Went to Buzz's a few days ago- on our way out of town. We have always had good service at Buzz's in the past. This time was a little different. My hubby and our friends decided that we would meet up here and then be on our way. I beat the 3 of them there and walked in. There were 2 people sitting at the bar, myself and the bartender. After sitting there for about 10 minutes, I think she finally caught me looking at my watch and that was when she got to acknowledging me with " I'll be right with you". A few more minutes went by, after changing the tv channel, and answering the phone- with who I would assume was her boyfriend/husband/significant other because she called them "honey", I finally got to order my beer. I got smart when I wanted a second one and walked up to the bar to order that one. Hubby finally arrived at that time, so I ordered him a beer too and closed out my tab. Friends let us know that they would be there shortly, so we decided to get a happy hour snack and another round. When hubby went up to order pot stickers- which are more like egg rolls, they are so deep fried and another beer, Happy Bartender replied to him "are you keeping this tab open or what?" Worst service that we have ever experienced at Buzz's. I only gave it 2 stars because in the past, the service has been good and the food is alright, better than your average bar food- at least more variety anyway. I would go back, but I would check to see who was behind the bar first. read more

This is an old-time beer tavern at the end of Mud Bay. Toy (I believe) bought it and added a bar and grill. At lunch hamburgers, etc. are great but the real following is for the inexpensive prime rib and steaks on Friday or Saturday night. NY strip for $9.99 and add 5 prawns to make it $11.99 (at this time), comes with little salad and baked potato. It's a great place to go in crummy clothes, have a beer or drink, and have a decent steak and there are other items on the menu. It's not Ruth Chris but there is a decent steak for a very fair price. The prime rib is hit or miss as to tenderness. Sometimes the service is slow but the place is almost always crowded and they are friendly. The atmosphere is "beer tavern". In the summer the deck is great. read more

Prices are ridiculous. I haven't paid $8.50 for a Makers in my life. I might as well go to Seattle. Service has slid downhill as well. Guy walks out of the kitchen with a badass plate of nachos... I say I would like an order and he barks that the kitchen is closed. Really???? Also pay as you go. They have tried to charged me for drinks I didn't order twice. Must be a policy..... read more

It's not at all what we're expecting great food and great people great value for your dollar, a patio view of Mudd Bay... Bacon wrapped scallops are to die for. Buzz's is always a fun place to go with a big group of people because it is usually pretty empty so you can hog the karaoke mic, pool tables and shuffle board without pissing too many people off. Drinks are strong and great quick bar food. Love the outdoor deck too it's right next to a part of the inlet. read more

I was in town from Wisconsin, stopped in on Friday morning in hopes of a bloody mary. I was pleasantly surprised by how great not only the bloody was but the food and bartender(Jen) as well! My dad and I returned the next day because we enjoyed it so much! We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. read more

This place used to be great a couple years ago .There used to be a great little bartender there with brown hair she was always very friendly, with the change in staff it has really gone down hill. I was there about a week ago and it was over 10 mins before I was waited on. Had a couple beers and a bite to eat, was nothing special. read more

Love this place. The food is really good, especially the sandwiches. And they make a really good bloody mary. It is so comfortable, the bartenders are friendly, the view from the patio is of the water. It's the kind of place you want to hang out at after work and a place you don't want to rush out of. Yeah this place is ok with me. Too dingy or working class for alot of khaki shorts yuppies. I like that. Food is typical bar food, not gastro pub. It will all be tasty after you get a few beers in ya, and its priced accordingly. Good place to dive into. Act accordingly here, or I could see getting teeth knocked out. Reminds me of home. My favorite place to stop and eat in Olympia! I love dive bars so this was a hidden gem for me. Great atmosphere, prices are reasonable, and the food is what you would expect. The food is good, the drinks are well-poured, and the customers tend to be a friendly lot...the biggest complaint with the place is that the woman in charge genuinely seems to hate being in a service industry, and goes out of her way to make every customer know it. Just as another reviewer described below - I have watched her make customers wait inordinate amounts of time for service, while she did things that could obviously have waited. It really does seem almost like some kind of passive-aggressive way of asserting dominance over her customers. She's been everything short of openly hostile with me on several occasions, so much so that I will now only go there when she isn't working. The rest of the staff has never been anything but professional and courteous. The problem is clearly at the top. It's also ridiculous that such a large tavern, just a couple miles from a college, still hasn't added a WiFi hotspot. There are lunch and dinner specials daily - and the Prime Rib on Friday nights is a great deal. You'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth putting up with the occasional major customer service problem. read more

Love this place. Been going there for years. Food is good, not bar good, good as on I can eat here and feel like I had a great meal. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is the best. 2 disabled people who went to have lunch there were refused service for no stated reason - recommend going elsewhere - like Annie's for example. I don't go here often, because we're not heavy drinkers, but sometimes just want some pub grub. As a resident of the Steamboat area, Character's fits the bill when necessary, but does not always cut it, and I have heard that the food is pretty darn good at Buzz lately, so tried it again. Food good (for tavern food), prices fair. Also, love the Mud Bay view (yes, I will be the one watching GBH). In comparison to Character's Corner, food and view better, but no family dining, and no wi-fi. Dang it. I want it all. I do NOT expect wi-fi in good restaurants, but think it should be fair game at roadside taverns. read more

Easily the best bar/pub on the Westside of Olympia.... Super friendly staff, from the owner on down, seal the deal. The food is above average for pub grub, and the owner often features Korean inspired dishes which ad some needed spice, no pun intended. The crowd is casual, and very eclectic, in a good way. You'll enjoy your visit and there's an outdoor deck to boot. read more

No easy handicap access. Step at main door that makes wheelchair access impossible. Side ramp leads to side deck, and to side doors, but deck gate broken and access to ramp under deep puddle. We persisted and had a good meal and drinks, but for as popular as this place seems to be, they should spend some money to fix the lack of handicapped access and the wet, potholed parking lot. We would like to come back, but we probably won't unless improvements made. Too bad! read more

I am so disappointed. We'd started going to Buzz's for dinner after a regular event on Monday nights about a month ago. The karaoke was fun (either fabulous or awful - but that's karaoke) and run by two different DJ's - both really good. We had started working our way through the menu and had found everything we'd ordered to be great. We only have five visits to judge from, but there are two serious problems that will probably keep us from returning. First, the volume level - well above 85db and unnecessarily so. We love music but it shouldn't hurt. The biggest problem, though, is smoke. I empathize with smokers who have to take their breaks outside, but propping the door open so that heavy smoke fills the tavern is nasty and illegal. I got up and walked over to shut the door once and the waitress (lots of hustle - a real pro) said she was trying to keep an eye on her customers. When it was propped open a second time it stayed that way. Nobody reacted and the air quality got worse and worse. My asthma drove me outside the front door and our party just gave up and left. I'm sad because the potential was so high for finding a regular haunt. I guess my business doesn't really matter. read more

We had the worst experience at Buzz's. We sat at the bar, front and center, and we were ignored by , not only one, but three servers. We had to ask for drinks, menus, and we had to ask to order (3 different servers). We also had to ask where our order was almost an hour after we had placed our request. We did finally speak to one of the owners when we were billing out and she made ridiculous excuses for everyone - nothing taken off our bill for the inconvenience ! (And we are not the type of people to complain). Don't go there! What a terrible experience!!!| read more

Went to Buzz's one time, will never return. Got double charged on our card and had to go back 3 times to get it resolved. So if you go here and pay by card pay close attention when you get your statement, we are probably not the first this has happened to. read more

What do you expect? It's a tavern. I've been here twice for the fried chicken dinner. I believe it is the Sunday night special. You won't be disappointed. It is very good. in on Sunday afternoon clearly understaffed with only one waitress/bartender and a cook. the poor girl was running her ass off trying to take care of everybody. she was able to throw my beer at me but took almost twenty minutes to get back for next beer and as I was bout to place a food order she was gone. classic example of owner not in touch with their own place. too bad. the only con i can say about the place is the parking is small other then that got tons of things to choose from on the menu and its only like 2 miles away i go there with my father it seems like the locals go there pretty often the staff knows them by name the music isn't that loud yet again i never been there when there playing live music read more
