KillMeNow, where the employees themselves haven't the faintest clue where anything is, nor does it generally occur to them to care). Best solution: order your baby stuff online or buy from a small, local store. But if you need a superstore, Buy Buy Baby is The One. read more

As my spawn is fast outgrowing the moniker Baby, I don't have as many things to shop for here. But they carry a good selection of some organic baby food pouches (the ones you can throw in your purse so your kid can suck them down like a milkshake without having to deal with any additional equipment) and other organic brand foods. My husband and I had a blast in Buy Buy Baby creating our registry this weekend. They are owned by or have the same owner as Bed, Bath and Beyond and the layout is similar. This makes it super easy to go into each of the departments and find everything you need for bath time, feeding, nursery etc. The staff was friendly and helpful, but not pushy. They made themselves known in the departments where people typically have more questions (strollers, cribs...ah!), but then back off to let you look around. Then when you have a question, they are extremely knowledgeable and show you all the bells and whistles of their products. It was great to get hands on with everything. Prices are comparable to Babies R Us. Some items were even a bit cheaper. I highly recommend you going to Buy Buy Baby if you are expecting. read more

In the last few months since I've had my baby, Buy Buy Baby has totally stepped up their customer service. Some of the staff even remember me when I go in there. They are helpful, available and nice. Again, I still am not a fan of Babies R Us, unhelpful people and so much more expensive. A diaper cream I use costs $2 more at Babies R Us, so Buy Buy Baby is a much better buy. I will say, I'm still not enamored with their registry. I got 4 copies of one book I registered for. There are still quite a few bugs corporate needs to work out there. I went here today to return some items I got for my baby shower about 2-3 months ago it took me a while because I live in north Austin this location is about an hour away from me. So I got to return Johnson and johnsons products because my son is allergic to them. So I didn't have any receipts which I lost in the process (and I used to work at bed bath and beyond) so I know how their return policy works. So I also had a baby monitor to return so she goes to the computer and whispers to another employee and whispers "she didn't get these from here she's lying" first of all that is horrible customer service. Then she proceeds to get a manager and he comes up and only wants to give me $50 for a baby monitor worth $200 which I didn't buy but still wasn't fair to only get $50 back. This place has horrible customer service and is way to over priced I will never be shopping here ever again. Then she only took 2 of my products and I only got $8 back in store credit. Which was not right I just took it cause I was done with the situation. And so I did call corporate and told them what happened I am very disappointed. read more

My husband and I visited this location over Labor Day weekend. We were in town for the weekend visiting family and wanted to take the opportunity to visit a Buy Buy Baby since we live over 5 hours away from the closest one. We were in this particular store right at closing time and one of my selections was a breast pump, the Medela Sonata, which had a special for a $40 coupon with the purchase per the sign (presumably to compete with the Amazon price). We checked out as the store closed and completely forgot about the coupon. The next morning we called the store and spoke with Brian who was incredibly helpful. As we made our way around the store, we came across the strollers and wanted to check out the stroller that we registered for. I wish I caught her name but we were asked if we had any questions or needed help by a very kind young lady. We asked about the stroller and she explained and demonstrated all of the features of the stroller. Very helpful since this is our first baby. As we made our way out we came across the discounted item section and there was our stroller that had been ordered online and taken back to the store unopened and half the price. Because of my job and my passion I love to give earth friendly baby gifts. It can get pretty expensive and I saw a new baby store so I decided to check it out to see what they had to offer, especially if I could find a deal. First the selection here is crazy! Just tons of stuff. It is very much like it's parent company Bed Bath & Beyond, where it can be overwhelming and you will find stuff you NEVER thought you needed before. I was excited to know you could use your (seems like daily) 20% BBB coupon you get in the mail. But you need it, I thought everything was priced pretty high. Since I was looking for something specific it would have been nice to have some help but no one bothered to talk to me. I did find some books made from recycled paper SCORE, and toys made of recycled plastic SCORE AGAIN! I had to wait in line FOREVER because of course there was only one cashier. Finally someone else came up to help, made my purchases and left. The next day I was looking over my stuff and realized the guy didn't charge me for one of the books. Being deathly afraid of bad karma I went back to the store to pay for it. The cashier was rude, didn't thank me for being honest, or apologize for having to come back, nothing. I knew it would have made me feel terrible if I didn't go back to pay for it but part of me walked out thinking why the HELL did I even bother?! The whole time I was there I felt bad that I was utilizing a big chain store instead of going to some of the local baby stores I've gone to in the past. Service. Service. Service. One of my friends registered here for her shower and that is the only reason we knew about this place. Why the word hasn't gotten out yet, I have no idea. But this place is amazing. Why? Are they just giving out free stuff? No. But the service is RIDICULOUSLY good compared to Babies R Us, Target, Walmart, Etc. I've been there a few times myself (am currently registered there because of the service) and have NEVER been disappointed. When I go to Babies R Us, I feel like NO one, knows ANYTHING. Like seriously, they all work in "other departments" and will seriously give you an answer just to get you off their back. "Yes, you can find that book over there." Well no, you can't actually. But at Buy Buy Baby, I never have to worry about the service I will receive. I never have to worry that an answer will be inaccurate. In fact, I never have to hunt anyone down. I am asked multiple times throughout the store if there's anything they can help me with. They come to me. I don't have to walk around confused, agitated and annoyed that I can't find an employee. Don't have any questions? That's okay! No pressure. They don't work on commission so they aren't talking you into anything. What's even better? If you ask someone a question and they don't know the answer, they radio someone who DOES know and then they stay with you while that person comes over to help. They make sure you get your answer and that you've been taken care of. Seriously? This level of service still exists? At first I thought this was a fluke. Our first time there was a Thursday night an hour before they closed. But we have been back during high-volume peak times and still receive the exact same level of service. I don't care if the prices are a couple of dollars more expensive. I don't care if this place is clear across town from where I live. I will happily drive my happy well-served butt over to Buy Buy Baby and have the workers there help me decide on strollers, breast pumps, gliders and more. They treat their customers like people. They don't herd you through the doors and then the registers and employ 16-year-olds who can't spell "Service" much less give it. I HIGHLY recommend this place. I have never been disappointed and plan to stock up on everything baby-related before the arrival of our little girl and for as long as I can! read more

Buy Buy Baby is fully owned by Bed Bath and Beyond, and it shows easily in their store format and style. The layout is like a big U, with little pits that are seperated by the type of thing that you are looking for. This makes it easy to find things, but much like their big sister, navigating a shopping cart through here while they are busy can be frustrating. A big plus that they have is that their bathrooms are right by the entrance. While I've never been a pregnant woman, I have spent 9 months with one and know that the seemingly mile hike to the restrooms in Babies R Us can be difficult. Their customer service varies to a small extent, but overall it is excellent. They provide jobs to a lot of working mothers who can really provide good advice and information to shoppers. In my opinion it is significantly better than Babies R Us who tens to employ younger people that have been trained (and are often friendly), but aren't nearly as informed. Pricing is almost identical to Babies R Us, and their inventory is similar in terms many items, but I feel that their furniture and clothing are a little nicer. You'll probably find a better deal online, and don't ever make a significant purchase there without a 20% off coupon as you can get them regularly by registering online (or using a Babies R Us one which they accept). If you do a registry with them you will get 10% off unpurchased items compared to 15% off at Babies R Us. Some people hate the big chains, but this is a well run business that served me well during my wife's pregnancy. We purchased our nursery furniture here and had it delivered in excellent condition on the time schedule they noted. As seeing what happend at USA Baby (see my other review), I'm very happy we went with the big guys! read more

We have been to the Buy Buy Baby in North Austin multiple times in the past 8 months preparing for our first child...not always the most helpful, BUT never as blatantly disrespectful as the staff at the South Austin location that we experienced today on 11/1/20. My husband and I (expecting in 6 weeks or less) drove an hour to this location to BUY a recliner and/or glider. There was 1 associate helping a customer while we tried nearly every chair in the store. When we double backed to some of the chairs we liked best...there were 2 associates in the furniture section ... not helping any one ... and neither of us were greeted or asked if we needed help. We walked to another section and CAME BACK to look at a few different things and the female associate walked directly In front of us - without acknowledging us AT ALL. I'm sure she'll remember who we were if she reads this because as she walked back to her desk, I said "no thanks! We don't need any help. We are good!" 45 minutes in the store and not one person talked to us. That's so disrespectful and disappointing ... especially since we came in to BUY something. Is it a Covid requirement not to engage customers who come in to buy something - especially something such as nursery furniture or a $700 chair? I advise to drive a little further to the North Austin location. read more

I had a phenomenal experience registering and shopping as a mom-to-be and even now when my son is over 3, I find myself coming back to shop here instead of online because I can ask a question and get a knowledgable person. Mark, the manager, is top notch. Kind and caring, but knows his stuff. This store does the little things that make shopping in a store actually enjoyable: the store is clean, they have the things you're looking for and nice touches like helping you carry heavy things out to your car. My wife and I came to Buy Buy Baby to set up a gift registry for our baby due in several months. They couldn't make it simpler to set up a registry, because the first thing you see when you walk in the door is a giant sign that says REGISTRY and an area dedicated to registries. This wasn't like some unattended automated box, it was people explaining how everything worked. For people who know next to nothing about babies like us, it was a little intimidating, but to be fair they did offer us a personalized shopping experience with an employee walking around explaining what things are and why we might need them. We rejected that offer and set out to explore on our own. They seemed to have an overwhelming amount of choices from everything from pacifiers to strollers. We kinda just went for the lower-price range on most items since baby items all seem super expensive. Obviously you can't put a price tag on your child's well-being, but if it's between a $239 bouncy chair thing and a $199 thing, I think we can rest at night knowing they are both quality products. Our scanner gun didn't work very well. It kept freezing up and we'd click the OK button like 100 times before it would let us continue. I'm not sure what to think. This was more or less my first ever baby store experience and I left pretty overwhelmed despite the helpful staff. It's hard for me to get super excited about baby stores, but this one is pretty good. I was skeptical at first, but have been quite pleased with my shopping experiences thus far. First off, they happened to have our nursery furniture in stock and ready to go, which meant that we didn't have to feel like bad future parents for not ordering it 3 months in advance. I think this was a lot of luck on our part, but it sure made me happy! Secondly, their prices are okay. Not fantastic, but okay. I'm registered on Amazon, which I generally prefer for both price and selection, but every now and then BBB surprises me. Third, if you register there they will send you coupons once a month or so. One is $5 off a purchase of $15 or more (good for small stuff), but the other is the real deal: 20% off a single item. We used this for our glider and it saved $100. Heck yeah! They also take coupons for Bed, Bath, and Beyond and Babies R Us, although I haven't actually used these yet. Salespeople are generally helpful, although there are sometimes so many of them on the floor that checkout gets a little confusing/understaffed. And don't be shy about asking the salespeople for suggestions - I've found them to be quite knowledgeable, which is especially useful for us first-timers. My only gripe with BBB is that there's relatively little gender neutral stuff in terms of clothes or bedding. I can work around that, though. Is the store as nice as Baby Earth? No way. But it beats Babies R Us by a mile, the location is great, they give deals, and I'll keep going back. read more

Worst BuyBuyBaby! For a store that strictly sells baby items, they are always out of or dont carry many common items! Everytime I stop in this location they never have I come in for. Everything always has to be ordered and then shipped to you. However. If I stop at the next location in Cedar Park, which is almost over an hour away from me, they always have it! I also feel like no one at this location knows about anything they carry. I ask and they look dumbfounded or have to ask 3 more employees. I never imagined I would give a retail store 5 stars, but as a new mother, this store was a godsend. It has everything I need plus built in safety seats in the shopping carts for my little one and a feeding room for nursing, feeding and changing him, which seems to be every time I am there since he has to eat every 2-3 hours. They even have parking spots reserved for pregnant mothers and moms with newborns which I am so grateful for. Prices are much better than I expected, too, and they have great coupons. I am so glad that I ended up getting a gift card to here as a shower gift or I might never have come here- now it's my go-to spot! read more

They did have a great selection of gear, but they seemed to be a little lacking in the furniture department which is what we were in the hunt for. Maybe better than Babies R US but still had a big box feel to it. I also have always hated shoping in those big box corporate stores. I would much prefer to support local businesses. We'll continue to try and buy local. We went in to look at USA Baby around the corner and while they don't have as big of a gear selection, they have a lot more options for furniture, and higher quality stuff too. Their staff seemed nice and although there is a long wait for special order items, i felt better about supporting local Austin businesses. Shout out to the manager at this store, Mark, who has been very helpful when I was purchasing a car seat and again when something went wrong on the warehouse end of things on my order, he went above and beyond to make sure I received my order with expedited shipping.
